Hi, @ante0 , @Pretoriano80 and everyone else!
Been lurking on these forums ever since mate 10 Pro was released, but due to being one of the folks to downgrade from emui 9 to brick I had to take my phone to service for board swapping as I wasn't in a situation to do the testpoint fix myself.
Now, I'm looking to get the bootloader unlock code again and to my surprise even the 3rd party sites are down.
There's a guy at minstryofsolutions that offers bootloader unlock code using testpoint but he asks for 40$ + access to pc for 2 hours + refuses to describe in any way what he's doing to the device and why will the device end up rebranded + new imei and with it new bootloader code ( Obviously device in that condition can't be taken into a Huawei service center) .
So, upon searching and trying to find if anyone had found a way to unlock using testpoint I stumbled upon this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m5/how-to/downgrade-unbrick-huawei-device-methods-t3915693
Op and several others seem successful with downgrading their devices and using dc unlocker to get the code once the security patch is no more.
Op even mentions that for kirin 970 it's probably the same process but I haven't seen anyone sharing their experience doing the same on 979 devices.
Couple users are having issues as well and while op was quite helpful he and several others that were helping out seem to have been gone missing. There's a guy helping out with issues regarding this process but it seems rather finicky when even after doing all this and flashing with dload certain parts like lte modem remain present on a WiFi only tablet.
Does anyone have passes for easy firmware or dc unlocker firmware database? Is anyone willing to give these a try and see if the process will work on our devices or if it will ask for verification of some kind for images being flashed?
It looks quite promising, so if anyone has a bricked device ( Maybe someone that was refused at the Huawei repair center during the wave of downgrades ) would you be willing to give it a try?
I've got no tools, no passes and no other device to use while playing with this.
Obviously, I'm not asking for you guys to go out of your way and brick the device so I can know whether this is a viable option or not lol.
Just thought about sharing and seeing if anyone more knowledgeable has anythiny they'd like to add to this as a tip or personal experience trying this method.
This might be what we are looking for when it comes to unlocking device / downgrading to lower versions.
Hopefully the post I linked helps someone, in case anyone has experience with this please share as well!
Anyways thanks in advance!

You can as I've done it.
Use testpoint (this will void warranty as you have to remove back of the phone) and flash bootloader files from DC Phoenix, there are several Kirin970 to choose from but only one should work. DC will tell you when phone is in fastboot mode after flashing.
Then I used IDT (Image Download Tool) to flash board firmware. Boot to board firmware and used HCU to repair imeis and all that. Then used HCU to get an unlock code. After this flash dload firmware back to Oreo (needs to be a new dload because of updated bootloader).
HCU fix guide for BLA:
1)Flash oeminfo (own backup) from fastboot OR dump existing oeminfo using adb pull (adb pull /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/oeminfo) then flash it from fastboot.
2)Backup modemnvm_system, modemnvm_factory and modemnvm_backup using adb pull from a command prompt (/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modemnvm_system and so on)
3)Flash backed up modemnvm_system, modemnvm_factory and modemnvm_backup from fastboot
3)Modify and brand with HCU in the CDMA tab (check everything but those that erase/flash empty board) (remember to fill vendor and cust)
4)Unlock sim 'Direct SIM Unlock'
5)Read Bootloader code if you ever used HCU to get code before or if you need unlock code
6)Download and flash Oreo service firmware from androidhost.ru using a OTG cable and a memory stick. Pick the latest Oreo one you find for your cust
If you fail to do any of the steps above you will end up with no IMEIs or 'No Network' and/or Sim lock
So you'd need: DC/HCU pass and unencrypted board firmware (gem-flash and easy-firmware has them but they're paid.).
I have not tested using DCs own board firmware.

Thanks a lot!
Will any of this process leave bootloader unlocked / relocked along the way?
I'm experiencing screen burn in due to outdated firmware and was gonna get the code, apply new adhesive I buy online and have them replace the device's screen + seal it properly in the process so the water resistance remains - kinda essential to hide any signs of tampering like bootloader unlock '-' ( 2nd burn in on Oreo firmware now, both happened within few months of the device running old firmw )
Thanks for the guide as well!
I'm not completely sure how to do the whole process yet but I'll try getting all the software I can right now and try figuring it out.
One question tho, do you have any screenshots you can share of which firmware will work out of those several that you mentioned and is there any possibility of brick by flashing wrong xload, etc.?
I'm on 8.0.0.156 c432 and was gonna drop to 142 or 143 - will have to check which one is the latest without security patch.
Glad to know this is a possibility! Will order the tools required for this and when / if I'm successful I'll create seperate thread under guides as there prolly are peps still trying to unlock.

I doubt that the burn-in is because of the old firmware, probably the oled panel it's getting old.
You should do the other way around, first send it to Huawei for a display replacement and then get the unlock code.
The procedure it's not really easy and the water resistant part it's the last of your problem, first you must make sure that you don't break the glass back cover when you open it up. xD
Probably Huawei's repair center won't even bother to replace the display only, but they will replace almost everything, so you would endup with a locked bootloader again.

The display literally burned in couple months after I boguht the device and and we still had the emui 8 only. Replaced it and switched to the 9 the same month. All was good for a year or so untill they replaced motherboard. Now the same thing all over again, few months have passed - literally 2/3 months and the screen burned in again at the same spot - navigation bar.
The opening part doesn't look that complicated, was thinking of buying a heating plate, heat phone to 120°C and go back and forward cutting adhesive then heating the phone again. Should be fast and efficient this way.
The finicky part that I'm worried about has to do with bricking the device or shorting the motherboard in some way '-' Maybe service also uses some repair stickers that aren't present on any of the guides and will get dmged when I open the device - after all, I took the device for repairs under warranty at least 5+ times by now
Last time for the replacement they indeed replace almost everything - display, battery, back cover, new frame - essentially a new device w same motherboard.

Also, if they do replace stuff the code you get through DC will not work.
It works by modifying some strings in the oeminfo partition, so if they were to wipe and reflash everything your code would be lost.
If they replace motherboard you will need a new unlock code.
There is a sticker on one of the screws you need to remove, so they will know you did open it anyway.
Bricking is no problem as you can unbrick using testpoint. Shorting shouldn't be a problem. I tried all the visible points and only 1 or 2 actually send current back so USB devices in computer restarted xD But none of them shorted my phone.

I see on pictures online that there are some points exposed with the shield on. Will take a look at picture you posted earlier for testpoint location to determine if indeed you can access it without removing the shield - hence not touching the stickers you mentioned - ty!
Wdym by losing dc unlocker code tho?
Does it not read the bootloader code of the device - meaning after they wipe / flash their stuff I can use the same code again to unlock via fastboot?
Or can it not read the code and just modifies the nvme files or whatev inside the partition to allow for a custom bootloader code?
Thanks for all the info! Will go look now for the picture then decide whether I'll open before or afterwards depending on the position of test point.

When you use HCU to get code it writes stuff to oeminfo, replacing 2 strings with "DC-UNLOC". So that's used in calculation of code. If you flash back stock, unmodified, oeminfo after using HCU you won't be able to use the code it generated.
Testpoint is located under the shield, so it's not possible to get to it without removing the shield. I have my phone with shield on infront of me. And I can't remember which screw had the sticker on it. If it's on one of the corners I guess you could try to bend it up to get to testpoint.
I just can't understand why the won't release the bootloader unlock at this point? The phone is now 'outdated' and old.... where is the harm?

Thanks but I'm still having hard of a time following ?
After you use hcu it modifies the oeminfo to get strings it needs for calculations - You get the code aftwerards and your oeminfo is modified, right?
What I don't get is how flashing stock makes code unusable tho?
Is it not original bootloader code we'd get if Huawei site was still up? That code should be usable even after all modifications were reflashed with stock, no?
Or is it a custom code that depends on modified oeminfo to work?

It's a custom code. If you use HCU to generate a code it invalidates your stock code. If you flash back stock oeminfo you can use the code Huawei gave you but not the HCU code (until you use HCU again to generate code).
Iirc on Kirin960 (and probably below it) you can use both HCU and stock code, so it uses another way of generating it I guess
Has anyone tried this approach for a MATE 10? or would you recommend it?

Yes, of course, I meant through test point. Do you know of any good step by step guide on how to do it? I want to try it and post here my results, if everything goes well I hope everyone ditches huawei software.
Also, I have searched around for options regarding ROMs, does anyone recommend anything in particular?

