Making extra partition on internal memory ? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
I want to make extra partition on my internal phone memory and format it in FAT32 so when i connect my phone to car USB to use that partition in android car head unit..at least to try to use it because at current setup head unit does not recognise phone as mass storage (MTP is selected).
Any ideas ? Thanks

[Q]Mass Storage only external SDCard

Hi,
I'd like to know if there is any way of selecting mass storage mode only for external sd_card. When I conect to a PC or any other device, if I select mass storage mode, both internal and external storage connects, but I would like to connect only external one (the sd_card itself). Is that possible?
Just for the record, I'm using CM9 now, but I haven't found this option on any of the roms I've tested.
Thank you.
Just remove the sdcard from microSD slot and insert it to card reader ._.

I'm sorry, maybe I didn't explained it correctly... Of course, this is a way to access the sdcard, and I know there are some other solutions, but it's not what I was asking. I don't want to remove the battery cover each time I want to access the sdcard. I don't want to wear with me a card reader always...
There are some cases in which I'd like to use this feature. For example, my car stereo has an USB port. In case I connect the SGS2, both storage units connects to the stereo, but it only detects one of them, in this case, the first one (internal Storage). This has 2 problems, the first one is that I use the external sdcard for music storage, and the second one is that some applications that stores data in the internal sdcard stops working.
I know there are many other ways of doing things (using a usb drive, removing sdcard...) but I just wanted to know if selecting only external storage was possible.
Thank you.
I`m interested into this too...
Phone forgets ringtones selection when they are stored on internal card after card disconnected from PC
Is there any way to mount only external SD card?

Pretty sure you can't do that (open to correction though).
The problem is more likely to be that the S3 can't connect in USB mass storage mode.
(Least certain of this part) As far as I know the phone reads the filesystem itself for the device: i.e. a filesystem that a PC can't read it (say ext4 on Windows) will still show up over USB as long as the S3 can read it. Though like I said, very shaky on this bit
yeah I was afraid it was not possible indeed... thks anyway

There is a way, but it requires rooting and buying an sd-card.

Android-x86 RC2 on External Mass USB - How To Allocate Memory

Hi there
Thanks to all you good people out there sharing knowledge all over the internet, I have managed to successfully install Android-x86-RC2 on my Asus S400CA Ultrabook! :good: (It comes rooted with superuser)
I want to keep things simple. Avoiding anymore dual-boot disasters, Android install and boot from an external disk is safe and easiest thing I could do.
Currently running Android from an external 150GB USB Mass Storage Disk.
(This disk is partitioned. Android is on a 10GB partition. I can change this as per your suggestions using MiniTool on Windows 8.1)
Key Problem - Unable to use any other storage, other than the 2047MB created during the install.
I'll be happy to buy an independent higher capacity SD card, as long as it works!
I tried with a 1GB SD card. Partitioned (100MB Fat32, 880MB ext2) and also unpartitioned. Android mounts the card. Link2SD fails to move apps.
(SD card gets mounted under USB storage in the settings).
If you people can help me sort this one thing out, I'll be so so very thankful....
.....cause without storage all my efforts will become complete waste.
(Installing Asphalt 8 requires 1.4GB space, which fell short of 35MB space. And that's just one game.)
Everything is in working order! - All hardware, including touch screen, SD card reader, WiFi Wireless adapter, Xbox Wireless USB Controller, Bluetooth 4.0 adapter (multiple connections - Sony mouse VGP-BMS33, and Plantronics earphones).
Bluetooth was really annoying since it failed to pair everytime. Thanks to 'Bluetooth Auto Connect' app from Play Store sorted this issue.
Haven't tested webcam and I can't go any further...
I am out of space.... but I can't give up just yet.... PLEASE HELP
SOLVED...!
Android x86 RC1, RC2 and r1, all have similar behaviour! It really depends on the type of partition format you use.
FAT32, FAT and NTFS will limit the internal memory to 2047MB. Ext3 and ext2 partitions however create internal memory using the whole partition space.
Kindly note: Do no use Android installers' paritioning. Instead use third party tool like MiniTool Partition Magic from your Windows environment to partition and prepare the disk for installation. (During R&D I formatted ext3 partitioned disk with NTFS formatting using Android installer. When I went back to do another install, I found that disk was still showing Linux! So used MiniTool for formatting...)
Hope this helps someone...

Mass Storage

help!! I need an application that allows me to handle the internal memory of my phone samsung s3 international version from the PC as a mass storage device and not as multimedia .
If your trying to say to convert an sd card into internal storage, change your rom to to an android 6 based one (i.e CM13) and there is this sd card setup allowing to let you use it as portable or mass storage.

I'm around trying to say that I want to use internal storage memory of the phone as a mass storage drive , I tried some apps does not work
Oh, that isn't really possible. A phone cannot be converted into a mass storage drive for PC. You will need a proper hard drive in order to do it.

Star s5/Miz Z2 - unable to mount phone storage memory

Just formatted via USB my phone storage (5gb total) splitting it in 4gb (data) 1gb (ext2 for apps). I put back the original files and folders previously backeupped in the data partition but now the phone doesn't want to mount the memory.
Naturally I can access the memory via USB every time I connect the phone to the PC.
Any idea?
