Hey guys, can you recommend good audio recording app for external mic? I've got one shotgun mic and want to use the phone as audio recorder but was unable to do it with the integrated audio recorder and some apps I tried with the keywords "audio recorder" ha
I can recommend Recforge - pretty sure it is what you are looking for
I am with MIUI 10.3.7 and non mod installed and again when recording always uses the internal mics. Not the plugged shotgun mic into the headphone jack. Is this jack output only and not input, thank you for the recommendation but again the external mic is notndetected

Hi guys,
can anybody help me find a way to reduce the audio input gain?
I was trying to use my SGS II to record some live concerts and rehearsals of my band and all I got was HORRIBLE distortion.
I tried to google my problem but no success yet.
Please help!
Up!
I didn't mentioned that I am talking about the audio quality of video recording and I am running on the original ROM that came with the phone.
Nothing? Anybody?
As of now I don't know of any software solution to lower the mic gain when recording video.
However, I've heard that using the headset that came with your phone (earbuds with mic attached) while recording video should use the mic on the headset, which will result in better audio (albeit in mono instead of in stereo, but that's a small sacrifice) in the video recording. I've not tried it personally, but you could try that out.

It doesn't have to be the headset that came with the phone, I think any headset which you can use the mic in calls should work.
My Zagg Smartbuds worked fine with this method.
I made the usual mistake of trying to record video at a (rock) concert last night on the S2 and the sound was appalling - levels way too high and distorted beyond belief. This happens every time so I really should know better.
Does anyone have any handy hints for getting half-decent sound from concert video recordings, or is it basically a waste of time on this device?
As far as I know, no-one has managed to lower the microphone volume. Just do yourself and everyone around you a favour and leave the phone at home and enjoy the concert.
I agree with oinky, but if you're on a stock based ROM, then an option for you is to bring along a headset that has a mic and plug it in while recording. Gain using the headset mic is acceptable, but it will then only record in mono.

SGS2S have build-in stereo mic??
AFAIK SGS2S record mono despite internal or headset external mic so tip with headset mic can actually be a proper solution.

Yes. Uses both mics (regular voice mic + NR mic) for stereo audio recording while recording video.
When recording a song yesterday, my song ideas came out choppy.I was recording strictly wav audio and It almost sounded like there was a noise gate on the phone. After a while of digging through options, I found an option in Call settings> Additional Settings > noise reduction. When this option is selected, the phone turns on a noise gate that makes audio recordings sound terrible; However, when this option is turned off, Audio recordings sound great!! Unfortunately, this doesn't affect the audio quality when recording video, because most wav audio programs only use one microphone. So, I'm wondering....Seeing as how this phone records camcorder audio in stereo( one mic at the top and one at the bottom ), is it possible that these microphones are out of phase and thats why there is no bass in video recording? I'm assuming that the polarity on the top microphone is reversed to eliminate background noise during calls. Also, maybe there is a camcorder program where you can select which microphone to use. When I connected my Galaxy headphones( with the included Mic) the audio was redirected from the the two microphone to the headset microphone. Im thinking of making a TRRS to TRS adapter, which will connect only the microphone and see if that resolves the issue. I understand that I could just add an equalizer to the audio from video in iMovie, but I really enjoy experimenting with this problem. Furthermore, has anybody tried making an XLR to TRRS cable? I used one on my Samsung Vibrant years ago and it sounded great! any suggestions would be great!!! (To get to call settings, you have to click on the phone app, then left button to access)
Hi people!
I have an issue with Sony Audio Recorder app and noise cancel headphones that are included with the phone (MDR-NC31E)
The new update adds the Binaural feature to record "3D" sound using the headphones microphones.
article here:

I tried the new feature but the recording is in mono, not even stereo! It uses the headphones microphones correctly but the risult is in mono. :crying:
Maybe there are different version of the headphones?
Any of you with this problem?
I wanted to know if when you attach a stereo external mic to the s9+, does the phone record the audio in stereo, or mono? I've heard that the s9+ cannot actually record stereo audio from an external source, only mono, but it does record stereo audio from the built in mics.
Thanks for any help.

sorry I don't have an answer to your question. but I do have a question to you. if you record a video with a loud music does the video sound gets lowered or sort of compressed?
Record stereo audio from an external mic
As far as I know, the s9+ has automatic level control so loud audio would be lowered and compressed.
It will record in mono, as the connector is only a TRRS 4-way connection. Left+Common+Right++Mic. There is not a physical connection for two channels of mic input. You would need to use a OTG USB audio adapter with two channels of audio input.
Record stereo audio from an external mic
Thanks.
I am unable to make a USB microphone work with the S9+via OTG, and have not been able ot find out why. One person suggested that Samsung "locks down" their USB drivers to prevent call recording, but I have not been able to verify. In any case a HUGE dissapointment.

Record stereo audio from an external mic
That's disappointing. I guess if I want stereo audio for my videos I'll just have to keep using my dslr camera with my stereo mic attached. Thanks for your reply.
