Hey guys I was wondering is there any upcoming Oreo roms coming to the G5? Because I was snooping through the G3 forums and found a OREO rom for the G3 not 100% working but they have a rom on there so anything upcoming to the G5 guys? I know it sounds very very demanding but im really excited to use this new update or a new rom to the G5

No doubt oreo roms are coming up and since I also developed some roms I am 100% sure some oreo custom roms already exists but are disclosed for the developer himself to test and fix the issue. As you might know devs don't like to give users very experimental stuff. But you might have seen the oreo changes under the hood as one of the big things: Project Treble. (See this link for more without having to dig in google itself https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/09/android-8-0-oreo-thoroughly-reviewed/2/#h1 So other devices also have issues like bluetooth, camera and so on not working but I'm sure official oreo roms will come out within a period of 1-2 months as some phones already almost have fixed all oreo bugs like the HTC M10. Don't want to wait? Compile it yourself and contribute to the community if some devs aren't working on it already due to their lives/families I don't know whether LG G5 will reach oreo despite its age we all know how good manufacturer can be look at oneplus their software support for the oneplus 2 for instance. And the LG G5 is officially supported by LineageOS 15.0 if I'm correct. So just a little more patients

Thats true. I can wait for the oreo roms to come up, Can't wait for the devs to make one thanks for telling me about whats going on means a lot
Weve got to let sweet rom cookies bake in the kitchen for a bit first
First off let me say I've been a part of Xda for a while and I can't build a rom so no need for the chastising replies. I recently purchased my rs988. I see for research it took a while to be able to unlock bootloader. How come there really isn't any development for this model? I bought it unlocked because I thought it would be easier to make ROMs. Anybody got some insight I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

here are 2 roms if you want to make it your "own style" use light patch, third thread.
Fulmics dev had asked for rs988 testers months back he has also been busy with college which is stated a few posts above your request on his thread.
Use the "thread search" option and type in rs988 you will then see anything related to that model and see the questions already asked.
We don't want to be all asking the same questions. If you think it's hard to port a rom to a phone you have try doing it for a phone you don't own.
All the work is done for free with more complaints than thank you's.
Fulmics is compatible with the rs988 but is commented out in aroma "probably for a reason". (that's the ROM i would like to see most on the rs988).
i used AOSPA rom with light patch and had great results but lost video calling on verizon so I switched back to stock.

Yeah I'd like fulmics. Asop ROMs are better suited for Nexus and pixels
Just happened to stumble over here. I was pained to see the lack of development as well, so I got off my bum and made an unofficial build of LineageOS 14.1 for the RS988!
Fulmics was the first ROM that I installed when I got my H830. I switched it out for a RS988 barely a week later (T-Mobile locked my H830, grr), and I miss my LG Remote app now.
I'll sign up to be a Fulmics tester.
Hey all,
I am new to v30s and I recently picked up a great deal on a AT&T H931 that I hoped to use on Tmobile with a custom rom. I frankensteined to US998 and rooted it with the guides on here and all went well.
I understand their is a issue with all AOSP roms bootlooping on the H931, and I was just curious if anyone had any insight development wise if it is likely that their will be custom AOSP roms working on this soon? I may just resell the phone now and look for something else if it is something that is not going to be possible as I know the development on it may be difficult and the issues with bootlooping is only affecting a few models I assume it is not a priority for many devs, but I didn't want to give up on it right away if the fix is likely close.
My 2nd question is knowing AOSP roms do not work I was wondering if there are any good custom modded stock roms that may work on the h931? Sorry if that is a dumb question.
Thanks in advance!
I'd like to know too. me2151's thread has lost steam with no real answers. V30 is over a year old now so I'd say hope is dimming. I'm still very happy with the phone on 8.0 US998 stock, but man I'd love some pie.
Uh, I think the only ones with problems are H932

Former H931 and H933 cannot boot any of the Oreo AOSP/Lineage ROMs. They can only use stock-based ROM like Boombox.
One H933 guy got PIE Havoc to install and boot, but others want to know how he did it.

Theres been no progress updates. been too busy working on Invictrix to focus on device stuff. in other news. I am moving away from the v30. I have a 6t now.
From your testing and experience which V30 AOSP Pie Rom is the best at the moment.
We all have our own opinions, what is yours?
If no listed please list it as a reply.
Also, as always, if you have feedback on why you picked a rom, or why you didnt pick a rom (missing features, something not working) let us know with a reply.

Interesting. Since when? afaik all of Markus's roms work fine with dac. including all his pie roms
Poll has evened up with Pixel Experience and Havoc OS getting 3 votes each as well as Lineage just behind with 2 votes.
Anyone have any likes/dislikes they want to share about the rom they are using?
Also really interested in ROMs on this phone. Just ordered a V30+ so haven't tried any yet, or even the stock experience. Haven't used any Android version past 7.1.2 yet. I really want a ROM that allows me to modify the power button functions to show a "reboot" and "reboot to recovery" along with "power off", removing all other options from the boot menu accessed via power button. Also saw the Google Now bar which was, for a while, known as a pain to remove on the Nexus 5 (or was that Android in general?). Hoping it's possible to remove that bar entirely.