Yes, I know the method) and have long written instructions on another forum with the permission of my teacher.
Decision made
On Huawei Mate 10 / Mate 10 Pro /, you can get the bootloader unlock code using a testpoint. But you need to have a programmer such as MRT / SIGMA / HDE / HCu-Client

Hi all,
Wishing you all a happy New Year in arrears and the very best for the next 12 months.
I've got a problem with my device, its a STF-AL10 model with international rom bought during the November Sales.
It came with STF-L09C432B150 installed, I got the bootloader unlocked, TWRP installed and rooted with Magisk and was working fine except the capacitive buttons.
I thought I could live without capacitive buttons but I didn't work out and I had the urge to find a solution. After some intensive reseach (48hrs on a weekend in my 'lab') it seems the B120 firmware had no issues with the capacitive buttons, so I tried to downgrade to that and thats when the problems started.
Coming from an ancient Sony Z2, I never had issues flashing ROMS, Kernels and the sort as it was almost always easily done in TWRP or CWM (I had a Multi boot thing going, so I chose which recovery I fancied!). Anyway this are my issues now:
- Obviously, my phone was rebranded at origin as I know for sure AL-10 is not for EU market
- I tried restoring the same STF-L09C432B150 (rollback package found on XDA) with DC-Unlocker (wasted 19 Euro) but did not work. Always stops at 5% near end of flashing.
- Tried B130. same error.
- Tried Chinese STF-AL10C00B110. Same error.
- Tried full board flash for STF-AL10 with all DC Phoenix files. Same error.
- Tried forced method with files on a Sandisk SDcard (64GB) formatted to exFAT. Fails, wrong files.
- I noticed that in ADB, it said my bootloader was unlocked but FRP locked.
- After board flash, ADB said Bootloader unlocked (nothing about FRP) but in Muli-tool it says LOCKED.
- Now all ADB commands the write to the phone give errors.
DC-unlocker support keep on saying I should use the correct firmware for my phone, ok but the phone was rebranded at source...do use a Chinese firmware first then update ?
in desperation I did another full board flash but this time I think I wiped oeminfo and Vendor partions. ( I think this is what caused the HARD-BRICK!). Now no Honor logo, no Recovery, No eRecovery, nothing but a blank black screen. ADB still works but no status about bootloader or FRP.
IMEI has changed to 0123456789ABCDEF
You can all laugh and shake your heads which I will take as my punishment but is there a solution to all this, I'm willing to pay another 19 EUR for DC-Phoenix if it helps to fix my phone and if possible get it rooted with all buttons and functions working. That was my intension all along (I'm not really interested in custom Roms, just root access!).
HCU tool for some reason does not install on my computer, and besides, the phone does not boot into an OS to be able to change OEM and VENDOR data.
I even tried the HOTA.zip in the ReBRAND HONOR 9 thread but the file is missing (link down).
And to top it all there is no UK service center.
Please advise...
I think DC unlock is not supported for thì this model. Did Did you try Huawei Funky???
Apparently all versions of Honor 9 are supported by DC-unlocker and DC-Pheonix....

Try stock service B130 firmware:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/stf-l09c432b130-capacitive-buttons-100-t3729106
Instead of step 4 do forced upload: VOLUME UP + VOLUME DOWN + POWER
Hi,
I've managed to re flash b150. In doing so I got back recovery and erecovery but when you reach that final stage of the process the phone stops at 5%. When I reboot to recovery, factory reset stops at 35%
Any ideas

FRP status is not only on Chinese phones
you need to sew firmware for al10
The phone was rebounded by the shop I bought it from.
It said STF-L09B150 indexical info when the phone was working.
So if I'm going to repair this brick what update files should I use?
Original Chinese or the b150 used when rebranded?

Hi all,
FYI, I've sent the phone back to the shop I bought it from.
I'll take my chances, better than paying money for something that may not work.
Thanks everyone for showing interest in my situation, I let you all know how I get along with this issue.
Ps.: As a community, lets push Huawei/Honor to release Kernel Sources for this model and others like the P10 Plus.
Ps: Huawei/Honor have to realise that a strong developer community adds value and desirability to a product. That's how a product becomes 'Cool' translating into more revenue/customers/profit - eg OnePlus.
.
Hi all, a quick update .....
Sent the phone back and from what I gather the phone actually had an issue with the main board.
Now enjoying a brand new MATE 10 (Non-pro with 6/128gb) in beautiful Obsidian black.
Wonderful.
Back in december/january some users reported a glitch while rebranding STF-AL10 to STF-L09 with the old nougat hwota (at oem bin flashing step).
After editing hwota script, then rebranded : they ended with a FRP locked status.
Their only way to unlock frp was with dcunlocker or funkyhuawei I don't remember.
After frp unlocked, their bootloader wasn't seen through fastboot.
I think this could be solved by regedit a value in registry.
To my knowledge the only public firmware files working with the dload way (3 buttons + usb connected) are the one titled "service repair", the others one won't work dload as they are. They are for hwota or forcing "official" ota.
A week ago I bought a Huawei mate 10 with box, was second hand but the aesthetically was new, even with their stickers. The seller did not indicate that the phone had gone through a process of rebranding. Just when I get to my house look for a way to update it and I realized that I did not get the updates by OTA watching the version of the cell I realized that in compilation only appears System 8.0.0.38 (O2YJ) and not as usual. ALP-L29C185 for example. Searching the Internet I found out about everything that is the process of rebranding and what happens to my phone is that the person who did the rebranding did not complete the process, because in the end you have to flash the firmware twice and only once did , is there any way I'm going to do this flash without paying funkyhuawei? Since buying a package of 6 credits to only use one seems ridiculous. No matter if it is an advanced tutorial, I have years experience with Android and Xda Thank you wholeheartedly really need ota updates i have One of they first builds. My original phone model are alp-l29 So I think he rebrand did it to give him IMEI As it was probably a live demo model u.u

Is bootloader still unlocked?
If it is this is a lot easier.
If not you'd have to use DC-unlocker/HCU to get unlock code, then you can rebrand manually to your desired cust.
I think you need 4 credits for that, which is $4 and is a lot cheaper than FH.

Power off phone, hold volume down and plug in usb c cable from computer to phone.
It will enter fastboot mode and should say "Phone unlock" and hopefully "FRP Unlock".

You can get unlock code then through HCU-client (dc-unlocker). It's the only way to get unlock code, but price is only $4 (4 credits) compared to FH which is $40ish.
After you have unlocked phone (from fastboot, 'fastboot oem unlock ##unlock_code##') you could use TWRP by Pretoriano80 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/development/huawei-mate-10-pro-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3769904) and HuRUpdater (https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279) to finish rebrand (If you know the intended cust), or use HWOTA to rebrand again to your desired cust (HWOTA: https://mega.nz/#!oeATEQQb!qiP3mYlQQgZYlaS3dbY_QCwNJ-urTKyLQ2zKOA9KP8g).
I have lost instructions to HWOTA though, but it should be doable with the command prompt instructions.
If you're unsure about what cust the seller was planning to rebrand to you can dump OEMINFO from TWRP (Advanced -> Terminal -> dd if=/dev/block/platform/ff3c0000.ufs/by-name/oeminfo of=/sdcard/oeminfo.bin )
then transfer to computer and open it in a hex editor. Then search for the string: 'BLA-', and Search for next until you find one which has Cust in it (For example: BLA-L29 8.0.0.127 (C432) says mine at second result.)

Well, apparently they do not support my model (which is the X10). Their tool can only detect the phone, not unlock its bootloader
Well, Nokia/HMD wants to have their phones and tablets deadlocked, and 8.3 is my only and final Nokia Android phone.
No more.
Good Morning,
I have arrived at this thread looking for how to unlock the bootloader of my Nokia X10/X20 for later rooting it.
It seems that there is no way to do it.
To do Root I have found this link (is in Spanish): https://www.ayudaroot.com/root/nokia/como-hacer-root-al-nokia-x10/
The option «Enable OEM unlocking», comes in gray and is not accessible, with which I have not been able to apply this solution.
I have found this other article: How to Unlock Bootloader on Any Nokia Smartphone.
Someone has tried?
If the answer is affirmative, does it work?
If nobody has tried it, do you think it can work?

Nope, the "buying unlock bootloader keys" (I meant the thing in the "How to Unlock Bootloader on Any Nokia Smartphone" article, the official way also does not work anymore, due to the site is dead) way does not work on the Nokia X10/20 (the creators of those keys confirmed with me that it's literally impossible to unlock those phones and potentially any future Nokia phones).
The "Enable OEM unlocking" should not be not accessible, my Nokia X10 does not have that option greyed out.
About the tool used in the Spanish site? I'm not so sure about whether it will work or not. The tutorial video shows a different phone, but it seems so legit. Try it at your own risk, I guess.

