Hello guys
I'm planning to get a lumia 800. Since I always use the phone as a music player with my westone, I would like to ask whose bought lumia 800:
1. How's the sound quality of lumia?
2. In what extent the improved sound quality with the firmware update? I read the review in GSMArena and shown a disappointing result
English is not my native language, sorry for my bad english.
Many Thanks!
Audio quality
I am very disappointed with the audio quality.
If it was my only phone and I couldn't compare it to anything else I would probably think it's ok but yesterday in bed with my earphones on watching a youtube video I kept getting interference noise and the quality isn't as good as on my iPhone 4S.
Also I have tested both Lumia 800 and iPhone 4S sending audio via bluetooth to my car stereo (Nissan Connect) and the difference is shocking. The iPhone sounds as if the cable was plugged in and the quality is great but the Lumia makes it sounds like your listening to FM in a bad coverage area.
Don't worry about your english, it isn't my first language either.
If you really love your music I would recommend you stay away from the Lumia for now, also because battery doesn't last even a day. heh
Hope I could help.
Lumia really miss an equalizer

I'm a Westone 3 user and the sound on my Lumia is beyond disastrous. I can totally confirm the GSMArena results. This was such a shocker to me when I first plugged my earphones I couldn't believe it.
Some users though report that their sound is fine (although it's difficult to sort out people who test sound on stock headset and such stuff).
I still haven't received the update, so don't know whether it helps or not.
But definitely try to test sound before buying this phone! I mean, here it's not just bad. It's totally ridiculously awful.
Soundwise you should look at three things:
1 call quality with phone earpiece
2 call quality with phone internal speaker
3 audio quality of internal speaker
4 audio quality to external device
5 mic
All have different character and should imo be included in a review. Furthermore audio is very difficult to objectively review as user experience is based on personal opinions.
anyway, my experiences with the Lumia are these:
1) call quality earpiece: normal phone calls in office, phone calls with a lot of background noise, and sound quality while in call are very ok, what you'd expect from Nokia. the volume level is okay too, the lowest setting is not too loud like on most phones.
2) call quality internal: okay, loud enough, not too much treble which is very please on prolonged phonecalls.
3) audio on internal speaker, what do you expect from a 3 mm driver in a very small cabinet. I think it's fine, not harsh, much treble and don't expect any bass.
4) audio to external:
a) tested on hi end phones, sounds very well, includes all frequencies, converters sound a bit flat but i'm sure most users won't notice.
b) bluetooth i had someone verifiy and this seems good quality
5) I had someone else call me with Lumia800 and this is as expected from Nokia
But, I'm a bit worried about "audio quality updates" like in the latest firmware. I'm sure they fiddle with algorithms, noise cancelling, auto volume, and minimal levels. I live with the philosophy that whatever is good, doesn't need to be changed.

That's a great philosophy, but it's obviously not good for all users. Whether an update can fix anything or this is a faulty batch of phones is another question.

Can't believe this. MANY users say the sound is awful and I can confirm it also. It just lacks MUCH low frequencies.
What is your HW version etc. ?
Many users have reported improved sound quality and better bass after update released yesterday.

I'll definetely check this, but I'm almost on my way to cashback.
Thank you all
You guys do help me a lot!
I went to shop with my pair of hf5 and um2 to test the phone's demo (It still didn't release at my place.... sigh........ and the phone had not updated with the latest patch)
That's my experience
- NO BASS
- Other frequencies -> medicore
- Stereo is good, it felt like the music is surrounding you ( Better than my xperia pro )
- There are some noise when completed silent...
To be honest, I quite disappointed with lumia , its music performance (I should rephase it, lol) even cannot compete with 5800 3 years ago!
I miss my i9000 with voodoo sound... it is so hard to have a phone with nice looking , good music performance and not-a-iphone
If the sound quality is the most need of you, how do you like the mobile phone "Meizu" in China?
vassilihk, with the UM2, are you using loudness or eq on other phones if that is available?
i agree the sound quality of phones has decreased. everything is made smaller, faster, and lighter and you can see this in the build quality

