Have you kept it or removed? I read that the P10 lacked the oleophobic coating on the screen, is that the case with Mate 10 too or is it safe to be removed?
Also read somewhere that this is only intended as protection for transport by Huawei rather than a longer term use screen protector. Is that true?
I don't know these answers, but mine has began to lift at the camera. I treat it pretty gentle, so I'm going to replace it soon.
It does have a coating and the protector feels great. Obviously won't last forever and you will have to replace it
I remove it in order to put the glass protector,
from what i feel, it got scratch too easily, but well, its plastic after all...
i bought from china and it has SCREEN PROTECTOR with glass *NOT* sett well as a mm of thescreen is not totally set and the sreen is not totallyu covered.
I took mine off. Much better without it.
I have a glass one. Bought the phone from Beijing. But it's not totally well adjusted. The left side is all moved away. The screen glass protector falls short.
rjust FYI, someone do the test in youtube(probably xda user cmiiw??)
seems like mate 10 do have oleophobic coting if screen protector removed. anyone care to test?
link to youtube is below.

Wish I had kept mine on, tried three different tempered glass screen protectors and they suck, non fit right with the screen curving at the edges

want to check if the oleophobic coating is there or not on your unit, coz it is a deal breaker for me if it isn't there since I prefer touching the glass directly. Thanks

"oleophobic" is a word used to describe a type of material, which lacks an affinity to oils, ergo – it keeps fingerprint spots off of a glass panel.
basically after touch the screen, not too much fingerprint smudge retained. in a screen with no coating, the fingerprint will drive you crazy

Huawei Mate 10 pro oleophobic coating
Huawei Mate 10 pro has oleophobic coating on its back. You can see the later part of this video.
But the coating can be gradually removed by daily use. So i think we need a phone case.
I bought the phone in the alpha sale, and it's only been 2 weeks since I have been using the phone. I've been putting the phone in the other pocket away from keys and coins, But I don't know from where its getting all scratched up!
Getting a screen guard on it soon.

Keys and coins don't scratch the display. It's sand and debris that do. Also, Gorillaglass is shatter resistant, not scratch resistant. If you want a glass to be scratch resistant, it will be more brittle. Pick your poison.
I would definitely use a tempered glass screen protector. I applied mine as soon as I took the phone out of the box. Now I don't have to be as careful with it when it comes to scratches.

At the beginning yes but some user here mentioned to register one fingerprint more than once. This helped and it's working fine now. Not as fast and reliable as a capacitive fp sensor though.

Great, still don't like it and I'll trust Xiaomi when they say that fp might not work with such things.
By registering fingerprint multiple times the FP sensor now works fast even with tempered glass on screen...
IDFPS is worst in RedmiK20. I'm missing my old phones back FPS, which is lighling fast, accurate and convinient to use your finger from back! I hate IDFPS (may be Xiaomi has executed it wrong).
Has anyone tried the Hydrogel self-healing screen protectors?
Hi guys, How easy screen can be scratched, is it worth buy a screen protector/tempered glass?. I have a Samsung J7 Prime and it doesn't has screen protector/tempered glass and screen has not scratches. So I'm wondering if MI 9t can be treated on the same way.

Personally haven't been using screen protector... Can only see a couple of small scratches under bright light at an acute angle. Asked family if they could see any scratches and they couldn't. Fine so far I guess :good:

that isn't a solution for everyone, so doesn't make sense advertise it as a solution
i have to register 4 fingers (at least first two of each hand, cause i use phone on both hands, and i use it on car-mount or on table), i can't register all fingerprints 2 times (max is 5 fingers, stupid limit...), so this isn't a real solution.
and glass makes fingerprint crazy.... i use it just while i wait hydrogel coming from aliexpress, without glass is almost as a capacitive fp sensor, glass really makes it ****, and if you have just A VERY LITTLE dirtiness on finger (or worse, water), even registering 2 times, you have to try 4 or 5 times with glass on, without glass dirty ( or wet) fingers work quite good.
Don't tell lies. I work with grease, my hands are dirty often and I don't have problem with FP. Wet fingers make it impossible to use FP, but that's logic - try to touch mirror with wet fingers - you won't see finger's lines - you can't cheat physics, but you can use face scanning

Hi, does anyone else experience a fingerprint reading issue with a glass-based screen protector?
I've tried 2 versions already (with camera hole and without), and with both of them unlocking the phone using a fingerprint is far from working smoothly.
I've tried to re-add the fingerprint and enable the touch sensitivity, but the result is the same.
I'd before a silicon-based protector which used to work perfectly, but I don't like this type of protector.

Ultrasonic FP sensor does not work with glass protector, not perfectly. Use plastic ones, or UV glue (like whitestone dome). I decided to go without protection, obviosly the best solution...until the first crack or scratch.

delete your fp
add fprints again after new screen protector placed
( i made with mine, just press a little more when you're setting new fp )
Try amFilm Hybrid. Its half plastic half glass and it works flawlessly. Been using since day one, no issues with FP.

Tried that already, indeed it works better when I'm hard-pressing my fp but this kind of experience is not what I've hoped for.
Literally, I really thought that an under-the-screen detector is the best solution but once I understood that it works only for a specific point in the screen, and the issues with various glass-based protectors, I think that a sensor in the back of the Smartphone is actually a better solution.

Any glass screen protector with uv glue should be working fine if u press a little on the fingerprint location while uv-ing.. been using it since s10+
I'm using a film screen guard from Gadgetshieldz and I don't have issues with fingerprints, it's the tempered glasses that are causing the problem! I used tempered glass on my S21 and had the fingerprint sensor issue.
Howdy folks. I tried the whitedome on the s20ultra. it was thick with all the glue. the fingerprinter sensor sucked with it on. and it wasnt even durable..
Is the official samsung screenprotector the way to go or?
That general consensus is true, to the best of my understanding and experience.
Nope I've used whitestone dome since the s20. It's never failed me. I rarely get fingerprint rejections. I also had the s21 and s22 ultra.. No issues with it whatsoever.
You might have applied it improperly.
Agree with the above. Used Whitestone with Note 10+ and S21U and satisfied with fingerprint response.
Very durable and best coverage while S Pen rides it nicely.
It helps to register the same fingerprint twice under different entries.
I use cheap Chinese uv glue screen protectors without fingerprint because it is a tradeoff but I'd prefer glass protector over plastic ones.

Any screen protector that is not glass should work well
I use SBS foil from mediamarket and fingerprint sensor work without issue.
I got a Ringke Dual Easy Wing and no issue with touch it with the fingerprint sensor. Quite snappy actually.
I had a miserable experience trying to install the Samsung one. Wish they factory installed it.

Really? Is it that hard?
Pretty confused whether to get one and try myself ..
I generally use the non-glass matte protectors on my phones and they tend to work fine. Whenever I hand my 10 year old my phone when I upgrade every 6 months I put on the whitestone glass ones and they seem to work just fine with the fingerprint. Generally don't notice any issues at all.
Got a simple hydrogel protector from my x70 Pro+ which KINDA fits and there are no issues here. Waiting for proper protectors from Aliexpress - I sure as hell wont spend 20€ for a piece of thin plastic.

I bought a cheap £1.69 film screen protector on eBay and my fingerprint sensor works every bit as well now as I'd did with no protector fitted. Don't waste your money on Samsung's expensive film
My own personal experience is cheap tempered glass screen protectors don't work well if at all on ultrasonic fingerprint sensors as used in the S range over the years but do work fine on optical sensors used in the A range. Just my $0.10 view
Dear Community,
Received a S23Ultra and now I am on the lookout for a glass(but not limited to) screen protector which allows for working Fingerprint Unlock. I wrote Glass because i guess something like the whitestone dome would dissipate the impact forces in the glass protector, instead of transmitting it to the screen. Previously i know zagg had a impact protective Film, but now they changed their products too much, it confusing.
What is your experience ? what do you recommend ?
Thanks
My phone is due to arrive tomorrow and I'll be trying these screen protectors. I've looked through all the usual brands I'd use but the S21 was a nightmare with the fingerprint reader so I had to keep it bare in the end. So, I'm going to try these and will report back ASAP.

Thanks, i just ordered the whitestone dome tempered glass, although in the past with my s10 I had it crack in my hose pocket . Most probably will order some other, based on other ppls experience as I expect it not to hold up too long

A bit of both. It also doesn't want to stay fully down for me. The edges have lifted but there is a second one in the box. The rear camera covers though are great.
I brought this one, https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004031147265.html
I previously had one from Mocolo and their glass is silky smooth, you can definately feel the difference between other brands.
It also works fine with fingerprint sensor!
So, just to update this thread with my choice at the moment. I installed this whitestone dome glass, fingerprint works after readding my fingerprints(actually worked with the saved ones from the naked glass but slower/had to press firmly) and now it works better, but still noticebly slower than without the protector. Having face unlock with this also on, i find it a good tradeoff.
Tbh , on my s10+ had the same glass and on some vacation found it crack in my jeans , so lets see how long this will last. Probably i will buy some other cheaper brands mentioned here after this first glass cracks. They have a really cool and easy installation procedure, got a nice fit. The glass has some dots to ensure an even separation from the screen glass, so i guess the impact protection is better that way given the depth which allows the forces to dissipate inside the hardened glue.
BR and thank you for sharing your choices of glass protectors with fingerprint working!
I use Zeelot. Fp working good and it's tempered glass

23ultra is more flat... i wonder if the adapter will also fit to align the screen protector. For s22u is half price cheaper than for 23ultra and i already destroy one because of dust and second in almost perfect but still some dust on the edges. I like Samsung protector as feeling with finger is almost like original gorilla glass. And it is not easy peel off on the screen edges... But i can't find anyone who already try it.
Ok I have used AmFilm for years. No issues with it sticking and fingerprint sensor worked. This year with the s23 ultra they are using different glue that doesn't stick well. Screen starts coming off for me after less than 24rs. Good product in the past terrible product now. Unless they update the glue there product this year is garbage.
On a good note I just installed the IMBZBK. Sensor working great and glue seems to be stronger. Still too early to tell but will give you guys an update after a week or so.

Actually so far the Samsung one feels great.
My Ringke lasted exactly one week before delaminating. I will install the spare but then probably move to something else.
