I tried to root my phone but I failed among the many steps. I just flashed US998 ROM on my V300L because I ****ed up and flashed the wrong ROM instead of the stock ROM. And I didn't unlock my bootloader so I can't install TWRP. I tried to revert back to V300L ROM with LGUP but it's not connecting to my computer(I tried using another computer and a different cable.). And on download mode screen it says:
Unknown B78
Official / E / L / RO
It seems that the version I wrongly flashed was an Oreo Rom.
Update: Since then the device boots up to setup page but after a while it just reboots. It connects to my computer while in this state.
Please, help me get my phone back.

Both H930 and US998 KDZ you were to flash are early Oreo KDZ. It's just you were supposed to flash the H930 first, unlock bootloader, then flash US998 to get modem working again. Also after bootloader is unlocked, V30 "trust chain" or whatever it's called is more permissive -- which is probably why you can't flash US998 first to unlock bootloader, but can after bootloader unlock on H930.
I notice those instructions (if that's what you were using) reference older versions of TWRP, root check disabler and encryption disabler. You need newer versions of those files, especially TWRP. You need 3.2.3.7. Newer versions of those files are found in the WTF Instructions. If you read that post, read in a web browser, not an app.
For your immediate problem, the only things I can suggest to you is to:
0) Try Master Reset to perhaps stop the bootlooping? May or may not work in this instance. But it's what we use after cross flashing North American variants. However, even then, we often have to go back to Nougat first.
With your device powered off, press and hold the Power button and Volume Down buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.
When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while keep holding the Volume Down button.
Let go of the buttons when the onscreen menu appears.
When you see the option to Delete all user data (including LG and carrier apps) and reset all settings message prompt, press the Volume Down button to highlight Yes.
Then press the Power button to reset the device.
Wait until the reset is complete then reboot your device. If it’s able to boot up successfully, proceed with the initial setup.

1) manually go into Download mode before starting LGUP (power off completely, then hold volume up button while plugging in USB cable)
2) try both the newer Pie Dev Patched LGUP as well as the older "Oreo" Dev Patched LGUP. Pie LGUP does work on even Oreo and Nougat but there are certain situations -- and this may be one of them -- where the older Dev Patched LGUP is needed. Read the installation instructions carefully for both versions (they are different!) and uninstall any prior version each time you install another. Besides uninstalling, you may need to actually delete the LG Electronics/LGUP subfolder in the Windows Programs folder.

I was on Pie when I tried to root. I followed this instruction also by bilong9 https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/root-lg-v30v300slk-pie-t3957505
I did master reset. After doing that I got the phone to boot but after 3 or 4 seconds it would just reboot. It's just an endless cycle.
I booted into Download mode before connecting to LGUP. My computer doesn't connect to my device when in Download mode. I tried using different cables and computers none of them worked. Same results on everything.

ChazzMatt, I have tried removing and installing both versions of the patched lgup and I'm at a loss. The DualMode zip doesn't read my phone and I notice it doesn't have the common folder when I run the dev batch file. The Oreo patched lgup goes into the set but it states the Dll =0. I am running a vs996 and trying to downgrade to 10d. I am at a 30c right now. Could you tell me a step by step of what you do to get the Dual mode zip patched lg up to work? The process I am filling is remove old, restart, install lg up, run admin on dev batch file, then restart and hook up in dl mode. Always tells me that it can't find my model.

I have problem with lg v30.
It is v30 VS996 (maybe). but it was flashed US998 Pie. And now it has an error on camera and fingerprint.
I can not enter download mode to flash stock rom and bootloader is locked.
Please, tell me what should i do.
Thank you very much.

So, got my V30 here, Frankensteined H931 to US998, never had basically any issues with it so far. Decided to attempt to install the TWRP flashable US998 30b from John Fawkes and that's when all hell broke loose. But I won't get into all that, here's the primary issue now:
I get Download Mode when I power the V30 off and hold Volume Up + insert USB cable (and I've done this with multiple USB cables as well as multiple USB ports), but I never get a connection to the computer anymore in that mode. Nothing, no connects at all, no sounds to indicate a connection, while the V30 shows it's in Download Mode and is waiting for a connection.
If I power it off back to TWRP (3.2.3.7, just flashed earlier as instructed because of the Pie attempt), I get all the proper connections, sounds, etc, can copy files over to the internal as well as external storage, no issues.
Normally when most people say they can't get into Download Mode it's some issue where the device won't power on into that mode when the USB cable is attached - that's not the case here as stated: it powers on and says Download Mode and waiting for a connection, but regardless of any USB cable or port there's never a connection.
I'm suspecting it's a software issue since obviously on a reboot into TWRP the USB port works exactly as expected.
Any suggestions? Because of this I'm unable to do a clean proper US998 20h KDZ flash or the 30b KDZ flash either so thankfully I did have a backup of my previous 20h Oreo install. Of course, because it's all pooched now that is effectively useless because of course of the encryption and upon restoring the backup it won't boot because of the password crap and forces me to format DATA and start all over again.
/me hates encryption when this BS happens, seriously...
So, any tips or tricks that might get me back to a working connection with Download Mode? Flashing a particular partition or something? I'm basically about to redo it with a clean 20h TWRP flashable here in a bit, not left with many other options now.
Anything is appreciated, thanks...
1) Try flashing US998 20e TWRP-FLASHABLE zip. See if that gets you download mode back.
If not, then
2) Try different LGUP.
______
After you get Download mode back, try these steps. Helpful people been testing this out...
For users with TWRP who get stuck on LG logo.
* Flash Verizon VS996 Nougat Partition DL -- EXCEPT for Recovery partitions, to keep TWRP. Do NOT choose all partitions!
You will probably lose download mode, but you've prepped your phone, corrected any partitions. (This is not just for Verizon users, this is for all North American variants -- except for T-Mobile H932.)
* Flash US99820e TWRP flashable zip to get back Download mode.
* Then REFURBISH to US998 20h KDZ.
* Now flash TWRP recovery again and then flash John's zip US99830b.

See Instructions above. Going to write something up in the US998 thread.
Yah, the 20e thing got download mode working normally meaning when the device went into that mode I'd get the traditional notification from Windows that a USB device was now attached - that's what was missing previously for whatever reason.
So I flashed 20h clean with the dev patched LGUP, no issues with Partition DL because I wanted it truly clean without anything that shouldn't be there, and that meant the factory recovery partition as well.
Then I attempted to flash the 30b KDZ, no joy, just stuck at the LG logo and I've wasted enough time on this now so, I'll just wait till some other point and maybe give it a shot in the near future.
Kinda sucks starting over totally clean but hey, this phone has worked near-perfectly since I got it in May so it'll be fine with a clean fresh start. I'm not even going to install Magisk this time, I can't think of a single reason I even need root anymore but if I do I'll worry about that a later time.

You need to do the VS996 Nougat Partition DL step. It preps the phone.
This is what you need to do:
I have all the steps above. The first 20e flash was just to get Download mode back.

Let me start firstly by saying, thank you ChazzMatt! V30 owners around the globe are incredibly fortunate to have your dedicated write-ups and support for these terrific phones. FWIW, I'm seriously impressed with the level of knowledge and your willingness to deep dive issues with folks... thanks again!
Getting to the topic however; I have the identical issue occurring with my LS998U (V30+) that I just went through the unlock process with yesterday. This morning I TWRP flashed the VS99630c ROM and everything worked A-OK except download mode. Exact same symptoms as br0adband is describing - phone appears to enter download mode as normal (though the initial "LG V30 ThinQ" boot screen appears to have replaced the bootloader warning screen?) but is not initiating the USB port for a connection at all.
Connections are established and work normally in TWRP and when booted into the OS so there appears to be something fundamentally wrong with Pie or the flash method.
I'm 99% confident it's not a PC side issue as there isn't even a connection for LGUP or drivers to fault out on.. I also tried my other US998 phone which is on dotOS and everything worked normally.
I'm about to try the TWRP flashable 20e per ChazzMatt's suggestion and will report back if I have success (or not).

VS996 firmware doesn't have bootloader unlocked warning. Verizon never thought it would ever be unlocked.
While flashing 20e should give you download mode back, to me or seems both of you are sort of missing the point of the preliminary VS996 Nougat Partition DL flash (while omitting the Recovery partitions to keep TWRP)
Maybe in your case you don't need it -- since you made it to the other side of Pie, but that Nougat flash fixes any Partition problems. Just be sure to keep TWRP during that.
You may temporarily lose download mode again
Then TWRP-flashable zip US998 20e fix that.
Then REFURBISH to US998 20h. You'll temporarily lose TWRP at that point.
Re-Install TWRP and the three root files.
Then flash US998 30b TWRP-flashable zip.

While my "missing the point" is entirely possible ChazzMatt, I was under the impression that I was already AT the preliminary Nougat step after having just stepped through the Frankenstein and unlock methods?
My progression through those steps was simply;
Frankenstein per your post here; https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...ssflashing-t3780969/post76510671#post76510671
Unlock the bootloader, install TWRP et. al. per your directions here ;https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76584629&postcount=193
Upon completing these steps, Nougat is already installed at which point I figured I was ready to flash VS99630c. What am I missing here... should I have reflashed Nougat?
I didn't have any issues like others are reporting with the upgrade to 30c (TWRP flashed it flawlessly and it booted right up).
It wasn't until I decided I'm not ready for Verizon Pie (tastes gross) and went to step back to US99820h that I realised Download Mode was broken.
Is all of this not just a case of Download Mode being broken in 30c for everyone?

Does Download Mode work for anyone after this step or is TWRP back to a 20 series ROM the only way back to a working LGUP?
Sorry if I'm only confusing things more but I figure I'm not the only one tripping up on this... once I understand it better, I promise I'll step in and help educate other folk
It really is true about ChazzMatt's willingness to help around here.
What I never could understand is why some users, after receiving help AND successfully using it to fix their phones, don't even bother saying thank you. I'll happily spend my daily Thanks quota on helpful posts, even if they have no relevance for me at all. And I see Chazz do the same, every day. Others too, of course. But it seems some people feel being thankful is beneath them. Or something... I just don't understand it.

No, download mode isn't broken for everyone. Most people flash to Pie with no issues and download mode still works. It's when reverting to US998 Download mode seems to go away for a number of poeple (not sure how many and may depend on the LGUP used)
_______
OK, if all you wanted was for Download mode to be restored and you had no problems getting to Pie before that, then ignore what I said.
I thought you were trying to get to Pie and couldn't. In that case the workaround involves flashing Verizon VS996 Nougat -- NOT US998 Nougat like in Frankenstein -- via Partition DL mode except for Recovery partitions. That's a necessary prep stage for Pie. Both people in this thread weren't doing that. OK, so you had good reason. :silly:
THEN going to US998 20e via TWRP flashable zip, which restores Download mode. But if the goal was to get to Pie (yours wasn't) flashing 20e to get Download mode was also step zero. It was also necessary to restore Download mode so you could then flash VS996 Nougat via Partition DL mode (except for Recovery), to then flash back US998 20e TWRP flashable zip AGAIN, to then REFURBISH to US998 20h.
The VS996 Nougat part is important for those people hitting the LG logo wall.

This is good news... thanks for confirming!
I've likely done a few hundred ROM flashes and plenty of roots/unlocks in the past 15-20yrs and this was the first time I had a genuine "Oh crap" moment where a low level mode like Download Mode truly failed.
I was also having trouble getting back into TWRP (Noxx PM refused to work on 30c) which fostered a rapidly growing concern that without TWRP and Download Mode, I was effectively bricked (or at least in for a few hours of work to find a resolution).
I breathed a sigh of relief when attempting a Master Reset led me back to TWRP... I still had options!
Anyhow, it's probably fitting for me to exit this thread on the same subject I entered on by saying thank you again for the information share and willingness to help out :good:
Cheers!

I lost download mode and TWRP for some reason and all I have is system recovery and nothing works in it for me . Is there anything I can do now? All I see is MTP android device.
KDZ 99820a
Hello i wanna thank all of you guys for the amazing support on this device, he LG v30 is an amazing phone just bought a US99830B , downgraded it with LGUP to oreo, unlocked bootloader in oreo and installed TWRP downloaded 99830B flasheable zip and flashed it , then i waned to try lineage 17 and flashed it in TWRP clean install booted up in android 10 but noticed lots of bugs and no WIFI, flashed modem for oreo in TWRP wifi came back up but wanted to go back to PIE restored from a backup that performed for PIE and got botloop maybe because of the incompatible modem, tried download mode, no USB activity back to TWRP restored lineage OS and im back in the system, i took your advice to flash 99820b in TWRP my download mode is back and im on oreo, my question is if i KDZ 99830B from 99820b will download mode still work even tho it doesn't when i flash stock 99830b download mode gets lost, i dont want to flash the KDZ and end up with no download mode and no TWRP and have a hard brick
Update : I have KDZ 99820a using LGUP and locked bootloader I'm back to stock is there any issues if I update to the 99830b which is the original software that the phone came with? Can I perform that update via KDZ?

Losing your download mode has nothing to do with stock.
Why did you lock your bootloader back? You can run stock rooted firmware just fine and have lots of advantages like DTS surround sound stereo.
I don't understand why people lock the bootloader back just because they decide they don't want custom ROMs. The best thing to do is run rooted stock firmware, have everything you want.

Don't get me wrong i like having rooted devices because of the endless possibilities it offers but this time mayor newer games that are coming out they have the ability to detect if you are rooted or if your bootloader has been unlocked and they kick you out of their servers, that's the main reason why i want to go full stock, and I was so afraid to do so because some people are reporting when moving from oreo to pie it creates bootloop and since I had issues when I was rooted and flashed via twrp 99830.zip download mode won't detect the USB cable only when I rolled back with LGUP to oreo downloadode started working and I KDZ oreo to have official recovery and relocked bootloader but I want pie is just I am not sure if I can go up with LGUP to pie using 99830b (which my phone originally came with pie) from 99820b
Could you please help me with the same problem with download mode on h932? I'm on stock pie now. I want to downgrade to nought but my PC not recognize phone in download mode. Thank you.

First try a different USB port, different cable and/or different computer. If you never rooted the phone, there is very little chance that your actual Download Mode got corrupted, and one of the above will most likely solve it (although many doubt it because it sounds too trivial).
Also, make sure you're using the latest Dual Mode Dev patched LGUP from one of ChazzMatt's ROM threads.
Next I would try the Update Recovery mode in LG Bridge (on the Update tab).
Finally, if none of those work, you can try force installing the Pie OTA using LGUP FOTA mode (doesn't require Download Mode). It's described in the thread linked below. Best to read the whole thread for context, it's just a few pages.

Hopefully one of those will work for you. Please report your results, regardless of outcome.
Good luck to you :fingers-crossed:

I tried all things with cabels, PCs and drivers, i'm not sure but as i know LG phone in download mode should be recognized as anything, but in my case i have no any devices in the device manager. I didn't root this phone but i bought it with unlocked bootloader so it is possible that it was rooted. I tried lock bootloader but it didn't helps so i unlocked it again. Now i'm going to try to flash OTA file. Thank you so much for help.

Does Download Mode start on the phone?
Just to make sure: From Power off, press and hold VolUp while plugging in the cable. Then load LGUP. Again make sure you're using the Pie compatible LGUP from one of ChazzMatt's ROM threads.
Otherwise I'd try LG Bridge next.
As for force installing the Pie update with LGUP FOTA (the thread I linked) we've only had one confirmed case of it fixing Download Mode so far, although not many tried it yet. On Oreo we had many users confirming it, but Pie is different.
I should add that if you have working Pie, but just would like to roll back, there is a risk that the FOTA will mess up what you have. So if it doesn't fix your Download Mode, you could be worse of. Just a heads-up

Actually the main problem is that phone doesn't recognize by PC when download mode is on the screen. I have tried to use lg bridge to recover, but anyway it reboots my phone and then my phone doesn't recognize. Now i'm trying to solve lg up error with FOTA update, it looks like wrong dll file. I'll keep you up to date.
Thank you!

Completely uninstall LGUP and remove all folders of it. Then install the Dual Mode LGUP from ChazzMatt's H932 ROM thread linked below, using his exact installation steps. That's important: LGUP isn't just LGUP!

I have a problem search the forum but I did not find my problem promptly.
I recently bought a LG V30 VS996 reizon aliexpress verizon which came with oreo 8, I am from Arentina, these days I got an update to 9pie which I accept download and I gave it to update and I have the problem that it stays loading in the verizon logo I can enter download mode, but when I want to update with LGUP it detects that the phone is a US998 and not a VS996 I have no way for the LGUP to detect that it is a VS996 probe with patches, different versions of LGUP, now I have the doubt if my VS996 is a frankestein?
What step do I have to follow to recover my V30? can i flash a kdz of us998?
please help

You need to use Dev Patched LGUP and you need to read the Frankenstein instructions.
Unless you're a Verizon customer it's probably better to use US998 firmware.

or you say that if LGUP detects me that it is a US998, just install that KDZ of US998, I am in Argentina, so Verizon services do not use

hello thanks for the help, you say it is convenient that I use LGUP and flash a KDZ of US998 in my supposed VS996? since I supposedly have a VS996 and LGUP detects me that it is a VS998.
Can the KDZ ROM be exchanged between these two models?
I am from Argentina and I do not use any of these companies, only the 3g and 4g bands that are the same in Argentina.
The next question is if there is any guide here to use LGUP since I did not find or know what words to use in the search engine because of my English translation.
Thank you !

Go to US998 20h (last Oreo, it's the best of the Oreos).
This first US999 PIE is wonky and some people have problems updating to it. We have a workaround in post #6 of the US998 Pie KDZ thread -- but it involves bootloader unlock and TWRP. It's a little complicated for anyone who isn't even rooted yet.
I'm suggest flashing to US998 20h (not 20b!) and staying there until another US998 Pie KDZ is released.

Ask me to install a valid DDL, how would this be?

Hello again @ChazzMatt, I do all the steps followed in the frankestein guide, I connect the phone in download mode, (the PC detects the drivers) but when I want to start LGUP it gives me an invalid DLL error, I already tried another DLL in the folder of the directory but it always gives me that error, I don't know what to do anymore, they are the same as the screenshots above, restart the PC, reinstall everything, change the USB ports and probe on another computer but still the same, in the installation folder of LGUP there are two icons one that says LGUPD.EXE and LGUPU.EXE apart from the installer using the LGUPD: EX icon I can start the LGUP, but when trying to make the flash following the guide here gives me DLL error, I don't know can

If you are using the LGUP from the Frankenstein instructions, the .dll error means you didn't install it correctly.
I don't see you mentioning the SetDev.bat step?
After Installation, you launch Dev Patched LGUP by using the desktop shortcut, not through an icon in the folder.
Uninstall LGUP from your Programs folder, and reinstall.

Hi @ChazzMatt, I could finally flash it, I tried it on a different computer and with Windos 8, I detect the phone perfectly I could do cross flash, from US998 that detects LGUP to VS996, I perform the flash perfectly at 100.
But it is restarting in the Verizon Logo just as it was not restarting, it is still the same, try the master reset that they cite in the guide post, but I perform the master reset and it remains the same, the truth that I would not know what to do, Can't get into the android system, only the LG V30 logo appears and then the Verizon logo and it is loading, but from that screen does not happen, any other alternative to leave this part?

Your earlier screenshots show you trying to go straight to VS9930 Pie 30c from US998 Nougat 10c. Are you still trying to do that? Frankenstein instructions specifically say you have to flash Nougat first, Master Reset, then you can update to newer firmware.
This means you need to flash VS996 Nougat, Master Reset, then update to newer VS996 firmware.

Flashing chip erase will wipe out IMEI and serial number.
Your phone was brought back to life by Octoplus or something a few months ago, right? So you have stuff in your phone that's different from most people.
In all the LGUP instructions I tell people to not mess with Chip Erase.

I face similar issue when I reset my phone (also h932) and then TWRP deleted and replaced by stock recovery. I tried to install twrp again via lafsploit method no luck. my phone not detected on my PC. so I decide to download LG Bridge and perform an update (I assume that your phone can boot android). If your phone is already running 30d pie then click update error recovery (see image below). If you still on older version you can update to recent version without update error recovery

yes, i did it with unlocked bootloader. in my case, i could enter download mode but my pc couldn't detect any device. have you tried to enter download mode manually? what's look like? mine says "unknown 0/0/0"
if you never try to flash laf partition with another things (e.g stock laf or twrp), it might be still using h933 laf, and that means you can try to flash twrp using fwul

I don't know what laf do I have now, probably is stock laf because after flash pie stock rom I forget to flash RCTD Remover and Disable DM-Verity zip.
Unable to flash TWRP because my phone cannot go to download mode. Thanks anyway.

