Thank you so much ! exactly what I was looking for.
i use EasySMB but software like MIX,ES and Solid can do that with ease.
however, easysmb requires an active connection and i wanted to mention FolderSync Pro..

Hey all, I have been looking everywhere for an app or method to remotely transfer files to AND from my android device from my pc, without the restriction of having to be on my local network wifi. I'm beginning to think there may not be one available, although I can't see why not.
Any Ideas?
If all you need is file transfering, try an FTP server.

Dropbox?
Pocketcloud, or teamviewer used with dropbox can accomplish this. Remote access your pc, copy file to dropbox, and download to sd card. A little tedious, but works for me.

Those all sound like they need WiFi, sounds like he's look to use Bluetooth? I mean you got to use something.
Agreed that dropbox or similar cloud storage may be your best bet. Just set up the desktop client to sync to a folder on your computer, and to go back to your phone, you can use a program like Dropsync, which offers two way syncing between phone and dropbox.

Are you rooted?
He said he doesn't want to be on his local wifi as in he wants to be able to do this away from home. And no all those don't need wifi

I vpn into my work network and then use es file explorer to get the files I need.

I wish somebody could get sshdroid or quicksshd to work over 3G or 4G, but I don't know enough about VZs network. If that works for somebody, then let me know.
One could use Tasker to maintain a VPN connection. I use VPNRoot.
Team viewer now can control droid remotely.
A phone as a PPTP server would be ultimate.

I have Motocast on my Motorola Droid 4 which lets me view/access any file on my computer as long as both my phone and laptop are connected to the internet and I have the Motocast software running on my computer.
Are there any similar apps that work on non-Motorola Android devices?
Thanks

Yeah it's one of the few good apps I've seen that isn't plagued by a ton of people wrongly giving it one stars because they didn't bother to read what it does or how it works.

I use ES File Explorer which can access shared folders via LAN. No software is needed on the host computer other than setting up the shared folder(s).
How do you reach the PC if it's nat'd behind the router?

From your cell phone, how do you reach your PC to access the shared directory, if the PC is behind a nat'd router?

I'm pretty sure you have to go into settings and network options. You may have to change your router settings to allow access as well.

You may try a VNC server service (for example droid VNC server) and a VNC client on your computer. I think this is the most reliable way.
Or apps like Android Screencast, Android Screen Monitor
Does it need internet connection??

You can also connect trough USB with ADB, but that sounds a too long way for a very straight forward process.

I translated this manual to make Huawei MultiScreen and Huawei Share work on any notebook or Desktop. I hope it works for everyone.

Tried it, works really well ! It's awesome for sending images and files over your PC easily, and copy / paste text. I was also impressed by the latency of the screen mirroring, pretty good.
Thanks a lot !

Ouch, now i get it.
You need to get yourself an Bluetooth USB dongle, but i think it will not work because you need to get and an NFC card reader, too
If you buy those 2 items, you'll get yourself NFC+Bluetooth on your DESKTOP PC

How do you like the Manager, is it usefull? Im mostly interested in moving files and replying to Messages/Whatsapp via PC instead of using phone.

I'm not using it, just did the test to see if it works (and it works on me, because i have Bluetooth& NFC card reader on my laptop, near palm rest, left side of laptop) and how it works.
I'm using Huawei Share to send/recieve files over WiFi (from my laptop to my phone and viceversa) and WhatApp Web, if need it. But i guess it's helpfull for users who send a lot of RCS/SMS over Messages app or need to fast transfer files between devices.
So maybe someone else who use it might get you a better opinion :silly:

Sry, m8, but i don't own an Huawei Matebook. I have as my own device a Surface laptop and my wife has my ''old'' Dell Latitude E7440 (Intel Core i7-4600U, Haswell) device with NFC enabled. That's the one where i've made my tests using the guide from this thread...
Maybe somebody else @here can give some tips :highfive:
