TicWatch Pro sideload APK from a TicWatch E2 specific app - Wear OS Software and Hacking General

I hope someone can help, I have an a Wear OS App on my TicWatch E2 which only works on this device. I was wondering if it is possible to Sideload the App onto my TicWatch Pro. I've managed to ADB Pull the package from my TicWatch E2 onto my Windows 10 PC. The Package consisted of 4 APK files? I've tried to install on my TicWatch Pro using this ADB method but get the following error.
adb -s 192.168.1.20:5555 install c:\app\package.apk
I get the following error....
adb -e install base.apk
347 KB/s (7524235 bytes in 21.165s)
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_VERIFICATION_FAILURE]

Let me guess, you are using Smartdrive, and would like to try using TicWatch pro with your SD.
I am trying to do that too, but no luck.

Yes, I’ve really given up, I don’t like the way the E2 controls the SD, I find the old Pushtracker far better. I would like to try on my Pro though as is a better watch all round, battery might be better as well. I know someone else who is trying as well with no success. I will let you know if they have success .
Cheers

Great, thanks!
You are right, Pro is better than E2. For now I have to switch between to watches, depend on whether I am using
SD or not. A little bit stupid.
I am considering rooting my Ticwatch pro to make more trials, or just sell it....
BTW, do you have disconnection problem with PushTracker? I heard most users in my country have this problem. That's one of the reason to "upgrade" to a smartwatch. However, battery life becomes another issue.

I’ll never use the E2 again unless I have a problem with the old PushTracker. It sometimes disconnects if I put my hand on my lap while driving, I guess the wheelchair blocks the BT signal?
If I drive for a long time going up a steep hill it will also cut out but it does that with the E2 as well. I think this is because the motor gets overloaded?
Have you updated the PushTracker ?

I think the wheelchair and the body would do so. That's the most (maybe the only) improvement from PT to E2 I guess.
I have't seen overloading cut for now. I didn't do such a long time or outdoor driving at this moment.
I don't actually have a PushTracker. I bought SmartDrive last month, and it was already bundled with E2. I heard the problem from other users and the local dealer. Updating would be a nice idea. I will tell them to check.
Back to the smartwatch, I am trying to figure out how to install "split APKs" on watch. That's what you mentioned about 4 APKs in the earlier post.

You should ask your reseller for the original Pushtracker, also the other person who has been trying to hack the pro has got a little further. I haven't had any communication lately so I'm guessing he's given up.

Well, after several days trying, I have good news and bad news.
Good news: After rooting my TicWatch Pro, I have installed Samrtdrive App and connected to SD successfully. (sorry for the Chinese characters in my photos. you should know what it is. )
Bad news: The sensitivity is somehow too high to make any control. Even a small moving of my arm sent multiple tapping signals. Setting sensitivity to 10% makes no difference. Totally unusable.
This is as far as I could go. Unless Permobil and Mobovoi decide to support more watches, I will stay with E2, or get a old PushTracker as you said.

Does the G Tablet Have GPS?

Sorry if this has been asked, I saw a video on youtube that said it did. So does have built in GPS?
p.s. search is temporarily down.
No, the one available from sears doesn't have the chip. This device has many names and a couple different configurations from different companies. One is available w/ 3g radio, gps, and 1 gig of ram. It's available for order from some import sites. Ours unfortunatly is only 512 and no 3g or gps. with that said, their is support for an external bluetooth gps device.
Thanks for the heads up. Damn, kind of a let down(for me). It still is one of the best spec'd tablets out right now for the price. How do you like it????

