Greetings,
Noticed some pretty disappointing thing after installing EdXposed and enabling Greenify plugin in it: phone started to reboot after random periods of time.
The only "common" this -- I was either "touching" the phone (triggering the default Samsung's "wake-up the screen" functionality) or waking it with Power button.
-- it was like 5..10 reboots per day. And right after I simply removed Greenify checkbox in EdXposed Manager -- even without rebooting -- those crashes disappeared.
Best regards...
And after some excessive observation I'm almost 100% sure that remained sporadic reboots were caused by Greenify (root mode) as well.
So the question is for now: is there some way to troubleshoot this?
And even more mysteries: after sometime I gave-up and uninstalled Greeinfy completely -- random reboots were gone. After some time (unfortunately my brief search for replacement gave no results) -- I decided to give it a second chance. And to my surprise -- no reboots... -- but then, after about two/three weeks they returned...
So I'm starting suspect -- if some statistics being gathered by Greenify in the background -- and it starting to kill/freeze some system services?..
But it seems that I'm talking to myself here... -- no support/customer service?..

My phone is getting really hot (like, uncomfortable to have in my pocket).
I went to dev options, and activated the overlay cpu usage to check which process were eating up my CPU.
Top of the list 99% of the time is system_server.
Other symptoms:
– I can't open a terminal session (terminal emulator starts but no prompt, I can't kill it either)
– installing an app takes ages (both the downloading and the installing)
– the wifi symbol in the status bar has both arrows (upload and download) displayed all the time
– some network related activities seems to be very slow
com.google.android.tts and android.process.acore make also regular visit to the top 3 processes, but they are far from system_server.
I have CyanogenMod 11 M3 on a google edition of the S4, encryption is on. I have around 2GB free on my internal storage and 20GB on the external SD.
Any further troubleshooting ideas?
Its an app. Probably one with spyware to be more specific. Either way it's constantly sending or receiving data. Have you installed anything around the time this started happening?
I will deinstall progressively the latest apps I installed and see if it helps.
What I noticed too:
– re flashing CM 11 M3, cleaning cache and davlik cache helps. But just for a short while. After a couple of hours it starts again.
– the network activity is constant but pretty low. Below 10kB/s all the time, regularly below 1kB/s
– I can't uninstall anything right now, every app I uninstall says “uninstalling” forever.
– turning airplane mode on makes it a bit better: phone is still hot, but not uncomfortably so.
How does an app hide its process like this without root access? I didn't thought it was possible in Android. I can only see system_server...
i have the same problem with you
this problems starts couple days ago, and until now i still curious of what happen to my phone
i used xperia z1 now,
does anyone can help to solved this problem
Greenify suddenly started going crazy on my phone.
To give you an idea how bad it is.
The screen was red hot to touch.
Battery had dropped to 72% whilst plugged into usb in the space of 5 minutes.
Greenify process showing constant 70+% usage.
Here is what is happening now, if I reboot the phone, things seem normal, cpu usage is ok.
If I then load the greenify app, cpu usage goes crazy, if I close the app using the back button, the cpu usage does NOT recover, stays crazy.
I tried disabling auto hibernation which has no effect.
If I force close the app via long press back (wanam xposed) cpu usage recovers, but will go crazy again the moment I relaunch the gui.
I have s5 901f, touchwiz 4.4, xposed installed and using module, all experimental features enabled.
The last actions I did before this issue occured was to greenify instagram, and also force hibernate airdroid, since then this behaviour has persisted. I tried degreenifying both instagram and airdroid to no effect.
I suspect some data greenify uses is corrupt so I will try to full wipe the app and restore it either from a backup or configuring it from scratch.
Confirmed is ok after wiping and restoring backup.
Sorry to hear that. If that happens again, could you please capture a logcat for me to further analyze this issue.
Hello! I've been trying to investigate battery drain issues on my Z5C (with nougat) for the last week. It's been quite the annoying experience, to be frank.
Here is a screenshot from Wakelock detector LITE: http://imgur.com/a/2Ljyv
As you can see, for about 13-14 hours, with 30 minute of screen time, these wakelocks have built up to numbers like 20,000, or 70,000, etc. I am not sure if this is normal, but to be fair it seems like it absolutely isn't normal.
I have only used the screen to browse google wakelock searches in these 30 mins, more or less, and to check the wakelock app itself.