I do not use equalizer, what i believe a good music player is simply deliver accurate output, pure frequency response is the best.
Let the earphone do the job, not the equalizer, that's what i believe, lol~

Actucally I live in Hong Kong and Meizu planned to release MX on 1.1.2012
In fact, I do have a bias on china-brand phone for its built quality, goodwill... I did not know how's the foreigners think about Meizu
Ofcoz, I'll have a try on MX if it is good

true... true ..
so while typing this i listen to music using good, very good headphones. clean and crisp sound, bass included. no overkill in the bass but the frequency are definetely there. just don't use tiny in ear drivers to generate booming bass sound...
My in-ear beats headphones that came with my Sensation XL improve the sound output on the Lumia 10 fold. it's al about the headphones.
i have an a lumia 800 since 1 week and i am also pretty disappointed by the sound quality. there is no bass, even with the update :-(
i really like the phone, but this is a no-go because i hear a lot of music. if nokia diesn`t change this, i'll switch to an apple or samsung device.
i think we're running round in circles or that different phone users have different ears. however to the suggestion above of comparin hw rev numbers, noone replied.
Okay, I have finally replaced my unit and got one that has great audio quality. The difference is massive.
It has the same hardware revision number and everything is exactly the same, the IMEI is different by about 700, so they have been built in the same production run most probably. There's no way to tell apart from plugging in your earphones and testing for yourself.
Is there anyway to manually increase some frequency values?
It's frustrating as the Lumia 800 sounds great using my Denons, but the very low frequencies are flat, very flat.
I really hope there will be some fix for this because as a whole i like the device a lot and the music experience is great. That said music to me on the phone is easily on the top 3 features so it needs to work.
Seeing as I'm a big music fan, a major bullet point on the SIII vs the E4GLTE is sound quality. I know the SIII has the wolfson DAC which is supposed to be pretty damn killer (if it makes it to the Sprint version), but what about the Evo? I know they have that pos beats audio global EQ, but how's the DAC itself? And is there anything special for it like supercurio's voodoo sound?
Thanks
And I'm pairing em to Ultrasone DJ1 Pro headphones, so I will hear the difference.
I'm also pretty curous about this.
So far all I've gathered is that the international One X didn't have great sound quality but the One S had great sound quality. Slightly better than the iPhone4s according to a GSMarena review.
(gsmarena.com/htc_one_x-review-747p5.php)
So I was curious how the US variants would work.
I've read random forum posts that claim the DAC is built into the SoC of the phones. The AT&T One X and the EVO 4G LTE are using the S4 snapdragon which is what the One S was tested with.
So hopefully the sound quality on these phones will rival that of the One S and not the international One X.
But all of this is based on speculation of other posters...
I'd imagine a sound review of the AT&T One X would be a solid comparison to how the EVO 4G LTE will sound but I have yet to find a detailed review of such performance.

.011 THD on the One S can't touch the 4S's .0068, but it's still impressive and probably negligible. If the DAC's are built into the SoC, then the Sprint SIII will probably share the same DAC, since this claims the SIII will have the S4 because of the Exynos doesn't have native LTE support. So maybe slightly different implementations between the two?
The difference between the two for me is slowly coming down to screen, and internal memory. Cause if the DAC awesome, I'll probably grab the 64GB SIII then cram in a 64GB SDXC so I can load in straight FLAC's.

That's what I read from one random forum thread while I was researching this, but I have yet to find any true confirmation so take that information with a grain of salt.
But yeah, Sprint's SGS3 would most likely have the same SoC and presumably the same DAC for that reason.
From a thread on here, you should be able to use a 64GB SDXC with the EVO too. The only difference would be the 48GB internal difference, but I assume you might end up paying anywhere from $100-175 more for those variants.
From what I've read, screens comes down to personal preference. The SGS3 is pentile, but for real world use, word is that would be largely irrelevant.
Do you prefer AMOLED or SLCD2? Depends on the person.
The biggest factor for me is that this phone can be in my hands in 13 days, and the SGS3 hasn't even been announced for any US retailer. Hard to compare it to a phone that is potentially months away.

