Hi, how I can prevent my EVO 3D from re downloading purchased apps from market after factory reset?? its taking for ever and some apps I dont want anymore so its useless re downloading everything
Open your market, press menu, then press My Apps. It will show all apps being downloaded, look for a "STOP" button on the upper right portion of the screen and press it.
thanks for your reply, will this stop them for ever or they will resume after a phone reboot?
The way to keep them from even starting is to skip the sign in to your Google account on the first boot. If you skip that, you can go through the settings menu and uncheck the auto backup/restore feature, then go and add your Google account.

Try going into Settings/Privacy and then Uncheck Backup My Settings, and Automatic Restore!
Has anyone had any issues registering within the ChatOn app? I am able to get my verification code via text msg (which is automatically filled in and skips to next step), but when I enter my name I get an endless "Waiting..." progress meter. (Trying to register through the website only refers me back to the app.)
I tried this over LTE and wireless without any success. I did notice the keyboard icon in the notification bar, and the notice says "Ongoing: Select input type" (or something similar), so I wondered if it got stuck on that step somewhere. I do select my keyboard there (Swiftkey) without any result.
I've also tried using the default Samsung keyboard, but same thing.
Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the app?

Yep, I did that a few times. But I forgot that this is no longer an issue. Shortly after posting the thread, the I was able to complete the installation.
I've since disabled the app. I was under the impression it was a catch-all messenger, not that it required setting up on other peoples' phones too. I really just wanted to have something that I could both MSN in general and BBM my sister (who's stuck on BB).
Thx
So before, when I would swipe up to Google Now (Google Search), it would bring up my cards and show me everything and if I wanted to, do a Ok Google to do a search. Now when I do that, it only brings up voice search, meaning talk or type what Im searching for. I went back to a previous version and it worked fine. Upgraded and did the same thing. If I launch the app directly from the app drawer, it brings up my cards like its supposed to. Any ideas? I am running Jasmine 4.0.
Thanks.

-Select Now cards
-Delete card preferences, Delete
-Press Back
-Accounts & privacy
-Google Account
-Sign out
-Sign back in and it will now prompt you to use Now cards

Sounds like somehow the default got selected to something else. Can you go to settings, apps, menu button, reset app preferences and then Swipe up, select Google now and always.

Thanks tried that and no avail. Works once then happens all over again.
Think it might have to do with the Xposed module Im using for it. Saw another person in the G3 Toolbox say they were having same issue. Just not seen a fix yet.
We have some Note 4X Phones in use. Generally, we are satisfied. But this daily and recurrent notification, which is showing in the status bar (in the drop down notifications), is not acceptable.
Of course, we have disabled all settings in the Updater App, which are possible for disabling.
As long as the 8.5.8.0 is not as good as the 8.2.10.0, and as long the 8.5.8.0 has bugs, we are not able to update. Therefore it is no solution to do what the Updater want to do. Also all solutions which require a rooting are not practicable, because due security reasons, rooting is not allowed.
Try this, go to settings>apps>Updater>Show notification and disable all possible

Ah ok sorry I did not read, then try disabling the data network momentarily, then in the update settings, deselect auto update, then go to the applications and empty the updater cache.

ALL Buttons and Switches in "Settings>Notification and Status bar>App: "Settings">" are disabled. Except the first one setting "Show Notifications", because this one is not selectable (it is faded out).

Thank you very much for your help.
Unfortunately, I have already disabled "auto updates" in the "Updater App". But this was no improvement.
In the meantime I've tried a second setting, but also without success:
I'm here: Security App - > Data Usage - > Restrict Data Usage - > System. Here I've disabled the "Updater App".
But all Apps here are listed in the column "Mobile". Now, this means, the disabling only works during a mobile data connection. Therefore, the disabling will not valid during a WLAN session.
The second indication is, that in the following path: "Security App - > Data Usage - > Restrict Data Usage" there exists not only the menu "System". The second selectable menu here is "Installed". Under the menu "Installed" there are listed many apps. And here are exists two different columns. One column is called "WLAN", the other column is called "Mobile". And all apps are listed in both columns. The reason is that the users have the choice to restrict data either for "WLAN" or for "Mobile".
But the bad thing is that in the menu "System" there only exists the column "Mobile".
Now, how can I restrict the data for the Security App also for a WLAN connection?
But as I described above, anyway this solution also doesn't work - if anything, than only with a mobile connection.
But principally, the aim isn't to restrict data, the goal is how to avoid the notification of that stupid "Updater App"?
Has anyone a working solution for me?