Furthermore, I tried using Greenify and it did slow my screen turn-on time considerably. I uninstalled it. My delay with screen wake-up remained... It was a huge mistake to try this app as it seems to have broken my OS and introduced unexplained OS lag at random times, which I did NOT have before at all.
Do you think a factory reset can solve this?
I am starting to think about rolling back to 6.0.1 and staying there forever with root and xposed. This type of erratic phone behavior really plays a number on my nerves.
thanks for reading!
go back and just restrict every non-system sony/xperia and as much of the google things as you can without restricting play service/store or framework
Hey Guys -
I recently upgraded to a Galaxy S9+ and overall love it despite not being able to root. For the past couple of weeks, I've had a three very annoying issues though. I've tried many things to resolve, but so far can't figure out solutions. Below are thr issues and what I've tried to fix each. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
1. Random ads open in default browser (Firefox) no matter what I'm doing / what app I'm in
It doesn't matter what app I'm in, every 5 min or so Firefox opens on top of whatever I'm currently using without warning and displays an ad in a webpage. I use the Ublock tool in Firefox so sometimes it opens to a blocked webpage
What I've tried to fix:
- Closed all tabs, cleared history / personal data, then force quit Firefox
- Restarted phone
- Tried many malware apps like Malwarebytes but scans come in clean
- Uninstalled apps not installed from Google Play (only a couple)
- Put all apps not needed to run in background asleep
- Disabled notifications for apps I don't need
2. Display configs randomly apply
I have my screen set to turn off after 2 minutes and also have "always on display" enabled during the daytime which is different than simply leaving display on. Currently, though; after 2 min the screen just dims - that's it. If I hit a button to turn screen off it works, but if I place it on charger after doing this, the lock screen appears and it just Dom's after 2 minutes too. Basically, always on display only works after I press a button to power display off
What I've tried to fix:
- Verifying settings we're correct
- Setting configs differently then reverting them
- Disabled all MacroDroid / AutoMagic scripts
- Installed Greenify to put apps to sleep thinking one may be keeping device awake
3. Secure Startup Reverts
My work uses InTune and requires strict policies and settings in order for sync to work - one of these is Secure Startup where you must enter your passcode after reboot. Every couple of days or after a reboot, this setting Reverts from being enabled to disabled this making my phone daily compliance and stopping sync of work stuff. I must manually reenable it, then jump through hoops to get it compliant again. This has been an issue since I got the phone.
Any suggestions for any of the above?
Thanks!!
You could have a malware in your phone. When I had my note 8 I experienced something similar with the ads, it was very annoying. Long story short... I had to do a factory reset
I agree with TonyGzl92. It is probably Malware.
If the problem persist and you have deleted all installed apps and still get the problem you will ned to perform a factory reset and watch the phone after every app you install.
I had the issue with the screen just dimming instead of going completely off, and it was a conflict with an app I had installed. Pretty sure it was a Play Store app, but it's been long enough I no longer remember what app it was.
Hi
Andoid 12 (latest via OTA)
non-rooted
The problem is that while there is no problem with SMS / WhatsAPP notifications, no other ones come
Other notifications come only in 2 cases
- unlocks the screen (backlight is not enough, I have to unlock it)
- the phone is charging (then they come normally)
First, I set everything according to my own logic and intuition (it has worked well for the last dozen or so years of using electronics)
The problem still existed - so I looked online and set everything up as people suggested - THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS
Later I found the website dontkillmyapps
I set up the entire system and applications according to the information provided
THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS
I even installed an application related to this website that checks the killing of applications, after a two-hour test, all results came out 100% (i.e. nothing killed according to the legend of the tests)
I turned off optimization, turned on dynamic mode, turned on flexi, turned off battery adaptive mode - in short, everything possible at the expense of battery life - ZERO result
Phone unlocked - notifications come, phone locks - they come for about 1-2 minutes and end
Previously, I used A11 (I did not upgrade to A12) on LG g8s and there were no such problems
Its an android issue, not a Zenfone issue. I would just not get notifications on messanger (FB) randomly. It was the same with a S21 Ultra I had before. I always do the steps you mentioned, but it didn't solve the issue. Uninstalling and reinstalling solved it for 1-2 days, then notifications will stop arriving randomly.
I have to admit its better with A13, the notifications are just delayed, I don't think i missed one since I did a clean install about a week ago.
