I've had the S6 for a week now and tried out the video aspect and thought I had it.
Two issues:
In practise, I can zoom in/out while "vidding" (is that a word?) but when I tried to vid a hockey game, it would not let me. Don't remember the exact error but it was something like "Cannot use this feature (ie zoom) while in this mode".
Huh?
Second issue was quality. The rink and surrounding ice/stands was crystal clear but it was very difficult to identify the players/number on their jereys--not really blurry but very dark. Because of the white ice? They did have dark uniforms with white numbers. I thought that white balance was only for still pics (it's on auto BTW). Is there another setting to use while videoing? I had it set to 1920x1080. My camera has a clearer "person" in the video but has a more grainy surrounding ice surface (with lower-1080-resolution).
Is it because it's action shooting and not a static pic?

Anyone figured this out yet? My kids love the funny face effect but we can't seem to figure out the background effect. You choose one and it says to get out of view and put the Prime down. We've done that but when you pick the Prime back up to shoot the effect is only shown where the picture is dark or black. I don't get it. It's really no big deal but my kids love stuff like this.
Set up the prime where it can stand by itself (set it up where the background isn't moving). Then turn on the effect. Stay out of the view of the camera. Then go back into view after it displays the Image you chose on the screen and record yourself. Its not actively fun because you cant use it and see it at the same time. It acts as a green screen though. So its fun for music videos or little plays.
Edit:
You can also put it over your own videos in the pick your own video one so you could make a face to face with yourself video.
Also shadows will be interpreted as new objects and in turn not be "Green Screened" so pick an area where the is minimal shadows.
Thanks, I'll give that a try tonight.
attaches pic shows a carpet. it looks blury and kind of filtered - but i haven't selected one. all settings on "0", highest resolution and so on.
anyone has a hint why?
It seems the HOX+ has strong noise filters... that means if you take a pic in very dim light it will not show much noise but it will look a bit like a painting
both (noise and strong noise filters) is not good for picture quality, so your pic would be nothing in any matter... take a pic in good light, there the quality is very good for a phone... And I don't know how much your sample picture has been magnified....
btw: why did you take a pic of your carpet??
thanks for the answer. i took the pic in dimmed light, max zoom. even faces are pixeled like that - but i don't won't to paste my wife here
how can i disable the noise filter? i like most features of the camera - but good light isn't always possible.

Zoom is just digital zoom, so if you take a picture at widest setting and copy the inner part out of it on your computer does the same... digital zoom is crap, but only way today on smartphones...
you can't do anything about the noise filter. try another photo app, maybe it handles pictures in a different way - didn't test it until today so I don't know where the processing does take it's part...
i had google camera 4.2 on my desire hd - what was a very fine app. but my hox+ isn't rooted yet (2 days old) and i like the fast picture option.
thanks for your hints
still not lucky with the advertised "best camera" - qualitiy is so pixelated :/ on my desire hd all was nice and clear.
is this a software or a hardware "bug"?
comparing "normal" with "camera pro" i have 990kb vs. 4.5mb
normal:
pro-camera:
took max. resolution, no filters or other changes.
maybe someone can show a pic from his hox+
it's frustrating.
thanks for your help

Has someone experienced "dancing blacks" with vertical or horizontal scrolling, specially in low bright settings?.(40 or below)
I have purchased an EU ver. Of V30 and i experience this behaviour every time i do scrolling with photos, desktop icons with black contour (like netflix) webpages with black lĂnes or blocks... Or everything containing black colour.
When i move the photo, scroll across website... The part that contains black colour seems to dance on screen, it's hard to describe but it's something like jelly effect, the black part of the object, photo... seems slower and doesn't scroll accordingly. I went to a local store to check it on another unit and discard a faulty one and i saw the same effect.
Regards
That's the feature of all oled displays, nothing you can do with it except changing the brightness to the level it doesn't show any signs of this "violet trails"
i have that behavior too on my H930DS. no solution yet.
The phone regulates it's brightness through PWM, so that you don't have the same issue like on the g flex where the whole display got blurry and grayish when you turned the brightness down. Because the display shuts itself on and off many times per second (222 times according to a German review page), you see that when you are sensitive. Just set the display brightness higher, then you should be fine.
Hi guys,
as the title said I am experiencing a glitch with my phone. The good news is that it occurs only a few times a year but I was wondering what's happening here. The side effect only occurs when I turn on the screen and vanishes on the next screen turn on. When I try to screen capture this it results in a "normal" screenshot (i.e., the side effect isn't visible). Clearing the cache doesn't seem to help. Here is the video (https://youtu.be/vZ0cBGjlBlM). Photos are attached bellow for a sharper picture because YouTube downgrades video quality.
If some of you didn't notice, the background photo on the "grayscale" image is the background photo I attached below (what should the phone actually be displaying).
Thanks for your help!
Hello. I have a question regarding the display of dark grey at low brightness. Noticed this using the google web page in dark mode before going to sleep with all other lights dimmed or off.
I also noticed some burnt in segments of the screen like nav bar and status bar at the conditions described above.
I am attaching the dark grey filled image I use to distinguish the problem. Can you please test it with your S21 in dark conditions and fullscreen and tell me if you see same noise and smudge-like artifacts?
I must say I tried to go to BestBuy and Target to compare it to other S21 by myself, but obviously it didn't work because there are too many light sources in the store and it's too bright to see that.
I also tried to make a photo of what I am seeing in completely dark room, but obviously it's less informative compared to human eye.
Thank you.

Maybe I am not very discerning but screenshot_* shows no anomalies on my S21. The file_000 however does have a visual imperfection. It's the file itself and not the screen because the "smudgy" area moves as I scroll and grows when I zoom. So it's an artifact of the file. It does have some subtle grey coloring.

The File_000 has anomalies because it's a photo of a screen producing artifacts, when the Screenshot is just filled grey and should be clean of any artifacts on a healthy screen. I must say when I open the Screenshot using gallery and in fullscreen, and try to move it left or right until previous or next image border shows in the gallery, I can see the artifacts and smudges remain static because it's screen defect but the image (screenshot) is clear of any imperfections. Thank you for trying though.
It is normal since a few years, Xiaomi since the Mi 8 and has it Oneplus since the 8 series and now Samsung.
It has something to do with the newer generation panels.
