The display of my phone was broken, but still working. Now I bought a new display and replaced the broken one. The phone starts normally, but there is no touch function. When I connect a mouse, everything works fine.
I already flashed the firmware using newflash - but nothing changed.
Any idea what else I could try?
Best regards and thank you in advance!

I have been tampering with my hero the last few days and now i have a problem. The part of the screen where the "^ phone + " is, is not working anymore. Even if i disable sense. When i'm in a game, that part works just fine. And when i press "menu" that part woks aswell.
I've put back backups wich didn't have the problem.. buit the problem persists. 'm wondering whether this could be hardware related. And what i can do softwarewise to resolve it.
Has anybody heard of a similar problem before?
(i'm on modaco 2.9 atm)
edit: when i wipe and install a new udate.zip (for instance 1.6 ion) the problem persists.
are you talking about the screen not working (e.g. a black bar, weird lines or something) or the TOUCH not working (e.g. graphics are fine, but screen is not responding in the lower area)?

Oh sorry, that was unclear. The display is fine. Touch is not working.
So, did a wipe. Did a rom update. did a radio downgrade. All these things did not solve my problem. Maybe it IS hw related? Should i contact HTC?
I also got the same problem : very few time, the bottom part works... I just sent email to HTC (in French, because I am ), I'm waiting the answer...
i have that issue too since last week. i made this video.

Often this needs sent off to HTC to get fixed, from what I've heard
Hi, I just found out that my back camera is not working.
I've already tried this:
- hard reset
- format usb
- replaced camera.apk
- removed sd card
- reflashed the same rom (2.3.4)
- flashed ics (4.0.3)
This didn't help. Camera just doesn't work, stock camera app and any other camera app. Also the led light doesn't work. Movie with exactly same problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKSdZbPQYqY&feature=g-hist&context=G2e8e3d1AHT3h97QABAA
Is it hardware problem (two days ago phone got wet, but not much ) or is there anything else I can try?
Sounds like the actual camera is broken.
Remove all traces of root.
Get it repaired free with your warranty.
Re-root.

Thanks for the reply. It is hardware issue - connection problem, will try to fix it tomorrow
Actually it might not be.
Since my last post i had the exact same problem after deleting something in titanium backup
I dont know the exact thing i deleted as i used batch delete
I restored my backup from CWM and it worked fine

In my case it was the connection problem. I just disconnected and connected back the camera and it's working fine now. I discovered this by pressing hard the back of the phone (sim card area) and camera was working while I was pressing.
Yesterday i was disassembling my a116 as my lock button was not working properly.
so i opened the phone and fixed the button. but when i put the whole phone back i found that the touch is not working now.
What might be the problem as i didn't do anything except fixing the button. what might have gone wrong . pleasae help me out if someone knows about it.
Hello Guys
I bought my Z5c in November 2015. Until Thursday it had been working fine. We all know about battery drain and all that but actually the phone was working. I personally like the phone a lot.
On Monday July 31st, I updated to Nougat 7.1.1. Everything was OK. On Thursday Morning the back / home / recent buttons were not working.
I already tried:
- Safe mode (the problem is still there)
- Factory reset
- Software repair (Xperia Companion)
- Flashed the phone and changed CDA to another region. I could not downgrade
I don't think this is a hardware issue because the buttons work in the lockscreen and in landscape mode. It just doesn't work in portrait mode.
This made the phone unusable. My phone company gave me a Sony Xperia XA for $47 for now.
The Z5c was purchased unlocked.
I really need your help please
Thanks
What can I do in this case? I don't think there's a Sony repair center in my country
hi... I have exact same problem..! plz help...
Plz help someone
.....
I am running lineage 14.1 and still there is problem. It works OK in recovery
Hi
I've got the same issue with my wife's Z5C. The navigation buttons are totally unresponsive! Phone is not rooted, so I have no idea if they work in recovery or not. But the buttons DO work if I put phone into landscape mode with Sony logo to the right, but not with the logo to the left?!?
I'm stumped here, so please provide some feedback please...
Meanwhile I'll reset phone with PC Companion and maybe later I'll downgrade a few builds...

