A couple of times per day when I swipe to turn on my phone this annoying ad from Duracell starts to play and I can't figure out where its coming from or through which app. Its only audio, no video. This just started a few days ago and I have NOT added any new apps to the phone in weeks. Anyone else having this issue or have an idea where its coming from? Thanks

I would suggest a factory reset before you find anything worse than that ad.
I've noticed this on a test phone when I had Kingo Root or something similar installed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingo_Root

I bought an Archos 43 a month ago and I think it is defective. For example, it crashes about 5-8 times a day for no reason. The camera does not work very well, since it crashes and saying something about codec when playing the video I just recorded. When left alone, it starts doing random things to try to crash itself. After enduring this thing for a month, I finally decided to system restore it and when I tried to install the Third Party Applications it says that there are none to install. So Now I do not have Android Market Place and this device is pretty much useless. Does anyone else ever have this sort of problem, cause I doubt it?

Mine has only crashed once in a week. However many apps FC making them unusable. I.e. The XDA app

The camera is awful! I've noticed freshly recorded videos don't play but if you wait a while they do play. Bad.

Mine doesn't do that but it drains the battery alarmingly fast when left alone.
Mine is running firmware 2.1.4, I haven't root'd and I did install Market via gappsinstaller

Can't say that I have but I am considering a complete wipe and restore in an attempt to improve battery life.

Yes, marketplace is installed. I followed the directions found in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867303'
I am pleased to say it appears to be working just fine. I haven't noticed any apps missing.
Ok I got marketplace reinstalled. Now it sometimes flashes the home screen randomlly, so I had to reboot it. Afterwards it works fine. However after a certain amount of time it starts flashing the home screen again. I think this thing might be possessed.

Yeah, I spoke to Archos and they was like wtf haha.
I have had the SG2 for 5 days now and love the look and feel of the phone, but I am having a few problems with it.
When playing "Guns n Glory" and "Robo Defence" after about 5 or 6 minutes the screen freezes. I have to press and hold the home button and go into task manager to exit from these games before I can restart them, only for the same thing to happen again.
Also, I use wireless tethering during the day with the phone on charge but about every hour or more I lose tethering on my laptop although the phone still shows it as working and also shows a good charge. The phone is not rooted.
Any advice please.
Regards
Could anyone kindly have a go at playing an intense game to see if they have a problem with the screen freezing up after 5 minutes please. I only have 2 days left to sent my phone back if it is just mine with the problem.
Thanks for any help.

If it's faulty, you have at least 28 days.
In fact there's a 6 months rebuttable presumption that if a fault is discovered, it was present at the time of delivery.
Don't worry about the 7 days distance selling thing. That's only if you've changed your mind but there's nothing wrong with the phone.

Thanks for that.
Its just that I am not sure if it is faulty or if it is the fault of the game software. I have not seen other reports of these problems from other SG2 owners.
havent had any of these problems
been playing drag racer, tap fish, robot unicorns attack and robo defense
yes i have had the screen freeze in robo defense, i figure the program just crashed. clicking the home button got me back to android.

Thanks for that. It seems that only the game freezes and not the phone. Like you said, a press on the home key allows me to go to task manager and close the game.........but does not save that level
Today I tried playing it without touching the edge of the screen and that seemed to help.

Same issue here.
They've been doing a lot of updates with bug fixes and maybe they changed something that's causing it to hang since it's listed as one of the games that worked from an earlier post
also try out grave defense HD. I'm liking it much better than robo defense so far
I think what you are seeing here is a two-tiered issue:-
1. The Exynos & Mali are new and certain Games will have issues. Eventually these should be sorted either by the games developer or Samsung.
2. As you know Games go through period updates. Sometimes these updates are for the better but then there will be the occasion fixing a bug or bringing in new features will cause issues with certain phones.
Basically let the games developer know of the situation and if required send them a LogCat of your phone whilst playing the game.

I too have been having game freezes on my s2. Robo defence and guns and glory as the first poster said. also noticed cut the rope v1 at last box freezes alot. had my phone for almost a month, and have pushed these freezes aside as like most of you have said, most likely app fault. However im beginning to wonder if it is the phone. Its starting to become a trend. ie i get some games and some of them will freeze... really scared atm.

At least for robodefense, it runs solid without sound turned on and same goes for handful of games. Also based on the description for robodefense, it sounds like sound issue exists on atrix as well.
Cut the rope has been rock solid but I haven't reached the last level yet

Yea, on further reading, game developer for dungeon and dragons said it may have to do with a unstable sound system in the galaxy s2... Just got off the phone with samsung and they said that its got nothing to do with them..... looks like we'll just have to wait. Or play without sound.
Atleast i other people are having problems, so i guess its not just my phone.
Any of you have a problem with accelaration sensor after game freeze? Does your screen auto rotation work?
Not all of Google Play just the web client.
Since the last update it is horrible. I used to go on there just to update my apps but I can't do that anymore. When I click my apps it takes 2 minutes to load the page and then gives me a bunch of apps that I may or may not have installed at one point over the last 4-5 years on ever device I have owned.
Anyone else figure out a solution?
Wow the web client does suck. I never really use it much. It use to be better.

A review of this was covered on Android Police a week or so ago. seems like a lot of functionality disappeared from the web play store. i dont think there is currently a solution. I think i read somewhere that they had restored a certain function a few days after this update, so maybe previous options will be slowly rolling out. but who knows. if people complain enough, maybe google will revert it
I purchased the G3 on release date and was excited when I got time to test it out. YouTube happened to be one of the first Apps I tried and I found that it took quite some time to actually start a video up (this is with 3-4 bars of Verizon 4G LTE) and when it finally did start it would only play for about 2 seconds and then start buffering again...this happened continuously for a couple minutes until I got frustrated with the buffering (pausing the video and trying to let it buffer didn't work either) and decided to close the App.
I have had the phone for about a week now and for some reason if I open Chrome on my phone and go to the YouTube website, videos stream without issue, but I'm still having problems with the YouTube App. Is anyone else experiencing this as well? I asked a rep at the Verizon store and was told that so far I'm the only one at that store.
YouTube
Same here, having the opposite problem of most everyone else, streams fine on Wi-Fi massive buffering on LTE.

A lot of people have had problems with recent updates to the youtube app. Many confirmed that changing their dns to a different dns server fixed the problem. However if the problem is on LTE I do not know if this is possible. Just trying help hunt down the source of the problem.
Sorry, I meant that the YouTube app itself doesn't work with LTE. but when I use my internet app and go to YouTube.com with LTE videos play just fine.

YouTube App
Yeah, its an off problem. Streaming via the app over wi-fi works fine for me, when I'm on LTE there I'm seeing an inordinate amount of buffering.
I assume its the app, I haven't tried streaming via the web but that seems like it should be an unnecessary work-around.

Its rather unfortunate as it is a great phone but some minor flaws are putting quite a damper on being able to fully enjoy it. My battery life is horrible too...apparently the amazing screen is too much for the battery, which drains while just sitting in my pocket. Hardly using my phone throughout the day I end up having to put my phone on the charger as soon as I get home. Meanwhile a friend of mine has the G2 and is able to brag about his battery life.

After a bit of adjusting I managed to get home after a 8 hour shift and light phone use with 51% battery left.
Things that have worked bes for me on two different phones:
Turn off WiFi if you are walking around a lot.
Turn off location reporting by network discovery! Leave it at GPS if you need location info. I have been testing this for over 6 months on a galaxy note 3 and I find very little battery use this way.
Disable all the Amazon crapware. You can keep on the Kindle app if you need to view off files.
Obviously watch screen brightness. I have mine on manual.
Turn off the shortcut keys on the volume if you keep it in your pocket. Several times mine turned on by accidently and I got a buch of great burst shots of my pocket!
Hope these help..
install an older version of YouTube ~5.5-5.7
I know on this phone and others as soon as YouTube updated to 5.7+ it started to buffer all the time... likely an issue because it detects verizon... however, switching back to an older version allows me to fully play videos on 4G LTE with no issue. So I'm running 5.5 and it's running flawlessly... and while there could be newer features, it is just fine for me.
Edit: this method worked on my galaxy nexus which just retired ... changing versions I the g3 hasn't made a ****s-worth of a difference. Still buffering every 4-5 seconds.
Hi, has anyone had any popping, crackling, or skipping when listening to music? I get it about twice to 3 times per hour when listening to spotify or local music. There was one time in particular where i was listening to music, when opening the recents menu and opening a recent app caused a serious crackling distortion.
Should I return my phone?
Side note: have tried safe mode. Crackling still occurs. Have tried repeating the same file. Crackilng does not occur at the same time.
Second side note: on version 119. Phillipines has no updates beyond that.
Mine does it too. This phone has more bugs than a bush tucker trial!
Haha. Yeah, it does. I've also have had apps randomly open sometimes and another music player play for a few seconds when I press play on Spotify, then return to spotify. I'm planing to try and have my handset exchanged tomorrow at the store. Hopefully they will.
I do believe this phone has really great potential, if only it wasn't so buggy.
Had too sometimes.
However, I think problem is Oreo, not the phone!
I want to believe it's oreo, since everything else on my phone works great (minus the hiccups mentioned above). No wifi or reception issues. Not even sure I want to get a replacement and do a lottery again.
so glad to see its not just me. phone is terribly buggy. settings turning on and off. sometimes after being on the phone for like 5 mins, the phone locks itself. sometimes without me even touching the phone eg when im watching youtube with it propped up on my desk. has anyone who exchanged their phone actually received one that doesnt have these issues though?
whats up with the blue light remaining on in settings when you turn a setting off? UI nightmare
Hmm. This makes me think we should run a poll so we can identify the common issues everyone is having to rule out hardware issues.

A lot has to be with Oreo as these issues don't exist in other Huawei phones. Also i wonder if some of these unreleased roms that folks are using have bugs in it compared to the official roms received via OTA.
