Following the US AT&T update I got yesterday, dex for pc is finally supported on the Fold!
DeX or DeX for Windows? The former connects to an HDMI port on a monitor as an alternate input source and the latter connects to the DeX app running on a Windows PC via a USB-C cable. The U1 version got updated before the AT&T version and only allows DeX via HDMI.

Dex for windows.
Not for everyone. There appears to be two versions of the November update. I have no idea the differences other than one having dex for windows and the other does not. Unfortunately I'm with the does not side
Color me skeptical. There's a DeX for PC app that needs to be installed on the phone for it to work. It's not installed on the U1 version and won't install when side loaded (it's on APK Mirror). AT&T disables a ton of Samsung features which is why I'm on U1 in the first place and I find it odd they'd be leading the way on DeX. DeX via HDMI works fine on U1 but DeX for PC is MIA. Can anyone else on the AT&T version verify DeX for PC (via USB C) works?
I have the AT&T version and Dex for windows is working great now. It did not work prior to the update.
Latest update with the december security patch brings dex to the fold 5g in the uk
Had an update mid-November on my ATT fold, flashed it to U1 firmware in October and still no DeX on PC.........
ASL1.... still no dex for windows. Anyone have any idea how to get this enabled?
Sure you don't have DEX for Windows?

So, I tried to get jmtpfs to work with my Galaxy S III (the international version, although I suppose the situation would be identical with the US version as well). It doesn't. I tried to use jmtpfs 0.4 with both libmtp 1.1.3 and a git version of libmtp, the result is the same, that is:
Code:
Device 0 (VID=04e8 and PID=6860) is a Samsung GT-P7310/P7510/N7000/I9100/Galaxy Tab 7.7/10.1/S2/Nexus/Note.
PTP_ERROR_IO: failed to open session, trying again after resetting USB interface
LIBMTP libusb: Attempt to reset device
LIBMTP PANIC: failed to open session on second attempt
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'MtpErrorCantOpenDevice'
what(): Can't open device
Aborted
Very nice indeed. Has anyone managed to get this working, and if so, how? FWIW I'm running 64-bit version of Arch.
(On a somewhat related note, why on earth don't manufacturers support plain old USB mass storage mode? It works pretty much anywhere and with anything)
I've been desperately trying to find a solution to the same problems as well. I'm also running Arch x64. My phone is a rooted international S3 with stock kernel and firmware.
As it seems other phone models don't have this problem.
A workaround is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711009
However, you'll only be able to access the external SD card this way.
Has anyone been succesful in using/mounting their S3 with any linux distro?
Same case. I can't connect my GS3 to Kubuntu. There is no USB mass storage protocol in the SGS3.
To transfert files between PC and GS3 it's possible to use OTA USB cable and a usb stick.
Or use application in google play : airdroid with wifi..

Actually there is. It's just not available in the menu.
Use the 'Easy UMS' APK here in XDA (requires root) and you're good to go.
As dieteric already said: only works for external SD though since internal one is virtual.
I am on the forum for a while but this is my first post.
So my situation is the following.
My S3 display broke and the touchscreen with it. I want to know would it be possible to add a bluetooth keyboard with integrated mouse (a Logitech Mediaboard pro) by editing the settings files on the pc and than transferring it to the smartphone?
The phone is rooted, without adb and with usb deubugging disabled but somehow i manage to get Odin detect the phone.
So I thought of editing a recovery.img from the SGS3 Toolkit recovry folder so that when i flash the phone it is already paired with the keyboard.
But I have no knowledge how to do this and a bit of help would be more than apreciated as well as any other method to achieve the above mentioned.
I thought connecting a keyboard and than to tv so i can use it untill i get a new display.
My smartphone model is:
Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 with PDA:LIB, PHONE:LIB, CSC:LI1 (read from kies)
no. buy an OTG adapter and connect a usb mouse. won't be able to hook up video though
Well, I feel kinda n00b:
Is it normal that the Bluetooth transfer speed between Windows 8.1 and the Samsung S3 is just about 170 kb/s?
I got the latest Bluetooth drivers and the Asus site says that I should have Bluetooth 4.0 on my laptop: http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/G75VW/specifications/
This happens with the latest official Samsung Android version and also the CyanogenMod.
What am I doing wrong? *blush*
Try on another computer.
I have
Samsung S6, 5.0.2, rooted
Samsung T705, 5.0.2, rooted
I have the USB drivers installed - the ones you need to flash with ODIN.
The S6 is not recognised by the PC at all via USB.
The T705 presents via USB the following directories
http://peter-ftp.co.uk/screenshots/2015-10-25-191104.jpg
so works as fully as expected. The directories are R/W as they should be.
Is this normal?
Is there any way to access the phone's stuff over USB - at least the DCIM directory (photos)? Presently I can do it but only over wifi (various methods).
The computers I have here all run winXP SP3 but the fact that the T705 works fine suggests that win7 etc would not help.
I think you need to reinstall the samsung usb drivers:
http://androidxda.com/download-samsung-usb-drivers
I did - makes no difference. I even installed the S6 specific ones. The T705 continues to be visible but the phone isn't.
Hello,
Anyone had any issues with their Note 20 not being able to transfer files to PC via USB MTP? I'm on the current June 2021 T-Mobile update and I've tried different cables and PCs/Chromebooks and I get charging but no PC of mine will recognize my phone as a USB MTP device. I've cleared cache and data in the USBSettings app and also enabled debugging mode to set the default usb behavior to 'transferring files' with no luck.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
To update, Dex mode is working fine with a DELL USB-C dock. So far, only file transfer/MTP is my problem child.
