Please help me fix the DF-DFERH-01 error - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I have a Kindle fire HDX 3rd generation. I managed to install the KitKat versions of Google play store and all the other software required to run it. But non of it can access the internet. Or at least not the servers. Is there some file(s) software and/or app(s) that I'm missing? Or does the fire OS block certain Google stuff from accessing servers or even the internet somehow? Can I fix this?

Q: Can I fix this?
Likely - but not easily. Google components simply don't coexist well on FireOS v4. Your path to a better experience starts with unlocking the bootloader and installing Lineage 14.1 (custom ROM) which proves the proper foundation for full Play Store support.
Alternatively, consider another device as you'll find little support for aging HDX devices running FireOS.

[Q] PLEASE HELP!!! Updating rooted 13.3.2.6

Hello all! Please help!!! I have a rooted Kindle Fire HDX 7" that I have successfully used each and every day until yesterday. All of a sudden I kept getting the "Google Play Store has stopped" error message. I went back into ES File Explorer and hit the "Google Play services_4.4.52" file and installed hoping that this might help and now when I click on the "Google Play Games" app I get the "Update Google Play Services - This app won't run unless you update Google Play Services" Update message. Also nothing shows up inside the "Google Play Store" app as well.
WHAT DO I DO & HOW DO I DO IT?!?!?!?! I use this Kindle ALL the time and love it, but don't want to mess anything up any further without taking the proper steps from the experts!
Don't know if this is all the information you might need (my Google Play Store Build Version is 5.3.6). If I can provide anything further to troubleshoot, please let me know.
THANK YOU MUCH IN ADVANCE!!!!!!
I'm leaving town late this afternoon and hope to fix beforehand.
My 8.9 HDX is doing this too. I was wondering what changed.
My kindle fire 7" is doing the same. Was working fine yesterday and then today error after error. Now google play store shows "check your connection and try again" no joy there either. "Google Play services has stopped" repeatedly popping up.
Happening to my hdx too. Hopefully someone finds out what's going on soon.

Google Play services 7.3.x began rolling out last week and will silently update existing installations without notification/permission. Believe the prior version was 7.0.
Best guess is 7.3.x introduces an incompatibility with Fire OS 3.2.6 (likely all 3.x Mojito variants). Hopefully someone can identify a fix. Rolling back to v7.0 or earlier won't help as it will quickly auto update.
Google Play Services and Google Play Store are separate entities. The latter is currently at v5.3.x transitioning to v5.4.x. The two services can and often do update independently (and silently).

That's what I was thinking.
Those affected should downgrade Google Play Services to a previous version and prevent it from auto-updating.
Unfortunately, this prohibits the use of GApps on their latest versions or so, such as YouTube 5.0+
Try this
Go into your file browser that has root permissions I recommend es file manager.
Navigate to device press etc folder
Scroll to file named hosts open it with a text editor like the one in es file manager.
Delete the # sign or if still not working the whole text in it.
Once done reboot it may solve the issue. Worked for me on multiple devices.
This fix is for those who get the no connection error with retry button below it on play store or youtube.. This also applies to the your device may not be provisioned for data services error on sign in to Google account.
How do I know which magic 3 letter extension to get when I go to the repository for older versions? In particular I have the 7" Kindle Fire HDX. Secondly, assuming that I get the correct version, how do I install it? I assume that the standard click on a apk file won't work because its a lower version than what's currently installed?

Hey.
How to find correct version:
1. You need an installed version on your tablet (doesnt matter if its the non working new one or the one you had from beginning).
2. Go to Settings -> Apps -> all apps and browse to "google play services"
3. click it
4. below the name of the app (here "google play services") is the version of the installed app. The last 3 letters are the one you need. I have a "german" Kindle Fire HDX 7 (codename Thor) and i have version 036
Beside from that:
I managed to keep my kindle "unupdated" for 3 days now.. dont know if it stays this way. You need root and a root browser like ES File Explorer.
0. have root and install ES File Explorer of amazon store or play store or APK
1. download the 7.0.99 Version of "google play services" (last version that worked here) from any source you think is ok^^
2. uninstall "google play services" (in app menu see above)
3. disconnect from internet
4. install the downloaded 7.0.99 version
5. open ES File Explorer
6. go to /data/app and look for "com.google.android.gms-1.apk" this should be the 7.0.99 you just installed.
7. create a file (in /data/app) and name it "com.google.android.gms-2.apk"
8. Youre done.
Like this youtube, twitch, etc which stopped working with the 4.x version work and as the OS "thinks" that the ...-2.apk is the correct one, it tries to update this (which doesnt work as its an empty file).
All here is at your own risk!!!

