Anyone noticed that videos are not wide as photos?
In photos I put 4:3 aspect ratio to get the most of the wideness of the wide camera
But in videos I can only put 16:9 or wider which drastically crop out the video frame vertically as well as horizontally.

Any solution for that to get a better field of view?
I really need this for my up coming ski vacation.
Thanks
I think this is because of EIS. The camera crops to avoid shaky blurry image.

Yes I have a solution. first you download the open camera from play Store .than go to the camera settings tap video settings select the 4:3 aspect ratio and after recording the video stretch the video into 16:9 ratio using any editing software .when you don't have a pc . Download powerdIrector from play Store and apply zoom in fx and stretch the video manually.

Hey, I found the stock camera of Gingerbread XXILA 2.3.6 has larger view in Camcorder mode. It is very nice, but I use Hacked Camera which is based on older Camera.apk and gives me better birate & sound.
Here are screens what I mean:
Hacked Camcorder:

XXILA 2.3.6 Camcorder:
You see video view is larger, ugly gray borders do not cover area.
Same applies the Camera (not Camcorder):
I want to remove such gray borders. I glanced onto camera.apk and found some UI elements, but I am not sure it is safe to modify this
You can't remove it in picture mode. The reason for that is the aspect ratio. 8mp still picture is 4:3 while 720p/1080p video is 16:9.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
But in video yes it seems - I do not know how. Also in 2.3.6 camera picture is taller and takes really full screen area, not few mm fewer than previous cameras
All you need is to change some PNGs in Camera.apk !! As you can see, the alpha(transparency) of the PNGs has been increased in the 1st screenie. Take your APK, decompile it, increase the alpha or transparency of needed PNGs and recompile it without signing. Thats it!! I changed my stock camera app to the CM one in this way!!.
Hope it works!!
I really like the aspect ratio of the nexus 9. however, since i mainly use a tablet for multimedia consumption, i am really worried about how much of the screen is the actual content, and how much is letter boxing. i would really appreciate it if someone would share picture(s) of his nexus 9 while viewing youtube videos,or random scenes of movies using perhaps VLC (or any other advanced player of your choice) at both full screen filling and native aspect ratio.{ And maybe comparison to any other 16:9 / 16:10 display laid side by side containing the same frame. (Just please mention whether the other screen is 16:9 or 16:10).}
Since i am asking a lot within the {}, feel free to ignore it if you want to.
Anything would do.
PS: how many hours of ONLY 720p playback can one get out of a full charge?
PPS: How does the area of the video it compare to other screens 16:9 in the same screen range (7 inch to 9 inch) ?
Thanks
(Edit): Would really help if you would describe how the aspect ratio and letter boxing actually affect the experience. ( Doesn't impose a problem / Easy to ignore / Could be an inconvenience / Usually annoying / Deal breaker )
The bezel + black bars above and below the picture are about equal to the bezels on the left and right of the screen. So basically there is an even black frame around the picture. I'm completely fine with it. Overall, the picture is bigger than on the nexus 7.

This is Gravity on Play Movies on my N9 and N7 2013, not the best picture but you can see the N9 is definitely bigger.
I don't know what I am doing wrong, but the quality looks not so good? please help

Are you using the wide angle camera, the front camera or the main camera?? The main camera is 16MP and the other 2 are only 8MP.
It does look like you are using the wide angle camera here so the image wont be as good
Hi fellow Austrian
As the G5's cameras support the Camera2 API, you might wanna try manual mode. Using it, you are able to manually set ISO, shutter speed, white balancing and focus, while the last two parameters still contain an "AUTO" function. You can turn it on in the overflow menu.
Here are some helpful pages that helped me
- ISO/shutter speed
- ISO/shutter speed cheat sheet
-White balance

That's the worst contrast I've seen in a while. My first thought was that maybe the lens is dirty?
@Seansmit17 yes im using wide angel but if i dont use it still pictures looks like 8 bit. i will post more pics tomorrow.
@Firefrost Servus i will try it thanks but i want to use simple mode.
@ torax242 no its not.
Still same, is this looks like a hardware problem? Should i send it back? There is no settings or something.
sent back to amazon.... end
Is there any way to disable the optical image stabilization on an Android device? Preferably S9 as that's what I'm using, not sure if this is a thing that can be done on rooted Android devices?
I'm using it with a full frame fisheye lens as an action cam (like GoPro) with a chest harness and so far it works great, I think the quality is a lot better than GoPro (especially at night) and the lens is wider too, but there's one kind of big problem because it is using OIS and it was not designed for bigger shakes it actually ruins the image for a split second, it seems the OIS shifts the lens out of focus whenever the phone is shaked a bit hard - you can test this with your phone by shaking it forward-up-down and then playing the video back frame by frame, it is very noticeable anyway.
So what I was hoping is that by disabling the OIS (it seems to be controlled electronically and tries to compensate for the shake) it could hopefully maybe fix this, although I'm not very optimistic by this, there are moving parts in the hardware but what I noticed is that if I shake the phone without the camera app open, the camera makes more noise/moves more versus when the camera app is open, so maybe just maybe there is a way to mod the electronic part to hold it into place all the time?
Here is a gif of an example of what happens when you shake the phone, please note that this is not motion blur, but it is actually out of focus when that happens, it is exactly the same result whether I use it in very bright lightning conditions or low.

I was really happy with the results with this phone and the fact that you can edit and share content right away, would be great to solve this problem! By the way I'm using it with a Blackeye Pro Fisheye G4 lens if anyone is curious.
trying to resize a small photo properties are 770 x 1502 pixels I would prefer 1600 x 1200 pixels
when I resize it pixels in properties and filesize increase but jpeg in windows photos and many other photo programs stay exactly the same size
never resizes so far I have tried
photoshop
photoshop elements
lightroom classic
bridge
ms paint
power toys
photo blow-up
gimp
shampoo photo optimizer
PowerPoint
and online image resizers
none of these actually make it bigger
I have 4 separate photos that need resizing and are all different sizes
don't know what else to try
windows 11 pro x64
Photoshop can certainly do it. I'm happy to show you - contact me on Telegram if you want me to show you: Mod edit: TG link removed.
I'm using PhotoFiltre7 app.
i tried PhotoFiltre7.app on 2 different photos but exactly the same whatever sizes i put in image size the photo is always the same dimensions not bigger.
You probably aren't able to correctly handle PhotoFiltre7 app: it perfectly works.
