Just wondering if there is any way I can install Android 10 on my T-mobile Samsung Note 8 phone? I know T-mobile is not going to release the version 10 for Note 8 but curious if it's doable and any one has tested it?
Thanks,
Yashuvp
Don't quote me on this, but it is my understanding that you need an unlockable bootloader so you can flash an AOSP version or something similar.

Well, I've been lost in MIUI Forum for the last days and I've been roaming through different devices. I seen in Mi4 that Windows 10 Mobile has been ported by Microsoft so I thought, why not on our beloved Redmi Note 3. I have never worked with a Windows 10 Mobile phone but the idea of perfect sync with a Windows 10 PC seems to me really tempting. So, my final question is, Could Windows 10 Mobile be ever ported to our Xiaomi Redmi Note 3?
If it could, the answer is yes. But of it will, the answer is probably no.
Just for a quick comparison. There were 2 versions of htc one m8, one with android, one with Windows. No developer ever managed to port windows to the Android based model (mostly due to no open sources). So if no one manged to port windows from the same phone, then you shouldn't expect windows 10 to get ported on our note 3.

Maybe we could ask Microsoft to help us or even develop a rom for us.

Hehe. Good luck with that. But there's a reason why windows phone is only on Microsoft (lumia) devices.

So, is there any chance for porting Win 10 mobile?

Well, besides the fact it will not happen. There's nothing perfect about Windows 10 mobile and certainly not sync with W10 desktop! I had a Lumia for quite some time and as of today all I can say is that they made a lot of progress since WP8, but it's far from what you would expect and most interesting functions will force you to enable Cortana.
Looks like it's old thread but i would like to reply with most of thr possibilities.
Yes it's possible to port Windows.
I can build Windows 10 Custom ROMS I've necessary OEM Tools and microsoft packages.
But the problem is needed right firmware bootloaders and drivers even os drivers too.
If we can grab any one of from existing soc then also would be good.
But unfortunately I'm using 3s prime which having SD 430 which is not existing in any oem W10M.
If i get that in future I'll definitely boot it from SD Card too as dual boot.
Just hope so.

Lolololol
You guys have to realize that this won't be a simple task at all. In theory it is possible, yes, but it will most likely requires weeks and maybe months of hard work to get it working and it might not even be stable. As of today, unless you have the knowledge to start developing your own port of Win 10 for this phone, you should simply forget about it.
Do you think Xiaomi updated the Mi 8 Lite to the recently released version of Android 10?
Will someone give development to customs roms of Android 10 for the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite?
Hold your jets pal. We dont even have a rock solid Pixel Experience on Pie.
My advice. Go test the latest builds, use the phone, report back and then maybe we will have Android 10.
Eventhough not officially announced, it's almost guaranteed at this point Xiaomi will update it to Android 10. Usually it's 2 years of version updates and 3 years of security updates. The estimated release date is somewhere between Q4/2019 (Mi 8) and Q1/2020 (Redmi Note 7).
That beeing said, don't hold your breath on it. Kernel sources usually get available at a much later date. Until we have high quality, rock stable custom Android 10 ROMs, most likely another year will pass.
I'm optimistic about this. @nysadev even made a guide on how to install Android 10 GSIs on platina, so i think soon we'll have (not stable) custom roms
there will be an android 10 miui for mix 2s. miui 11 will come first as android 9 later it will update to android 10.
Don't want to make a new thread, but does anyone have an update for this topic?

Apparently no one has new issues about what will happen with Android 10 in the Mi 8 Lite, in the same way my cell phone was stolen and I'm not interested much because It makes no sense to remain interested in something that I no longer have :/

Pixel Experience developer is working on it but is not easy, just wait
Hi
I've ordered an A10 for my wife. If it comes pre-installed with Android 10, can I downgrade it to Pie so I can install a GSI rom from @phhusson?
TIA
If they are the same bootloader version, you can. If not, you can't. If you don't know how to tell what bootloader version you are, I suggest you use Google.

Thanks for the quick reply but now you've really confused me! If the phone arrives with Android 10 on it what am I comparing against? And if it comes with 9, is there any way to check the bootloader version of the 10 upgrade before I install it (don't want to be stuck on a version I cannot root <g>)
I haven't had a Samsung for over 10 years (S2 - fabulous phone) so I'm a bit out of date. Is the bootloader version still the 5th character from the right in the baseband number?
TIA

Well, first of all I don't know if Android 9 is available for your phone or not lol I don't have the device. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. I suggest looking at sites like Sammobile to see if there is Pie for your phone
And second, yes that's how you can tell the bootloader version on Samsung phones still
Thanks @ShaDisNX255
Good news - it came with Pie not 10 and the bootloader is v3 so I should be good to go
Hey there I have rooted my android 10 to enable wps but unfortunately it is not working
So
I want to downgrade android version from 10 to any other version that supports wps connection
Can I and how ?
There is no way in how you could ever downgrade to a version, which was lower than the version the device was preshipped with. You cant downgrade a Galaxy S8 to 6.0.1 for example, as it was introduced with 7.0. Correct me if I am wrong but in my many years of experience, I have never seen something like that. I think the A10s was shipped with Android 9. There is no way how you can get Marshmallow/Nougat/Oreo on that Phone. Sorry!
Hey everyone... I scored a t-mobile branded s6 tab (sm-t867u) that came into my hands running Android 11, build # RP1A.200720.012.T867USQS7CVB1, UI 3.1... from my understanding of samsung nomenclature this means it is already at a bootloader version of 7?
I see there actually is a vector to unlock bootloader on these devices these days, but it stops being available at version 4 I think? Is there any chance I'll be able to ever unlock this devices bootloader in the future or should I give up that hope now?
On a related side note it is desperately trying to update itself to Android 12 apparently, and not seeing any good way to stop that... I assume that will push me to an even higher bootloader version? If that's the case, I take it there isn't a way to stay on android 11 then? Tia..