Did someone build DU themselves? I don't see DU 9.0 anywhere on these forums. Marcus was told not to release unofficial builds.

Open source is open source. No one -- even ROM group -- has any control over "unofficial" builds somebody wants to make. They're unofficial.
Unofficial is actually better in many instances, because the device maintainer can make whatever changes they wish, and are not restricted by ROM group rules.
@SGCMarkus? I thought you locked the DU thread only until the group released PIE?

The DU guys dont want any releases on XDA, at all. There has been some dramain the past... lets say it that way.
And yes, they have a say in unofficial builds too. But im gonna respect their wishes anyway. The builds are in the V30 Telegram group, or in the V30 Discord server (the later is still WIP).
Unfortunately, the T-Mobile V30 is always the odd one out with these ROMs. So the only one I have been able to use is Lineage 16. But other than the dim Always On Display, I haven't had any issues with it and it works great. I don't feel the need to go back to Oreo now.

Hey, six of one half a dozen of the other. Weird though, since I thought XDA was pretty much the biggest forum for Android development.
Stock apps?
I'm very aware of the fact that AOSP loses features from stock. But audio recording thought the headphone jack sucks now! The default recorder was amazing, and every app I try blows out the mic... I've tried all of them even Field Recorder.
I'm aware my use case is very specific. I use a lavalier mic to record interviews and conversations for videos. Honestly every other app, other than the stock LG one has no dynamic range and turning down gain in settings does nothing.
I'm open to suggestions, it's just a huge bummer that my last 5 projects all suffer from a blown out mic.

Stuff like this is why I'm still on ROOTED stock firmware. I can flash/install mods to give me custom features.
The only thing that really bugs me right now I've not been able to change easily is the status bar icons --- and maybe I just haven't looked hard enough.
If the polling weren't already completed, I would have voted for a third option. It would be either stock or none. I have flirted with all of the pie roms, and they each suffer from similar and fatal flaws like the one you give. Others to add are a functional camera app, propper playback volume, need for se enforcing, and correct set up for mms on Verizon to name a few. I hope this isn't interpreted that the efforts of the devs are not valued. The dev's have made amazing progress in six months or so since wtf was announced. I patiently look forward to the day the scale tips in favor of an aosp rom like what happend with RR om the quark.

Right. The devs are amazing.
@SGCMarkus singlehandedly brought the V30 a half dozen AOSP/Lineage custom ROMs.
It's just for me personally, I've made the decision to stay on stock rooted firmware for now.
As you know, on the Moto Quark I was a BIG proponent of first CM (which is now Lineage) and RR ROMs.

Hello community.
Unfortunately I haven't found any custom ROMs for the S23 Ultra yet. Since the cell phone is already a few months old, I would like to know if there is any information about the status of current ROMs. There are these "classics" that seem to develop a ROM for every cell phone, but I haven't seen anything from them either.
OneUI is so bad, I need to get that crap off my phone asap xD
Have you looked in the development section? There are 2 threads of customs Roms. Other custom Roms for S23Ultra you can find on telegram.

Hey thx for the reply.
These two custom Roms are "Just" the Stock Rom with magisk and root.
I also don't have Telegram and i woudn't Trust a ROM which is Just available over a Anonymous messanger.
Would be weird not to use a stock rom. No sPen support and no 100x zoom. Should try another version of the s23 series.

Just find another UI in Play Store or Googlem like Nova or Microsoft launcher.
Thats why I Said that i use Lawnchair as Launcher to get a more Stock Android Launcher. Unfortunately a Launcher doesn't Change the Settings, Dropdown Menü, Lockscreen or removes Bloatware. That's why i hope for a ROM Like PixelOS.

I recommend you to not install Custom ROM because the S23 is new, so the ROMs have maybe a lot of bugs.
I don't even find a custom ROM. Latest ROMs i can find is for Samsung S10 so wth is going on with Custom ROMs and Samsung?
I would even pref a Buggy Custom ROM with Stock Android experience over the Samsung ROM.

Samsung is making it harder to root, especially in the US where you physically can't unlock the bootloader unless you buy a non north American model. So the people in the US that make roms just gave up on Samsung devices since they're All going forward with no option to unlock the bootloader. As for other countries with rooting communities most are based on telegram because this is an English based forum and I know of several roms for s23u that are maintained/made by non English speakers so they stick to telegram.
How do i find these Telegram ROMs?
If it's just needs a Hero who makes Threads here i will do it.

Just start by googling XDA public telegram channels and just start asking about where custom ROM channels are and you will start getting links/invites.

No, people advised me to give up. Custom ROM will cause Volte to be lost and unable to make phone calls and send text messages
I tried using pixel GSI, but lost VOLTE and couldn't make phone calls or send text messages. Of course, fingerprint NFC is also unavailable
Thank you for testing and reporting! maybe we should wait a bit until the bugs are fixed. However, I'm glad to have found someone who needs a new rom as badly as I do. In any case, we need threads on XDA for the ROMs, XDA is THE contact point for such topics, so there should be a place for every ROM here as well.
