Hi all,
Just a quick question to the community, though it might be a daft one...
Is it possible to wipe android 10 (completely format) from a brand new 7t Pro and force install android 9 from a 7 pro.?
Just wondering...so as we could use the previous bootloader process
Just wondering

I am not an expert but I don`t think this is possible. They use different snapdragon model and probably bootloader is very different. As far as I understand there are two levels of bootloader, check installation instractions of Omni rom just to understand what I am talking about. Until twrp is released we can just flash roms that way but I am afraid developers don`t want to develop roms in this state.
Thanks for the quick response guys, much respect.....
I can see the logic in what you saying. Different processor, hence different coding.
I've got another related question,
in the 7 pro forums quite a lot of roms are installed via magisk. Couldn't that be implemented on the 7t Pro or is it an issue with dynamic partitions again?

The processor doesn't really matter much as far as I know. 855+ is just an overclocked version of 855, hardware is identical.
As far as I'm aware, treble roms should work on any device with treble so I don't think the kernel mattete as you use your already existing one.
I'm new to this also, so I'm might be completely wrong.

Hi all!
I live in Germany and would like to buy a RN3 pro from Aliexpress. I don't want to stick around with MIUI but would like to try out different CM-based ROMs. The community here seems very alive, but I am confused by certain things. So I hope you can help me :highfive:
1) Some months ago, I followed the news about the Mi4c. People were complaining that Xiaomi won't let them unlock their phones. Are there no such problems with the RN3 pro?
2) Concerning the official firmware: I read that the phones come either with a Chinese or international firmware (or sometimes even bloated by retailers), and each has a hundred of version numbers. Are all versions possible to unlock? Or do I need a particular version to be able to root/unlock bootloader/flash a custom ROM?
3) Are there any differences between the 2/16 gig and the 3/32 gig version of the RN3pro apart from RAM/storage?
4) Is Xposed working fine on CM-based ROMs?
Best regards
1. I spent around a month to get it officially unlocked, till then I unlocked unofficially in few mins. But if you unofficially unlock whenever you flash a rom you must be more conscious and read every step that's given by Developer or else you will end up bricking your device(don't worry there are solutions for very bricking scenario) . So if this is not a concern you can buy
2. Whatever the firmware phone may come with you can flash MIUI global firmware and unlock it from there.
3. Nope not that I know of.
4. Yes it's working.
Welcome to the community.

1)as an unlock reason I pasted some chineese text found in the Internet and after 1 week I got my unlock code. So no problem there
2)Developer rom is recommended for that, but I think that the never versions of stable build also support unlocking. Anyway, it's easy to install developer rom with locked bootloader
3)nope
4)yep

1) If the phone is updated to the latest firmware (7.3.2 at the time of writting) then the bootloader unlocking process time will depend on how long it takes them to approve the permission for you (got my phone on Tuesday and unlocked it today).
2)Yes all are eligible, but you have to be on the latest one. Likely you will get with an outdated Chinese rom and will have to update via MIUI updater (or similar name of the official software). I also suggest looking for the phone from else where, like here in the EU (think ebay.ie had some cheap ones), since i had to pay an extra 50eur for taxes and expenses (am from Lithuania).
3) No idea, likely none. I got the 3gb version because it's more future proof and can upload 2 videos at the same time vie desktop version of facebook. Also the software itself uses about a gig of ram. Plus it's doesn't cost that much more and a gig of ram makes a difference.
4) No idea, wasn't a fan of xpossed before and am not planing to become one.

Yes it works. Make sure to use MIUI Xposed version. Google it.
Hi guys. I'm going probably to buy an Honor 9 soon. Since I'm completely new to EMUI (coming from Samsung and HTC), in which way can I install/do the following things?
0) Bootloader unlock;
1) TWRP;
2) Magisk;
3) Xposed Framework.
I read about some kind of encryption of internal data partition, so I don't know how properly move with this new device. Thanks!!