Were you able to find any solution? I am facing this exact issue and it's really infuriating
Force stop the app and dismiss the notification
And don't open the update settings again
You could try disabling the Updater application with ADB.
Get ADB & fastboot here from XDA from this link, install it on a computer.
Then, enable Developer options. Go to Settings -> About device and tap MIUI version a few times until it says they've been enabled.
Now go to Settings -> Additional Settings -> Developer options and enable USB debugging.
Connect the phone to the computer, type 'adb devices' without the quotation marks and make sure the phone is detected. The phone will pop up a notice to confirm you trust the computer.
Now, type 'pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.updater' without the quotation marks. This will disable the built-in Updater app, removing any notifications coming from it.
This does not require root.
Just use Titanium Backup and freeze Updater app.
It will not show anything until you run it manually, or you restart phone.

This is the best solution, it helped me.
You can map your back button with long press to force close any app. If you mapped it, just open updater and long press the back button. It will close updater app and dismiss its notification. It will only come up again if you manually open the Updater app again and search for updates.
Also its not necessary to map the nav keys
Just hold the app window from recent apps view to get app info and hit force close button at bottom.
any one tried xezrunner's solution? any good? I hate this notification crap that mi has foisted on all of us.

On my phone, the 3Gb Global Version, some MiUi app can't be frozen, including updater.apk (MiUi 9.2.1.0).
Coming back to this topic, I made a backup of the aforementioned apk with Titanium. Would it be safe to uninstall it completely or should I go the ADB route? I'm asking because the case happened to me once with another phone where the system wouldn't be the same despite the backup-restore by Titanium.

You could uninstall but make sure to backup it first in case you run into some issues, personally i'd just freeze it. (it will appear as uninstalled until phone restart)

When I click freeze in Titanium, nothing happens, the app isn't marked as frozen and stays available. I tried to freeze with other apps as well but always ended up with the same unsuccessful result.

It wont run unless you run it yourself which unfreezes it. Dont tell me it doesn't work because i do it all the time and no updates show up.

correct me if im worng, titanium backup freezing function only works if you have paid version.
Maybe you don't have that.
try it with some other app like Lucky Patcher, that app isn't primarily for freezing aplication but it have option under tools to freeze packages. Just be careful to not play around with other tools if don't know what it used for.

Sorry if it were out of topic, but I'm wondering whether it is possible or not to edit the build.prop (for gcam} through adb on non UBL and non ROOT Redmi Note 4
Download button on stock Gmail app not working. On Oreo MIUI 9, it was working. Then when I updated to MIUI Pie 10.1.3, it was also still working. But when I factory reset my phone, the stock Gmail app won't let me download anymore. Even when updated, the download button still doesn't work.
I tried unsyncing and resyncing my Google account. Even deleting cache and app data, and it still didn't work. The only other solution that I haven't done yet is uninstall the Gmail app itself, but that's not possible since the Gmail app is already built in. And I need to root my phone so I can uninstall built-in apps. But I want to avoid that method as much as possible. Maybe there's a workaround?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you so much for the speedy reply.
Permissions are already enabled. I can attach a file to an email and send it, but I can't download it. The weird thing is, I can only allow storage access for one time only. When I try to click "don't ask again", the option "allow" cannot be selected. I can click allow to access storage, but only when "don't ask again" is not selected. Maybe that's the issue?
Here's a link if this helps in explaining my situation better. Just put https://

OK then, did you install any app lately that uses screen overlay (display over other apps)?.. If so, then It may be the reason why this allow button is dimmed.
Just go to Settings -> Privacy -> Special app access -> display over other apps
and turn off permission for this app that may cause the problem.

When I factory reset the phone, the download button was already dimmed. Which means I haven't installed any app yet. That's why I was wondering why the download button of gmail isn't working, because pre-installed apps usually work okay right after a factory reset.
I did your suggestion and switched off "display over other apps" for all apps that's listed in there. And the download button still doesn't work.
Another thing I noticed is that when I click the attachment, the the three circles on the upper right corner, "Save" and "Save All" are also dimmed. Only available options are "Save to Drive" "Share" "Share All" and "Print"

I think that the issue is permission to write to storage. Search how to enable it via adb and try it.
EDIT: Have you installed a SD card and if so, are your downloads directed to the SD card? Try changing it to the internal storage.
