Redmi Note 3 Pro Network Issue - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

I've been using RN3 and testing several roms and kernels since the release. As it being my primary device, I'm facing some network issues with the phone. The mobile network connectivity is very flawed and unstable since a month. I'm attaching a link of video of exact problem faced by me(Keep staring at the network icon in notification panel when I started the youtube video). The network abrupts suddenly and then comes back making it unstable, this whole thing happens a lot while internet usage. This makes my gaming experience dull (while playing PUBG and Mobile Legends)
Here are the measures that I've taken till now:
1.) Tried several roms such as Pixel Experience 9.0, Havoc OS 3.1 Android 10, Resurrection Remix .
2.) I got my network cable replaced from a local phone repairing shop.
3.) I tried to toggle through many network types in Engineering mode.
4.) The sim card I'm currently using is Airtel India so Volte support isn't there on RN3. Tried turning off the Volte option.
Current ROM and Kernel: Havoc OS 3.1 Jan 2020 Security Patch and Elindir Kernel V2 60Hz oc.
Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.

Jio works only best on kenzo coz it supports volte on kenzo and stays in lte mode all the time even when u r calling someone it wont change to 2g.

Jio network is very poor at my place so I switched to Airtel. This problem arised before a month or so. Before that everything was fine.
P.S. Airtel is the fastest 4G network in India

If Both jio and airtel network is poor then its phone issue. Did u change the charging board? The one which comes with microusb port.
Original board is HMFS. Check if its HMFS or CTFS ?
CHECK those spring antenna contacts are properly connected inside board.

Yes I got the charging board changed nearly before a month and I believe the problem arised since then.
Now I don't know how to distinguish between a HMFS or CTFS, Would you please tell me the exact difference so that I can identify and get it replaced?

My problem is a bit different
I have a jio sim in slot 1, and the problem is that I can't call a few jio users(only a few), some I can call but some I can't
Incoming from that no. Is perfect
But I don't know what is the problem
Is it hardware issue or software or something else

Solution [Fix]
This is how I managed to fix the issue-
I did not change any hardware. I simply installed Network Signal Guru and locked LTE Band 40 while being on the LTE/CDMA/WCDMA in Engineering mode. I used it for 3-4 days and slowly I started to notice smoother connection experience. Finally, I stopped using the app and I'm back to normal and stable Airtel 4G connection.

Sprint LS990 Roms Network Problem

All these Roms including zv4 and zv8 on Ls990 Showing In Screen shot in Pakistan working Smooth without simcard but with sim starts bootlooping sometime signals appear then again starts bootlooping. Now iam on Lion Rom User interface is good but network problem .
use fulmics or cm13 im using fulmics 5.3 without any issues on zong.
Zong is not working in our area and Iam using warid CM13 is working for sometime and then again starts boot looping .
Its battery problem
Brother, this is not a network problem, its battery problem. Replace your battery. I have same problem start with same as you have right now. Than it became more and at the end bootloop with my old battery. I searched google and found that its battery problem. I replaced battery than all problems gon. At the end avoid flash lot of custom roms day by day, that is another reason to damage battery, specially dont often use battery calibration app.

I have the same issue network problem signal bars showing for two minutes and after that showing litte cross and this process continues till now on every rom like cloudyg3,euphoria,cm12 and fulmics dont what to do tried everything but didn't find any solution
This thread should be in the Troubleshooting section.
Also, you can screenshot things on your computer.... taking a picture of your computer monitor is just blurry and lazy.
With that said, I would have to agree with a previous post that you should start by replacing the battery. If that fails, come back to us with much more information so we can help you out. (and in the right section)
Simcard on ls990 is for your 4glte only. 3g cdma is different not based on your iccid number.
What are your APN settings? And what cdma subscription do you have selected .... ruim/sim or nv?
Did you replace the battery and was your issue resolved?

Problem: Network signal unstable/weak

Hello all,
I do have the following problem which is not new and mentioned in other threads but there is no solution and the threads are quiet old - so I hope it is OK to start a new one:
My LeMax2 is constantly dropping the network signal and the signal is in general very weak (I can only get calls outside, Internet is working irregular "sometimes", outside only. After arrival signal was fine. No difference. Flashed a couple of different custom roms, still fine. Ended up using SmallEUI. After a while (maybe two weeks) signal dropping began. What I tried so far:
- Flashed alternate modem file from SmallEUI, no difference.
- Switched rom back to india20s. Problem stayed the same. -
- Switched to LOS13 (which is still running).
- Entered *#*#4636#*#* switched and set GSM/UMTS band to automatic. Problem got worse.
- flashed various modem files, no difference
- renewed APN settings. No difference.

Have you looked into your carrier? Maybe it's not a device problem..... Try a signal app to see if your connecting to the right bands, getting a good enough signal ....
Have you tried a factory reset?
When I was with T-Mobile they cut service in my area without letting customers know, I ended up buying a signal amplifier for my house to finish out my contract.

Hey,
thank you for your reply. I put the SIM card into another phone and it worked like a charm. So I think it is not the carrier. Rechecked the APN settings also. Regarding the LTE band I am not sure. Most of the time I only get a H+ connection so no LTE band at all. Thing is: The connection was really good with this phone in the beginning.
Factory reset: Yes, and even more (flashed 6 different roms I think and various modems)

x829 no signal
i lived in ireland i have x829 from banggood i don't have networking signal strange when i when battery is 0% turn off phone after Charge the battery signal come back for few minutes after again disappear

This thing solved the LTE stability problem for me:

select phone info
Click the menu on top right on action bar
Select radio band and select band 43
I get decent speeds with some sudden boosts from time to time. PS I am using Airtel in India.

Hey, did you have success in resolving the issue?
I had problems too with my le s3 x626, it didn't recognize the sim card anymore, froze, and had to force reboot. Luckily, it was a battery issue. For some reason when the phone goes under 10%, it does that. Easily solved upon charging (happened more than once).
Same issue in the philippines
Heyyo, I'd recommend looking into AEX as @shivatejapeddi recently made a bunch of changes for VoLTE and carrier settings that might help.
Otherwise? It could be your carrier might need further apn and carrier configuration changes in order to work at least on custom ROMs.
Another thing to try? Replacing your /system/etc/apns-conf.xml with this one from the Pixel 2 XL. Download it > reboot to TWRP > mount system > make a copy of that /system/etc/apns-conf.xml somewhere as a backup > replace the /system/etc/apns-conf.xml with the one downloaded > reboot to system > reset apn configuration to defaults to force ROM to reload apns-conf.xml

magandang umaga! I'm mestizo and my wife is a Filipina, thus my son is second generation mestizo hehe. What carrier you with? I can try and look into it but no guarantees I can fix it.
Please try the above apns-conf.xml to see if that works
Has anyone found a solution for this problem? I think I have tried every rom and every medem file but no luck...The one thath works best for me is EUI 30s from Crisbal, but still i some times lose the networksignal from time to time

Ok this is super weird but the Leeco Le Max pro I used had the same issue. BUT. When I'd switch on the hotspot, and let someone connect to my Leeco, they get unrestricted LTE speeds. I cannot use my phone data plan but others can using my wifi So. I don't know exactly what's the issue. All those with this issue do check their hotspot capabilities. Thank you.

tried everything, the last one to do for me is REWRITE IMEI on the phone, i noted a strange IMEI=0 or some difficult in reading it (x526 from myefox.it)

anyone got this resolved guys? i just bought two leeco x520 phones and both have the same issue. wifi keeps dropping over and again every 10 seconds or so. It's like a loop........ drop .. reconnect .. drop .. reconnect .. and so on. tried two roms so far, currently on lineage os 16.0 and have the same issue on this rom too. on top of the connectivity problem, a new problem has came up .. the phone shuts down while playing games which is super annoying. and the phone heats up a lot while recharging the battery. i'm so fed up

Problem connecting to mobile network

I recently purchased this phone for a family member. We set it up yesterday, and found that the sim card from their old phone that we've inserted isn't capable of allowing the phone to make/receive texts/calls. It just says something along the lines of "Can't connect to mobile network", despite showing signal bars. When I checked the connectivity bands against the mobile network's, it appeared that the phone should at least support 2G & 3G. I'm in the UK and haven't modified the ROM.
Has anyone had this issue before, and does anyone know of a fix? I've heard that some of the newer official ROMs are better for connectivity, but I don't want to flash the phone and void its warranty if the fault lies with the phone.

Does your device say x820, x821, x822 or x829 on the back of it? If not does it say what it is in the settings > about phone menu?
Can you please specify which version of EUI ROM it is running? Should be in Settings > About Phone.
As for upgrading EUI ROM versions? That will not void warranty as long as you don't have the x829 with EUI ROM 5.8.016s.... which is what I had and x829 with 5.8.016s is garbage. So many darn problems with it and has software updates disabled even via recovery update.zip... I didn't stay on it long since LineageOS 13.0 at the time officially came to the x2 heh

I believe I might have the same problem with the mobile network. In my case, I am quite certain that the battery is the problem. I got the phone some weeks ago, but I assume it was laying around for quite some time, which might be not very beneficial for the battery? Anyway, the voltage should be 4.4 V after loading and as long as the voltage stays above about 4 V, I have good data connection. But after a while, the voltage drops below 4 V and I do not have any connection anymore, despite showing all signal bars! Is it possible, that you see a similar behavior with your phone? If you load it on a charger, does your data work?

I personally do not experience this but I'm 100% sure that the voltage from the battery should stay around 4V. If this happens try turning on the battery saver and dimmer your screen so you can spread the battery load. Maybe it will work idk.

You are probably right in saying that the voltage should stay around 4 V. This is probably the case for new or at least well aged batteries. However, that seems not to be the case of my battery. According to the App that reads out the voltage, it sometimes drops to values as low as 3.6 V. Sometimes, the voltage recovers a bit, but typically, not enough to enable data connection, for which I believe to need at least around 4 V to work (reliably!).

I've tried making calls with the battery at full charge, but I get the same result. It's really peculiar...

I purchased a X820 from China (TomTop.com) and the junk had an EXTREMELY LOW signal.I NEVER received network signal at home.I have to go near a cell tower to get signal,as soon i drive away from the tower (around 5 blocks)i lost signal and could not make or receive calls..Remember that the company LeEco went out of business and the phones we buy today are NOT made by LeEco but are made by many private factories in China and in reality are cheap clones.I send the junk back and purchased a X829.Now i have very good signal and connection never dropsJust return your phone is defective..Here is a video i had to send to tomtop.com in order to get a refund.

I have exactly the same problem when the phone's battery level goes around 70% (~4v).
i.e. when battery drops below 70%, the network signal shows LTE with around 3 bars but there's no network connectivity and can't make/receive phone call. But as soon as I plug in the charger, everything works perfectly! This happens on all ROMs.
I wish there is a solution for this.

NOW i can call on 3G but no voice ,,,,, but i can't be called. .....after restart with / without APN / searchable 3G/4G network Digi.Mobile ...signal is lost and is cost me allot of time and energy . i even lost any hope .....(coul be a hardware problem ?)

I believe your phone is a X829. Someone installed the X820 firmware to sell it easier. It doesn't have Band 20 for 4G. Tesco mobile is working on O2 network and they're using Band 20 for 4G network. Despite that it should work on 3G. In my opinion you should install a custom ROM and check things there...

Ended up just being too frustrating, so we returned it for a refund & bought a different phone instead...
It's a shame, aside from that one issue it seemed to be a great phone, especially for the price

I made the mistake and only got a partial refund.. Didn't know it had the focus issue... At least I got nearly half the money back. Network is working fine as I'm on Three..
Got a new Le X526. Always telling me server erroranytime I try to browse on anything but I have full network

fluctuations in network

I am using 3 yr old redmi note 3, I am facing a problem of network connection frequently. Whenever I play online game I lag badly, usually my ping is 350ms but I miss connection sometimes
And also my network become stale and I have to switch to airplane mode and then back and then it works fine till I leave it idle for sometime and it again become dead. I don't face any problems while downloading movies on my amazon prime video and it gets downloaded at speed of 4 to 5 Mbps. Then what is the problem. Is it network issue or my mobile handset issue?

Use atleast one Jio sim.
Rn3 is good with jio coz it has VOLTE enabled.

Use that jio sim inside phone. Why people use jiofi if its gives same internet plan.
Rn3 is enabled only for JIO volte. Unfortnately Xiaomi didnt give update for airtel or voldafone volte.
Or u can unlock phone bootloader and install android 9.0 pie rom. And check if network is good on pie rom.

