Pressing and holding volume up along with the power key now only gives factory reset option and no wipe cache partition option. Can anyone else confirm?
I've just looked at mine and I still get four options, one of which is wipe system cache.

Hello, I just rooted, and then tried to flash the latest nightly onto my P500H from Koodo.
Now whenever I boot, it's just stuck in the spinning arrow. At first it resets the boot but after 1 or 2 tries the arrow will just get stuck.
I can get into clockworkmod recovery, but there is error message saying: Bad boot message "recovery".
Now, first time I did this I didn't wipe cache partition, but then I did wipe it but same thing happens.
Any ideas?
Did you wipe Data?

When you change ROM or kernel, you have to wipe, at least, cache and dalvik cache.
Since I wipe data most of the times, I don't know if Gingerbread 2.3.7 can handle data from 2.3.3, so I would recommend you to try first wiping the 2 caches I mentioned then, if unsuccessful, wipe data.
BTW, this 'bad boot' message on recovery is the same to everyone. I'm no technician on the subject, but you can simply ignore it.
No I only wiped cache partition.
should I also do wipe data/factory reset?

First you try wiping only cache and dalvik cache. Then, if you're still stuck, you try wiping data.

Hi Guys,
I've just updated to V2.6 but for some reason I keep getting the following message everytime i boot up and try to access apps menu, also my wallpaper keeps getting misaligned :- " Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped".
Any ideas?? Im thinking of upgrading to the latest Siyah Kernel V3.0
Usual is
A .Wipe Cache
B Wipe Dalvik Cache
C factory reset
D reinstall rom
jje
Ive already wiped the cache and delvik cache, only thing I havent done yet is factory reset, was going to do that last.
Backup.
Full wipe;
Format System
Factory reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik (advanced)
Then immediately reflash
Don't restore system apps and data with Titanium etc.

Hi everybody, I'm a vietnamese. I never used a android phone before.
I see in StreakMod recovery:
+ Wipe Dalvik cache.
+ Wipe Cache partition.
+ Fix permissions.
+ Wipe data/Factory reset (not sure)
I usually do it (in order) whenever i flash a recovery or install a rom. But i don't know:
1. Must I do that?
2. When should I do that, after or before finishing a "factory reset"?
3. After I do a "factory reset", must I do it again?
Sorry about my bad English.

Usually if you are installing a custom ROM it will tell you whether or not you need to do a wipe of the Dalvik cache. Always Factory reset before installing a new ROM unless otherwise noted. Wiping the Cache and/or a factory reset after installing a ROM can usually fix most FC issues and issues adding accounts on a Streak

Thanks a lot
i know you are supposed to wipe the phone and clear the cache but what is the preferred order here.
reboot to recovery, wipe data, clear dalvik?
i appreciate the info
It doesn't really matter what order you wipe in. I always wipe system, cache and dalvik.

Thanks for the info
Wipe Data/Factory reset is all i do ...never had a problem. I think the Dalvik gets rebuilt after a factory reset so no need to clear it
and if I'm just updating from XXX.rom v3 to v4 I just install right over the top and don't wipe at all
