Enjoying the tablet so far but the icons are just too big, so installed Nova Launcher hoping that would quickly solve the problem.
When you rotate the display to landscape the dock stays on the right ( which in itself is weird, and it's unclear where you swipe from to bring up the app draw. When swiping from the right you get a weird menu.
I use Nova Launcher on all my devices usually and this is the first time I've seen this, maybe it's just because I havent done a fresh install of Nova Launcher for while but this seems messed up.
I'm sure there are probably options in ths settings to change all of this (probably take a hour of more to find) but damn, why does it default to this now?? :silly:

I had the same problem.
Solution: go to system settings, display, zoom, and then set the zoom level to minimum.
Then the dock is at the right place.

Zoom? Will try this later, you've hopefully saved me an hour of faffing around in the settings.
@winmentat01 you're a legend mate. That fixed it for me. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it a Samsung bug or a Nova one?

If you want even smaller icons and user interface, use the options in the Developer settings > Minimum width. If you make the value bigger, the interface become smaller. The default setting is 800. For example 960 works just great and all apps become PC-like experience.

Looks amazing but .... How is it for speed, lag, smoothness, fluidity etc compared to touchwiz and particularly nova launcher

I had this installed for less than a day. It looks great and gives you loads of freedom. Also has a lot of nice gimmicks.
Ultimately it wasn't for me. Slow animations, couple of crashes, doesn't run well without a notification icon.. Also the desktop switcher looks dreadful (IMO) and you can't really change it the way that I would like.
Also has the worst app drawer if seen. No way to sort apps manually, no way to make the side margins bigger (to move the app icons closer to the center of the screen).. And animated flames on newly downloaded apps... It's a matter of taste I guess.
I got a refund. Great launcher, but not worth the price (even discounted). I'll stick with Nova. I really advice to try before you buy.
It's not really true what you're saying. I'm using latest version of TSF since a few days and hadn't one single crash. I don't know what you doing wrong.

l like TSF. It's a very intuitive launcher. Definitely worth a try and i will stay with it. Apex or Noca are great launchers (i like nova more cuz of it's nicer looking hiding dock animation). But TSF is something different. A customizable, intuitive launcher with a very good desktop management for working.
Edit: in connection with All in One Gestures even better.

Hard to see how it's not true since these are my experiences and opinions. I'm glad the launcher is working out for you though.
The animations are not slow as in laggy or anything. The launcher just has these detailed and long animations. It takes a second compared to the minimalistic and fast animations of Nova.
My point is that Nova gets the job done. It's fast and stable. TSF is something you have to experience, because you either love it or hate it. (And again, that's my opinion)

i tried this launcher before, and found it gimmiki
i double on every thing you mentioned
and may i add that it's resource consuming
and has a VERY STEEP learning curve

There are no long animations lol... its as fast as apex or nova. I'm using TSF since days in work and for playing. Long testing period and its stable and.. fast for me. IMO i suggest you to check your os. There must be something wrong
The l launcher runs great and have more useful features for desktop management then any other launcher. One great example is the lasso mode by double clicking for selecting more icons then just one. So you have to admit novas learning curve is continually on one level.

I guess the policy on huawei devices is different to my ones before (sony xperia mini pro, Galaxy S2+ and 3, LG G2 many Nexi 7 etc.).
Is there a way to change tasker's icon in the notification bar by tasker? I usually set a picture to the current state of my profiles, a house for being home, a headset for being connected to it etc.
Any workarounds or solutions known?
I've been looking for a solution a well but so far no luck I'd appreciate if someone could help

I am running on
AOKP ROM 8.1 (08.03.18)
with Nova Launcher
Since few ROM changes all clean flash, I am very happy with this configuation.
One issue though, but startet not only with this ROM, however I don't recall at which point it happened.
If I set any widget on my home screen, which is related to calendar list view, I no more get the widget loaded. It stays black with the message: "error loading widget". Only calendar related widgets, others are working normal.
Google search got me some ideas but nothing helped. Today I started to hint, if it may be related to the launcher, and see what happened:
I switched to "Trebuchet" ROM integrated launcher, I got same problem.
I switched to "Google Now" launcher, and all of a sudden I was able to place the widget(s) working on the home screen again.
I tried to clear all Trebuchet related data, and turned it on again as standard. Again same effect, "error loading the widget".
Also savel Nova settings, reset Nova launcher complete, and tried, same effect, "error loading wigdet".
Anybody has an idea how I'd get my calendar entries on home screen widget again as it was before. I mean without using Google Now launcher?