Are you really too damn lazy to read the existing threads on this device? It's not like there's a lot of development threads for you to go to the bother of reading through.
If you particularly want a phone for modding then this is definitely NOT the right one, do yourself a favour and buy something like a OnePlus which has serious dev support.

That's why I asked for, I didn't find much for starting with modding with this particular OS. Anyway, I'm sorry.

Why better?
Only 64GB memory (my Honor 9 has 128GB) and the price is a lot higher.
Hello Mate 10 community! I just moved from the Galaxy Note 3 to this new superb phone. I was wondering why isn't there much of ROM development and support from the XDA community of mate10. Will there be soon a support for LineageOS or RR for our device? Thanks! I miss flashing new ROMS to my phone.

There are custom roms for the mate 10 lite...
With custom kernel etc...
For the mate 10/10 pro only treble based roms for the honor v10..so the camera does not work well.
There is also phh treble project but what version to choose from (a or b) ?
Hope some developers create some roms for mate 10/19 pro soon.

I've recently read some threads over our device. It's kinda different out here, back in my Note 3 days I can easily use odin to reflash back to a stock ROM when I brick my device bur for Huawei seems like there's no easy and free way to do it. Makes me think twice of rooting my device.?

That's a bummer. Same here, from Samsung Young, LG Optimus Black, Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy note 3 and I fell in love with this phone I received this as my graduation gift. It just makes me sad that there's greater risk in rooting and modifying this device than other smartphone brands and not much of a development on Custom ROM by devs.
can someone help me to flash twrp recovery to this phone(honor7s).
up someone help me

I just saw this post as I too have a Honor 7S
There is NO TWRP for our device.
The TWRP for the Honor 7A/7C/7X and Honor 7 doesn't work on our device.
Don't take any notice of people that tell you the TWRP for the Huawei 5Y or 7Y works on the Honor 7s - it doesn't and someone has already bricked their device trying.
you got to pay 4 euros to unlock the bootloader before you can even flash TWRP - and there isn't one!
The 7S is treble compatible but is a complete and utter waste of time and now I've found out there is absolutely zero development on this device, mine has gone back into its box, never to be seen again.
Greetings friends, I have an Honor 7S, to be honest the tlf disappoints, nor my Honor 4 was so slow ? !! This phone does not have a way to rotate it? In fact even the governor who manages the operating system is strange ... With a clean system (Android Pure) should be a better mobile, I know it is low-end but it is too slow

There is zero development on this device.
You have to pay to unlock the bootloader.
After that there is NO custom recovery for the 7S.
One user mistakenly flashed the Honor 7 twrp and bricked his 7S whilst another flashed the 7C twrp on his 7s and had the same results.
The device is project treble compatible so it should be easy to flash a pure Android GSI but seeing as there's zero development and zero interest in this device I've stopped using my own 7S and moved to something more popular.
I just got a Mate 10 and I wanted to know the state of the phone before touching anything: just a quick summary.
Do you have to unlock the bootloader to install stuff like TWRP? I wanted to at least root it to install Titanium Backup and remove a bit of bloatware. If so, can anyone share the latest tutorial? I've seen lots of them but I don't really know which one is up to date
Is it advised to install a custom ROM or is EMUI good enough? I was previously using a Redmi Note 3 with MIUI.
Is it known if this phone will get Android Q by any chance? Just curious
Thanks!!

Well, for me EMUI is very ok. I have a Mate 9 and Mate 10 Pro.
I used to flash custom ROMs on weekly basis (LG G2, G3, V10 & G5). Maybe it's laziness or the volatile nature of Kirin SoC and its difficulty in flashing but I've decided against doing it.
Bottom line is that I'm more than happy with EMUI especially 9

First question
-yes you have to unlock the bootloader in order to root phone( not recommended if you not sure what you doing because of very easy hard brick possibilities)
Second
-custom rom or Emui that is up 2 you, you like or don't like Emui and
Third
- Android Q is far far far away so IMO that is highly unlikely
Thanks!
I'll stick to EMUI, it's great so far and I don't want to mess anything up.
