Hi, its October 2019, and I'm still rocking this phone as my daily driver. With Lineage 15.1 installed it feels brand new and snappy, tho occasionally some apps will crash but nothing major.
What I want is a better camera experience and gcam comes up a lot.
After going round and round through threads I landed on this page
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
But which latest version of gcam works, using both camera modules and night sight?
The best I can come up with is to use version 6.1, but not exactly sure where to start on that.
Appreciate any input.

I use this exact version:
NoHex_MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2a+
You can enable switching cameras in settings. Everything works fine for me.

I downloaded Arnovas oreo version from here under
Google camera 6.1 section. Version : Arnovas advanced 1.7 from here :
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-suggested/
Then opened the configs link and searched for g5 and downloaded the xml file . I installed the apk and installed the g5.Xml as described on the page.
Most things work, except slow motion..it crashes.
If you go to settings, aux camera switch method.
I changed that to long press, so doing so will switch between wide and normal.
Hope this all makes sense.
Side note.. There's so many options in this Gcam version.

If I'm not wrong, that apk comes from cstark.

On the version I suggested (not sure if present on Arnova's mod) there is a setting for switching the slow motion FPS which resolves the crashes.

Oh excellent. Yes, theres the option to change fps 120, which now works. Thx
incidentally arnova's 1.7 was crashing more than I liked, so I tried arnova's 1.6, which seems more stable.
I wonder what the difference is between your suggestion and the MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2e.apk listed
I don't understand what the Nohex means, unless thats a developer too.
I'm just waiting for Lineage 16 to be more stable and want to try the next gcam versions.

Cstark is the developer of the one I suggested.
NoHex has something to do with the Hexagon DSP hardware components, though I'm not sure what.

Oh OK. Well, the G5 has the hexagon dsp, unless gcam was causing issues with it, hence a nohex version.

Wondering if the "best" (most current/feature-rich) suggestion for the LG has changed in the last 6+ months? I've finally gotten my TMO LG G5 H830 flashed with LOS 17.1 and everything (basically) is working as desired with the one notable exception of no GCam port yet.
Would *really* appreciate any feedback on the current best option?

Not very sure, my G5 has gotten some rather nasty battery issues so I'm not using it now. You can try some of the Android 10 compatible apks (7.2.x and up) here:

Sorry to put this in General but I haven't met the requirements to post elsewhere and hopefully someone will see this .
I've been keeping up with the Atrix 4G CM10 Mod and have to say great work so far. The latest version fixes most of the issues I've seen in the past including the Camera and random reboots.
Few things it doesn't fix that may be either app developer issues, issues with the mod itself, or something I'm not thinking of; Netflix doesn't work , Triple Town (and some other games) don't work (I think this is due to hardware accel, but they work on my Flipside so I'm not sure that matters much).
Anyways just wanted to say thanks, and great work. Can't wait for the next update.

Just tried it but I'm going back to Turl's CM9 which I've been using for a month now. CM10 isn't quite as refined as CM9 atm, CM10 doesn't allow for transitions also the crt animation isn't functioning along with GPS(which also isn't working in CM9 for me), on the bright side Google now worked good on CM10 and is pretty cool.

Video is not working in the native camera app but you can apparently download a camera app in the maket to take video. Chrome tabs still crash the app. Neither of these will probably be able to be fixed until we get official drivers from ICS update.

Seems to depend on who you are, the Camera and Camcorder work fine for me under CM10 with the native camera application. Though it does crap out from time to time. I've had better luck with Pudding Camera being stable.
As for tabs, don't know, will have to look to see if they are working when I get home.

Whitout acceleration, ICS or JB is useless =/ (no video cam, no 720p video playback)
Whaiting for the official one ^^ (It will be crapy but our deves will mod it)
I know, my english is terrible!
I have jokersax CM10 and my issues so far are:
-When the camera takes a picture with the flash on, the image is overlayed with a heavy green tint, also happened in CM9
-Cant see internal SD storage in Win7.
-Video worked at first (with delay) but now crashes with some gallery error.
-Can't get GPS to work but I'll try GPS test outside in a few minutes
-The animations are smooth but sometimes do this weird little jump back at last couple of frames, doesn't really bother me.
My battery life seems better than the CM9's I tried and the phone has been using deep sleep with CM10. That said, both 9 and 10 use noticeably more battery than CM7.
I also had issues with GPS on CM 9/10. I tried all the common fixes. Even going back to a blur-based ROM didn't fix it. Finally flashed my radio to 36P and now the GPS locks in seconds.
Jokersax CM10 JB 0.2 !!
Hi Guys,
I being a noob, installed Jokersax's CM10 JB 0.2 version yesterday. Had some nervous moments :fingers-crossed: when I soft bricked my phone. But finally recovered from that and could install JB. The following are my observations;
Working:
1) Camera
2) GPS
3) Google Now works. Awesome !! Very quick and to the point.
4) Music play back on phone speaker
5) DLNA works. Tested with Skifta and iMediashare
Not working: (Driver issues and app issues)
1) Chrome not working properly. When I zoom in, it crashes
2) Camcorder - recorded a short video snippet. But the file vanished from the gallery. Not able to find it or it did not record at all !!
3) Finger print
4) Stuttering slightly when moving from one desktop to another
5) No Webtop
6) XDA developer app
Will update this post when I do further tests
Thanks again to CM10 developers, Jokersax and to all those who have helped in getting this ROM to this level.
Why post this here? These issues are already well-known and documented.