First obvious verification : Nova autorisation ("storage") is ON?
NB : I'm on the same config and I just tried. It's working OK for me.
Just had to tick on the first time "autorise Nova to create and access data" or something like that. then create a second time and it was OK. (did you set Nova by default creating the widget?).

Yes, storage is authorized.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Nova, authorizing everything one more. Allowing to create shortcuts etc....
Situation the same:
Interestingly I can very well create any other widget and shortcut, even in Nova, if it is not related to the calendar agenda. Widget to display the full calendar is also working...
Systme widget with digital clock it not working.
With Google Now launcher those work.
May next try will be once more a clean flash without restoring my apps via TB, when an updated version of the ROM will be available. Then will try to create the same widgets before app restore, I mean right after the clean flash.
I think it is not related to Nova, since with Trebuchet = standard launcher of ROM, it also doensn't work now. But I have not tried this after the clean flash, and went to restore the apps streight away.
If you don't have the issue, it must be not ROM, but rather TB restore of something.

And in fact you're right!
I only use the months view and no problem.
If I try the day view, it put "problem updating the widget".

Can you perhaps switch for a quick try to Google Now launcher and see if the calendar view works there?
Then situations would be totally equal.

Not One+ but Axon 7, but the same behaviour in Nova Launcher.
AOSP Extended (AEX) OREO 8.1 ROM, and problems with some chronus widgets....Mileage vary depending the launcher. Pixel does not function also, while Lawnchair Launcher allows... Most interested in your findings

You can still install and use Nova, but there are some bugs with gesture navigation. No problem if you use traditional nav bar.

but it also seems that huawei offers a seperated app drawer in emui9, so maybe there is no more need for nova...?

yeah thats' the case for a while now. but i don't like the old fashioned way they implemented it. you know with the separate button to launch the drawer. it would be much more consistent if they do it like google does with the swipe to open the drawer.

The main problem with nova+emui 9 gesture is an animation glitch when going to homescreen. Installing fluid gestures solved that problem 90% of the time, still around 10% chance the glitch happens on my phone, but it doesn't bother me too much.
Another problem is blue tint in task switch screen and its crappy UI design (you can't touch the left or right card and go to that app directly, and it's difficult to stop at the right card), but i guess that's related to nova, not with gestures. It's annoying but still I can live with.
If you use the international rom. that's all you need to worry about.
If you use the Chinese rom version, 3rd party launcher is banned. If you bypass that ban by disabling emui launcher with adb, gestures will become unusable. Fluid gestures won't fix that problem. So you have to pick between using gestures or using 3rd party launcher, not both.

No notification sleeping or other problems tipicals of the Cina version.

If you are using Nova launcher, especially the beta, mine updated about an hour ago and now it keeps crashing and I can't get a debug, it says cancel or uninstall then sends you back to the default launcher.

Hi. I cannot use klwp with more than 1 page. Wallpaper scrolling doesn't work on different launchers. I've trying use force scrolling in nova launcher but it crashes this launcher. Any suggestions? I'm using huawei mate 20 pro.
It all works fine
there is a tricky way to make it all work.
First - Set you default launcher to Huaweis own. Longpress and set the amount of screens you want
Second - Set your prefered launcher and set the same amount of screens as you did in Huaweis launcher
Third - In Nova, go to "Home Screen" and look for the box "Scroll". I've set it to "Wallpaper scrolling ON" and Force Wallpaper Scrolling.
Now.. Go in to Huaweis theme section and set a normal wallpaper. When you choose this, in the bottom of the page with you new wallpaper you'll see an option to use wallpaper scrolling.. Do that!..
Load up KLWP and choose your desired wallpaper and it should work.

It doesn't work. I've done what you say. When I switch my launcher to nova it crashes. My phone shows smart recovery window where I can push unistall or cancel button.

Okay reinstall Nova without changing the settings and try again. This worked for me

I had to change launcher into huawei launcher. Then I change wallpaper. You have to choose scrollable wallpaper. Then save it. That's all. It should be scrollable wall
