Is this normal? - LG V30 Questions & Answers

Hi.
Even though I have camera app restricted from running in the background, it appears it still does, for a long time.

If not - any Ideas how I stop it?

You're welcome.
Answers are to use an app that hibernates chosen apps when you're not using them. Greenify is best known. Here's some alternatives to try:

I've tried that app, but for some reason my camera app shows as still running constantly in the background.

Three possible reasons I can think of...
1) Maybe it's LG intended behavior -- so when you do want to take a picture, the camera opens instantly.
2) Is stock camera all you have installed? No other 3rd party cameras app, which would use the V30 camera infrastructure?
3) How many of your apps have "camera" permission? Like messaging apps? If those are running, it's possible the camera will also need to run in the background in case you want to use it.

I'm pretty sure it's intended by LG, their camera app is VERY heavy, so keeping a portion of it in memory helps a lot to take a quick picture. I do not recommend force closing it, you'll be annoyed by the loading times.

Yeah, doesn't seem to use any battery running in the background.
The screenshot shows 1% Battey use over 39 hours and 19 minutes -- and that 1% was probably mostly generated during the "3 minutes" the camera was active. The other 39 hours and 16 minutes was around zero?

I don't see why they wouldn't...it is the same Android Wear isn't it? (aside from a few extra apps here and there)
Working on a app uninstaller too. I know this isn't supposed to be a standalone device and this stuff will probably only be in the rom I am working on. It's all new to be but I'm enjoying messing with it. ?
I think wear does need an uninstaller. Some wear apps dont show in the launcher of your phone, only in the apps list on play (where they can get buried easily) or worse on the apps tab on the phones settings menu.
As it stands if you have a problem with your phone you cant do anything with a Wear device. So if that app is malware, or otherwise borks your phone and/or watch, tough.

Yes! It will be great a "night" mode. I sleep with the watch, and I want that:
- the screen must be off
- it must change to on (but dimmed) with a touch, double touch or something similar, but not with the movement of my arm
- it must be easy to activate/deactivate this "night" mode
It will be a very useful utility!
And now I'm playing

Google Camera HDR+ (V4.0) ported to SD820/821 and works with G6

I'm testing it, and it's working like a charm, everything works, including slow motion video at 120fps and Lens blur. It can be installed on rooted and unrooted devices.

Nope. There is no Wide lens on Google Pixel
Sample pics
I tested it and it really makes the G6 camera live up to its true potential! Cant believe the difference http://imgur.com/a/blrWe
For anyone that also uses Norton, there is a conflict and Norton will flag it as maleware. You can't "trust" it and you can't dismiss the Norton notification.
Everything works for me except photosphere. It will capture a photosphere image, but it's distorted and stretched.
Despite that, the HDR+ function works so good, and I think it looks better than the LG camera.
I've tested it, result: both are good, but LG more real and google HDR+ more punchy. However I fiind LG calera better...
No matter how much 3rd party camera offers, only stock camera takes better picture.
thanks for this post! wouldn't know otherwise, i did test it and its pretty awesome!
Especially more realistic colours in low light if you can keep the camera stable. Not to be used for moving subjects.
In Daylight, the G6's camera is great by itself so i probably won't use it in those scenarios.

Left is LG Camera, Right is Google camera w/ HDR+
Real life looked very close to how the Google camera processed the image.
@dkimmortal that comparison is great! Can't believe how Google app made a difference there!
Here's my quick comparison also, difference is night and day! What's wrong with LG?
Testing it so far seems its shocking in low light? Images are so noisy, poor colour.
Sounds great, but can't even get it to install on my G6 (european).
I Download the apk, click ist to install, but just can't hit the "install" button, just "cancel".
Of course "other sources" are allowed in settings. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

This camera is Google's (pixel camera to be more precise) and the phone it was made for has only one lens, so I dont think there is a way to get the other lens working (unfortunately)

You may have some app that have screen overlay on (draw over other apps) like screen rotation or f.lux. Find it and disable that permission when install this.
Tried it today in low light and its a significant improvement. Not sure about daylight so will look at that as well. Obvioulsy only works with one lens.
Mine keeps crashing sometimes when I take a photo - I think it might be due to setting the resolution at 16:9 (9.7mp) resolution. Missed a great shot as well!