Good morning,
Thank you very much for the answer, but I inform you:
My phone is new, just arrived from the provider (Nokia directly).
-Modelo: TA1332.

I have not modified anything, and I assure you that the «Enable OEM Unlocking» option, is gray and is not accessible.

In the article, not in the video; It refers to a Qualcomm chip, but requires that the "Enable OEM Unlocking" option is unlocked.
Three questions apart:
1.- Is there any way to root this smartphone?

3.- And is it to restore the ROM?: [Tutorial] How to use Miracle Box / Thunder to flash firmware to Qualcomm devices

Apparently, the creators of the site that sells bootloader unlocking keys for Nokia phones said that you should ignore sites like the Spanish link, because those websites write similar content for every device that exists and just replace the device name and publish it again, then again for another device. But I guess you can try using it and see, I guess?
For the first question, I don't think you can root the phone with Magisk? You need some files inside the ROM file, but there's no ROM files for Nokia X10/20.
For the second and third question, I do not know if the tool even works. I do ask the creators of that site (again), and I quote:
I don't think they will work. The only way to trigger EDL on the device would be to disassemble and then short the testpoint to trigger EDL. But what next? What do you aim to do while in EDL mode?
We do not know which bytes are written on the chip that remembers the unlocked status. So, even in EDL mode, there isn't much that we can tinker and re-write to the device. I am also unsure if the user firmware that hmd ships to the Nokia Care includes EDL programmer, they never did for the Nokia 7.2 (the last Nokia device I really tried to play around with). Without the programmer, none of the EDL flash tools will work and we can't load just any programmer. It has to be signed by the OEM. A wrong/invalid/modified firehose programmer can put the device into a non-recoverable state.
HMD hasn't done much magic into making the phones more appealing to the buyers. But they have money and time to make more mess behind the scenes to make their devices more secure (which they think is better).
Sorry for the rant, but there's no meaningful ways to unlock the Nokia X10/20 and possibly any forthcoming phone.

In conclusion: It's impossible, but you can try? (Try it at your own risk of course, you could brick the whole thing, and nothing will fix it.) I do not even know if it's possible or not, so... eh?

Also, next time you buy a phone, just go buy a Samsung/Xiaomi or whatever brand that do support unlocking their phones' bootloader and pray that the phone you bought in the future got tons of custom ROMs ported to it or something, Nokia thinks that locking their phones' bootloader will make those phones more secure, which is purely bull****. If you ABSOLUTELY have to buy a Nokia phone however, go buy an older one, cause the site with unlock keys only support those old phones, and it might be impossible to even unlock new phones coming from Nokia in the future.

Thank you very much for all the information you have given me.
It has no solution, I bought an X10 and an X20, because they have Android One and will have updates for 3 years.

Wait, you bought both? Well, if you're trying to root them, then too bad, it's literally impossible. But if you're just using both phones normally, I would say: They're actually pretty good! The specs are great for medium gaming, the build quality is really nice, the cameras are not bad honestly. They're slightly overpriced, but they felt nice enough to use daily. Too bad Nokia ruined these phones with the bootloader unlocking problem though, and I swear I'll never buy a Nokia again, cause of this problem, even though they might be one of the best phones I've ever used.
Good evening,
I have tried to do what they explain in the article in Spanish: https://www.ayudaroot.com/root/nokia/como-hacer-root-al-nokia-x10/ and it has been impossible to do anything.
I have found the following problems:
1.- The option "Enable OEM unlocking", comes in gray and is not accessible on the smartphone.
2.- You can not extract the "boot.img" file, because at the link that explains how to do it: https://www.ayudaroot.com/actualizar/alternativa-para-conseguir-la-rom-de-un-telefono-movil/ do not explain how to do it for this smartphone, which is "Qualcomm", not "MTK"; with which it is impossible to extract it.
3.- The "Qualcomm" and «ADB» drivers that are installed with the application are not worth connecting the Nokia X10 to the computer, I had to uninstall them so that the computer itself detects the smartphone.
4.- You can not unlock the bootloader in the way they explain it, so nothing can be done.
5.- The video of the end still confuses more, it is not for this smartphone or a similar one.
Therefore, the item is not useful.
Better forget it and not waste time.
Greetings