yes, i did it with unlocked bootloader. in my case, i could enter download mode but my pc couldn't detect any device. have you tried to enter download mode manually? what's look like? mine says "unknown 0/0/0"
if you never try to flash laf partition with another things (e.g stock laf or twrp), it might be still using h933 laf, and that means you can try to flash twrp using fwul

could you solve your problem ???? The same happens to me, if you could answer thank you very much.
lost download mode and twrp, also root.
I would like to know if there is any way}, thanks
Reposting this here for visibility:
Hello all. So I am having a similar issue. I was already running a stock rom and I flashed the stock laf from the stock H932 thread. However, I noticed that the latest laf version from that thread doesn't match the latest firmware. I'm not sure if that was the cause but I lost my download mode abilities and twrp recovery (booting into recovery shows "no command". My bootloader is still unlocked and the device will boot into the stock system but download mode freezes whenever accessed meaning I can't use either oreo or pie LGUP to repair it. It shows Unknown B79 and says Unknown / E / L / RO at the bottom. Does anyone have an idea on if there is anything I can do to restore download mode? I noticed I have Would it cause problems to relock the bootloader at this point, as I would like to relock it with the coming changes to safetynet. Thank you for any help.
I don't have any suggestions other than what was already posted in the H932 root thread.
1) If you're NOT already on Pie, you should be offered an OTA update, which will repair Download mode (at least previous OTA updates did that).
2) If you're already on Pie, you need that Pie OTA file which everybody is looking for. Force flashing that with LGUP in FOTA mode (inside the OS) should also repair Download mode (at least previous OTA updates did that).
Do NOT relock the bootloader unless the phone is completely, 100% stock. Otherwise you'll get a brick on next boot, when signature checks are performed on all partitions. As I understand, this will blow a Qfuse, which is irreversible.

Thanks for the info. I'm already on pie. It seems the .up file is nowhere to be found. I can use the phone as is but with the bootloader unlocked I'm hoping that I won't be affected by the supposed upcoming safetynet changes. Is there no other way to repair the laf partition besides getting a hold of a file it seems no one has? Thanks for your help.

I do understand. But remember that Qualcomm, LG and T-Mobile all went out of their way to make sure that this phone was locked down and un-rootable. They stripped flash and boot commands from fastboot. And they choose RSA signatures different from all the other V30 models, so that it would be like a prison island in the middle of the ocean.
The only reason we can still root it at all, is because of a massive effort by a brilliant and knowledgeable Dev, who reverse engineered the boot and laf code. And he found this narrow path to let us root it.
But that doesn't mean the H932 just rolls over and starts to cooperate with us: It's still designed to make it as difficult as possible for us to do what we're trying to do. And it is very unforgiving of any mistakes.
So once both TWRP and Download mode and root (in the OS) are gone, there's not much left to fix the situation. The only thing left is LGUP FOTA. But it requires an OTA file. Several were posted for Oreo, but none so far for Pie.
Anybody with an H932 and enough time on their hands can capture it, if they're willing to roll back to Oreo (losing their data) then update again using OTA.

I understand, and I am also very grateful for the work put in by that dev and the many others here on xda who help other users out. Perhaps some generous person will be able to do like you mentioned and be able to capture the OTA link. Just out of curiousity, what would that process look like? Roll back to oreo via lgup? And then what would be the best way to capture the link? Could it be done without root? Thanks again for your input.

Yes, roll back to Oreo with LGUP. The best way to do that is via Nougat in Partition DL mode, in order to rewrite the partition table. Then to Oreo from there, Upgrade mode should work.
Then trigger the OTA (if it doesn't come right away) by changing the date forward a few days at a time.
Once the OTA is offered, there is a process to capture the link. I've never done it myself. The OP posted a link in post #1, but XDA scrambled it for the benefit of... well, someone, we'd hope. Google should be able to find it.
One thing I forgot: You can also try LG Bridge Recovery mode, if you haven't already. Some reported it fixed their Download mode, others say it requires Download mode. Worth a try. See post #2.
Edit: Capturing the OTA does NOT require root, that much I remember. I seem to recall you just search through logcat file immediately after starting the OTA download. But again, I haven't done it myself.

Yea, I tried LG Bridge but I ran into the same problem as LGUP. When the phone reboots to enter download mode it freezes in download mode. It does the same thing when I manually enter download mode. I tried different ports, cords, pcs etc. all the same outcome.
However, I may be able to get ahold of another H932 so that I can possibly try my hand at capturing the ota link. I have to be more careful with this one, haha. It was never rooted or bootloader unlocked and I have no intention of doing that. Does it still need to be rolled back to nougat to rewrite the partitions if it was always stock? If so, then I would flash Nougat_h93210c_00_1017.kdz in Partition DL mode selecting all partitions, then flash Oreo_h93220h_00_0416.kdz (in Partition DL mode selecting all partitions again?) and then capture the update url when I get it via adb, correct?
The H932 handset that lost twrp and download mode was last flashed with one of the latest twrp flashable roms based on the kdz and not the actual stock kdz so I hope it still has a chance of working, but at the very least hopefully I can capture the ota url for some other's benefit.
That's a good plan, including the bit about being extra careful
I would first perform a Factory Reset (from Settings menu) while still in Pie. This will save you from FRP and possibly other issues. Then LGUP Partition DL back to Nougat 10d, using the latest Dev Patched LGUP from one of ChazzMatt's threads. Then reboot. If any problems Master Reset (Button Dance). Then LGUP Upgrade to latest Oreo 20s. Reboot.
Make sure you know what to do when you get the OTA offer BEFORE you get it.
I think there's a good chance you'll be able to salvage your other H932. It doesn't have to be completely stock for LGUP FOTA to restore Download mode. At least that's what others reported.
And posting that Pie OTA will be a great help for many people!
Edit: Of course there IS a risk to the unlocked phone. People have had issues going back and forth to Pie. Just saying...

Yes, I have taken a look at the steps to capture the link and they seem simple enoughto just use adb logcat while the ota downloads. But I just want to clarify beforehand... When I use LGUP to partition dl back to nougat I think I should be selecting all partitions, but when I go from nougat to oreo should I be using partition dl again and selecting all partitions once again? Just want to verify, thanks.

I had suggested the Upgrade mode for going from Nougat to Oreo, but you can do Partition DL too. In fact, that may be best since you're going straight from 10d to 20s. Yes, all partitions.
@ChazzMatt: You sometimes warn about going straight up to the latest Oreo. Any thoughts here? Particularly coming from Pie in the first place?

OK, so I flashed the stock phone and got to the point of running logcat. Nothing showed up in the logcat so I used the Take Bug Report method. I found two different ota file urls in the log. One of them was repeated more often so I think that is the correct one. However, I am unsure as to how I should proceed now. Do I need an .up file in order to use fota on the phone with no download mode? Did I perhaps grab the wrong zips? The zips appear to contain all the ota partition files. Trying to use the zip results in a "Windows cannot find WPDAPI.exe" error and an MTP is not running error. Granted this is the LGUP version that i just used to flash the stock phone successfully.

Make sure you are using the Dev Patched LGUP from the Pie KDZ threads. Uninstall any prior version. Read the Troubleshooting Tips in the Pie KDZ threads just below the Dev Patched LGUP installation instructions.
I fixed my problem by flashing US998_20E and it fixed my download mode which appeared to be the problem
Thank you

Hmm no link??? I have the same issue, it all worked and I was going to downgrade again to version A7 and then out of the sudden it does not work anymore. SIGH, so sick and tired of this nonsense.
Whatever it took, I downloaded something which seemed to work and I have downgraded to version 7 - sadly I seem to have lost the link. But here are the files for installing it, first install the msi file and then copy the things in the folder LGUP_pie to the place where it was installed and override anything. And it should work.
So now my F800K is now again running A7, downgraded from A9! Back to looking into rooting and fixing boot loader.
install msi file and copy the things in folder pie into the installation and override it. At least it fixed my issue and downgraded from version 9 to 7.
Just go to ChazzMatt's Stock KDZ thread for your model. It has all the links you need for the correct LGUP version AND the KDZ file AND anything else you're likely to need. PLUS exact steps to install LGUP and perform the flashing. Oh, AND troubleshooting steps in case you have problems.
It's true, it DOES require that you go to the V30 ROM section and click on the thread for your model
LGv30+(H930DS AUS)No LGUP (DLL issues) & can not get bootloader unlocked on stock pie
So I've tried basically every version of LGup and can not find any working solutions at all. I have mixed and matched dlls some that do work however they produce DLL issues and the rest can not read the common file. Im currently on the latest stock pie update and want to try out the Havoc 3.4 (Android 10) OS however I can't even LGUp to work for me to downgrade to oreo (pre july 2018). I've asked multiple people to send me their instructions on how they did it, but it only is followed by this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76584629&postcount=193 which has done absolutely nothing for me. I even spent multiple hours re-reading if I've missed anything but nothing is working. I have also searched on Youtube on step by step instructions but pretty much all of them have their bootloader unlocked or LGUP working no problem.. I've been stuck for around 2 weeks now trying to get my LG phone bootloaded and it seems to be the most difficult phone to unlock the world for me.
So please if anyone can help me with links that they have found to work and instructions, will be happy to even supply screenshots of the issues I have.
Sorry if this is not in a good format, and also this isn't a rant, I just want to root my phone and move on from my PH-1.
Thank you

