What exactly does "hide logos" do?
And there's a bug, the buttom bar reappears after having used the search bar even although it's disabled in Maps tweak.

Seems kind of finicky. I'm on the lastest stable gmaps and it seemed to change something but the settings didn't "stick".
Edit: Seems like the setting to move the categories closer to top work, but the hide explore/bottom bar works when you open it explore window then slide it down. Then it'll all be hidden.
When I close and reopen the app the bottom bar reappears.

Hide logos Like "Google" logo at the bottom-left corner + some invisible logo that can be shown during usage
Reappearing is not a bug cause all the tweaks working once during startup. The idea is to hide unused bottom slider at the launch time but allow you to use search and show results as usual.

I've changed the slider state detection, so update and try new version. I use the last G-maps version too.

Oh, I see. I didn't even realize the logo up until now. But since you have made me aware of it, it would drive me crazy. So seems like I'm totally dependent on this module now.
Though, version 1.1 automatically opens the Explore Nearby menu after pressing the back button in the search menu. Is it supposed to be that way? I'd personally prefer not having to press the back button an other time to get back to the map.

No Google Maps is responsible for this.
Bottom slider is the base layout for search results, so it opens every time when you search smth. Thus I think it's not good idea to totally remove the slider. I'm not sure if it's safe or useful

But in version 1.0 it was different. I actually just switched back to 1.0 for that reason.

I'm a bit confused. The sole difference is in the calculation of slider state, nothing else. I'll test this
UPD: "Hide bottom bar also" is checked? please white step-by-step what to do to reproduce this

"Hide Explore Nearby bottom slider", "Hide bottom bar also", "Cathegories top list:" "Hide" and "Hide logos" are all checked.
1. Start Gmaps
2. tap on search bar --> keyboard and search menu with recent search results open
3. press back button --> keyboard closes
4. press back button again
a) --> (1.0) shows map and bottom bar
b) --> (1.1) shows "Explore --city-name--" full screen

Great modul, thanks ?

You are right. It was a bug being fixed "by the way". It changed bottom bar behavior. So, test v1.2

Nothing works. Not in gmaps, not in ymaps. Mi9t, 10

Module logs, xposed logs?

Maps 10.30.2, OOS 9.0.9, EdExposed. Working great ! :good:
A debloated GMaps, a pleasure for the eyes
Thank you !

Am I able to update Maps on the Store without breaking much or any of this mod or would it be wise to avoid updating entirely. I know some mods are able to work with subsequent app versions, but wanted to know for sure before trying it myself and doing the odious Google app revert.

I'm using the last version of GM from playmarket (but I prefer Yandex) and all the mods are workable at the moment. So try to update, check the chosen mods and and tell me if smth wrong

Hello First, thank you for the nice module Second: I've notice that when I enable "Hide Explore Nearby" and I open Google Maps in split screen mode, Explore Nearby panel fills the whole Maps half-screen. Is it a bug? Thank you in advance.

Hello! Unfortunately I don't have Note or any other phone with large screen, so I can not test this issue at the moment. Please make screenshots for me (GM, switch off and on the module), maybe I can understand what's the problem

Sure, I should have done that at first Screenshots attached, one with the Hide Explore Nearby turned off, second with turned on. I want to notice that without split screen mode the module works 100% properly. Thanks for help!

Status Bar Hack for Nookie-Froyo Updated: 4/10

This package places the status bar on the bottom, add soft buttons to the status bar and remaps home button to toggle the status bar on and off for applications that don't normally display the status bar.
I would like to thank rookie1 for the buttons on the status bar and Samuelhalff for help moving the status bar to the bottom and the notification button.
Version 4-10-11
Changed home button back to the defaults
Created a separate app for toggling the status bar called Status Bar Toggle. This app will allow you to toggle the status bar by just tapping the app once or by clicking on the notification.
Removed the status bar service feature from Nookie-Froyo Utils. It is in the new app.
Added QuickDesk app.
If you configure QuickDesk app to open with double click, then you can put the new app there to toggle status bar.
Version 4-7-11
Long press home button toggles the status bar
Renamed NookColorUtils to Nookie-Froyo Utils
Long press menu displays search
Added a service to Nookie-Froyo:
This service does not force the status bar to be displayed. To force the status bar to be displayed, long press the Home Button; long press again to turn the feature off. If you are in an application when you do this, the status bar will not be displayed until you exit the application and relaunch it. This service was added to overcome this limitation. When the service is running, a long press of the Home Button will cause the status bar to update by placing an icon on the status bar and sending an Ongoing notification to the notification window. The result is that the status bar will appear without requiring you to exit the application. This icon and notification will also serve as an indicator that the status bar is being forced to be displayed. Long press the Home Button again and the status bar will disappear in applications that do normally have the status bar."
Version 3-31-11
Cleaned up the icons
Change the height of the status bar to 32px
Fixed an issue to make the status bar display properly at 200 Density
NookColorUtils.apk 3-27-11 Version 0.2.0
I added a tab to force or not to force the Status Bar for Runtime
If you already have it installed, uninstall first.
adb install nookcolorutils.apk
I will add this to the next zip release
Version 3-27-11:
I've add the capability to force the status bar or not. Just add the following line to /system/build.prop not force the status bar
Code:
sys.force_status_bar=false
or to force the status bar to always show,
Code:
sys.force_status_bar=true
I will come up with a graphic app to do this in the near future. Until then, you will have to edit /system/build.prop manually.
Version 3-26-11:
Cleaned up the the top bar on the notification window by removing the grap handle
Long pressing home now behaves the same as long pressing the physical button
The buttons on the status bar now gives feedback (Orange glow)
The icons look kind of ugly. Does anyone want to take a crack at making some icon? Wretchedlocket? They need to be 42x28. Two icons per button. One normal and one for pressed (feedback).
Version 3-24-11:
Force status bar to be always present
Got rid of the weird flick up to bring the expanded status bar down
Brought the the buttons closer together.
Changed the order of the icons on the left (Thanks wretchedlocket, you saved me a lot of time trying to figure out what file determined the order of the icons.)
Version 3-23-11:
FC issue for the browser and the dolphin has been fixed! Network location is working again.
Got rid of the ugly buttons
Version 3-22-11:
Moved buttons to the right.
Expand status bar button now toggles.
In the works:
Push up brings the bar down. Needs to be fixed.
Make the status bar black.
Version 3-20-11:
Status Bar moved to the bottom.
Notification Bar expands up and collapses down.
Notification button added to the status bar.
In the works:
Push up brings the bar down. Needs to be fixed.
Make the status bar black.
Version 3-18-11:
Escape, Menu, and Home buttons on the left side of the status bar.
Messages and Icon are center vertically on the status bar.
Notification drop down full screen for all LCD densities.
Flashable version is for the eMMC. I don't have an SDCARD version yet. Look in the zip if you want to manually copy the files. Copy both /system/app and /system/framework.
Version 3-19-11:
Put in working Browser.apk. You will need to tap the address bar quickly then open another page, this wil give you time to set the homepage.

Great work, but since installing to eemc last night i've had two cases where the touch-screen tap was not recognized (one in Angry Birds, one in TapaTalk), and the only way to cure it was a hard reboot using the power button. I could slide the screens but no taps were recognized on any screen (including the home screen) once it happened.
Never had this with the stock framework - I've turned OC down in case that was the reason.
In retrospect, I wish I had backed-up the existing framework files so that I could easily reinstall the stock framework should I ever decide to....

I've had no problem with Angry Birds, but I don't use TapaTalk. Which kernel are you using?
If it installed correctly - I'm using Daligrin's 2/25 for Froyo - I backed off from the 3/8 version when I was having wifi connect problems. I don't know how to confirm because I always get the same kernel version in settings, regardless of what I try to install:

Try clearing dalvik-cache and cache from CWR.
Thanks Brian - I've wiped 'em both.
Let's just keep an eye on it. I didn't mean to make a major issue here, after all it might not be related. I'll just call it one of life's little mysteries for now, and I'll holler again if it is a persistent problem.
Thanks again for the great work.
Great work on latest version. Any idea why both stock browser and dolphin both fc when you go to google homepage? Any work around? I can go to the browser address bar to search using google from there.

Good, I was just about to tell you about this thread in the other thread.
Brian, this is excellent! Really.
Awesome going to port to cm7?
Very nice work! Would you consider a version with the buttons on the right side of the status bar? I think its more intuitive for a right handed person to reach for buttons that are on the right side of the screen instead of crossing over the screen with their hand and blocking it.
brianf21, let me know when you get the browser fc fixed. People request this mod in my theme all the time and ask me about the browser FC
I think by the time we get done with all this stuff, we'll have made the Nook the way B&N should have
Great work so far. Good to see more development on this mod

Thanks for this! I have tired the other hacks but never got them to work. No problems at all with this one.
Well, one problem. How do I set another launcher instead f the default one? I tried clearing defaults in "Settings> Applications> Manage applications> All> Launcher" but "Clear defaults" is grayed out.
For now I am just putting my Zeam shortcut on the launcher home screen but I would like to set Zeam as default.
Thanks for this!

[Q] status bar help

Hey everyone, I've been searching and can't find any info about the problem I'm having. I'm using tnt lite 4.3.2 and have adw.launcher (free version) installed. The status bar at the top of the screen can be pushed up to hide and I want it to stay stationary. When it goes up and hides it starts locking up when I pull it back down to view it. I've gone into adw's settings and unchecked "hide the status bar" so it doesn't hide on its own but if I swipe up on the screen by accident it goes up and hides. I'm assuming it's supposed to hide like this but I would think there would be a way to lock it so its always visible. Or even better, a fix to prevent it from locking up when I unhindered it.

Hiding the Status bar for Android 4.0 tablets

I've tracked down why some apps don't changed the status bar for tablets running ICS. There was an API change where tablets now use a different method to dim the status bar. I already passed this along to the Plex team who have put it in their test build for their next release. If you have an app you'd like this put into please pass the following information along to the dev team:
Controls for system UI visibility
Since the early days of Android, the system has managed a UI component known as the status bar, which resides at the top of handset devices to deliver information such as the carrier signal, time, notifications, and so on. Android 3.0 added the system bar for tablet devices, which resides at the bottom of the screen to provide system navigation controls (Home, Back, and so forth) and also an interface for elements traditionally provided by the status bar. In Android 4.0, the system provides a new type of system UI called the navigation bar. You might consider the navigation bar a re-tuned version of the system bar designed for handsets—it provides navigation controls for devices that don’t have hardware counterparts for navigating the system, but it leaves out the system bar's notification UI and setting controls. As such, a device that provides the navigation bar also has the status bar at the top.
To this day, you can hide the status bar on handsets using the FLAG_FULLSCREEN flag. In Android 4.0, the APIs that control the system bar’s visibility have been updated to better reflect the behavior of both the system bar and navigation bar:
The SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_LOW_PROFILE flag replaces the STATUS_BAR_HIDDEN flag. When set, this flag enables “low profile" mode for the system bar or navigation bar. Navigation buttons dim and other elements in the system bar also hide. Enabling this is useful for creating more immersive games without distraction for the system navigation buttons.
The SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_VISIBLE flag replaces the STATUS_BAR_VISIBLE flag to request the system bar or navigation bar be visible.
The SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_HIDE_NAVIGATION is a new flag that requests the navigation bar hide completely. Be aware that this works only for the navigation bar used by some handsets (it does not hide the system bar on tablets). The navigation bar returns to view as soon as the system receives user input. As such, this mode is useful primarily for video playback or other cases in which the whole screen is needed but user input is not required.
You can set each of these flags for the system bar and navigation bar by calling setSystemUiVisibility() on any view in your activity. The window manager combines (OR-together) all flags from all views in your window and apply them to the system UI as long as your window has input focus. When your window loses input focus (the user navigates away from your app, or a dialog appears), your flags cease to have effect. Similarly, if you remove those views from the view hierarchy their flags no longer apply.
To synchronize other events in your activity with visibility changes to the system UI (for example, hide the action bar or other UI controls when the system UI hides), you should register a View.OnSystemUiVisibilityChangeListener to be notified when the visibility of the system bar or navigation bar changes.
See the OverscanActivity class for a demonstration of different system UI options.

Say I have an app running, how would I go home or back without the nav bar? We have no physical buttons or capacitive buttons...
Sure some apps let you quit from the app itself but others don't.
Are u saying you would like to have it duck outta the screen?
Modded by MBOK
It would be nice if it was sorta programed as it was on the GNex when in apps such as YouTube when viewing a video in full screen the buttons disappear (actually disappear not dim out) and when you touch the screen the buttons reappear.

Yep agree... this thing with menu top right and notifications bottom left is nuts. Buttons should be near the bottom where I hold it. Ideally the menu buttons (Inc app drawer) would be bottom right and notification top right.
Actually all devices have power button which can be used for getting back from fullscreen mode.
There is an issue on code.google (24546): hxxp://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24546
I think it's pretty nice solution. Also there can be "hide" button on panel.

How to Hide the Grey Nav Bar on HAM2 Using Emotion UI Settings

Hi All,
It took me a while to figure out, but you can add an option to hide the grey nav bar on an unrooted HAM2 and make it reappear by swiping up. It is somewhat confusing because the nav bar setting is not available if you have your Emotion UI set to the Standard home screen style. You have to apply the "Simple" home screen style first, which is the one with the giant colored buttons for grandma to use.
After you apply the Simple home screen style, go back into settings, select More Settings and then scroll down to the bottom of the list. You will see a new option called "Navigation Bar" has been added. If you press this option you will see a toggle switch for "Hide Navigation Bar" along with some instructions on how to use it. Once you have toggled the switch to hide the navigation bar, you can revert back to the Standard Emotion UI and the setting will be retained.
After I hid the navigation bar I found some apps I had difficulty installing would start to work OK. For example, if you try to install NBA Jam without hiding the navigation bar, it will get hung on the initial splash screen. After I hid the navigation bar, NBA Jam would check for updates and then proceed to the game without any problem.
Hope this helps anyone having difficulty with the nav bar!

This is the Kitkat feature I missed the most. My main motivation to buy a HAM2 was to read novels in it, instead of carrying a smaller phone and a tablet. For that purpose, the screen is stunning, but that dammed gray navbar was always in the way. Not anymore!
Thank you so much for this tip. You made my day!
Wow, nice find!
Now I have a bit more room on this already huge display. Thanks! :good:

This option should be there regardless of what launcher u are using.. It's a standard feature in the settings.. No? I have a China version on 4.4.2.. No sure if there's a difference though..

A bit laggy compared to using one of the root options.

Hi All,
It took me a while to figure out, but you can add an option to hide the grey nav bar on an unrooted HAM2 and make it reappear by swiping up.

Thank you,.!.!
Only reason I wanted to rood was immersive mode, this is close enough.
I love this phone even more now - coming from a 32gb One plus one.
Damn! You had a oneplus one? I got an invite but I'm gonna have to pass on that

WOW!!! Thanks so much for sharing this great find. It works GREAT!!!!!
Thanks given. This was the only reason I was rooted. Along with greenify. Now with the ability to hide the navbar and the ability to disable background apps included in the stock ROM, I really don't have any need for root. I still might use links2sd to install more apps if I hit that 6gb limit. This phone is solid!
Making the navigation bar hidden is called "immersive mode". There are apps on the Play Store that supposedly let you toggle immersive mode. Please post your results if you try one.
I'm guessing those apps will let you switch to immersive mode independent of standard or simple mode.

Note - After checking-in SkyolinHelper under Module section of Xposed, and then doing Soft Reboot under Framework section, my device got stuck bootlooping. But long press on Power Button brought full functionality fairly fast.
Floating button doesn't disappear, although i ticked the option.

Works for me. Floating button was there at first, but gone after I went through all settings.
Hi.The module works without issue. But I have a feature request. I know on xhalo floating windows you was able to move the floating windows and from corner to resize that window. Is possible in the next future to add this options? Thank you!
OP, thanks for this module. Is it possible that instead of defining which apps open in floating mode, we can set all apps to open in floating mode through the floating button, much like PA's Halo? Much appreciated, thanks.

Nice work [emoji106]
Need some more tweaks like "remember Movable & Resizable settings" if app closed and a option to hide the title bar. Add drag & drop from another corner like xhalo

I got stuck at the bootscreen. I long pressed power button, volume up and got it booted up. It works but it's inconvenient. It'd be nice if you could fix it.
Um...
This is good app but I want to run application windowed mode by 'only' Skyolin App launch box.
(Normally open app in app drawer,
but Windowed mode by Skyolin App launch box.)
And I want to open Skyolin App launch box by shortcut. Not only floating icon.
Support please.
Then will be more perfect!
does this work for 6.0? bootloop is all I get here on CandySIX.
Is this mod working on cm roms, example aicp rom 6.01

If you disable "Force Floating", it will only run in windowed mode by opened from the floating button.
If you enable "Force Floating", it will run in windowed mode by opened from anywhere.
Thanks! Where did the module name come from?