Hey brothers , am a random guy looking forward to get my brand new Nokia x10 soon. And according to all paragraphs I read above it seems the main thing I need from this device apart from daily usage is inaccessible which it ""unlocking the bootloader"* But am not totally sure if it's still impossible because it's almost a year since you're conversing and it seemed to be impossible according to what I've looked at in your Conversations. Back to the topic- I got a Nokia service-center in my area here so I need your advise if I'll be able to take there the Nokia x10 and they unlock the bootloader "Incase I buy it" on their end because there have access to everything I assume whereas they're working for Nokia but it looks risky for me to get a device before am sure if it'll go up with what I need from it.......In conclusion if any of you knows a method to unlock the bootloader currently "because it's almost a year when it was impossible". You may advise me before making the mistake I'll regret. Goodnight
Just a quick heads-up.

By the way, to root without readily available stock firmware, first unlock bootloader, then boot a pre-rooted GSI with DSU Sideloader, pull stock boot partition from there, and finally patch/flash it. This applies to the Open variant as well.

Chatting with OnePlus hasn't yielded anything so far
Just a tip, because in my infinite forgetfulness I wasted an hour last night trying to figure out why I was getting the error, fastboot could not open target HAL.
Remember that you must request the unlock code from fastboot, not fastbootd. Which is what you will boot into if you issue adb reboot fastboot.
So here's a quick step by step.
1.Enable usb debugging. 2. Connect your device and allow access for the computer. My device asks if I want it to charge or transfer files. Select transfer files/Android auto and then use adb start-server. May have to unplug the USB cable and reconnect. Select "always allow this device/PC".
3. Issue "adb devices" to make sure your connected.it should list your device by it's serial number. If not then try unplugging the device and revoke adb authorizations in dev options and toggle USB debugging off and back on, may even need to reboot the device to get it to connect after doing this.
4. If your device is listed under devices go ahead and issue "adb reboot fastboot"
5. Once rebooted issue "fastboot devices" and make sure the device is listed again.(If not listed make sure you have your driver's installed correctly and fastboot is installed correctly, may need to install Android SDK into same folder as fastboot)
6.You can select English or whatever language if you want but it doesn't seem necessary. You are in fastbootd mode you will see if you DO select a language.
So from here issue"fastboot reboot bootloader" device will reboot and you will have scrollable option at the top beginning with a big green START at the top. This is regular fastboot And where you wanna be to get your unlock code for submitting to Oppo for your unlock token.
7. Issue "fastboot oem get_unlock_code"
8. It should return the info you need, you will also need your IMEI number when submitting so be sure to copy that down.
you can copy and paste the unlock code into notepad or Word and delete out the extra stuff so your left with just the two lines of your unlock code as one single contiguous string of numbers.
8. Go to the link listed by OP and submit the required info. And wait for what seems like forever.
ADB/Fastboot commands-quick recap.
1. adb reboot fastboot
2. fastboot reboot bootloader
3. fastboot oem get_unlock_code

Simply "adb reboot bootloader". You won't need fastbootd until GSIs (which I already did ofc).
Thanks, definitely a quicker way to get to fastboot. I guess I wasn't sure if you could reboot directly. Seems maybe I was confusing an older device where you had to reboot to fastboot then "fastboot reboot fastboot" to get to fastbootd for a whole different reason.
This one goes directly to fastbootd when you "adb reboot fastboot"
Nice catch.

Someone mentions extracting the boot.img from stock image and flashing it. I would imagine it should work for you if the stock firmware can be found and circumstances are similar. Maybe at least a start. Wish I could be of more help, maybe someone else can chime in that knows more.
Try Linux, maybe a live dist. if your on a windows machine that won't recognize it just to get it into a state that you can work with it again.
Just an idea, I don't want to steer you wrong as i still have a lot to learn

Fyi according to a recently made friend who also had the 7 digit serial issue, they were told by OnePlus their dev team is working on an OTA update that will resolve the serial number issues. I'm not sure how that's going to work but I saw the email between them and Oppo support
I guess this must be a widespread issue that they feel is cheaper to invest the amount of money it takes for r&d to come up with a fix than it was to replace a few devices or attempt to do remote repairs.
But this also makes me wonder what avenue they will take to correct the issue.
Also I wonder if someone with the right skillset could gather enough bootloader unlock codes along with the unlock tokens, serial, IMEI, pcba etc.. maybe the algorithm their using to generate the codes could be broken. I'm no crypto expert or math genius either, but if we have the variables to the equation minus one but have the answer, isn't this pretty simple almost pre-algebra?
I mean I guess their not worried about enough people being brave enough to give out sensitive info like that. But maybe Im just ignorant of the complexity of these algorithms.
64 digit key on one end
T-Mobile bought sprint and they have T-Mobile sims no. But I understand that sprint is still a somewhat seperate company (tried to buy a T-Mobile phone and it would not activate on my sprint account. So I bought this from the sprint side of the T-Mobile site so I knew it would work but I assume this is a sprint phone and not a T-Mobile phone so this method would not work.
Can anyone confirm this?