Question 61.2.A.0.418, XQ-BC52 signal problems

Hi, I am new to Sony family and bought used III which mightve been a Mistake.
I never see the signal having all bars full. It also reports values around 100dbm.
I have not been making calls really but I can see the reception is worse than with my old Xiaomi 9, same for 4g. Sometimes it drops and only restart fixes it.
Running dualsim, different carriers. Did network config restarts etc.
Lets assume it is sw problem. Could it be bad non-eu stock rom? How do I check?
I might immediatelly go with custom rom, maybe on android 12 just to see if it works better. Any suggestions? I just dont think factory reset or flashing stock is gonna fix it easily and I am open to experiments as long as the system and mainly signal reception is stable because next stop is trashbin really. The phone is overall great, I just did not expect phones having such problems nowadays.
I've seen the same, especially if I go underground for a few minutes - the phone can't reconnect unless I restart it or switch on and off the airplane mode.
But apart from that I have a pretty stable connection, no matter what the bars show.
My uneducated guess is power savings affect the signal strenght.
Never had problems during calls, no matter if driving or stationary

As A current Metro by T-mobile sales rep, and self proclaimed cell phone guru, some carriers require a phone to be registered on your account for it to fully work, even if the phone on paper has all the supported bands of said carrier. so this could be the problem, and if it's a software problem you can simply reinstall the correct firmware for your region and device and see if that fixes the issue, you could also try a different region but same device model number...

I have not really tested it much in such environment like underground. The signal mostly stays ok, not full at all but the connection works tho. I had only like 2-3 restarts/week due to connection reporting only EDGE available (still I couldnt browse anything) and both sim signals showed a problem (exlamation mark), I think it could have been caused by worse reception conditions and it eventually stopped working at all.

I dont see registration being a requirement here in EU. These are prepaid simcards, no binding to a device, no contract and such.
I dont know if its software problem. After little bit of Googling I came to a conclusion that Sony does indeed have problem with signal reception no matter what is the cause. To me it seems it could be SW related. Question is if flashing stock rom is the way to go or maybe using a custom rom as daily driver?

What os/rom do you have? Have you had any success on making the reception better, more stable? Did custom rom help with that anyhow?

In the states Metro by T-Mobile is a prepaid company that uses T-Mobile's network, but they specifically require your current device to be on your account to make sure they can give you the correct info on why your phone isn't working correctly. And some times to send the correct configuration file to your device. But in your specific case i would say go the firmware route and see if that fixes it before calling the carrier to see if there's a config file or something similar they need to send.

Thanks for the explanation. I chose the FW route, testing AlphaDroid as of now. So far so good. Reception already looks better so I will stick to this rom for now and see how it performs.

Just a tip, you might wanna force 4G even on custom ROMs, I am running same config as you double sim and diff carriers but i get better result by forcing LTE Only on my main data SIM.

I have a quick update for you regarding my devices connectivity problems
I reflashed the latest global firmware, this overrides the modem 5g configs that you find on all of the 5g enabling guides.
immediately my reception AND my phone switching between 3G, 4g 4g+ etc was better. Im not saying im magically getting full bars, but its improved substantially on top of switching between networks when travelling etc is instantly now. Instead of me having to enable flight mode to reset my network every time.
i will try flash a custom rom and see if the reception stays fine
only had problems after trying to enable 5g and follow the guides.

I had only one network disconnect on AlphaDroid but it managed to fix itself within minutes. Still the display seems bit irresponsive to touches at times, baterry drain is not the best and also call quality does not seem to be the best. So I am considering switching to global or maybe different custom. Ofc it could be just my device.

You should start using 120Hz if it feels slow (go into QS settings and get the refresh rate toggle from there), also enable High polling rate from Settings > Display for better responsiveness, also if you're rooted/using Shizuku you should try https://github.com/kyujin-cho/pixel-volte-patch/releases it may unlock some SIM options that may improve your call quality.

6.1.2.A.0.447 was what I upgraded too
Honestly, I don’t have a single practical use case for my phone where i need 5g enabled, so it’s really not a deal breaker for me to not have that enabled. 4g+ is still pretty quick especially for my use case. If you want volte & vowifi I recommend magisk + zygisk so you can use banking apps. Works well for me and call quality is fantastic
edit: I think I should note i did a full clean flash, flashing all and wiping all data on the phone. It’s been a few days and signal noticeably better.
