[Q] Restore backup (TWRP) after bootloop

Hi!
First of all, to give you some infos: I am runing the latest nightly CM11 on my LG G Pad 8.3 V500 and have the latest TWRP installed.
I was experimenting with a stupid app called LCDDensity for root (I am a noob and should not have done that) and it caused my G Pad to be stuck in a bootloop. I was able to boot into TWRP and the first thing I did was to make a complete backup. I then tried to wipe cache and dalvik cache but the device was still stuck in the bootloop. This was the point were I did not know what elso to do and so I wiped everything and installed the latest nightly (I was running a previous version when the bootloop happend). Everything is working again and I am on the latest version now, but all my data is gone of course.
My Questions are:
If I restore the backup I made when the device was stuck in the bootloop, will this then cause a bootloop again, or can I savely restore the backup? I don't know if that makes any sense, but I am afraid to restore corrupt data somehow.
Second Qustion is a noob question out of couriosity: What else could I have done to get the device to boot up again?
Thanks for your help!
What I would do if I were you
Wipe all
Restore nandroid of bootlooping ROM
Wipe cache + dalvik
Flash the same ROM on top of this nandroid
Reboot
Should easily fix your density issue
May even be able to just flash kernel (as opposed to whole ROM)
If this were me, chances are this app just changes build.prop to change dpi
So I would boot to recovery
adb pull the build.prop and edit it back to normal then push it back and change permissions and then reboot
Future reference
Noob mistakes happen to all at some point, experimenting is good, just always make a nandroid first!

Hello,
I kinda have the same issue. I downloaded SuperSU while on CM13. And when I installed it it went into TWRP and after the installation there was the bootloop. I made a backup (while in bootloop) and I don't want to make a factory reset.
It's been a long time since I've done a backup (except the one in bootloop) so I can't restore.
Can I fix this with the adb (which I don't know how to use it) or can I make a factory reset then restore the backup or will it go into bootloop again ?

TWRP restore bootloop [backup OS's will Restore but not boot]

Synopsis of Issue:
Currently I have several backups that do not show an error resoring but for some reason will not boot. Everytime I boot the device from a backup it goes into the WIleyfox boot screen and stays like that.
Background Information:
I own a Wileyfox Swift 2x, unrooted and bootloader unlocked. TWRP 3.1.1 is installed. I upgraded the system to Nougat 7.1 [SW46-WF-MARMITE-7.1-TOS089A-RECOVERY[NOUGAT] and everything seemed to function properly albeit with those annoying corruption startup screens. However for some reason I just coudnt get it to ROOT. I took a full backup. So I decided to install Lineage 14.1 [lineage-14.1-20171002-nightly-crackling-signed] with open-gapps. After a wipe I installed Lineage but it woudnt boot despite fixing error7 issue. ...I moved on>>>
I next tried to install Cynogenmod 13.1 [SW33-WF-MARMITE-CM-13.1.5-ZNH2KAS7EB-RECOVERY] with open-gapps and succeeded but later realised there was an issue with ROOTing and phonecall recorder - anyway I needed a working phone so attempted to restore Nougat 7.1 (above) after backing up Cynogenmod 13.1.
This is when i realised that none of my backups would boot after restoring. The phone will not boot and all I am left with is the Wileyfox boot screen. I tried restoring with and without system image, & only restoring with boot, system & data - I have performed all of these after performing the standard wipes but it remains the same.
Help:
Can anyone help me get my phone into working order so that I can restore my backups and boot into them?

I have very similar issues. Wileyfox white screen after flashing TWRP. Was there ever any resolution to this?
I have only managed to breathe life in to my phone again by reflashing ALL partitions from the recovery image that's on these forums

Problems with TWRP backup

I have made a backup with twrp but when i restore it, my phone doesn't work correctly, at first everything is normal, but a few second later the phone start to freeze then reboot multiple times and freeze again. Anyone know how to fix that or how to make a correct twrp backup?
Thank you

Cant recover my TWRP backups

I am having an issue with TWRP TWRP 3.3.1-18 at the moment and wonder what I am doing wrong. I backed up my Oneplus 6 in February then the phone offered my a system updat at the weekend which I accepted. I later went to use Titanium backup then realised I had lost roots rights due to the update so I reflashed (TWRP if I remember) and Magisk, however the phone got stuck in the bootloop where 2 white dots were spinning around a red circle. After searching and trying one thing after another I resolved it by using the msm download tool. So thats the first issue and i dont know what caused it. Onto the TWRP issue. After the phone was recovered and all the updates to Android 10 was accepted and bootloader unlocked, TWRP and Magisk 20.5 flashed, I restored my February backup which is possibly Android 9. When I rebooted I was then in a fastboot loop. I again restored using the MSM tool and tried again, the same happened. The next time I first backed up the new Android 10 system after the update then tried to restore the February backup one last time (cleared the dalvik and factory reset) but had the same issue so after restoring one more time I instead tried to restore the new nandroid backup and have the same issues. Can anyone suggest why this is happening with my TWRP backups?

Bootloop aftert restoring a TWRP backup

As the title says I always get a bootloop into recovery when the restore process finishes.
I tried everything, flashing the same rom as in the backup before restoring, however it never boots normally.
As I am on a stock MIUI 13 I flashed the stock image and then restored the backup, still a bootloop into recovery.
No matter what I do I am unable to restore my TWRP backup, so every time I want to try a new ROM I end up reinstalling everything from scratch.
Is it because my data is encrypted, or dynamic partitions? This never happened with any of my previous phones, is it possible to restore a backup on Mi10?

Backups and restore on the TWRP with some phone models does not work correctly either because it does not decrypt or is too old compared to the rom or you try to restore an older rom version on a more recent rom and sometimes the reverse also does not work (because of the system).
Try a more recent Twrp (just in case) but anyway the restoration will not be done with a more recent Twrp.
If you are on MIUI micloud works relatively well but obviously you can only restore the data not the system.

try flashing miui 12 rom first, then restore twrp back up (format data also before restoring)
and chose the latest version of twrp for android 11 or 12 (depends on your Rom)
maybe it will work