Back to square 1..
As it stands, Samsung said June for the LTE variant.
For the screen though, it doesn't really matter to me, though I read AMOLED uses far less power than SLCD except with full white screens.

Indeed
Battery life should be better if watching movies for the S3, if browsing the web for the EVO.

But as you said, it has been confirmed the SGS3 will have great a great DAC so that's a start..
It would be nice if the thing has decent ear piece loudness without having to use a hacked kernel to boost it.
My question is with the audio jack. When I plugged in my EVO to the car, I could hear a high pitched squeel in the background.
An iPod did not do the same thing. It was crystal clear, which leads me to believe it was a generic audio jack.
Anyone have any news regarding this?

See, now I always thought it was my new amp that was causing it. Wish I could check and see if it was just the OG Evo, but my head unit is fried.

Generally a squeal in the background, is feedback from the alternator. (Not always) But if you can accel/rev the engine, the frequency should change - proving it is indeed from the alt. You can add an in-line filter for such noise, the iPod may filter that on its own - I have no idea, dont use one.

How about Bluetooth a2dp audio quality? Sense 3.x is pretty bad, does the evolte/sense 4 fix the low bit pool/rate?

Ground feedback loops are a common issue for aftermarket stereos, but damn well shouldn't happen with a stock radio. Could be the Evo, might not.

Doesn't hurt to have clean grounds. I used to have terrible feedback on am stations, I cut all my grounds, used a sanding disk on a angle grinder to clean up the metal, tossed on new ends and never had a problem since.

BT should be fine, as far as I'm aware this has BT 4.0 and Apt-X codec support like the One X/S. Bluetooth 4.0 gives you higher audio bandwidth over bluetooth and Apt-X gives you lossless BT audio up to ~370kbps for stereo sound according to the developers at CSR. In blind A/B testing with my international One X via a wired connection and the Samsung HS3000 they sound the same to me for 320kbps mp3, and slightly worse for FLAC encoded files which were unlistenable on earlier BT versions).
I'm debating to move to the Z2 and I would very much appreciate any feedback from Z2 owners who have experience with the Note 3.
I am looking at the sound quality of the noise reduction in the headphones and the camera, which are two of the primary draws for me.
How does the sound and camera and overall speed compare in real world use?

Does the 20.7 MP superior auto hack reduce the quality of the shots over the standard 8MP size superior auto mode?
Those gaps you mentioned in the review have me worried. I would have thought Sony would have that worked out by now, after the Z1 had the same problems.
How can anyone trust the water resistance like this?

I will be picking this phone up tommorow, have you noticed any serious over-heating or 4K camera recording issues? i.e phone random rebooting while recording video?
I was a former note 3 user and moved on to Z2.
A lot better software stability. More premium design and better handling regarding the smaller size compared to note 3. Unique amongst all samsung users. Waterproof mania and I've been using phones under water since xperia z. People informing they used it even with gaps and it's safe. Any pen stylus can be used and there is one made for sony (sony stylus es22). Camera is outstanding. 4k download is fun. Noise reduction is real. No need for opening flaps as magnetic charging does the job. Sound quality is really good inspite of the waterproof design. Only missing the IR blaster.
Overall u will never regret the switch!

yea I have both devices at the moment I will play around with both to see what I like most. but I think I will take the sony z2 over the note 3. The screen on the z2 is a lot better then the note 3 the colours are much better. The note 3 is a good phone but the z2 wins on a few more things then the note. As for the gaps tho on the z2 it is true you do get them I had to go through 3 of them before I got one with out gaps. But im very happy with it. And it is still waterproof even with gaps. But when paying 900 for a phone I do not expect there to be gaps between the frame and screen. Some people will be fine with it and some will not. But I can honestly say out of all the other phones I have had they have never had gaps between the frame and screen

A lot of people with gaps of different sizes (including me) have taken the bullet and tested the waterproofing of the phone and we have all concluded that no gap has ever compromised the waterproofing. I've yet to see a report of someone saying the gap compromises the waterproofing of the phone. This is probably due to the construction of the phone as the plastic injection molding goes deeper into the phone and then sandwhiched by the glass.