Greenify auto hibernate and Android 7+

Hi there,
I struggle for a while to make this work and couldn't find any help in relevant devices' forums. Hopefully, this is a simple issue with a simple solution.
So, ever since I updated to nougat and even Oreo, with one plus 3T and ph1, the latter still on nougat, all stock, unrooted, greenify complains every once in a while that can't hibernate automatically, so it prompts me to either revise my lock settings or do it manually.
For instance, on this device, to keep things simple, I only lock from power button or when display timeouts by itself. Automatically lock is set to 1 minute. Power button is set to not instantly lock.
Also, in battery optimization settings, greenify shows as not optimized. I never keep my phone on battery saving or other exotic mode.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks.Have tried the idea, several times.
For instance, on op3 I had to factory reset even after Oreo update. I also factory reset ph1 a few days ago due to phone being all sorts of slow. I didn't even enable nova dt2s gesture to keep it simple. Yesterday I uninstalled the beta and reverted back to normal app, still no luck.
I assume there's gotta be something simple such as a step I forgot?
To reiterate my issue, greenify sometimes says the auto hibernate stopped working so I have to use it manual mode.

I've seen this screen on android 8 for the first time after several updates of the greenify app... Searching on other forums people suggest reinstall and clean data of the greenify but reading replies, the issue still remains so I doubt on trying this.
Maybe it's due to google plans of completely removing accessibility..?!

Question Loving this phone and aodNotify, what other Apps do people use to enhance the phone experience?

Long story short, coming from a long time Huawei fanboy but now have an S23 Ultra. From a thread on here I’ve discovered aodNotify and love it. That got me thinking, what other apps do people consider essential to enhance the phone experience?

Battery, Cam/Mic/GPS Access indicator around your punch-hole camera lens!
play.google.com
This lets you put a battery ring around the camera punch hole to make it useful. It also allows me to clear up my notification area and not have battery Icon/percentage there.
I just think it looks cleaner:

Just tried it, can’t get it to align on my S23 Ultra
Also, in case anyone is wondering, you can remove most of the icons on the Status bar:
Install Good Lock: https://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.samsung.android.goodlock
Launch Good Lock and install QuickStar
Enable Quick Star
Tap Visibility of Indicator Icons

Not sure what to say here... I followed my instructions and was able to position it just fine.
One thing I can say is if you message the Dev, he's very responsive (he's even here on XDA (https://forum.xda-developers.com/m/jagan2.1884109/)) so you can message him and see if there is something he can help with.
I'll keep poking around and see if there was anything else I can think of that I did. I'll uninstall and reinstall to see if that can replicate what you are seeing and what I did to fix it.
Found the issue, my screen resolution is set to FHD+ and not WQHD+
If I change it to WQHD+ it's fine. I'll inform the dev.
Cheers.

Question Add Google Lens to Recent Button? Better use of Lens in One UI?

Hello,
I recently moved from Android One to One UI 5.1.
Mi A2 Lite to S23 Ultra
The recent button in One UI has only one option: Close All
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The recent button in Android One, however, has three options: Clear All, Lens, and Screenshot
And that Lens option is magic. Because in whatever application you are, you can use that to translate, search, ... in that screen.
Could we add this option to the recent button of the S23 Ultra?
Or is any workaround to run Google Lens on One UI such that we can use its abilities?
The only possible way I found was to take a screenshot and open it in Lens which is very annoying since I have to take a screenshot and delete it after say translating the text inside it.
I also have the same need, but there is really nothing I found.
Maybe you could try Bixby vision that is more integrated in the one UI
I loved this lens function on my pixel 6 A simple way to save photos without taking a screenshot. I miss this feature in Galaxy S23 Ultra :/
Highly desireable feature, I also moved from a pixel 7 pro and extensively used Google lens for copying text from pics & such and the smart select function on one ui is not nearly as good!

It's already installed but not integrated as in aosp roms. You have to take a screenshot and then go to lens and find that screenshot. Then you're able to translate or copy a text inside that photo.
