I bought the 8gb RAM version of realme xt, but only 4.28gb is available out of 8gb.
Is this a issue or the color OS is really this heavy?
How much ram is consumed for 4gb ram version?
Unused RAM = wasted RAM, you should be happy it's being used.

I agree with you. I have the 6GB version and usally about ~2,4GB of free RAM. No problems with multi tasking

Hello,
I'm asking if it is worth buying the 3gb ram version over the 2gb ram since it costs about 1000 EGP more for the 3gb ram and it comes without warranty.
The 2gb model costs 3400 EGP with 1 year warranty
The 3gb model costs 4300 EGP without warranty
Yes bro, go with 3 GB ram, 2 gb is not sufficient

Unequivocally yes.
You get twice the storage on top of 1 gb more ram. Easily worth the extra money. You can recover a hard bricked phone yourself (I have done it twice) but you need very steady hands and some knowledge of small electronics repair. So basically, be careful and always follow directions carefully so you don't hard brick your phone.
I have the 2gb, the ram is somehow enough but the internal storage isn't... You cannot move the apps to sd so if you install large apps go to the 3gb ram.
I have 2GB model and it is enough...it gives even better score in RAM then 3GB version...but I would like more storage but its enough for me, cuz I keep media and everything on microsd...and you are still left with about 9GB of apps you can install...

How about gaming performance? Is it quite smooth as on the 3GB version or you face any lag? That what would matter in addition to the storage since I'll root my phone and could force move the apps with these App2SD applications.

Nope, it is same performance as on 3GB...
You can install apps on microsd, but performance in this apps will be reduced... So im not using that.
So the gaming performance? It's same.
But still, I'd prefer to buy 32 gb version. You know, More games = more storage.
I have the 3GB and easily use 2gb of ram.. so... theres that...
Absolutely...huge difference.
also price difference is very less
Take that 3gb, I regret to have 2gb of RAM as I know this phone consumes alot of RAM resources than my previous phone Zenfone 5.

It depends on how you use your phone, like what apps you will install, whether you clear background apps frequently... If you have a phone with 2 GB RAM and 64-bit SoC, you can have a idea on how performance on 2 GB variant is.
I was on miui8, where i used to get 1.3 to 1.7 Gb of ram free on my redmi note 4 mido 3gb ram phone. But on every los14 based rom i get only 700 to 900 mb ram free. Does anyone knoe how can i get more free ram on custom roms?? Is there any app or tweak which can free ram, please tell.

Why do you think more free RAM improves anything?
Free ram = wasted ram.

Exactly the same question I was going to ask. Forget free RAM. Forget RAM management apps. Forget closing apps to free up more RAM. Linux memory management is already quite efficient. Your utilities are not going to improve it (either at all, or by any significant amount).
That's it. Free RAM is unused RAM. It's useless until it is used... Any device has inbuilt memory management that cares about the memory needs of running processes. If your device shows free RAM of 1GB all the time than your device has 1GB more RAM than it needs.
Why you want more free ram? You bought a phone with 3GBs of ram just to use half of it, why?
They think its windows, when you dont have free ram anymore it will lags or out of memory lol...
Hey I have reshmi note 4 2GB variant .. I have upgraded miui 8 to 8.5 as I think if RAM management will be good ...But now condition is worst I have only 300 mb free RAM even when I have not installed any heavy app .. any suggestion what should I do now or which ROM should i use

Why do you want more free RAM? It has been repeated ad nauseum on this and other forums, but I will say it again - FREE RAM IS WASTED RAM!
>2 GB ram on miui
I just got my s23 ultra. The vram was turned on to 8gb. Is that needed? Should I keep it going? I have the 512gb model with 12gb of ram already.
If you need that much ram you can use it but be aware that trying to use an ssd as ram, even a top spec ssd isn't anywhere near as fast as slow ra

I also own an S23 Ultra. Where did you find the VRAM info?
Mind that VRAM stands for Virtual RAM and should be the RAM available for your GPU, not the overall RAM of your device.

That's not right. The soc for these devices share RAM between cpu and gpu. There is no dedicated gpu RAM. Vram is simply virtual RAM on your ssd that is super slow compared to your actual ram
He means RAM plus...
Thanks all, I disabled it, I just wasn't sure why it was on by default. 12Gb will be plenty for me.

Never said it was dedicated to the GPU. I said it was "the RAM available for your GPU".
Thanks, @aureum.
In that case, it means that a defined amount the device's storage, which by default comes at 8GB, of "RAM Plus" which by default is 8GB, in support of the actual RAM.
@fil.lujan I suggest you don't disable the RAM Plus option. Leave it on at 8GB. It just takes 8GB from your storage and should be pretty unsignificant on the 512GB variant.
RAM plus is working as swap on windows, when you reach max RAM it should goes to RAM plus... However i read that ram plus is not for actual processing, only hibernate the apps for faster reloading them to RAM when needed, Some users od 22u point that disabling ram plus speed up the device I try it on my 23u and did not see any improvement when disabled so i left it at 8GB.

Considering how the SoC on this smartphone is already a beast, I don't see how it would be that impactful (in term of raw numbers).
But 12GB RAM is already enough for most users, topping to 12+8GB seems a little overkill.
UFS 4.0 is equivlant to Lpddr4 speed but allitle slower
And Ram plus aka V Ram will only be used when you have allot of apps open in back ground to prevent app restarts so it doesn't need to be as fast as the actual ram

It's worth shutting it off and seeing if it has any performance impact. Previous phones all suffered noticeable penalties and honestly with 12GB, it's not needed.

Well, I'd agree with you for older devices. Thought, the S23 Ultra is packed with high-performance UFS 4.0 storage. At worst, there would be the slightest performance impact (if none at all). Hence, I believe this time the pros are higher than the cons when keeping RAM Plus active, from my perspective.
just bought mine. with 8gb ram. should i worry in daily base of heavy use? gaming, multitask, photoshoot etc instead of 12gb ram version?
It will be ok. Don't worry. Enjoy your beast