I can only answer for myself. I am using the stock software. I have not modified it in any way. I have been able to find enough apps to do what I want with the device as it is supplied from Sears. Would I like more, sure. I would like to have flash working. While I really don't care about youtube, it would be handy to be able to pull some things up for my music lessons. The guys on this forum have done more in 10 days than any other group that I have ever seen. They have mod'd this device all over the place. One guy has reported that he even has a wince version almost ready to release as a beta. Honestly, the hardware on this thing is fantastic. I admit the software is not up to the same caliber as the hardware. I am just too busy to play with mod'ing mine right now. I am going out of town for two weeks and I don't want to screw it up just before I go and then I will be pissed off the whole time I am gone. I believe the experts on this forum have said the device is un-brickable. And from all of the discussions, I believe this to be true and not just hot air. My advice - If you can get a refurbished one buy it fast at 279. If not then buy it on sale this coming Thursday for 379. If all else fails then shell out the 400 for a brand new one. If it can't do it now I am sure these guys will make it do it before Christmas. IMO

Like you, I am using the stock software, and have not modified it, other than to add the folio flash apk. Flash now works great. It is a great device and I am eagerly awaiting the update from VS
another option is to use a BT GPS puck and an app like Bluetooth GPS to simulate an internal gps.
In the Malata link that Marican posted, it talks about adding GPS like it is something they can "plug-in" upon request. If that were true, it sounds like for $40, we might be able to get the same thing and stick it in the unit. Anyone have any ideas about how they are adding GPS?

There's a space on the board for a GPS on a chip, as well as a mini PCI-e socket and space for a SIM socket. Might be doable with a bit of soldering, which I might be attempting soon.

Just to confirm, in Italy Olivetti is proposing Olipad100, which is a version of G-Tablet with 1 GB RAM (but no GPS, unfortunately), as reported here:
http://forum.android-dev.it/olipad100-viewsonic-g-tablet-rimarchiato-512mb-t2980.html
It is my understanding that you do not need to root your android phone when you use 'Easy Tether' program available on Market.

Is this realistic ?

Hello,
Just snatched up the Omate Truesmart Dev edition (1GB/8GB) on Ebay for a nice price. I got it more as a curiosity for now since i have a working Pebble Steel/Iphone 5s combo that fits well in my life.
But, the prospect of having a real Smartphone in a watch kind of design made me curious. The fact it's running Android got me in since i do like to tinker with ROMS and new i could do it with the Truesmart.
My planned use case for this watch is as follow:
1) Use the Omate as a always on communication tool for messaging, email and important infos notification and consultation tool. I need to be able to send small replies to messages using preferably, voice to text.
2) Use the Omate as a phone on my wrist using bluetooth or the speakerphone
3) Use the Omate as a network hub and tether a tablet to it
It should also be able to provide me with a decent battery life (a day at the minimum, i don,t mind charging every night).
That being said, am i overly optimistic or is this feasible ? Should i move to a different ROM ( i am running the original one, latest update appears to be 20140527-1733)
If i need to root and update the firmware... Can anyone guide me in which preferred rooting method and best battery friendly firmware available today ?
Thanks for your help,
Max
Nope, the hardware is pants... nothing works properly, if it did this would be an amazing watch....
You might get lucky and get something with working GPS and bluetooth but these watches have far too many problems to be anything more than a short curiosity, you certainly can't rely on them, saying that I do want to try out Viber on these things...

How much did they pay you to take the watch off their hands?
Mine seems to work good. I'd say if everything is working on the watch then yes you could do those things. In fact I've used it for most of the things you listed.
I'd recommend using the ensec rom by kuronosan.

Thanks, i will try that.
I've been running it on 3g and Wifi for a few days now. Battery life is awful, i can squeeze out 9-10 hours at best, so not enough to last my whole day. I would be ok with at least 16-18 hours (which is what i get from my Iphone 5s anyways..). Does the ensec ROM provide a bit more battery life than the original one ?
Yes, I usually charge it every 2-3 days using 3G, but could probably squeeze 4 days if I wanted. Even when I use it a little more heavily it still lasts me through the day.

