So basically the problem is that when I try to train Google Assistant voice recognition, at the screen where it asks me to say OK Google, I can say it however many times I want but it just won't recognize the phrase. The recognition does seem to work when I simply launch the search and use the phrase. It doesn't let me train it though. What's weird enough is that there's a screen which gives me options to remove the existing voice model and retrain it, both of which aren't greyed out indicating I can press them, but when I do - nothing happens.
Now I'm using OnePlus 6, and I've just updated to OOS 10.3 (i.e. the newest android) and this seems to be when the problem has begun, however, it's been pretty long since I trained it before, so it may not be connected.
Either way, I tried all the possible solutions I found online, especially on Google's Support forums, namely:
1. Rebooting the phone - didn't work.
2. Clearing cache and app data of the Assistant and Google - didn't work.
3. Reinstalling Assistant - didn't work.
4. Logging the phone remotely via Google's settings on PC, and removing the voice models from there - didn't work.
5. Logging out of Google and logging in again on the phone - didn't work.
Please help. The Google Support forums are absolutely useless.

Hi - So I have this issue where opening google maps crashes back to desktop. The interface opens, the place where the map is stays blank, and boom, crash to desktop. Of course this means navigation, places also do not work as intended. Ironically other mapping apps including locus (which uses the google maps api) work just fine.
Now, I tried:
- Deinstalling via titanium backup and reinstalling from market
- Factory reset THEN reinstall the whole rom (cognition)
Still not working. Looks to me like another app conflicts with it. I have 205 user apps. I'm not going to be able to take one out a time and test.
I tried reading from the catlog via system tuner. Unfortunately all it says in there is that maps crashed (oh really?? ) and not much else.
I guess my questions is, where can I find logfiles, or anything else that would help me discover which application is crashing my map tool.
So, like many other users, I prefer to use the Google Now application instead of just the stock call dialer when connected to bluetooth, whether it be in the car or working out with a bluetooth headset, because it allows you to play music, navigate, etc... in addition to just calling some one. Also, like many other users, I've been doing this since voice search was introduced via Gingerbread.
But it seems that all good things must come to an end.
The Problem... Since Google Now, now uses bluetooth, that old Bluetooth Launch application causes it to get stuck on initializing when launching it from the bluetooth button from whatever bluetooth device you're using.
Without going into to much detail... there DOES exist 2 temporary fixes
1. Disable the Media Connection on your connected bluetooth device via bluetooth settings (not desirable) ,
2. The following solution involves root access, and the purchasing of 2 paid applications.
Guardian Bob... The creator of the original BluetoothLaunch app looks like he's working on an easier fix... but for now... if you're frustrated by the same problem on your droid razr maxx... go to the link I'll post at the end of this post, and use the Paid Titaniam backup application to convert Google Search to a user app
Then Use Bluetooth launch and configure it to launch the voice search activity,
Then use Tasker to program Google Search to Force Close on Profiles for each application you plan to use with Google Now while connected to bluetooth. (note, you can set the task to Force Close Google Search only when bluetooth is turned on, so you don't have to worry about it messing with your daily activities when you're not in the car or on a headset)

workaround
Still no fix coming from Google, but at least one nice guy made a temp fix while they do it.
Look for "Voice Command" app on Google Play. Developer's name is IT-DEV-CROWD or code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=42178#c37
It worked for me, after trying a lot of different configurations.

This app did fix the issue where the bluetooth weird voice search comes up instead of Google Now, but I still get Google Now stuck at "initializing" after is opens. This only happens when I have bluetooth devices connected.
Hey guys,
For me the Google Assistant is deteriorating in experience. In the early days of the phone it worked awesome, so well that I could actually use it with screen turned off with all of its functionality. But later more on MiUi 10 and pie updates it has gone to gutters.
1. Forget screen turned off or lock screen, now it doesn't even respond to 'ok Google' from home screen.
2. It doesn't respond even on the Google feed page.
3. I need to use GA from headphone as I ride bike sometimes. Everything used to work. Now when I tell it 'navigate to XYZ', it says I don't know how to help with that.
4. When I say 'send WhatsApp message to XYZ', it says I don't know how to help with that.
5. I ask 'play music' it says 'you need to unlock your device in order to do that.' but if I say 'play coldplay', it'll actually start playing songs on Google music
6. When I say 'what's this song' which is the feature we use to identify the song playing in the background, it says 'it's not capable of doing so yet.
7. Sometimes while saving reminders, it still keeps asking me what to save or when to remind even though I mentioned everything already.
Everything above used to work absolutely fine. It seems to me either Xiaomi or Google is restricting GA. And no I don't have any weird stereotypical accent. Have you guys observing what I'm observing?
When activated Google assistant interrupts constantly, as often as every couple of seconds sometimes. I have tried the advice from every thread that I can find on the subject, but nothing works.
When disabled I then get constant pop ups of the notification prompting me to turn it back on!
I have a Xiaomi MI9 running android 10, but it doesn't have the normal menu that is present on the phones used in all the articles or videos showing how to be rid of google assistant. So for example on my phone the google app does not appear in the app manager list, and nowhere can I find the 'default apps' option.
I even tried - as suggested by some - installing Amazon Alexa as the assistant app, but there's no way to toggle between them and I still get pestered all the time but the google app, disabled or otherwise.
I am ready to consider any option, getting of the MIUI, rooting the phone, setting it on fire, whatever I need to do to be rid of this issue, It's making my phone unusable.
Please help!
Suddenly my Pixel 6 running Android 13 can no long use Google Voice. I have tried 2 different cars, 3 different USB cords, clearing cache and data, uninstalling and reinstalling the Android Auto App. All with no luck. About the only thing left I can think to do is factory reset. I hate to go to that extreme, but I drive a lot and need a functioning Android Auto.
Android Auto lets me answer calls. (It may actually be the car that is doing that). Any attempt to read incoming messages, ask directions, text a contact, ask a question, or place a call come back with "Oops, something has gone wrong, try again later". Once unplugged from the vehicle, everything works fine.
Do you have Ad Guard or some sort of adblocker installed?
I had the same problem and had to disable it for android auto, assistent, google apps and all other google apps I could find.
Problem solved

No ad blocker installed.
Another odd thing is this: On the Android Auto screen, You Tube Music is now at the top. I do not use it. I use Pandora instead. This is really strange.
You can disable YouTube Music on your mobile, it won't show up or in Android Auto select what should be on the screen.
As for your initial problem, this is not really related to the Pixel 6, the problem is related to the Google Assistant and the Google App.
Cheers
Yes, I suspected as much.
You should check your internet connection is working fine, update the Google Voice and Android Auto app, also make sure that DND is not enabled.

Perhaps using the beta versions of Google Play services, Google app and Android auto fixes the issue you're encountering. And make sure that all permissions are enabled aswell.
Ps : the beta versions can be downloaded from apkmirror.
Ended up having to factory reset the phone to fix this.
