When shooting video in the Moto E 2015 can the quality be changed down from 720p? I shot a 1 1/2 minute video yesterday and the result was a huge 99 MB .mp4 file.
Thanks!
Yes, but you need custom camera app. Try open camera from playstore.

Thanks, Open Camera is just the ticket.
I have unrooted LG G5. I downloaded 3rd party camera app (Open Camera) because it has manual video controls only to find out I can't shoot 4k with that app. There is option to chose 4k resolution, but video ends up 1080p. Would rooting the phone help?

I don't think rooting your phone would help , but that's wired because I haven't this problem with my Next it Robin ( 4K camera too ) , see the screenshot :
What is the camera app called?

Did you check if it is really 4k? (While on the video in gallery, tap details, resolution should be displayed there). I have the 4l option too but it saves the video as 1080p.

Ho , I figured out what was wrong , I was using the camera in photography mode . In video mode , our phones aren't powerful enough to support 4K videos. It is the case for every phone that supports 4K .( Edit #1: every phone I know)

Yes.
I think the only way to "solve" this is to contact the developer of the app.
Thank you very much for your time!

Hello, I was looking at the whole internet...
Is there any chance to unlock the UHD/4K 60fps for 3rd party apps? Stock camera processing is just a crap, and is not possible to use Open Camera, Cinema FV-5, Filmic... beyond 30fps.
Same question applies for G7/G8/V35/V40/V50... all locked up to 30fps.
Any reply is welcome!

bump! same question. tried open camera just today 60 with stock API is a no.
switching to cam 2 api is also a no, and can't even get up to 60fps
anyone else?
Anyone tried Motioncam for raw stills? I am interested if the full 64MB raw could be recorded somehow.
Does it work withe the wide angle camera too?
Store link.

Yes it's awesome
Just wanted to ask a question to anybody who has upgraded to Android 12/OxygenOS 12. Is the ultrawide camera usable as an AUX camera in apps like GCam? Or is it still only accessible through the stock camera app like in Android 11. I would also really appreciate if somebody with Android 12 installs the "Camera2 API Probe" app from the play store and reports back with the results. Is the 8MP ultrawide camera listed in there?
Only 1 back and 1 front cameras are reported.

That's unfortunate, it's what I was fearing. Looks like the ultrawide camera still isn't accessible outside of the stock camera app.
