So I found a few options. I was originally looking for launcher options to add Google swipe to right for news feed. I believe it's called discover. Not to sure. I found the hidden menu on the LG V20.
However, I came across a few cool things like the recents tab. I just don't know how to enable it. Perhaps someone who knows how these things work can show me?
Also has anyone successfully hidden the time in the right hand corner? I use system ui turner, after enabling options that I like, if I turn off the screen, the options no longer stick.

When you swing your finger down on android 2.42 you see that well known notifications menu. However there is a new tab called "Quick Access".
Devs dropped there what they imagine would be useful (their imagination always stops in a half way).
So is there any possibility to edit this menu?
I'm looking in the configuration menus but I can't find anything.
Thanks.
I've been a bit puzzled by the 'shortcuts' in the Note's (stock GB) camera app. You can only have four "shortcuts" showing and there's no way to change any of the other settings unless you change one of the shortcuts to the option you want to change, tap it, change it, then move your original shortcut back, assuming the four shortcuts you originally picked were because you wanted to change them frequently? Meh.
Am I missing something? Besides "use another camera app" ?
Bump, maybe someone knows now
I don't remember the details in GB but if it works like it does on ICS (samsung stock camera. I'm almost positive is the same) you can scroll down on the settings box and see all the different options.
By using the shortcuts you don't have to scroll all the way down for the functions that you use more often.

Damnit. Of all things, I didn't notice the Settings icon right in the 'shortcut bar', I was looking for something exposed by the menu button. Thanks!
I have been lurking on this site for a while. Let me say thank you to all the developers here, its incredible that you would take time out of your life to help other people with our miniscule problems that we bring upon ourselves.
Anyway I recently upgraded from cyanogenmod 9 to cyanogenmod 10 on my Samsung infuse 4g. In the 9th version, there was a section in the system menu for developer tools. In it was a bunch of options but the one i am concerned with is the cursor. Actually i cant recall what it is called but when enabled, it shows a little circle wherever the screen is being touched. I love that feature and i figured it would still be in the 10th version but i cannot find it. I dont know what to search for to find information so i had to create this account and ask.
Okay i was playing with the settings and i found this.
Settings - Lock Screen - Slider shortcuts - drag the dot to a new location - activities - Dev tools - Pointer Location
but when i lock the screen and then unlock it and slide the dot to the icon, it just brings up a kind of app. the one in CM9 was global and it was different, it didnt track the touch, just showed it...
found it (?)
okay i found how to enable it but its hidden like a *****
Had to set Dev tools to the slider icon, then save, lock the screen, unlock it, slide to the dev tools icon, and the developer options is THERE. WHO PUT IT THERE?! How were we supposed to get to it? The dev tools contain many useful features. I use the long press back key kill app feature, and some people might use the max background processes to free up memory. You can change transition animation timing, and lots of other things. IDK why they hid it away on CM10 unlike CM9.
Anyway thats where the dev tools are. Question answered, maybe it will help someone else.

Go to settings - About Phone - And press on the "build number" for 7 times.
You will get a message saying "You're now a developer" or something.
And the Developer Options menu should be available in settings.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm hating the double swipe for quick settings on my new android L device, it really takes the "quick" out of it, and the double finger feature really doesn't work for me on a tablet. I'm looking for a built in "quick settings" activity or something else to accomplish this using Apex Launcher gestures instead, so far not found anything. Does this bother anyone else? Or does anyone know what the Quick settings activity is on android L before I look into custom ROMS already

The two finger swipe works fine here, and I'm really liking it, but wait for xposed and you should be able to get the way you want
Smashed down on the mighty Nexus 9
Doesn't bother me. Nova launcher has gestures for it
Another perhaps obvious quick settings question here. Is there a way to access WiFi settings directly from quick settings? In Kit Kat, you used to tap the icon for settings, hold for toggle. In Lollipop, if I tap, it toggles, and if I hold, it does nothing. I have to tap the Gear and then go into the WiFi menu from there. Not very quick
Tap on the word Wi-Fi rather than the icon, and then it goes into settings

Thanks! Knew it was something super simple. I will give it a try when I get home.

So if Nova has a shortcut that works in lollipop, there must surely be an activity it calls! No idea how to find out what that is :/ I'm a massive apex launcher fan and it does have a built in "quick settings" shortcut, but that doesn't work (yet?) with lollipop.
Hello fellow Android users.
I've always been obsessed with customizing the functionality of my devices to make it really practical to use.
I've been playing with the settings of the Xiaomi Redmi 9 for a week now and everything is set to perfection except one thing which is not available in the default settings but would be incredibly convenient, not only for me but for many people too.
I set all the apps I use in one single home screen (not multiple pages). The ones that don't fit there are all in one folder and that uses up only one button slot.
Since I don't have multiple pages for the apps, the swipe left and swipe right functions are available for other useful things, I'd like to set that up to be shortcuts to apps that I use a lot, like whatsapp and gmail. This would also free 2 slots in my home screen.
I suspect there's a way to do it, just don't know how and have tried several google searches like "how to assign left and right swipe functions on android home screen" or "how to customize left and right swipe on android home screen" and many other similar combinations of words. Found nothing.
Does anyone know if there's an app or a mod that allows you that level of customization? I'm a video editor and I'm not very educated in programing android apps or anything similar.
Hope someone can give me a hint. Thanks a lot in advance. Greetings from Barcelona, where many of us are locked down and unemployed :cyclops:
