I managed to encrypt my phone. How do i get rid of this encryption? I don't find anything on how to do it. Flashing this DFE treble doesn't do anything. Before the encryption, modules like yt vanced were working but now nothing is working
decrypting will delete everything on your phone. Just format data. Dont wipe it go format DATA. then flash DFE.

what recovery are you using?
---------- Post added at 01:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:06 AM ----------
Make you sure the setting "Use rm -rf instead of formatting" is disabled then format cache, system, data and internal storage. For data you have to literally Format Data and type yes to confirm for encryption to be removed then flash dfe.

twrp 3.3.3
ah ok you meant the other data where you have to type yes. Is there a difference between deleting storage and "yes"data? and won't that delete my recovery too?

nope. It wont delete your recovery as it only deletes data. Basically it removes everything on data which includes encryption. deleting storage only removes whats in your storage not within the data.

Hi,
I 'm looking for a way to completely wipe what is on my phone
I still have some traces of old unused apps folder
And also some rest of secondary rom boot on my /system partition
Do you think i can delete this secondary folder without issue ? (see attached)
Any method to have a clean phone before flash would be appreciated
To have cleen phone just format sdcard0 ,
save your ROM .zip file to external sdcard to flash it after wiping everything "data+cache ... etc + sdcard0 "
---------- Post added at 12:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:40 PM ----------
I think that .secondrom folder is created when you did a dual boot ,If have just one ROM then there shouldn't be any problems after deleting that folder
Hi,
For the secondrom i foudn a way (which is what you suggested also)
22. "How do I remove everything related to DB and run single boot again?"
A. In recovery, under dual boot options - "delete 2nd Rom". OR Delete .secondrom directory in /data/media while on 1st Rom.

Format sdcard ...soudns instersting ...will doubleck to be sure that i have all stuff needed to flash roms/restore my data
Does this somehow impact a rom flash ?
So deletion of the secondary folder, format sdcard0, wipe factory / do all the wipes / format system and flash rom/gapps ....and i'm good to go ?
edit : Look much cleaner ...Thanks !!
I'm unable to flash anything through internal storage,, I'm simple not even able to access it through twrp after i clean wiped and flashed latest lineage rom!pls help me! :crying:

Did you format to F2FS? It's not widely supported. Use EXT4. No need to reboot.

I had the same problem, fixed by doing a clean MIUI (or any other ROM) install and installing TWRP, just after the ROM, without reboot.
You may try http://en.miui.com/thread-344450-1-1.html
This will install patched TWRP I got many errors with this. So the first method is preferred.
ok so i recently changed my lockscreen pattern( which as you all know is also the encryption password) and forgot it . So after switching off the phone whenever i tried to turn it on it is asking for pattern to decrypt the phone.
Since the phone does not boot up no other password recovery method works(tried aroma file manager and password recovery zip also)
. I tried opening twrp but there i cannot mount the system parition without decrypting it first and for the very same reason i am unable to copy that data on my internal storage to my sd card or computer.
so is there any other way to open the phone without data loss (other than formatting the phone)
p.s-The files inside the data folder are also not aceesible so i cannot delete the password file .
I AM ON LINEAGE OS 14.1 WITH ZCX TWRP
Format data from recovery
Not wipe of data
Format data
But you loss every thing in internal memory
No harm to external sd card memory.....
---------- Post added at 12:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:02 PM ----------
If you want to backup internal memory data in reboot to recovery and connect to pc it enable mtp mode and copy you internal stroge data
Note : above method only work with twrp not stock recovery

this method of copying internal memory via pc also dont work bcz internal storage is encrypted so its not visible even after enabling mtp (only sd card is visible)
yes i am using twrp

Do Check out this https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/forgot-your-pin-pattern-maybe-password-solved.496906/
will definitely help
Search for swiss army knife for android and flash the decryption zip the problem will be gone
This is so annoying thing for me. Every time when I want to use TWRP because of encryption I must format /data. Is there any chance to avoid this step? I want to have TWRP but I have no OTA. So, I need to download ROM, enter TWRP /data and always from scratch. So idiotic
How to not format /data and still have TWRP full operational?

Hint: OrangeFox does not do*anything*(eg, encryption) to your data partition. If your data partition is encrypted, it is normally something done by your ROM. Sometimes it depends on a setting in your ROM's configuration - but some ROMs force encryption by default.
Which doesn't solve problem

Format your data, install the OrangeFox zip again (because formatting data will have wiped the internal storage - which includes OrangeFox's files), tick "Disable forced encryption" in the OrangeFox settings, and install your ROM. OrangeFox will remove the forced encryption settings in the ROM that you have just installed, and you shouldn't have a problem with forced encryption with that ROM.
Let me say i think i have messed up stuff, i want to dirty flash miui rom but with wiping all everything besides data and internal and external, what partitions should i wipe? twrp screenshot would be nice

And other then that you can wipe cache, dalvik cache and data partition.
Data partition wipe will wipe your apps and app data. Nothing else on internal will be deleted