With some exceptions v036 should work for most JellyBean and KitKat installations including those on Kindle HDX. I can confirm 036 works with the Nexus rom; don't have my tablet handy to check CM11. I suspect the same can be said for the gaps hacks on Fire OS which is either JB (Mojito) or KK (Sangria) based.

hdx 7 13.3.2.2 root google play services error

After making the root to kindle hdx 7 thor version 13.3.2.2 after installing the whole package google play store, google account manager etc.
Once updated google play services, I ce application was interrupted, as I can only solve this problem?
thanks
The latest Google services were made incompatible with the Kindle Fire HDX. This, respectively, means many of the current versions of Google apps are unusable. Hopefully someone can come up with a fix soon.

Question about transferring apps from phone to fire hd 6.

I am unable to get root currently on my Fire HD 6 running os 5.1.1, so I can't use freedom to bypass iap and license checks. I do however have a rooted collpad with freedom installed. I know there are apps out there that will let me move apps from one Android device to another via wifi. So my question is, if I were to install an app on my phone then run it through freedom and transfer the cracked/patched app to my kindle using some kind of sync app, would it work? And if it did, would the app remain patched once it was transferred or would it revert back to original? Kind of a pain of a workaround, but at least it will get me through until a root method is found for my device and os. So would something like this work, or am I just grasping at straws?

- FireOS 4.5.5.2 can be rooted w/kingroot
- Google Play Services does not play nice with FireOS v4; you will need to root and install a custom ROM to obtain those services (ie: Play Store access)

Can't sign in Google account due to missing webview apks

Hi,
I had the HDX 8.9 Saturn running with the older rooted firmware (4.x). Then I updated to Android 5.1.1 with the help of the other thread here and everything was working immediately after that.
However, I noticed that there were some residues of the old Android 4 installation. Especially a very outdated Android Webview (v.41) was causing issues with some apps I wanted to use. (updating the webview from play store did not work as the old one was a system app and was not "overridden" by the play store app).
So after the upgrade the old webview was still there and the behavior of the 3rd party apps still like before. So I opened up Titanium Backup and removed the old webview as well as an app from Amazon (someting like amazon.webviewkkhelper or similar) with the same version as the outdated Android webview (the "kk" in the name made me think it was a Android 4.4 Kitkat residue).
Now, after a factory reset, however, I cannot sign in my Google account. After entering user/password the screen jumps back to the first screen (choose between login with existing account or new account).
In logcat I can see that apparently the webview is called and not found:
Code:
W/PackageManager( 997): com.amazon.webview.chromium is not installed for user 0
W/PackageManager( 997): com.android.webview is not installed for user 0
I'm not 100% sure that these messages are actually describing whats causing the issue, but they are a strong indicator that the google login wants to access a webview component.
Now, I have sideloaded the most recent webview from APKmirror, but it is called
Code:
com.google.android.webview
and is threfore probably not found / used.
Can anyone help me restore the system webviews that came with the Android 5.1.1 update?
Which versions of it do you guys see in the stock image?
Thank you in advance
Jochen

Assuming you rerooted install the Play Version of webview and then migrate it to the system partition using TB or another tool like Apps2SD. I have seen this both work and fail on Lollipop bases ROMs. Good luck.
Edit: Understand the naming issue; recent Google Play Services builds should look for both.

Thanks @Davey126, that helped. I installed the older webview v60 which was still called com.android.webview and made it a system app.
Then it worked again!
Login failed still but that was a different issue. Had my system further borked by trying to install Google stuff via flashfire... who knows what that did, but it did not work either. However, it prevented the old play store stuff to fail. I manually cleaned it up (hopefully) but at least now I can install the old playstore + gms again again .
Login worked afterwards. Lets see how it goes
Kindle Fire tablet are always a handfull... :silly:
