Hi,
My phone : Redme Note 4 Global Edition 3/32 unlocked and rom developper.
My problem : I wanted to put TWRP and I did a MEGA bull****.
To install TWRP I did:
Fastboot flash boot recovery.img
instead of :
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
My phone starts systematically on TWRP... (It boots no more normally)
I have shot tempted one:
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
With the boot.img retrieved from the MIUI 9 archive 7.8.10 (mido_global_images_7.8.10_20170810.0000.00_7.0_global_239182c21e.tgz)
Now the phone shows me the logo miui indefinitely.
I still have access to Fastboot
Is it necessary to try with the boot.img of version MIUI 9 7.8.18 (installed version)? Can someone provide it to me?
If not, can anyone help me restore the boot without losing any facilities made?
Thank you in advance.
Regards
Hi,
Well I finally made a MiFlash with the option "flash_all_except_storage.bat" on the same flashboot ROM that was previously installed in my phone before my error. (MIUI 9 7.8.18).
The phone is OK.
I did not clean it : I hope it will not bug.
Regards.
When you've flashed TWRP when MIUI is installed you need to install lazyflasher with recovery. Without it MIUI will not boot with TWRP

Hi
No phone for two days now while I try to fix my own mistakes! Need some guidance please. I want to install either the custom ROM from lineageOS or the PixelExperience one. I've tried many times and always the same error.
Here is what I did
0 downloaded and unlocked the boot loader with the official app
1 downloaded all drivers and adb
2 ran fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
3 ran fastboot boot twrp.img
4 boot into twrp and install the LineageOS zip - version 15.1 I have tried v16 as well
5 selected wipe data
6 pressed back, clicked wipe and allowed it to complete the factory reset wipe
No matter what I do I can not get past the twrp screen. It constantly comes back. I can't do anything other than twrp or fastboot.
Please any guidance will help me?

If you are coming from a Miui stock rom you need to Format data, is not enough with wipes. In the case that the rom be a 9.0 pie you need to after Format data install the latest firmware to can boot.
Can anyone tell me how to flash custom recovery and root Redmi note 4 with MIUI 10. I tried a few but none of them worked for me. It never reboots to twrp recovery:crying:

First you need to unlock your bootloader which almost take 3 to 4 days generally but in my case it take about 10 days to get permission from MI after which I am able to unlock my bootloader after that you have to download ADB and fastboot at your PC then you have to use it to change your stock recovery to custom recovery and once you successfully changed your stock recovery to custom recovery the only thing you need to do is to flash a magisk root file which would be in zip format through your custom recovery then after flashing the root file put your phone into recovery mode and then flash lazyflasher zip file as in my case I come to know that MI UI doesn't support custom recovery because of which you need to flash lazy flasher.
Note after flashing the custom recovery do not boot your phone into system mode rather than boot it to the recovery again or you can simply wipe Dalvik and cache and then flash the lazyflasher otherwise it will stuck while booting which happens in my case also I suggest you to wipe Dalvik and cache partitions after flashing any zip through your custom recovery
Note- I am not an expert this is what I had experienced while experimenting with my redmi Note 4 so don't blame me if anything goes wrong you can browse YouTube for many such tutorials. Hope it will help you
You must try few times. I tryied 3 times, success First and second time booting mi-recovery, not twrp so i tryied flash once again. Also miui 10.
Since you didnt provide much information. If you have unlocked Bootloader (ignore this)
If you have to unlock the Bootloader, check this topic:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/how-to/bootloader-unlock-variants-to-read-t3565459
It will take a maximum of 3 days if you read and do needful properly, in case it does not works, Redmi sends a message to wait for specific hours wait additional 1 hour in case required and try again.
After all Bootloader thing, follow this simple steps,