Go to any Pie KDZ thread, use the Dev Patched LGUP from there. Like this:
HOW TO (temporarily) DOWNGRADE BACK TO OREO FOR BOOTLOADER UNLOCK
(or DOWNGRADE BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE PIE)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79964731&postcount=2
That link is for EU H930 Pie KDZ which is compatible with your H930DS. If you wish to use AUS H930DS early Oreo KDZ, you would still follow the steps in that post but use your own KDZ you downloaded elsewhere.
(North American variants using WTF Instructions would flash US998 KDZ, NOT any H930 firmware EVER. I have to keep saying that because people don't seem to understand "H930" AOSP/LOS custom ROMs have NOTHING to do with H930 stock firmware. They should be called "V30" ROMs or "Joan" ROMs, not "H930 ROMs". North American variants need to stay on North American firmware base to flash any AOSP/LOS custom ROMS. I know you have Australian H930DS, but I still have to say that for OTHER people who will read this.)
You have to uninstall any prior version of LGUP. You have to read the installation instructions carefully and follow them.
That's where you're probably going wrong? There's specific instructions on how to install, there are specific instructions on where to launch the file from.
At the risk of repeating myself on the newer Dev Patched LGUP you have to use the SetDev.bat and you have to launch from the desktop icon it creates, not from the installation folder.
I do not put Dev Patched LGUP in this WTF Instructions post itself because some people don't need it. I put it in the KDZ threads where you will always need it.
As for the WTF instructions, make sure you read them in a web browser not an app. Apps truncate entire sections. So yes, maybe you are missing something important...

I have never made any YouTube videos. However, over the past two years I have constantly tweaked the wording of the WTF Instructions and especially after stock Pie was released I had to re-arrange the order somewhat and add steps. So, I am very skeptical there are any YouTube instructions that are complete and current. Any YouTube videos will probably lead you astray. Really, the WTF Instructions are all you need. Just read them in a web browser, not an app. XDA app in particular truncates entire sections of long posts.
Do NOT skip any sections because you think they are "not necessary". I find people who are confused often skip the Introduction and Prep sections where important information is given. They often accuse "This was never stated". Then I post screenshot showing that was EXACTLY stated.
The TLDR parts can be helpful but remember they are only bare bones skeleton of steps. Do not rely entirely on just reading those parts.

First of all thank you, I was able to flash the OPEN kdz no problem. However I've tried to flash the unlock.bin file and that has not been able to work. I've tried doing "fastboot oem device-id" with " FAILED (Write to device failed (Too many links)) fastboot: error: Command failed ". "Too many links" is error message that the PC ADB/fastboot isn't communicating well with your phone.
Try a USB 2.O port. Some people buy cheap USB 2.0 hub off eBay or borrow old Win7 PC with USB 2.0 ports.

The error messages you are getting are not new, but can be overcome.
Sometimes it takes people using even a 3rd computer, 3rd cable for it to communicate properly. That's why 11 of the 12 Troubleshooting Tips are about fixing the fastboot flash problem.
When it finally does work, it'll be so easy.

Only three V30 variants are officially eligible and one of them is very minor, the 64GB variant of the Open Market US998. Not Frankensteined, not U.S. Cellular, but native Open Market US998. I happen to own one of those and unlocked my bootloader on Nougat before the early Oreo WTF exploit was discovered.
For everyone else (including my 128GB V30+ Open Market US998), the WTF method works on ALL V30 variants except for T-mobile H932.
We had an XDA mod who owned an Australian H930DS and a couple of other Australians also. We've been doing this for 2 years now, so we know it works. As long as you are on the correct firmware, have all the drivers installed, are typing the right commands, the only issue after that is finding a computer that lets you do it. AMD Ryzen computers won't. Intel Win 10 will but they are flaky about USB 3.0 ports. I can tell you story after story about someone who used their neighbor's computer, their brother's computer, etc and suddenly it worked. Found old Win7 laptop in the closet...