Sorry nh777 and all. In the excitement of having JB, did not analyse the thread.
I'm very pleased with CM10 Epinter. The small bugs and video camera not bother me so much as to not use more CM10. Bring on the libs official logo.
Amazing rom and theming questions
I have installed CM10 on my Motorola Atrix from Emerson Pinter and found that it works amazingly. Some minor issues involving the camera, gps, and sometimes frame lags, but other than that, it seems to be a pretty stable build. Battery is amazing compared to most other roms. I get a 25 hour battery! Thanks EPinter! I just have one question and hope someone can help me, even though it doesn't exactly pertain to this topic. You know when you are at the lockscreen, you tap the lock and you can slide it to wither camera or unlock? Well, I was wondering if I could change the little dots in the background, maybe change the color or something along those lines. Does anyone have any information on that?
Thanks,
Luca

Wouldn't a different theme do that?
Sorry for reviving an old thread (I thought it would be better than not using the search function) but where can I get the latest version of cm10? I mostly need a functioning camera again which this jokersax ROM doesn't seem to have working.
I understand that Motorola has pretty much killed off any hope of a fully functional jb but I only want a working camera.

Framework-res.apk & Camera Issues
No. I have tried so many themes and none of them have made a difference. I forget where, but I read an article that the image was in framework-res.apk. Any help? On a side note, my camera on JellyBean has been REALLY bad. Is that a result of unofficial drivers? If anyone has a fix for any of these issues, please please please contact me!
Thanks.

Sorry, my bad, I only just realized the theming engine cannot theme the lockscreen. It's a known limitation of the engine.
You could always decompile your framework-res, find and change the relevant file, and then compile it back...
Audio over bluetooth (Epinter CM10 20121011)
Hi guys,
I wanted to post this in the dev thread but was not able to do so as I do not have the required minimum 10 posts.
I am using Epinter's CM10 Oct 11th version. I am having a small issue with it.
I am not getting audio over bluetooth. Does anyone else facing the same problem?
I tried to un-pair and re-pair, reboot etc. But nothing worked.
It would be great if any one can solve the issue.
Thanks,
Trying to get to 10 posts so sorry if already mentioned...
On Jokersax latest CM10 build and have a camera issue as well, no preview of what I am taking, it seems to take a picture as I can see thumbnail afterwards, but cannot view the thumbnail or change location for default directory... Only bug I found so far, less than 12 hours testing...

Actually, that's a problem with all the lollipop roms that I have tried for the e970 (and most of the KK, except for some the MAKO based). Seems that our camera is quite difficult to please....
BTW dandrumheller, it seems that you have tried most of the roms out there for our device, which one did you find more stable? At the time I'm using the official CM12 with Solid Kernel and in my opinion is really good (except for the camera and the bluetooth address, which aren't dealer breakers for me). Thanks.

I actually haven't tried many of the Lp roms. Candy5 has been the most stable and battery efficient for me. Had some issues with bsod on beanstalk 5.0, though 4.4 versions were excellent. Blisspop has been quite stable, but uninspiring in terms of battery life. My phone hates solid kernel - tons of freeze and crash issues. In general I seem to have better luck with mako based roms. Have not tried CM12 yet.