I personally have experienced over-heating only when recording 4k video for longer than 7 minutes. I think for most, if not all, of the over-heating cases the camera app just shuts off. I don't think anybody's phone ever rebooted due to over-heating from recording 4k.

I am a former Note 3 user - Also reviews would differ depending on the Note 3 variant used.
I have used N9005 LTE and I wont say switch is great. Handset is having lots of issues as discussed by users worldwide. Software crashes which is a common problem and thats the reason Sony till date has real poor reviews for the same. Phone is surely bulky and heavy compared to Note 3. Battery life is pretty much equivalent so no dramas there. Note 3 never heats (N9005 only) even with an hour of game play - Z2 surely does with 5 min camera usage too. Sound Output of Note 3 is way louder compared to Z2. Camera Z2 has a real good one No doubts about that. Build Quality also is pretty superb.

I owned the Note 3. Bitterly disappointed with it despite its being a very able mobile. It just didn't work for me. In terms of camera, cant help not my area of expertise. Now sound reproduction is another matter.
In terms of portable sound reproduction Sony started the ball rolling with their Walkmans decades ago. The quality of sound reproduction on most Sony mobile devices is above average to top quality IF one uses dedicated head phones. Here we go..........Headphones or speakers can only reproduce what the amplifier amplifies so the source and amplification are vital. Sony is a leading manufacturer in this area in terms of mobile sourcing and amplification, they have many years of experience and have more or less pioneered portable sound. To this end what we have in the Xperia range is very good amplification and when used with a hi-fidelity headphone those phones are able to take full advantage of the excellent source.
The Xperia Z2 comes with the Sony MDR-NC31EM noise cancelling head phones I am listening to them as I type this and yes they are more accomplished than the stock headphones bundled in most mobiles, better by far BUT..........There are far better still. I am not keen on ear bud type head phones. I prefer an over the ear 'open back' headphone like the Sennheiser PX-100-11. They simply amaze every time I use them and have become a reference point in reviewing other headphones despite their meagre price of around 40.00€ :good:
.
In terms of the ear bud type the Sennheiser CX-300-11 make the Sony ear buds sound amateur. Now if you can afford say 80.00€ the AKG K452 are designed for Android devices and are based on the award winning 450 and 451's They are also portable and come with their own carry case, they are closed back and not ear buds. The AKG can reproduce frequencies between 11-29500Hz, that's from very low base to very high treble! In comparison the Sony MDR's only manage 20-20000Hz meaning they cannot produce the full spectrum of sound frequencies the Z2 is capable off. I am generally not a fan of Sony headphones.
Please do accept that the type of sound you enjoy will not be the same as others. There are numerous brands of head phone and you are bound to find one that you enjoy. Main point is here the Samsung you mention on headphones produced a very decent sound BUT the Sony does produce a greater band width and more open stage to the music. As for the speakers or speaker on the phones themselves, neither are worth even listening to, having written that the Sony again leaves the Sammy dead in the water.
I hope I have been of some small help to you?
Best wishes, Ryland
Well I went the other way, in that I bought a Z2 and gave it up for a Note 3. I will echo what everyone else is saying, the Z2 makes a mockery of the Note's sound, especially with those bundles headphones. Nothing I do to the Note will bring the audio close to the Z2's, I'd be very interested to hear from a Note user that managed to make good on the Note's audio.
The Z2's screen is better but I wouldn't say to a degree that I wouldn't let it impact on the decision to pick it up. We're talking about a significantly smaller screen with that damn navigation bar in place of the buttons. The camera on the Z2 is where it really shines for me. Photos and videos are simply phenomenal. If this matters to you then it's a no-brainer seriously.
It really depends if you're like me and stuck in your ways. I use the Note for work and constantly using the S-Pen for drawing layouts and switching to calculator, I also like my physical buttons. It didn't take me long to switch back for those reasons but I really struggled with the decision to give the Z2 to my girlfriend due to the quality of the audio and video/photo capture. The Z2 is a solid handset it just depends what you want to use it for I guess.

