CAT S60 Ringer Volume - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
The ringer of my S60 is very loud. I need this; and because this worked well for me in the workshop, we bought a second device. Unfortunately, the ringing tone of this second device is much quieter - just as loud as a normal cell phone. We have tried all the settings of the device and also several volume booster apps: no success!
Both devices are rooted (thanks to adtbm and xda-developers.com !). So I copied the file mixer_paths.xml from the system directory / system / etc of the louder one to the other device: this also did not improve.
Does anyone have a idea what else I could do to increase the volume? Or does anyone know of a suitable volume booster app for this purpose?
Thank you !

[Q] Permanent solution to too low In-call volume on headset

Hi,
I'm on Galaxy S2; Android 2.3.3; KE7.
When using headphones on my device the volume is great for music, videos, youtube, and even skype. However for some reason it's only around half of that level when calling (even tough the volume is set to maximum).
I've done some google research and found out that it's quite a common issue with this phone. A workaround has been found by using some codes. However, it is not a permanent solution.
I've found a post which says that someone had called Samsung and they acknowledged the issue and will send them a new phone where this issue has been fixed.
1) Has anyone found a permanent solution to increasing the volume of the call when on headset?
2) I've also found a post where someone says that apparently Samsung will fix this issue in Android 2.3.4. Can you confirm this? When will this be available? If it's longer than 1-2 weeks I will have to send my phone for a refund/exchange (although I love it).
Your advice on the above is much appreciated.
Hi, I've done some further research and I think I've found the solution:
First make sure that your sound is on (as you can't access the volume settings in the silent mode) -> press the Menu button -> Settings -> Sound -> Volume -> and then increase the 'Incoming call' volume.
I've just tested the call volume when on headset and it has been increased to a more that enough level. Great. My love to this phone is growing
Now I have to figure out how to disable the camera shutter sound....but that's a question for another post...
It seems that the solution above worked for some time but now my phone started to deliver very low call volume when on headphones. Maybe it's due to the Android update, I don't know.
However I found that the issue is related to the media volume. For example when I listen to music and turn the volume low then this affects the incoming call volume and it becomes low as well.
The solution to this problem seems to be: make sure that the music volume is max before you want to make a call. I've just tested it an is seems to do the trick.
It would be great to hear to another solutions to this problem for unrooted phones.
Heard this app works well,

[Q] Low in-call volume with wired headset

This problem has been talked about some time, but I'm not able to find a real solution:
I'm using CM9 with Siyah-kernel. When I use a wired headset, the in-call volume is extremly low. Even at max I cannot understand the other party when I'm outside.
Now, some solutions have been proposed:
* Use STweaks to boost headset volume. That works but also increases the music volume. If I boost it enough so that in-call volume is good, music volume gets hard to control.
* Use the service menu. On my phone I cannot access the audio menu. As I understand, I could flash a different modem (e.g. XXKI3). Can anyone tell me where to download it? All links I found were dead. And anyhow, as I understand these settings are reset on boot. So it's not really a permanent solution.
Is there anything else someone could think of?
I'd really appreciate any ideas.
Best regards
Ole

framework.odex - how to modify files inside and pack them back to odex?

Hello I'm having a problem, I need to edit AudioService.class to gain more volume in my Xperia J (it's limited by design...stupid EU law). The framework.jar is not as usual, it's an .odex file in the phone which means I had to unpack the contents of it first.
But after using this tool http://code.google.com/p/smali/wiki/DeodexInstructions All the files lost it's structure and I can't even modify the audio values right now.
Also is it possible to odex deodexed files again to make them work on stock rom (based on ICS)?
I've tried to send this message to sony but their forum is dead so here it is explained furthermore:
Hello, I'm furious with my new phone. The headphones volume is not sufficient at all (I'm talking various models of HEADphones, not earphones, although the standard ones that come with the phone are not loud enough to me as well).
The sound also appears compressed on this model which for example means that if something is played at low volume for longer period of time the phone automatically levels the sound to be louder and if something strucks like an explosion for example the sound reduces to the limited value that to me sounds lik 85dB and the phone can handle a lot more beacause when someone calls me while I'm listening to music, music just BOOOMS up the volume for a second and then the ringtone comes in. I had the same issue with my HTC phone but Volume+ app from market could fix that, however on Xperia J with ICS on board none of the volume hacking applications work.

In Call Volume Boost w/ Root

Now that we have root for our Z3v's... I've been playing around with trying to find/edit the files that control our phones speaker volumes (both in call earpiece volume and speaker phone volume). I don't necessarily need to increase the speaker volume for playing music because most of the time I'm using bluetooth, but I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in that as well.
I'd like to be able to just modify the phones system files rather than use some sort of booster app.
From what I'm been able to find, the file located in /system/etc/ called mixer_paths.xml is what our device uses to control volume parameters. I've seen where other devices have had these types of files modified in order to boost max volumes.
Is this something we can do with our phones? The in call volume, both earpiece and speaker phone are just TOOOO quite for me.
This is about as far as I can comfortably go as I'm not a developer/programmer.
Anyone out there comfortable helping out with this idea? Is it possible.

I also would like to know how to increase the volumes
I think it's almost comical how low the audio levels out of the headphone jack are. I don't know if this can be fixed or what but even playing at full volume it seems too low.

I've been using the Sound Mod from Z3 Development version 3.3 with Dolby Digital Plus (I think it has beast audio) & the volume on the headphones is so loud at the second click up. They even have a way to go back to stock.

I'm using the beast audio mod as well. Good stuff.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread.... You say you're using the sound mod. Did you flash that in recovery?
Checking this out first, just got root today and don't want a shiny new paperweight anytime soon

I did flash the sound mod through recovery but it only boosted speaker volumes, not in call volumes. I used the one without Dolby.

Wow so we can flash .zip files in recovery now? Again just making sure, just rooted and there isn't a ton of info out there for our device atm. Thanks in advance
I flashed it in the dual recovery as well. Just make a backup first because the zip they have to take it back to stock isn't for our phone. In other words if you ever want to go back you should wipe & reload the backup. And make sure you don't install the lollipop version.

Does this mod increase speaker volume in general? Like listening to music?

How to boost headset volume in Android 7.0 Nougat? (phone is rooted)

Hello everyone, i hope this is the right place for my question and that someone will be able to help me.
I recently purchased Ulefone Power 2. That's a Chinese phone based on MTK6750T Octa-core cpu and Android Nougat 7.0.
Since i'm hearing impaired i have to boost headset volume a lot, which was very easy to do on my old LG G3 (there was an dedicated app for that, which ofc required root).
However, increasing volume on Ulefone turned out to be very hard task.
I found out about engineering menu which is accessed by ##3646633## code, and i increased headset volume to max. value of 160.
Volume is now slightly louder, but unfortunately still not enough for my needs.
Ulefone is rooted and i have access to root files in \etc folder (which contains volume files i need to edit - at least i assume so), but the problem is i don't know which .xml file i'm supposed to edit to raise that max. 160 volume - common sense didn't help me much.
Is here anyone who can tell me how to solve this? I hope i explained my problem well, feel free to ask me for any further explanation, and thanks in advance to everyone who reads this.