Hey thanks Speedy. I think i don't have other choices then try the Ensec ROM. I have been trying the last 2 days to get those damn USB drivers working on my Windows 8.1 laptop (and on another desktop running Windows 7 64 bit) withouth success. I can't get both computers to recognize the $?%&? watch. I am thinking about installing Windows 7 32 bits in a VM and try it this way but geez.. Do you know of any way to get the Omate recognized under Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 64 bits ?
Thanks
Miroul
Weird, I used my windows 7 x64 computer to install all the stuff on my truesmart. I can't think of anything off the top of my head as to why it wouldn't work though..
You did turn on usb debugging, right?
Sent from my GT-N5110 using xda premium

This phone is utter Garbage

1. Screen Bleed. Not terrible but annoying.
2. Unable to transfer files to phone from my PC. I tried 3 different PC's. I have developer mode and tried both usb debug mode on and off.
But files either refuse to copy - or copy so slow that it would take days to copy large files, literally.
I installed the Poco drivers and Mi assistant. It tells me I need to update my phone before connecting to PC.
But my phone IS updated.
3. The mic hardly audible on video calls.
The mic only works if I have my mouth VERY close to it, other wise people cannot hear me at all during video calls - I mean literally AT ALL. The person was sitting quietly waiting for me to talk but I had been talking for over a minute before I realised they cant hear a thing. Did a Skype test call.. same problem.
4. It took me weeks to even be able to order this phone due to the bad habit of advertising the phone but not having enough stock available.
5. No refund available, just the painful process of sending it back and having to gamble on getting a better quality phone.
I can see my self stuck in an endless cycle of returning these phones. becasue none will be up to standard.
It has a fast processor, pretty good camera, and good battery... but the rest seems utter garbage.
I'd rather a slower phone that actually worked properly.
1. my Poco is made in China and there is not screen bleed, screen is perfect.
2. no problem for me to transfer file from Poco to Win10 in vm.
3. not tested with Skype so idk, but with normal call with speakerphone enabled i did not have problems atm.
4. :::
5. :::
What you listed is nothing compared to the touch issues this model has... It's barely usable because of them. Other than that, it's very solid. I don't even mind the light bleed, I just want the touch response to be snappy and accurate (which it's not...).

Nothing?
I got this phone mainly for Skype video calls on the move. But with the awful mic its totally useless.
Plus I got the 128GB version for more storage space, but cant even transfer files to the device.
I didn't notice many touch issues though.. maybe a bit.
Thats what we get if we pay cheap... crap quality control.
My model was also made in India - which probably means it's even worse.
About the USB thing it wouldnt work for me on the USB 3.0 ports of my computer, but I know its not Poco's fault, not even my new sound card gets recognised there. If your computer is old one (mine is P9x79 Pro with 3930k) its most probably just the USB fault. It was when USB 3.0 first released and I remember it not even working properly until drivers released a year after. Not to mention that I still have problems with it sometimes.

I mean that your mic issue is probably easy to fix in future updates (I just tested a video call myself and the other person heard me very clearly) but the screen is most likely a hardware issue which is the worst. I don't have any problems with the file transfer either.

Yes, this phone was supposed to be a 'flagship killer killer'
Now when people point out its faults you say 'what do you expect from a cheap phone'.
Well if its crap, say so and I wont buy it.
People have been raving about it mainly due to the ultra fast processor, caught in the hype and ignoring the bad build quality and quality control.
Plus Mi India wont even give refunds.
AND they wont even check my replacement before sending it. So I may get another duff model and have to go through the entire process again.
So yes,, THIS PHONE IS GARBAGE

Maybe that's the issue.
Indian products are notoriously terrible quality.
Plus Mi India won't even offer refund.
After I read this thread, I just connect my phone to my PC to see if my Poco has any troubles transferring. Recognized by the computer, I then selected USB transfer rather than charging on the phone, and transferred over a 100 MB file in about 2 seconds. Fastest I've seen so far on a phone. So, for what it's worth, no issues here.
I find the screen bleed issue interesting. Reminds me of my 2012 iMac, where there was a huge blow-up online with screenbleed at the bottom that almost nobody noticed until they read the online forums..... Never noticed it on my phone until i read about it here. Ha!