Indeed. It depends on ones prioritise and what one does with the mobile.
I was disappointed with the Note 3. My own fault, I made a pre sale purchase and was the first customer in this country to own one. What horrified me about the Note 3 was the plastic leather back with plastic stitching then the plastic chrome sides. No way could I live with the feel of that mobile despite its many other qualities.
Music is important to me and the Samsung on this occasion was awful. The original cost was 1100€ for the Sammy and the Gear watch. With that sort of outlay I expected better materials and construction than the Sammy offered.
If you need the S-pen the Sammy Note is THE phone to own. In that respect its rather unique.
I think when we purchase something we are going to use and hold every day we need to feel pride of ownership and with those plastics made to look like other materials no way could I stomach it. Maybe if the Note 4 is made from decent high end materials I would take another look at the Samsung range BUT as music is important to me it sort of rules out the present Samsung range.
Its great to have all this choice though :highfive: .

Very helpful indeed. My question is this: Sennheiser CX-300-11 does not allow the noise cancelling features built into the device to function, but how do they compare in terms of noise reduction/isolation on their own?
The others are out of my price range at the moment, but the Sennheiser CX-300-11 might get me by.

Let me put is this way. When my dear to my heart wife starts to tell me off..............I just pop those in and its bliss.
They come with several sizes of rubber ear bud. When they are in the ear you cannot hear a word outside.
Noise cancelling is not always a good thing. This means the source of the music is not pure. The less distortion your music has the more natural the sound. Processing the sound, as in noise cancelation, is not something I would consider its much like the use of graphic equalisers they just made a mess of the original sound. Sony produce a very good source so I would not want it processed.
The Sennheiser is a very respectable head phone and through me many of my friends and family now own them. I fail to see how one could go wrong with an ear bud that price? I think you will be rather surprised. :highfive:
Let me know what you decide to do.

I think I'll go for the Sennheiser CX-300-11 because it seems like a great option for me. I would prefer buds for portability. I wasn't aware of the model, but I do know and trust the brand.
How sensitive are they? I mean, can they be driven properly by the Note 3's sound hardware for the meantime while I decide what device (if any) to replace it with?
I'm torn between the LG G3, G Pro 2, or the OnePlus One, but the latter is not available without invite, and the former are rather expensive Korean imports at the moment.
I went from the Note 3 to the HTC One M8 (for a few days) to the Xperia Z2 and couldn't be happier. I feel it's a huge upgrade for me, notably not having to deal with TouchWiz. Sony's Android UI is far nicer in my opinion. Battery life seems to be better than my Note 3 as well.
I came from the Note 2, but have used my friends' Note 3's extensively. Phone is really nice, the build quality, responsiveness, battery life, and stability are all nice. I did have a problem with my GPS in that it couldn't find my location once but restarting the phone fixed it. However, I will point out that the Note 2 and 3 are better for two handed texting, and the Z2 is great for 1 handed swyping. The speaker phone, because of the water proofing, is quieter and not as clear on the note 2, but has comparable quality to the note 3 speaker (although note 3 is louder). Z2 does get points for front facing speakers though, but flipping the note 2 face down while on speaker gave both parties better results.
Using the Neutron music app, (disgusting UI, but the BEST in sound quality) I found that the note 2 has better sound quality. There is a slight background noise, but that is diminished with moderate volume. Through hi-fi headphones, the note 2 has a better lows, the bass hits harder, with no bleed into the mid or high range. The Z2 has a bit of a bright but overall balanced sound. If you are a basshead then the note 2 is more preferable/fun to listen to but the Z2 is cleaner.
As for the UI, Sony has done a great job with keeping everything simple and clean. It's fast, responsive, and I have had no problems with lagging or hang ups. However, Samsung gives you more customization and even though it feels bloated some times, it lets me do what I need quickly and easily. Like changing the vibration intensity, blocking calls with acceptations, changing brightness in the notification area w/o going to the second tab, tapping the brightness icon, and then changing it. Stock Sony is limited, like stock Android.
Notification light under the speaker is sweet, I just wish it could be a little brighter/customizable. Screen is smaller and easier to reach across, but is lightly mitigated by the bezel size and ergonomics. The blacks are REALLY good for an IPS screen, and I don't notice much of a difference from the true blacks on the AMOLED screen, the colors are accurate yet still vibrant, which is great. The one thing lacking on the Sony screen is the viewing angles, which are OK and the screen is kinda reflective, but I can still see if I max the brightness under the brightest day.
Just got a few questions for people who previously had the G8 (Or the V30/V30+). Is this device super heavy in comparison without the dual screen attachment? Is the screen quality noticeably different?
What are your pro's and con's?
I'm undecided as this is the first device I have no way to see in person.
I had the V30, my wife has the G8. It is a lot larger, but I wouldn't call it super heavy. I would say the screen quality of all 3 devices is similar. I have quickly gotten use to the larger size. My wife says she would rather have the larger screen.
Coming from G8 myself. This thing is noticeably heavier than the G8, but you get used to it quick. The screen size is a huge difference. You can do pretty much everything one handed on the G8 while there are many times you need both hands on this phone. No noticeable screen differences as in quality. The sound is a HUGE difference between the 2, the V60 is amazing sound, while the G8 sounded tinny and like it was in a tunnel and way quiet. The auto brightness on the V60 is awful, it goes to zero in a single lamp lit room while the G8 stayed around 15%. All in all, I'm very pleased with my upgrade.