Cool. I might try Candy5 and see how it goes. Thanks for you answers!
I'm having an issue where the contact names aren't showing up in the stock messenger, or gosms (haven't tried at other). The full number shows, but never the names. I've tried clearing caches and data on contacts and messengers. Tried resyncing the contacts from Google. I've double checked the privacy guard settings. Basically, I've searched around and tried everything I can think of, but still no luck! So I figured I'd ask the experts! Any ideas???
Ive noticed a few other minor issues. ...
I've had the problem with not being able to move the download, as someone mentioned above. Ive had to connect to PC, transfer from phones internal storage to the PC, then back to EXT SD card in the phone.
The 2/13 build does seem to be a little harder on the battery, and runs a lil warm (also mentioned above). I haven't had any crashing issues, but can feel the temp difference over the average.
Possibley related to the heat and battery issues; I noticed that there are two interfaces for the CPU/GPU clocking and scheduling, under the Performance section of System Settings. Maybe there's a conflict happening there? From memory, I don't remember the "Device Control" section being there in the previous build. It seems redundant to have both. Although Device Settings is much more robust, and I would prefer it be integrated instead of keeping the old, minimal interface. Some adjustments to Device Settings, while disabling the other minimal settings on boot, seems to have helped with heat and battery drain a little bit.
No problems with GPS, that I've noticed
Titanium Backup v6 has problem gaining root access in all cm12 ROMs I've tried. To fix, go to Titanium BU Preferences, scroll to bottom, select Troubleshoot Options (or something like that), and highlight/select the option to force the app to use the SYSTEM busybox, not the one baked into Titanium BU. Restart the app, and root works. Also worth mentioning is that you may have to enable root access under Developer Options in System Settings before any app can gain root. Otherwise, no issues with root, or Super SU.
Hi,
After using Beanstalk 4.4 for several months, finally I tried first LP based ROM BlissPop...so far it seem good, only couple of crashes in last week, few issues are present that are highlighted already (like camera panorama not working...battery life affected).
Since last couple days, the strange issue is being encountered, when i get a call, phone rings but there is no interface to receive the call, i then have to go to call screen and there it says "return to the active call" when i click, i get to the screen where i can receive the call. This started happening without any updates so not sure what caused it? I even tried latest version of ROM but same issue present.
Any ideas?
P.S: thanks to everybody who contributes to this excellent site, i have been a regular reader of the site but got to post something today for the first time.

Okay, it turned out to be a feature that some one must have activated on my cell (my little kiddo likes to tinker with my cell)
In App Notification section, Dialer was blocked and that was causing it to not show up whenever i got a call.
Its working great now

system control issue
I went through all 9 pages of the thread and didnt notice anyone else having this issue. In 2.2 under performance and then system control app when one goes to features and then vibration intensity it just force closes on me...is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions on what I can do to fix?
So I'd like to see what was being discussed in the normal thread for this great rom but the following link isn't working and since I'm a forum baby I'm not allowed to post in the grownup thread... Can anyone help me out with this? Does anyone check this side of the thread?

Also, the last build(the one before latest) ... The vibration control in performance>device control was fixed and working.... In the latest build it's broken once again and force closing every time I select it. Just wanted to mention in case no one is aware of it.
So if 4.8.15 is the latest build why does the ota update app found in the app drawer ask me to update to the latest version so my configuration will be appropriate for ota updates? Is there something specific I have to do in order for that feature to work properly?
Lol is this thing on?
In the latest build, was the performance tab in settings cut out of the build?

I reached out for him in his thread so he should be aware, but I got no answer back probably because I couldn't provide logs of the bootloop (my device isn't unlocked yet). If you got any logs that you could provide him, please do so either in his thread in the treble forums or his github issues page.

I think nearly every Pie Treble rom is based on this rom, so you got to wait for this one to get updated before the other ones also get updated. Most people are pretty happy with how they perform. We also need to get it to run first before he fixes device specific bugs, so if anyone can get him the logs of the bootloop, please do so.
Pontential solution
This may not matter anymore(given that the last post was from a while ago), but I manged to get the GSI's to boot by flashing magisk right after flashing the image. I found the solution in this thread.
Hopefully this helps anyone who comes upon this thread and needs help getting the GSI's to work.

May I asked which one you tried as I've been reading though them an they all seem to have one bug or another?

Sure! I have to mention that I'm not the most tech savvy, so I don't use these ROM's looking for bugs or anything like that, nor do I really read the forums for the GSI's(I just flash and try it out).
I've tried 2 of them: HavocOS and Resurrection Remix(currently using). Both are Pie GSI's. These are my initial impressions.
Both of them seem to work fine to me(calls, videos, data, Bluetooth, audio, etc.), but they do have a few bugs.
HavocOS's brightness slider is screwed up; scrubbing through it will give you random brightness values. All of the brightness values are there; they just seemed to be placed at random along the slider.
Resurrection Remix is 1.5GB, and you will not have enough space to flash any GAPPS(at least for me). To fix this, resize your system partition using TWRP after flashing the GSI and Magisk(go to wipe -> advanced -> select system -> repair or change file system -> click resize once -> flash GAPPS). Other than that and a crappy minimum brightness, I can't find any other significant issues(although I have not used it for very long).
The fingerprint sensor doesn't seem to be always active for both, which bums me out a little.
Other than those things, these GSI's are stable enough(take note that I have been using these GSI's for a short amount of time, so be careful), and the fact that they are Pie means that the camera should work(although the pictures are not too great).
There are most likely bugs that you may notice that I have not; like I said, I don't really look for bugs in these things. Sorry.

