Currently playing around with android emulators and despite my best efforts some apps are blocked.
These applications include:
Textnow.
2nd line.
Nord VPN.
Pokemon Go.
Obviously these apps are detecting that the app is an emulator despite the phone number and imei being changed. So is there a method for getting around these blocks maybe rooting the phone using magisk or am I fat out of luck?

HI guys,
I'm going to go of my rocker, my Boss has a SGS 2 international version. He also has grand children, which he can never say no to when it comes to playing with his phone. So long story short I always end up cleaning games and crapware of the device, I've tried software from the market that "locks" apps but if a 13 year old can bypass it... Which is easy to do cause sometimes you just have to switch the device on and off to do so.
Thus this brings me to my question, how can I effectively block the play market and games hub app's without rooting? Also we are not a big company so I don't have the means to setup device administration and so forth. Please any suggestions to sort this would be very much appreciated!
How about the app: "Smart Lock Free" look it up, It doesn't require root permissions.
That's the app I'm referring to in the post
Your options are going to be severely limited if the phone isn't rooted. If it were me, I'd root the phone, remove the Play Store/Games Hub/etc, unroot it so the kids can't completely bork the phone by accidentally deleting something. Problem someway to being solved.
That will solve the market problem. Honestly, you're asking something that's going to be almost impossible to stop if he insists on letting them play with his phone. There's nothing stopping them installing apps from other sources if they're smart enough.
Tell him to buy them a 2nd hand dumb phone each (yes, I'm serious).
More and more games lately have become a grind, involving hours on top of hours of gameplay. I have no issue with playing a few reps on a game, except I don't want to be on my phone for that many hours every day because I fear for its longevity. So I try and play these games on a few Windows emulators (Pokemon Go, Toreba) but find they won't start. I know both of these apps check for root because I had to set up Magisk hide for both on my phone but the emulators are not rooted, so I can assume the apps are checking for emulation and stop running.
In short, what I'm trying to say is, is there a way to hide the fact that I'm using an emulator from these apps?

Don't use an emulator. Boot up remix OS in persitant mode on a USB with some extra space on the USB and see how you go. Technically it's a fully fledged Android. Emulators are a severely stripped down version and mainly use a secondary kernel which utilizes the VT functions of a CPU which arnt Ideal in your case
Hello!
I've recently purchased what I thought was a feature phone with long battery life, the Vodafone Smart A9 (VFD 120) for the purpose of putting my "home" SIM card in while I travel. Surprisingly, this phone actually runs Android! Albeit a very locked down version of Android without Google Play Services. In hindsight I probably should've purchased a different cheap phone and turned off data and location to get a similarly long battery life, at the time the price of $49NZD ($32USD) didn't seem like a bad idea. For the sake of interest I decided to try and sideload an application onto this phone, it seems like a decent companion to take hiking as I lost my last phone off the side of a mountain.
I've tried a few things to sideload an app or gain some sort of privileged access to the phone. I haven't really been up to date with the Android Hacking/Dev scene in a good while as my personal need to root has diminished greatly in the last few years.
Things I've tried:
Enable ADB in Developer Mode by pressing Build Version a bunch of times. Unfortunately pressing Build Version does nothing.
Look for settings to enable applications from other sources. This doesn't exist in the security settings.
Tried installing an app from the file manager. This doesn't work either.
Boot into recovery to do "anything". The phone shows up in ADB as "Unauthorised". There aren't any settings except a bunch of hardware tests and factory reset.
The device only has OTA updates but I imagine that even if I grab the file and spoof the download URL with a modified ROM, it wouldn't pass a hash/signature check.
Is there anything else I could realistically try? I'd just like to know if I've missed anything glaringly obvious.
Thanks for taking a look at my post!
phone is now 13nzd from harvy norman did you ever work out a way to load apps
If Android device is Wi-Fi enabled and has browser installed, you at any time can install an app from one of the several existing app markets: Google Play Store isn't the only one though it's highly recommended to use it due to security reasons.
Hi I was wondering if You could tell me how to boot into Recovery mode for this phone.
New to the forums. I just installed WhatsApp for the first time and was able to get chatting with certain people only. Afterwards, I just logged in to desktop whatsapp and uninstalled it on my phone only to realize I can not use it without having it installed. Is there any way to trick WhatsApp into thinking the number associated with the device has the app? How would I even begin to fix this issue?
Try with an android emulator, may have a bit of better luck. Install WhatsApp on the emulator and verify it with your phone number. I haven't personally tried this, but this should work if you need to run any mobile app on your computer you can use this method.
Hi guys,
So I have a Galaxy S7e that was choking up until I bit the bullet and flashed the Note 7 FE ROM. Trying to finally start using Titanium again I rooted using Magisk. However my banking apps stopped working complaining about root..
I hid magisk and specifically hid it from the banking apps as well but no go.. Today I updated magisk to the latest version and noticed that 1 out of 2 worked again. What's surprising is I could not find the place in the new app where you could pick what app to hide root from anymore.
I seem to have read that in 2016 Magisk's dev said he would not do that anymore so I'm a bit confused.
Anyway would love to know if it's possible to hide again. The app is Juice by MCB (Maybe without spaces, available on apk-mirror as I think it's downloadable only from Mauritius)
Thanks!

It's a common misonception that people think "root" can be hidden. Even installation of Magisk now is detected by Safety Net. The cat-and-mouse game continues ...

Well like I said 1 of 2 of the apps that did not work due to root are now working so I guess there is some hiding going on.. the cat and mouse game feels quite rigged and MUCH slower than 'back in the days' sadly
