Is it possible for an app to access onscreen layout bounds of other apps , similar to layout bounds display under developer options.
Would use the screen space cordinates..
Thread moved to proper forum. Please make sure to post questions in proper Q&A forums when there is a dedicated forum already.
The closest thing you can get as a regular app is to (ab)use accessibility service capabilities.
What alternatives could there be to gather this info?

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to draw shapes/lines over a webview control as though it was a canvas?
Thanks.
If you mean to place a view over the webview using relative or absolute positioning and a higher z-index, then yes, you can. Browser does it with the controls.

Hi, so how would I do it? Basically if I wanted to create as it appears on the screenshot enclosed.
Thanks.
I need someone with knowledge in android launcher development. I think modifications i need will not be hard for someone who is already in launcher customizations and development. I need options like HOME key actions change like open specific app with home button, lock desktop, app password protect, menu button menu customization etc...
If anybody interested for this project contact me please private.

Moving to Q&A
I am using Eclipse Helios Service Release 2 and the project target is 2.2.
I have a xml layout that has a HorizontalScrollView and ScrollView with a LinearLayout. For some reason unknown to me the graphical layout will not expand when I add objects that exceed the size of the default screen size.
I have other xml layout files that will expand when using a single scrollview type, however when using two of them nested together it does not work.
I have attempted to use ScrollView then HorizontalScrollView and reversed to see if it is a order of priority issue with Eclipse. However this does not work.
There appears to be nothing missing from the properties of the scrollviews between those that will expand and the one that wont.
Is there something I am missing? Or is it not possible to have two different scrollview types in one layout and still have a auto expanding graphical layout editor? I would rather not define a specific screen resolution that would allow me to see all objects; I want the app to be adaptable to any device screen size.
Thank you for your help
Sincerely,
Brandon S

If the app doesn't have landscape layout... no way, mate (the developer decides).
I found this http://alternativeto.net/software/zplayer/about how did he get it in landscape? Different app? If so what app?
Is there any other player with artist artwork that works with tablets and looks good?
Is the same app, so I think it has a setting to allow to use the orientation sensor (like other apps I seen).
If you can't find that setting... post a comment in that forum

Theres no setting for that. I remember that landscape worked on my phone several months ago but now it don't work.
Seems like they had the setting before and then removed it for some stupid reason.
Some people say "contact the developer" when someone have a request to add something to an app. Anyone that knows how to contact the developer so I or others can make a request? Some has requested it on Play Store but to ask the dev directley would be best. He/she/they have a blog but you can't whrite comments there.
Does ZPlayer support landscape now? Love the look of this app but landscape is a must for me.
I was looking to port e-ink display refresh modes from a stock chinese rom, Vision OS, to stock aosp android, any, to implement in any possible custom rom.
On stock Vision ROM, the Phone has possibility to switch from 4 different "speed" modes, which tweak the e-ink refresh rate speed. In order from slowest to fastest:
- Clear
- Balanced
- Smooth
- Speed
Now, If you manage to install AOSP on the Hisense A5, you can notice that everything works really good, but that the e-ink display module is only refreshing at his "stock" rate, which is very slow, because there is no underlying settings telling him what to do, like in the stock chinese Vision ROM.
This is what I've found inside stock chinese rom build.prop file
###PRODUCT: for vision share style
persist.hmct.share.style=true
#add for epd
sys.sysctl.force_display_mode=8
sys.sysctl.GLD_Rresh_Count=32
sys.sysctl.GC_New_Refresh=0
sys.anim.display_mode=0
sys.sysctl.dump_epd_image=0
###PRODUCT: add feature for default app settings @{
ro.hmct.default.app=true
###@}
###{@
ro.hmct.panel.epd.support=1
Then, an external app I've installed to force the display to refresh (to clean reset the e-ink display once every "n" iterations) shows this toast notification:
com.hmct.epd.EpdManager.ForceClear []
How would be possible to port all those e-ink display mode and settings, from the stock rom, into any GSI ROM??
I'd like to help! Please anyone!