Hi guys, I'm not sure if my post is a repeat or not but boy i wasted a whole Sunday trying to flash orangefox recovery.
I used an early version of it because i didn't know there was a newer one, wasted all day unable to boot to the recovery and having to flash full rom with miflash LOL. So to save your time here's what i did. I ASSUME YOUR BOOTLOADER IS UNLOCKED
1. This is the latest orangefox recovery Version: R10.0_7: https://c.mi.com/thread-2482912-1-0.html
EDIT, NEW VERSION: https://files.orangefox.tech/OrangeFox-Stable/raphael/OrangeFox-R10.0_8-Stable-raphael.zip
2. Download the latest full Recovery ROM of Mi 9T pro global V10.3.2.0.PFKMIXM from here: http://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.3.2.0.PFKMIXM/miui_RAPHAELGlobal_V10.3.2.0.PFKMIXM_55396ac730_9.0.zip
3. UNZIP the orangefox recovery file, you'll see an image file called RECOVERY.
4. Now fastboot flash that recovery RECOVERY NAME OR LOCATION. After flash succeeds, press and hold volume up + power button until you feel the vibration and then if done properly your phone will boot to orangefox recovery.
4. From there now, copy paste the full orange fox recovery zip file to your phone's internal storage, locate it and then swipe to install the recovery again so as to make the recovery permanent.
5. IMPORTANT, after you swipe it will reboot itself to recovery again in 5 secs, YOU HAVE TO WIPE DATA otherwise your phone won't boot up, so go to MENU-MANAGE PARTITION-DATA-OK-TYPE YES. Your data is erased so now you'll have to setup phone again.
6. After completing setup, reboot again back to orangefox recovery by pressing volume up and power button. From there go to MENU, click on settings icon on top right, locate and select MIUI OTA, in there select all check boxes, I selected all checkboxes but not sure if it's a must but since nothing wrong happened to me you can follow me [emoji1787]. In there you will see a message where it tells you to FLASH A FULL MIUI ROM!, So transfer the Recovery ROM you downloaded to your phone and do the “Swipe to install” action. Wait for the OrangeFox to finish its job flashing the ROM. It may take a while because Orangefox also takes “OTA_BAK” backup process. The backup file is located at /sdcard/Fox/OTA/ directory. Do not delete that directory and its files, otherwise the OTA update will fail.
7. After flashing is done, reboot and if successful, good news your phone is ready for OTAs.
NOTE: What I'm not sure is if it will survive Android 10, because Mi 9T Pro Global is still at Android 9.

I'm not sure what is the advantage to flash orangefox this way and not through twrp. Actually, what is advantage to orange over twrp?

I always just flash the orange fox zip through twrp, one advantage I had with orange fox on my Poco f1 was some ROMs wouldn't flash through TWRP but they would flash successfully through orange fox so on my mi 9t pro as soon as I unlock bootloader in a few days I'm going to use orange fox on it.
i followed the procedure, after flash the twrp i directly boot into twrp and its a success, then i reboot to system.. after that i tried once again to reboot back to twrp but it ended up to mi - recovery 3.0 i'm currently on Global Mi 9T ROM

After you flash TWRP, reboot to TWRP by holding power and volume up until you feel vibration. Then wipe data, Now save the Disable_Dm-Verity file (LINK: https://bit.ly/2Xo1XJ3) on your phone and flash the same. This will make your TWRP permanent.
But wait, by TWRP do you mean Orangefox?

I'm coming from 9T Pro global ROM 10.3.2. Not sure why your chinese ROM is bringing error. Try flashing DM_VERITY file https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/flashing-orangefox-recovery-mi-9t-pro-t3980579

You can do it. Just bare in mind if you flash the fastboot ROM with miflash tool any time UNCHECK the CLEAN ALL AND LOCK box else you'll brick.

Softbricked for what reason?
Sent from my Redmi K20 Pro using Tapatalk
I mean when I was on miui global 10.3 I flashed oh orange fox recovery and soft bricked the device because I have mi9t pro and maurinfo twrp works the best on this device. If I had k20 pro then I could use the other recovery's without issue but on mi9 they don't work well.

