I bought a Book Cover Keyboard (German QWERTZ layout) and I have experienced an issue with physical keyboards (Book Cover Keyboard or Bluetooth Keyboards).
On some websites (for example overleaf.com or repl.it/languages/python3) I can't type the right brace "}" using the standard "Alt Gr"+"ß" combination.
It's not caused by the keyboard since in most Text Boxes it works, so it has to be some kind of software issue (I also tried multiple browsers).
Has anyone else experienced this?
Whom can I contact to fix this?

Bought my Prime yesterday. On the dock, the keys for "@" (Shift+2) and " " " (Shift+') are mixed up. That means to make the "@" character appear, I have to press Shift+' rather than Shift+2. I'm wondering if this is a hardware fault or a software one and if I should take it back to the shop. Thanks.
i have the same problem the lay out of the Keyboard is UK but the input to the Tablet is US style. i have check the Keyboard setting and it defiantly says UK keyboard so kinda stuck the same as you
Are you using the stock Asus software keyboard? Those keys can get put back to the US layout if you use other software keyboards, for some reason.

Click to collapse
Yep. same for me. (UK)
So not hardware fault I'm guessing? I'm sure as soon as custom ROM's come out, that can be patched up (I hope). I was concerned it could be a physically swapped keys.
Same here, installed Thumb Keyboard, and dock keyboard became US (AZERTY french initially). So have to select Asus Keyboard as default to have dock correctly configured...
Hello all,
I just unpacked my brandnew prime. When booting up I could use the trackpad during the initial install, but the keyboarddock did not work. When finished with the initial install, I could not use the dock keyboard (except for the trackpad) in Android. In the lower right corner there is an icon for the dock (and the prime is charging through the dock). When I select a textbox, there is an additional icon (a keyboard icon) in the lower right corner, but not a single key (not even the top row) works...
Am I missing something or is this dock broken? I have hard reset the prime several times now and undocked and docked several times and am out of options.
Does anyone know of a fix (other than return the tab for RMA/refund)?
Hi
Go to Settings - Language & Keyboard
Verify that Asus Keyboard is set as default keyboard.
Hello Pnoire,
I have checked that the asus keyboard is the default. I have also tried setting the android keyboard as default. I then get a message about the hardware keyboard not being used. I tried toggling between the android and the asus one several times, but all keys remain dead. When I loose the mouse (happens after I change the keyboard), I can get it back by closing and opening tablet + dock. The keys remain non funtional however.
Hi dannykix
I don't know what you can do, now. It could be a hardware problem!
I contacted Asus support, they indicated that it is most likely hardware related. As I just opened the package the tablet is returned to the supplier as a DOA. I hope the new one arrives a bit faster then this one.
Case closed.
Can someone suggest to me a good keyboard app? I just need one with prediction for virtual, and for hardware keyboard, i'm italian and we use a lot of accent, and is really useful to have prediction on hardware too, because it automatically corrects my words without holding letters to have accent.
I already tried:
-Swiftkey3 (but there are a lot of known problems with shift and fn button, they didn't fix yet)
-TouchPad v4.... (No prediction and auto correct for hardware keyboard)
-TouchPad v5 (Prediction works for hardware, but 'sym' button doesn't works and it type a space instead of show me the list of special characters)
Let me know Thanks
I found this keyboard while desperately looking for one that would show suggestions when using the hardware keyboard.
This one does, and it also got swype while having a size of less then 500 kb (without dictionary).
It has also got the ability of changing the hardware keyboard layout. Strangely it is enabled by default, so my azerty became a qwerty when using that keyboard. (I didn't know apps could take over a hardware thing???) You can turn it off in the settings -> physical keys -> remap keys. You can also change the hardware layout yourself by changing the 'language keycode' in the same settings pane, however I don't know what you should enter (qwerty is the default at 204).
you can find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kl.ime.oh&hl=en
There are some quirks, since it is a beta.
For instance you can't type a web address decently, as it will always put a space behind a dot (unless you turn off 'insert space after swype')
Also, It will by default use auto-correction on password and log in fields, which you can also turn off by deselecting 'always predict'.
I almost forgot to mention one thing: it's by fr the fastest keyboard I have ever seen. Even after coldboot, the keyboard will popup instantly after hitting a text field.
thanks bro
finaly an alternative to swiftkey I'll test that
Good work!
Nice! Thanks!
Hey fellow TAB S4-users,
I (a student) have owned the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 64gb LTE and the official keyboard cover for a couple of months now. But I have one very annoying problem with the Keyboard/ Samsung Dex software that persists. I have bought this keyboard in the French AZERTY-layout, but because I'm a student of Japanology, I have to use Japanese input very often. When I switch to Japanese input the keyboard switches to a QWERTY-layout with no option to change the layout for Japanese in Samsung Dex. For instance, if I want to type "kazoku", I have to put in "kqwoku". It is certainly possible to adapt to the QWERTY-layout because only the letter "A" and "Z" are switched to respectively "Q" and "W" and furthermore the letter "M" is switched to the key for ",". But what I strugle the most with is that the interpuction on a QWERTY-keyboard is completely different. Furthermore the Japanese script doesn't use the same interpuction as the latin script . For instance, if I want to type the "。" (the Japanese period), I have to input on my AZERTY-keyboard ":" (on a QWERTY-keyboard that would be the key corrsesponding to ".").
If I've searched far and wide for a solution to this problem, but I have not found any. In Windows 10 I encountered the same problem, but was able to fix it by changing the layout for Japanese IME to AZERTY in the registry. But since their is not a similar thing to the Windows Registry in Android/Samsung Dex, I was wondering if I their is a possibility to change the layout for Japanese Romaji input ?
Thanks in avance,
Kaï