UPDATE:
Downgraded to .160 (Generic AU) but no luck. I think this phone is toast, but the weird thing is that according to built-in diagnostics, the surfaces where the back/home/recents button are located are all functioning properly. Any thoughts?
The easy solution is to install an alternative from play store and see if it works or if you are still covered by the warranty just send it to Sony...
The 'get your hands dirty' option...
Has anyone tried flashing their phone using the flashtool http://www.flashtool.net/ ?
It Sounds to me like you are facing a software bug that would disappear if you perform a clean installation of android...
What exactly happened? Provide us with more info....
unfortunately, i act in assumption, this is a hardware issue like seen often on the z3c. The digitizer is broken at these positions. it happens often at the home/back buttons and at the pull down menu.
You can verify this by activating the glove modus (hope this is the right translation of the german Handschuhmodus) which indicates, where exactly you are hitting the touchscreen.
- fix is to replace the touchscreen.
- workarounds are to activate display rotation (and then rotate so that the buttons are appearing at the upper (right) side of the display
- activate the glove modus - i can actually still hit the buttons at their corners
-use the "Back Button" app to generate additional menu buttons.
- move the buttons with Google ADP tools
(i'm actually not allowed to post links, google for it in the official z3c Sony support forum)
Did you ever resolve this? I've come across the same problem (running stock Android 7.1.1).
Went through all reset procedures, safe mode, screen tests etc.
Seeing the same result as you - this area of the screen works fine when locked, but when unlocked it's unresponsive.
I've done a full factory reset on it, just to determine if that'll fix it - no luck.
I would love to know more about why this is thought to be a hardware issue, when the hardware concerned works fine to unlock the phone.
My next step will be flashing a custom ROM, see if that fixes it. Any other hints / tips / clues / suggestions more than welcome!

I have a Lenovo z2 plus whose bootloader I recently unlocked, installed twrp, installed viper os (android - 7.1.2) and rooted it. whenever I try to use my phone (since the last evening) , the touch works for about 2 seconds and then stops working(every time) . I was thinking it might be a software/rom issue but when I close the Screen and before opening I keep my thumb at the portion near the front camera/speaker part pressed and then open the phone, then the touch works fine till I remove my thumb from there. When I remove my thumb, then again the touch stops working. Then to make the touch work for more than 2 sec again , I need to shut the screen off and do the thumb thing again. Due to this I'm thinking this might be a hardware issue but it were a hardware issue, then why does the touch stop working exactly about after 2 seconds without the thumb thing and touch starts working every time I open the screen with the thumb thing again till the time I remove it . And due to that timing thing it seems like it might be a software issue. All the other buttons are working perfectly. I really don't want the factory reset the phone till it's really necessary due to all the data and stuff. Can anyone please tell me what the problem is and how to fix it.
Thanks,
Manan
Are you able to fix now?

HI Manan,
Are you able to fix permanently? I tried to hold between speaker and front camera but not seeing that touch is working. Can you please share some pic pointing where exactly to touch? Also are you pressing hard or lightly? Please share how to do that?
Also later are you able to resolve the issue? Did you change digitizer etc. Did it worked normally? Please let me know.
Regards
Anil
Workaround
I tried one workaround indicated by someone else on another thread. Follow below steps
Press power button to put screen off
Hold phone in left hand and put left thumb on screen
Press power button to start screen
Touch with right hand fingers
It will work till left thumb is there on screen..
If touch is lost follow from step one
Atleast this helps alot instead of only 2-3secs stuff..
Thanks to one who indicated this workaround

As said in above post, please follow workaround if you are getting issue still.
For my case after couple of days, it started working normally. Sometimes that issue comes again, but i use workaround to use the phone.
I have the same issue! Please provide where you found this solution and workaround. Did you have to change screen?