I have flashed in my 9T Pro and then flashed indian ROM that's why my phone reads K20 Pro, older versions of Orangefox had a problem which soft bricked but version 7 works well

I think I'll stock with maurinfo version for now although I liked pitch black because it could detect the file system and apply the decryption automatically.

my redmi note 4 mido is bricked and i don't know how, i left my phone for a month because i travelled away and when i came back the phone was stuck on mi logo i tried to fix it by this methods but nothing worked:
-i tried to flash stock firmware via mi flash tool and it failed so many times (i used an old version which stated that the installation succeed but the phone was still stuck in bootloop)
- i tried edl version and it didn't work
- i tried to install via adb and it didn't work also
- i tried to open recovery (volume + and power) it got me to twrp 3.2.3.0 but it's alway stuck on twrp logo and nothing happens
it only happened 2 times when twrp worked and asked me for decryption password, i wrote my phone pin but said wrong password (tried also password and default_password) then i bypassed the password section and got into twrp but i couldn't mount or format storage (it appears that internal storage and sd card is 0 gb) i tried to format it fails,
tried also to change storage to ext2 it got stuck and i couldn't open the twrp again.
any stock firmware flashed on my mido doesn't work and it still stuck on mi logo ( no android loading logo), and it still has twrp
(i tried to flash another twrp or orangefox it just doesn't flash even if it's successful flash on adb)
i tried also to boot the recovery image it also get stuck on the logo and doesn't open the recovery
please help me to know what the hell is wrong with this phone and how i can fix it
help pleassseeeeeeee
Install magisk if you are stuck in boot loop it fixes the problem otherwise download a recovery rom and change your twrp version to 3.1.0.0 because the decryption password in the new versions of twrp doesn't seem to work on rn4. Now wipe system, vendor, data. import recovery rom from your computer and install it. It will install the rom then flash Magisk otherwise your phone will be stuck in bootloop. Wait for a while and bam your system is back!
i can't install anything or even boot into twrp 3.1.0.0 even if i tried
Can you boot into fastboot atleast? If yes then type fastboot reboot recovery and as you said you have twrp installed then it surely means that your bootloader is unlocked. Do you know the name of your custom rom or are you using stock rom? If yes whichever rom you are using just download the recovery rom of that and extract the boot.img in your adb and fastboot folder and flash it via fastboot by typing fastboot flash boot boot.img . And also when booting in twrp which buttons are you using? This happened to me when I myself bricked my device. I thought I can't boot in twrp but the point was I was using volume up+ power but the actual key to boot to twrp is volume up+volume down+power key
You can flash your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 [MIDO] using Mi Flash. I have an article that discusses how to flash Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 [MIDO / Snapdragon] that might help you: How to Flash Redmi Note 4 / 4x Snapdragon [Mido] with MiFlash

Yes, Flashing Stock ROM should be the last step before he tries to fix. But mostly if the smartphone is bootlooped or bricked there is no other step besides Erase All Data / Format Data or Flashing Stock ROM.

You can flash orignal boot.img which most times fixes the problem and if it didnt work flash system.img it almost always works and the last option is flashing magisk. Then only i will recommend to flash stock rom.

the rom i was using before the phone got bricked is crdroid 10, i downloaded it again as you said and tried to flash boot img then i rebooted into recovery but i got stuck at twrp logo as usual and even if twrp worked it will as for a password i tried all pins i have used on my phone and tried default_password didn't work either, i can't even mount data or storage or anything and it shows everything with 0mb storage (external or internal storage).
i can't even format data to remove encryption it just freezes whenever i do that

i tried that before it's always shows me ( mi flash tool could not find a part of the path) error, there's a one time i tried an older version of mi flash tool and the flash succeeded but when phone rebooted it stayed at the bootloop
i checked the recovery and sadly it was still the same twrp recovery
i don't really know if my phone can be fixed or this an emmc problem
So it means you have your stock rom right? Extract boot.img and flash it with
fastboot flash boot boot.img
make sure to put it in adb folder
You can find boot.img in images folder
If it does not work get the system.img and flash it with
fastboot flash system system.img
i flash the whole stock rom via fastboot (adb) and it also didn't work.
sorry if this seems disappointing
Try orangefox recovery then, not sure why is this happening to you
If still not working type
fastboot oem edl
Then flash via mi flash it should work as far as I know. If not then go to mi service centre it's the last thing you can do