Did you just put the system image over the stock rom, or flashed the AOSP based roms first then system image?
The stock based setup is more stable while latter I can use gcam… But both are unstable with the network for me, I mean phone and the data connection

You should first flash a stock firmware using newflasher or flashtool, then flash TWRP. Then factory reset or format using TWRP, and flash the GSI(AOSP ROM) and Magisk right after.
Not sure what bootloops you guys talk about, but I tried 2 GSI ROMs on my XZ1 and both worked fine. Tried these:

Are you still using one? Which one do you prefer? Resurrection Remix seems to do it for me.
Yes, I still use RR. It has some annoying bugs, which were also reported by other users; BT sound only works with headphones and doesn't work with in-car hands-free device, scrollable widgets don't work, battery charging light doesn't work, auto-updater is broken, no adaptive lighting support. I think that's all, so ROM is pretty usable still.
Havoc has a serious bug with brightness (also reported by many users) - sliding brightness slider has 0 effect or works totally randomly, so it's impossible to set desired brightness. Which makes whole ROM unusable.

Thanks for the info! Scrollable widgets seem to work for me(using calendar right now). The battery light does not work, like you mentioned. Auto update is also broken. Can't really test Bluetooth car audio right now. I'm bummed out by the lack of auto brightness.
Do you use this month's build? I have January build, maybe they fixed widgets in February build after many complains...
If you can test and report car's BT later, that would be great... It's the most serious issue for me so far...

Yeah, I'm using this month's build. I'll check car Bluetooth later when I get home.
For context, I'm running lineage (19-20220824-NIGHTLY-dre) and this issue happens on every single camera app I've tried.
If I record a video let's say like a 2 second recording and then go to open that video the clip suddenly is an hour long with basically the entire hour being a single frame and the last 2 seconds being the 2 seconds I recorded. What's even weirder is the audio from the video plays during the first two seconds and then doesn't for the remaining time. Overall really weird and frustrating and I've spent hours trying to figure out what would cause this to no avail. Additional most gallery apps won't even open the videos recording and no pc can open them either. Any ideas?
Have you tried update Lineage? It's most recent update is 9/21 it looks like your about 4 updates behind. Not sure if it'll fix your issue though as I did not use camera while using Lineage and have since gone back to stock due to a display bug.
Edit: If you do want to update it SHOULD be fairly simple. You just go to settings>system>update and it should pull whatever the newest update it and install in the background. Note that even though it shouldn't cause any errors, there's always the chance it will so just be aware and ready.

Ah ok, sorry that's all I got. You could always submit a bug report on the Lineage gitlabs and hopefully someone gets to it.
This is why I stick to US OEM Stock rom.
I can de-bloat it and EVERYTHING works.

You got a debloat list or something you follow? I could go for that see if smooths stock a little when playing pokemon go.
I have the latest LIneage, with the same problem, and am completely lost with what it could be. Recording videos in Snapchat works normally, but the stock camera, GCAM, and the GrapheneOS camera all have this issue, probably because they all use the Camera2 API.
I encountered this problem today but the uploads on Google photos came out correct (when I 'free up space' )
I am having this issue as well, just checking to see if anybody might have discovered anything
Hey there,
Recently I have installed few custom ROMs in my LG V30+ Joan. In my stock ROM (pie) AOD automatically turns off in dark room or when sensor is covered like it is in pocket or something but in these custom ROMs, AoD is available but it does not go off when it is in pocket or covered.
I have also installed (currently using) lineage OS (official one) but it seems it also does not support this function!
So, is there anyway to solve this issue ?
And btw, sorry for my English!

Ask on the LineageOS thread to report bug/ask for features
As far as I know, AOD has never worked properly on LOS. I've always used the Always On AMOLED app from the Google Play Store, instead. I believe that it has pocket detection.

i recently discoverd that its AOD is working alright! After few seconds it goes off not like others custom roms (almost unofficials) that i tried where AOD kept alive even in pocket or when was in dark or sensor was covered.
Yeah, I saw that in the other thread after I already replied to you. I'm on an older LOS, so it's good to hear that AOD works on the newer ones and I may not have to continue using a store app if I update.