Maybe I should change this thread title to: 'INDIAN PRODUCTION AND QUALITY CONTROL STANDARDS ARE GARBAGE.'
From what I'm seeing here it seems most of the phones made elsewhere are pretty much fine.
Interesting that people think it get worse ,I don't see backlighting get brighter as days go by, Backlight will get dimmer ?
Hmmm i read all these issues people have and i have yet to encounter any of them. I use my F1 daily since 6. September. Only problem i have is finding a good flip case for it.

I can speak for myself, I don't know why it does it to you. I can connect my s9 on that port and it works just fine also. However I had problem with MANY devices in the past (even last week with my new sound card) getting recognised or working properly. Some devices work, some don't. Do I blame the devices? Absolutely not. This is the price you pay for adopting new technologies like USB 3.0 (when it was first released) Its not pocos fault for being incompatible with 3.0, because it works fine on my 3.1 laptop, or USB 2.0 on my desktop. Same with my sound card. Again that's my own case, I don't know why it's not working for you. My suggestion is to try different drivers and/or upgrading the firmware of the usb.

Could this watch be broken?

Hi there
Recently, I saw a Zenwatch 2 at a good price on ebay, and, well, I bought it! It was a weird impulse, but I have been curious about the whole smartwatch thing for a while. I've also never had an Asus mobile product, so it seemed to be a good way of killing two things with one missile.
So far, I have to say I'm very disappointed. The watch runs very slowly and is buggy imo. I have owned a phone with the same processor for years, and know it's capable of more (running 8.1.1.-based ROMs, at least). Despite being described as brand new when I bought it, its transitions are appalling, for example. Only about 400MB of the storage is taken up - yet I can't uninstall apps properly.
The two biggest issues, however, are that Remote Camera and the "forgot my phone" features in ZW Manager aren't working. I haven't found anything to suggest that they don't work on the newer versions of AW/Wear OS anywhere. Currently, it's on Android Wear 2 (7.1.1.) and won't upgrade past that. On that note, the watch will only download over BT - which is slow as hell - despite having successfully connected it to Wifi. So basically, it doesn't do much besides change watch faces and show notifications at this point. I've tried resetting it and reinstalling all its apps on the phone (a Oneplus 3), but nothing.
I'm incredibly disappointed at this stage, and kind of wish I'd gone with a Ticwatch (even with the greater expense) instead. OTOH, I do like the look of the watch (looks better than an Apple Watch imo) and want to give it another chance. Is there any way of fixing its issues? I'd install webwear, but have read that it kills the battery. Anything else? or is that my only option :/

Hi Gigarant,
I'd reccomend this watch if you are looking for anything that gets the job done. If you are wanting more performance and stuff, get a different watch while you can, cause this watch has been discontinued in the long run. So no further updates will be made and your essentially stuck. Hope this helps!

Yeah, I'm still not sure if I'm going to keep it. Thanks anyway though
Also, there's no fix for the Remote Camera issue then? <=[

Not that i'm aware of.
Root the watch and enable all 4 cores, the watch will be extremly fast after that (without using more battery)

mine has the same issue. I have already created a thread in here about that, and I received as a suggestion to reflash the kdz, but I'm still waiting for the oreo kdz to be released to try this out. you can give a shot doing that

What's the kdz? Also, I'm only at 7.0; I think Oreo is 8.0.
I wqs reading a thread with a similar issue and it was suggested to wipe the active cache partition. I haven't tried this yet, have you? Do you know if that'll wipe out all my storage? It's a whole process...shutdown, reboot holding Power + Volume Up and then following screen instructions.

I've already tried lots of things, and unfortunately none of them worked for be. Basically I tried wiping the internal storage, wiping the system and then reflashing the rom I was using, and I also tried reflashing the stock android. Nothing changed.
btw, kdz is basically the file that carries the system that is going to be installed in your phone. some versions of g5 already got the 8.0 oreo kdz, and some still on 7.0 nougat, reflashing the same 7.0 kdz could be a relevant try, but I'm not sure.
and also, wiping the cache won't change anything for you. wiping it will basically erase all temporary data created by the apps and system im your phone.

What has your experience been like with this SIM issue? Did it start off like I described mine? At first just once in a while, then once a day, then twice a day, but fixable by just releasing the battery and snapping it right back in. That's where I'm at now; twice a day. Although it didn't happen today...ever since I opened the tray, readjusted the card and blew into it.
I'm just curious if it always starts slow and progressively gets worse. Did u already mention how bad u have it? Like the frequency of the "SIM Card Removed" error and what u need to do for a temp fix? And if it snuck up on ya or has been the same since it began.
It sounds like reinstalling the kdz will wipe out my storage, ya? Just the internal or SD card as well? I haven't tried the LG Backup App that came with the phone. Is there a particular backup App that I should check out, or is the LG on good enough? I have a ton of voice recorder mp3's and Quick Memo+ files that I manually backup regularly...just by connecting the phone to my laptop and dragging files onto it.
I've been thinking about buying a compact phone for a while; maybe now is the right time. The only decent one I've found besides the iPhone, which I'm not a fan, is the Sony Xperia XZ1. The screen is 4.6" and the phone itself is 5". They're way expensive tho, close to $400, which is practically double my budget. I may be mistaken, but I recall the XZ2 being cheaper than the XZ1. I haven't look into a planned release date for the XZ3, which one might assume would make the XZ1 cheaper.
I want something that is atleast on par w/ the G5's specs, as well as audio quality. Besides some light internet use (I don't use social media), I mainly use the phone for music, both headphones and speaker, and calls/texts. I don't care about the camera specs, fingerprint and facial scanners (I don't even lock my phone with the keypad lock). I just want a phone that doesn't lag, sounds good (quality, as well as, dB of loudspeaker; I think the XZ1 might have stereo speakers), enough internal storage for Apps and a SD slot.

yes, my issue is just like yours, but I always temp fixed it by restarting the phone, never having to take off the battery, and also yes, mine seems to get worse as time passes by, in the beginning a restart used to fix the issue for more than a day or even two. by now a restart just fix it for like minutes, no matter how many times I restart it, so this is turning into a huge thing for me.
flashing the kdz will probably wipe out your internal storage. I never used backup applications like LG Backup, I basically use Google photos for media backup and the built-in android backup that downloads all your apps with your data when I put your google account in a cleaned phone.
I totally understand your point by wanting to buy another phone, but I hugely wouldn't recommend you to buy a xperia. any fix for this phone can be very expensive, and they don't use to be easy to fix, G5 do though. by this pricing range I definitely recommend you to buy an oneplus phone or especially a xiaomi phone. with aroung $350 you can get a poco f1 from AliExpress. it's an awesome phone, and it has a huge community, you'll be able to find any kind of roms for it in xda and lots of tips by its happy users. it sports a snapdragon 845 and 6gb of ram, which is basically the hardware present on this year's flagships.

Lame. So it seems like this problem will just continue to spiral out of control. What do you mean by an expensive fix for the Xperia? Is there something that commonly breaks on these, or are they known to be unreliable? Are any of the phone's u mentioned compact? I looked at One Plus phones when I was buying this G5 and remember them being gigantic. The G5 is a bit too big for my liking, but it blew away every other phone in it's price range.
Also, the $350-400 price range is the reason I don't already have the XZ1. Both me and my wallet would prefer something closer to the G5 price. 6 GB of RAM seems a bit unessacary for what I use my phones for...I forgot to mention that I don't play games either. The G5 has worked flawlessly for me, and it has 4 GB, right? I was thinking that I might be able to get away with 3 GB, tho I'm hesitant to go that route. My last couple phones before the G5 had 2 GB, and they were a bit laggy. I'm not sure how much is due to processing speed, RAM, or both.

yeah I know 6gb can be more than the necessary, but the extra gigabytes comes just as bonus for the phone's price. $300-$350!!! it's so cheap. and as this phone has that borderless design, it's not a big phone, probably almost the same size of G5 or something like. I think this phone is a total worth, especially when someone's just looking for a mid-range phone and gets a flagship. I would recommend you to search about it. but if you're really looking for a mid-range phone, you could take a look at Mi8 SE, which sports a snapdragon 710 and has a good pricing range.