Yeah, I think I don't mind larger or heavier myself. I upgraded my iPhone 7 Plus to the 11 Pro Max. It's time to get bigger on my Android too.
My only concern was the lower PPI. Was hoping it wouldn't make the screen too blurry to me. I noticed my G8 won't go below 10% auto brightness. I think that is to avoid the black crush a lot of us saw with the V30 (I had to exchange 3 of them).
Sound quality, do you mean through the headphones or phone itself? I do not like the G8 for speakerphone at all, sounds terrible honestly.

We are all hoping a future update fixes the auto brightness bug. It goes to 0 in a lamplit room and just impossible to see the screen. I prefer auto brightness myself, so having to go back and forth is quite annoying. The G8 definitely was great with that.
Sound quality, do you mean through the headphones or phone itself? I do not like the G8 for speakerphone at all, sounds terrible honestly.
Sound thru the phone speakers are amazing with the V60. I have yet to use headphones plug in, as I don't really have good ones, just the set that came with my V20 years ago.
I also went from the V30+ to the V60 and absolutely love the new phone. I can attest to the quality of the phone's speakers.
They sound dramatically better than the V30's, though a good set of headphones will always be where it's really at for LG phones. At least as long as they continue to include quality Quad DACs in their devices. But hey, an improvement is an improvement.
Despite having a lower resolution and a much larger screen, and thus, a lower DPI that's obvious to the eyes, I'm happy with the screen. The colors are crisp, the viewing angles seem limitless, and if you're considering a V60, you should already know that you're not getting a cutting edge display with a 90 Hz or 120 Hz refresh rate. I think they made the right call and wound up turning this phone into a friggin' beast when it comes to battery life. Auto-brightness settings could use some tweaking, but this is an issue that has affected earlier LG phones. So while it's a bit baffling that it shipped this way, there's precedent for it getting fixed via a software update eventually.
The phone is substantially bigger and heavier than V30 (but not uncomfortably so in my opinion), and so it's less conducive to one-handed use out-of-the-box. But I DON'T USE LG's out-of-the-box software, so a combination of Nova Launcher (to replace LG Home), Fluid Navigation Gestures (to replace Android 10's stock gestures), and special permission being granted to the latter via ADB and Fastboot means that I can easily do things like pull the notification shade down with a simple swipe down from anywhere on the screen, and other similar QoL tweaks. I had no issues basically recreating my preferred LG V30 software environment and home screen on the V60. I had to learn how to use ADB and Fastboot to do what I'd normally have used root to do, but it wasn't as tricky as I feared and the end result is close enough to what I enjoyed before, that it's made the transition pretty smooth.
All in all, I'm pretty thrilled with the phone. I don't care how good a phone's screen is, if it doesn't have expandable storage via SD cards and a 3.5MM headphone jack, I'm automatically out. And it doesn't hurt that LG's phones have a well-deserved reputation for having higher quality audio output than just about any other Android phone out there. I value that a lot more than I do screen resolution, camera quality & camera software, or even the OEM skins layered over Android OS.
I miss the tof front camera on the g8. No face unlock at all on the v60 sucks.