So, before i do it, would deleting the modemst1/modemst2 partitions still let me bypass the t-mobile sim lock and let me unlock the phone like it did on the old oneplus phones?
Flashed a patched boot.img and lost modems. Anyone willing to post the modems? Are they device specific like a device partition?

I recently bought an LG V60 from one of the ebay sellers which has the Dual Screen kit included. All seemed fine almost like new but the back panel has a small gap on the left side corner with a very small scuff on the AL frame near it. I want to send it to LGE for repair / diagnostic service want them to check about the battery status and overall condition. They are gonna charge $30 and Shipping is on me. They will re-flash the phone with latest Firmware as I was told by a rep in the live chat. I like this phone as It has a lot of tech which is useful like Dual Screen, 3.5mm jack, SD slot, 64Mp, Pen support, Bootloader Unlock, solid community knowledge and more.
So my questions are -
Once they Reflash the phone to latest OS, it is running Android 10 out of box (I did not even check the OS but it should be that and I did not unlock Bootloader yet) so it will be updated to Android 13. After doing that can I still unlock the bootloader and install all the nice things like Magisk + Rootchecker disabler + Downgrade the OS to 10 or 11 using LGUP and TMo official firmware ? I presume LG does not deploy ARB (Anti Rollback) from what I read in the past month but I want to check with community who is knowledgeable enough with this device.
Will that also re-lock the Carrier ? I have TMo sim only anyways but just curious if this will lock the SIM too.
Please share your experience with LGE or anything related to the subject.
Thank you very much for your time.

Greetings.
I recently bought an LG V60 from one of the ebay sellers which has the Dual Screen kit included. All seemed fine almost like new but the back panel has a small gap on the left side corner with a very small scuff on the AL frame near it. I would just download the latest firmware from the link below, and do a factory refurbish with LGUP.Just make sure the bootloader is relocked is the key.Sim unlock wil remain in place,as long as they send you the same device back with the same IMEI number.I assume when you get it back,it will have A13 and you may have to downgrade it to re-root etc. You're good, just do those main things!

Thank you very much for your reply.
Hm, so if I understand clearly. Basically I may need to downgrade the firmware to A10 and then re-root once I get back. And the SIM unlock might not be effected. That's good to hear.
As for the initial aspect you mentioned which I bolded, what do you mean by that ? Did you meant I should get the latest firmware and and just do a refurbish option from LGUP, may I please know what would that achieve because even if I flash / unlock bootloader the LG Service center will restore it to the factory settings and then perform a diagnostic, thus wiping everything on the phone perhaps they will even lock the bootloader.

I mean don't send it to LG with an unlocked bootloader. They can refuse to repair it,and consider it tampering.Plus, they can still charge you a diagnostics fee as well.LG stop supporting bootloader unlocking past the v40 series for developer purposes is my point. For the firmware,it won't matter what build you refurbish it with.Once you refurb it the root is gone anyway.Just relock it,and pick the kdz of your choice and refurbish.Box it and ship it!You'll be good!

Understood now.
Just a small clarification from my side. The phone is not yet bootloader unlocked (it's locked right now), it's just running Android 10 stock firmware. Just SIM unlocked by the ebay seller. I did not even use the phone yet.
And once they get the device they will re-flash it to Android 13 build and then do the diagnostics. I think I should be good ? As in no need to just Refurbish because it's already running bone stock A10.
Once I get it back I will downgrade to A10 and unlock bootloader ?
Thank you again for your insight.

You can go to A10,A11 or A12 once you get it back. That will be your choice from there. You can still root and unlock the bootloader with the current files that's been posted in the forums. It's stock, just factory clear it and send it on it's way. You're good!
Got it, thanks a lot.
I will send this phone to them directly as-is with the A10 and hope they can fix the issues with it.
