app to route all voice input to primary mic. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a huawei android using the emui 3.0 and the secondary mic on the phone's fried but primary one (the one underneath the phone alongside USB port) still works so normal voicecalls and recordings are good but when I try and make a video or do a skype/whatsapp videocall the phone stops taking in sound.
Is there an app for routing sound intake to microphones that can divert all the sound input to the primary mic that's still working that way I could use it to record videos and make videocalls. I'd prefer to not root this (I don't think that's even a possibility on this phone) and hopefully an app could resolve it or any other workaround that gets me to start videocalls without having to plugin headphones.
Thank you

Can I use an external mic?

Is it possible for me to use my Sony ECM-MS907 stereo mic with the SGS2 to record high quality live audio, much like I do with my portable mini disc recorder?
http://www.dv247.com/microphones/sony-ecm-ms907-battery-powered-stereo-condenser-microphone--5872
And even if is possible, I'd need some software on the phone to adjust the mic level, and I'd want to be able to have the mic override the built in mic when recording HD video. Basically, I want to record HD video with high quality audio all from the phone instead of recording audio on my minidisc simultaneously while recording video footage and then having the hassle of trying to sync AV afterwards. I somehow don't think it's possible to do what I want on this phone, but it seems some people have had success plugging mics into the iphone via the headphone socket.
i simple search on the xda forum showed me a lot of results
it's better than starting a new thread

[Q]: external microphone to SGS2?

Would like to get reasonabe sound quality to video even outside and a little wind...
If you have a sponge, cut out a tiny piece and stick it around the mic. It prevents the annoying blowing sounds. There really is nothing else to do about the wind sounds.
If you want 44,1 kHz audio, you need one of the custom roms that has the HQ camera mod.
I just did a test with 2 different earbuds w/mic. the Camera app doesn't seem to use the external microphone when recording video, it just uses the internal mic. When I used the voice recorder app it does indeed use the external mic and makes a huge difference.
I have a Rode videomic at home. I'll try it later today vs a headset but I expect the same results.
very disappointing.

How did you use external mic with voice redorder app, then?

If that is really so, maybe there would be market opportunity for new accessory: easy attachable pieces of sponge

For the voice recorder app it just uses it automatically if its plugged in, same as playback is when you plug in headphones.
Unfortunately the Camera app does not operate this way which should be the normal or standard way of working when you plug in a headset/mic.
I would call it either a bug or poor design. Not sure if a hack could fix it and I don't think there are any 3rd party apps that record in HD and same quality that would use the mic if plugged in.
Do you think it's possible in any way to monitor from external mic (while recording audio) trough a bluetooth headset?
That way you could have cable free audio monitoring which would be particularly useful when I connect my external mic with a splitter cable to both the SGS II and a Zoom H4n.
I'll have quality audio for sure but I hate to be connected to my recording device with a cable for the headphones.
And I'd like to do just that with preferably the hardware I currently have.
I like mixing gadgets up for new usage scenario's
Forgive my ignorance, but I came across this thread looking for information on recording video while using an external microphone for capturing the audio.
So, are you saying it is impossible (at the moment)?
Any update on a possible way to record video with an external microphone? And which time of Microphone.
Apologies for bumping an old thread but I'll do it anyway just in case it helps even one person looking for the answers I was.
Recording video using an external microphone is possible, using one that's plugged into the 3.5mm socket. It appears, however, that you need to be running a ROM that's based on 2.3.5 or higher.
Another thread (which I now can't find) said that you might need a 'Y-splitter' (to split the phone's 3.5mm socket to separate headset and microphone connectors), but these cost very little.

Recording videos using an external mic works with my SII on Android 2.3.4
So since I am using a S3 now, if I get a Zoom H1 or a Rode Videopro, will I get stereo audio for my video recording?
Sorry for crashing in a old thread.

[Q] Solution for Audio Recording, need advice on Video Camcorder audio

When recording a song yesterday, my song ideas came out choppy.I was recording strictly wav audio and It almost sounded like there was a noise gate on the phone. After a while of digging through options, I found an option in Call settings> Additional Settings > noise reduction. When this option is selected, the phone turns on a noise gate that makes audio recordings sound terrible; However, when this option is turned off, Audio recordings sound great!! Unfortunately, this doesn't affect the audio quality when recording video, because most wav audio programs only use one microphone. So, I'm wondering....Seeing as how this phone records camcorder audio in stereo( one mic at the top and one at the bottom ), is it possible that these microphones are out of phase and thats why there is no bass in video recording? I'm assuming that the polarity on the top microphone is reversed to eliminate background noise during calls. Also, maybe there is a camcorder program where you can select which microphone to use. When I connected my Galaxy headphones( with the included Mic) the audio was redirected from the the two microphone to the headset microphone. Im thinking of making a TRRS to TRS adapter, which will connect only the microphone and see if that resolves the issue. I understand that I could just add an equalizer to the audio from video in iMovie, but I really enjoy experimenting with this problem. Furthermore, has anybody tried making an XLR to TRRS cable? I used one on my Samsung Vibrant years ago and it sounded great! any suggestions would be great!!! (To get to call settings, you have to click on the phone app, then left button to access)

[Q] Galaxy-V phone using external Mic

Hi there,
I know I can buy a TRRS splitter that has three sockets (2 are audio left and right output which for my purposes are not important), and one would be mono microphone input which I would connect to my external microphone for better quality sound when recording lectures.
But the mic input as far as I know is mainly (possibly only) used for phone calls. I need to know if it is possible for the external microphone to be used in conjunction with the voice memo app that comes loaded on the Samsung galaxy-V phone. If not, is there another similar app that it would work with?
Appreciate any help with this question... Thanks.

Stereo bluetooth on phone calls? (ignore mic)

I got some new true wireless earbuds and the audio quality is great for music, and the microphone quality is actually great when recording something like a voice note. But as soon as you use both the audio and mic at the same time, both suck.
So is it possible to use the headset in stereo just for the audio and the phone's regular microphone during calls? I've been looking around for the last hour or so and can't seem to find anything. No apps, no settings, no developer options. As soon as I turn off calls on the device it just uses the phone's speakers and mic.

To be honest ... IDK.
On some devices, you can set another audio device for a special app.
Settings - Sound and vibration - Separate app sound
I just tried it with bluetooth speakers and the phone app, but was not successful. Maybe it works for you.
