Hi guys,
I just upgraded my device to Android 10 (incl. factory reset) and unfortunately Whatsapp does not accept the previously created backup (Huawei Backup, including data).
So I decrypted my backup with this tool (https://github.com/RealityNet/kobackupdec) and now I have the unencrypted msgstore.db from the "data\data\com.whatsapp\databases" directory.
The Whatsapp recovery process unfortunately requires an encrypted DB, so I'm not able to import it directly...
Anybody got any ideas?
Unfortunately I don't know a way either to re-encrypt a decrypted Huawei backup, to integrate the DB into a current backup.

Hiya!
I flashed my unlocked Neo V with a fresh stock ROM, fastboot-flashed a modified kernel with native root and CWM and finally installed Spacious, Smooth and Light ICS custom ROM via CWM.
I read that whatsapp is supposed to save conversation data on the SD card, so I thought it should still be there after re-install. Alas, whatsapp did not ask me whether it should import conversations and did not do so automatically either. I then checked the whatsapp-folder on the SD card and it contained pictures I received via WA, which tells me that the data seems to have been there at some point. I fear that the conversation database may have been overwritten during re-install of the app.
Now I do have a nandroid backup. However, I guess it does not contain the data from SD card. Does WA save its conversation database at some other place as well? Would it make sense to re-install the nandroid backup to extract the WA database and copy it to the new system?
Any hints are welcome.
Cheers,
Ben
I tried it and can tell you now: Yes, your WA conversations should be restored with your nandroid backup. You can then create a database backup manually and use it on your new system to import the conversations.
Hi. When I perform a factory firmware backup (via droidtools), do the config dbs in the /data/data/com.android.* get included into the backup?
Like telephony.db and mms.db?
If not, are they created automatically on respective apps (phone and messaging) first launch?
Thanks.
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a way to backup and restore only the accounts in my smartphone (no apps or data needed).
I have Honor 4C rooted running android 4.4.2, and I'm planning to upgrade to marshmallow.
Any application or file to backup or to edit in system.
Thanks.
Any file like the one with WiFi passwords?
Make a NANDroid backup first then,
Make a backup of this file:
/data/system/users/0/accounts.db
Pay (massive) attention to permissions given to the file.
Because you have to set permissions after restoring it.
Any wrong permission set will end with failure, or maybe bootloop.
I learnt at great expenses that twrp has issue with restoring an encrypted backup. The restore happens but the password that was used for the encryption is never recognized.
Is there anyways around this ?
Hello
When I access twrp I do not have the password to decrypt data.
In the past I used live backup programs such as: flashfire, onAndroid nanobackup or online nanodroid. However they are outdated or do not support the Mi 10.
My objective is to create a zip file that twrp could use to restore data and all other partitions, which is created while the phone is on/live.
Any one has a solution?
Thanks for the help