It can be a little inconsistent at night compared to my old V30+, but I wouldn't consider it dramatically distracting.
I imagine a software update from LG will fix it (eventually), as I vaguely recall that the V30 had a similar issue in the beginning which was also fixed (eventually).
Sadly, "eventually" can usually take a while with LG.

I luckily find better outcomes without auto brightness. So I think I'll be okay with that. Is there any noticeable black crush or other issues at 0%?

I agree, my biggest excitement is the battery (G8 is pretty bad). So I'd realistically like to get this phone for when we're able to travel again. I listen to music on trips and don't need the hassle of Bluetooth headphones. I absolutely can't stand no headphone jack on an Android.
Also a fan of SD cards.
I'm looking at that LG Velvet too but I'm more than 90% sure I'll go with the V60 anyways. It'll have that beast of a battery and I don't have to buy the dual screen I don't need with it.
Did you write or read a post about using ADB and Fastboot? Just curious what tweaks you did/were able to do on the device.

Velvet looks like it's going to be a bit more mid-range. From what I've read, it'll have a weaker Snapdragon than the one powering the V60.
It seems like the V-series are their new flagships, Velvet will replace the G-series, and the G-series/Velvet will no longer be their beast mode flagships going forward.
As for ADB, all I did was give Fluid Navigation Gestures the permission it needs to hide the nav bar (normally it's a root thing), and uninstall a TON of AT&T and LG bloatware.
I just pulled up a random guide via Google. The process is essentially the same for most phones. Just don't go nuts and delete something critical like System UI!

i have been using pixel 6 for 10 days now and i can say that camera quality is top class but in other area phone is below average. the sound quality from bluetooth is not up to the mark, Even the internet speed is not good(on 4G), i donn't think it supports carrier aggregation. the quality of the display is also average. What do you think guys?
Well, bluetooth is digital, so if you've got a problem with the quality of sound coming out your bluetooth speakers, then you should either look at the quality of the speakers or the limitations of bluetooth.
LTE internet speed looks good to me? Just hit 135 Mbps on a speed test, which I ran just because I was curious after what you said. Kind of shocked actually, I've never seen a phone speed test that high, and its certainly a lot more than I could ever need. What are you expecting to see for speed?
Display being average, I'd definitely have to attribute that to your personal choices. There are two pixel 6's to choose from and you picked the one that explicitly has the crappier display.
My LTE is the same as my old S9. I get 42 Mbps at home. We have a vacation home where our fiber is 30, and 30 is plenty to have YouTube TV streaming and two people on ZOOM calls. Don't over think the whole speed issue, for most of us it is inconsequential.
This is all purely opinion. I switched from a Pixel 3, and it's a fantastic upgrade. Either your expectations of a 600$ phone were too high, or you're just here trying to troll people into buying something else. Like 96carboard said, BT is digital and all dependent on the speaker on the other end, and the internet speed could have something to do with your carrier.
I'm extremely happy with this phone, the screen is fine, I really can't be bothered about refresh rates cos I don't game. The reviews seem to be so picky over triviality and my 4G speed is excellent
I'm in the same boat. I came from the OP6T McLaren and I prefer the lighter thinner feel of that phone. The camera in this Pixel 6 just blows the OP away and that's probably the only reason I am using it. Still looking for super thin light case to make this just as small as possible.

Agreed. My speed was consistently better on OnePlus 7 pro as was reception. Modem on this thing sucks. I want to love this phone so bad but there's just too much wrong with it. I've now noticed that on dark mode when in apps like settings or play store, whatever has the generic dark background, my screen is darker on the right side. And every time the refresh rate switches from 90 to 60hz there's a noticable change in color hue.

The Google case adds next to nothing to the feel of the phone in the hand. I've held a couple black cases that offer better protection and also a clear case that offers better protection and by comparison the Google case just feels smaller.
I've been stuck in quarantine so I haven't tried the phone's modem in areas outside of my home and testing at home sucks because coverage has always sucked around me as there aren't any towers close by. I can say that the WiFi is better than on the LG G8X. It handles the hand-off between 2.4GHz to 5GHz and also mesh zones without issue (though I do drop WiFi calls during those transitions).
I do wish the display showed yellows and oranges differently. They seem kinda dull to me and I'm assuming it's what makes skin tones look occasionally off. Though maybe it's also a byproduct of using dark mode?

Would be interesting to know which phone you came from, since the P6 is a budget/midrange product with some clear trade-offs (screen in particular), so are your expectations realistic? This is not a 1000 dollar Flagship phone.
So considering that the P6 has a Gorilla Glass Victus, 90hz OLED for a 599 bucks phone, "average" is, well, acceptable.

First of all, a "flag ship" is something very specific that has nothing at all to do with phones. Secondly, even if you do try to use this military term, it does not in any way imply the best or most advanced.
Third, these (p6/p6p) are most definitely extremely high priced and top end phones, nothing average about them.
The only part of what you said that I agree with is that the screen (on p6-nonP only) is not the very greatest. But that's a choice you make when you buy the smaller one.

I do not quite see the need for your alleged know-it-all. Firstly, Flagship (no separation) is an established term to describe the most important product that an organization owns/produces. You might not realize it, but terms slash words can have several meanings. I know, it might be something new, but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.
Therefore, secondly, yes, of course the most important product implies the best or most advanced. You are making confused claims.
For further studies (I can only suggest self-study at this point):
flagship noun - Definition, pictures, pronunciation and usage notes | Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary at OxfordLearnersDictionaries.com

Definition of flagship | Dictionary.com
Flagship definition, a ship carrying the flag officer or the commander of a fleet, squadron, or the like, and displaying the officer's flag. See more.
www.dictionary.com
For a further assessment, I suggest you open a channel to the Oxford Dictionary or Thesaurus immediately and have them rectify their vocabulary, since - apparently - you are the master of the English language.
Thirdly, if you consider a 599 $ phone (P6) to be extremely high-priced, then you seem to have slept for the last five years. Since Flagships start at 800 bananas, Super Flagships start at 1000 bananas and "Ultra" Flagships start at roughly 1300 $ bananas (using the jargon of Tech Reviewers here), the P6 can only be considered Midrange to higher Midrange. Every other assessment is unrealistic and defies reality, which I would not recommend.
Whether you like this development, or not, is another matter entirely. Reality doesn't change just because a single person wants it to. That takes a little more motivation.

As if flagship OnePlus phones didn't have various software/networking issues in the weeks following their launch or in some cases, to date unfixed.
It's baffling to me how easily people pass judgment and give up based on minor details unrelated to hardware.
I look at this as a mid-range device. It has good specifications for the price range. If I had wanted all the features, I would have went with the Pro.
Battery life is my only real complaint. Its not bad but it's not great either.
No trouble with my speed the phone camera is awesome build quality bid disappointed in as the black on the sides of the phone is starting to come off

Display being average, I'd definitely have to attribute that to your personal choices. There are two pixel 6's to choose from and you picked the one that explicitly has the crappier display.

The only reason I am using pixel 6 is camera!
