I don't have any USB device connected other than the mouse on PC. i have even tried on my laptop with no mouse.
I have downloaded pit file and uvjfd.tar two times from the forums.
I have tried flashing multiple times from both my PC & laptop using Odin 3.0 v1.0, v1.85, v3.07(latest), EZOdin v1.70 and installed Samsung USB drivers multiple times, even downloaded latest driver version from official Samsung Vibrant page.
I have tried flashing from all possible USB ports on my PC & laptop wherever the phone was being recognized. But now with the latest official Samsung Vibrant drivers, my phone is not being detected by any USB port on my PC.
But whenever I have flashed, Odin is stuck at Cache or Modem or recently(with latest samsung drivers), DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET !!
I have even tried flashing through Heimdall 1.3.1 but the zadig.exe shows the device only as 'Gadget Serial' no matter how many times I try, and installs the driver with device as Gadget Serial under libusb in Device Manager and I also tried by updating driver as Samsung Composite USB as mentioned in readme. Either Way Heimdall frontend will not flash and says "Failed to detect compatible download-mode device".
Edit: I tried with another USB cable, of LG GS500v, and Oh Lord Jesus, Odin flashed past it. Great, time to buy a new Samsung USB cable, now!

Dont worry....this time go to download mode and flash eugenes that does not brick aka Eugene_2E_JK2_Froyo with the same pit file and ur good to go brother
Similar Problem but different results.
Hi!
Whomever can help me, please help me. Right now, I am on stock Froyo 2.2 after the factory reset so this is how I got it but it is rooted only. I am trying to overwrite CWM because I cannot get into its recovery no matter how many times I flash it. Odin just will not recognize my phone when I am in download mode. When my phone is on, it will allow the mass storage and that works but when in download mode, my PC says unrecognized devide. I have a feeling that is the problem and I have updated the drivers several times, especially from Samsung but to no avail. Does someone have a solution to this problem? I want to go to Avatar ROM with my phone which is Jelly Bean and have seen its possible but I feel CWM is holding me back.
Thank you in advance!

Can you explain the steps your taking when you try to get into odin
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
The steps I take is put the phone into download mode by pulling the battery and then holding both the volume up and down then reinsert the battery. It shows the download screen. I then start odin and I have tried version 1.7 and the latest version of 3.0.7. Then I plug my phone into the USB port and windows pops up saying unrecognized device. I have reinstalled drivers several times. Now to describe my desktop is that it is a pentium III 550 Mhz...and old computer and running Windows XP Professional. I am able to do the mass storage when the phone is on normally so it recognizes it that way though. I have tried different USB ports on it as well so just unsure. I have rooted the phone and have superuser app access. ROM manager was supposed to have flashed the recovery mode but it never goes into the CWR mode either and its version is 2.5.1.2 which I have seen work on these phones in videos on YouTube so guess I am trying a different route so I can play with the mods to find a ROM I like. I was going to try the Avatar ROM for the vibrant but just cannot seem to get to the point where I can get the ROM flashed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Keep the battery in and lull up Odin. Cut off the phone and hold both volumes while inserting USB hopefully the computer will then recognize it

Its still not recognizing it. I am almost consigned to wait until either my laptop is fixed or get a new laptop to replace it because this desktop is 13 years old and has the old USB 1.1 but wouldn't think that makes a difference. Any other ideas? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the USB drivers but I have not installed Kies yet but heard some bad things about that.

USB cable does make difference. And USB ports even on the same computer. Check also your phone's drivers. Finally, try out Heimdall one-click package for t959, it is more powerful and sensitive than Odin.
Good luck

And since only thing remaining in your case is USB cable, I would say try with a different micro USB cable, even a different vendor's will do, as it did the trick for me( see the edit in OP)
I will try that. Thank you! I need to get a car charger anyway so I can get a usb adapter for the car and a usb cable and try it that way.

Stuck on cache
I'm also stuck on cache & I have tried more than one USB cable. Is there something else that I might be doing wrong? I'm completely uninclined technologically. The fact that I got my phone into download mode after 'bricking' is a feat in itself. Now what do I do when I'm stuck??

Great that you could get it to the download mode.
Follow these steps:
1. Make sure that you have the correct drivers installed for your Operating System. Preferably, download the latest drivers. You can verify when your device is recognized when connected in download mode.
2. Make sure you follow this thread for Odin flashing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028
3. If unable to flash using ODIN successfully, try with different USB ports, on same computer or a different one, say, a laptop.
4. If still unable to do so, try with different USB cables (any micro-usb should do).
In this way, you should by trying multiple alternatives at each step you should be able to eliminate the options and figure out what is really creating the problem in your flashing. Trust me my friend, this has not go anything to do with technology. just follow the steps, try alternatives and you would resolve this. Do post back on thread, if you have any queries.
My LG E970 does not have an usb connection to the computer.
I tried connecting in fastboot and ADB via command prompt, the computer does not see it.
It says slow charging when connected to a computer, 2 different computers.
I have the LG united drivers installed, reinstalled and rebooted.
I was on 4.4 and I did a restore to stock ATT 4.1.2, still no luck.
I'm out of ideas.
EDIT:
I tried LGNPST from: http://pastebin.com/bRpR3aB6
I put it into download mode and the phone shows "DOWNLOAD MODE" "DO NOT UNPLUG the device until the process is complete"
It only shows that, LGNPST does not detect anything.

I tried the different drivers, still "slow charge mode on the phone." It is suppose to pop up that USB debugging notification on the phone if it senses a computer connection. I'm using windows 7 and usb 2.0 only. Tried on different computer, still slow charging mode.

Good for you. I tried different USB cords, and it still doesn't work.
Well, if you can select USB debugging and charge the phone over USB, but the phone doesn't notice the computer then it may be a damaged USB port... I saw a thread about that on a Kindle I think... But it sounds like software isn't the problem... Good luck.

I recently had the same problem and my solution was to use the Koush Universal ADB Driver recommended by someone else. Prior to that all I could see the contents of my SD card and external SD card on the computer but always had some sort of driver issues and Windows telling me my driver wasn't installed correctly.
Using the official LG driver from the website didn't seem to help either.
OK... I know this thread has gotten old, but here's the final deal... It wasn't "exactly" the USB cables. It WAS the plug. The plug wasn't broken, just very dirty. I cleaned it out with a toothpick and now even the old cord works fine... So if you can't get the computer and phone to recognize each other, try cleaning the micro port in the phone

My issue is that I can't connect to my computer with Windows 8.1 in Download Mode. If I want to flash, I need to find a friend who is using Windows 7. Can anybody help with this?
Other details: I've tried cleaning the ports, using another cable, using other USB connections, etc. When in Download Mode, SDK can't even detect the device. I'm pretty sure it's the fact that I'm using Windows 8.1, but I don't know what to do to fix this problem.
Thanks!

Not sure why you want to put your phone in download mode
If your just trying to connect your phone via USB to mount storage (meaning getting file off the internal storage and sd card), it should work fine.
If your trying to root your phone, you need to grab the android sdk and use the adb commands.

The reason is that my phone is "bricked." I'm caught in a boot loop. The bootloader is locked on my LG phone so I can only get into Download Mode to fix stuff. But I can't fix stuff if my computer doesn't recognize my device. (I can connect fine when my phone boots up properly; just not in Download Mode). I've installed and uninstalled the LG drivers many times, so this is not the issue. What can I do with my Windows 8.1 computer to connect with my phone in Download Mode? Again, I CAN connect to Windows 7 computers, but I don't have one convenient to use, and I don't want to install lots of software on friends' computers...

That is what I would like to be able to do, but it assumes your device is recognized. One of the other posts on the same thread mentioned a similar issue but didn't mention a solution.
I've done some more exploring. I have, again, uninstalled and reinstalled the appropriate LG E970 drivers from the LG support site.
- When I am in fastboot mode, I see the attached image "01 Android.png" in device manager.
- When I am in recovery mode, I see the attached image "02 LG E-970.png" in device manager.
- When my phone fully boots up, I see the attached image "03 LGE Android MTP Device.png" in device manager. At this point, and only at this point, abd will list my phone as a device.
The problem is, I need a connection to my computer from recovery / download mode in case of a boot loop.
Can anyone help?
Hi Guys,
I can't seem to get the USB to connect to windows 8.1..
I don't have a ROM on the device, just TWRP v2.6.3.0 and looking to put on CM11...
Device Manager has:
GT-P7500
PCI Simple Communications Controller
SM Bus Controller
All with exclamation marks. I've tried installing samsung drivers 1.5.27.0, rebooted, but no luck. PC just is not recognising, or more accurately, letting me use the downloaded drivers for this device.
Trying to use adb, but no luck on three pc's, all using win 8.1 (64bit)..
Any help appreciated.

Thanks. I downloaded P7500XWLP6_P7500 (samsung firmware) and uploaded (downloaded?) to the tablet with odin and it seemed to accept it.
Rebooted the tablet, nothing. I can still go in to twrp, so I'm assuming it's not working correctly either. Should I be flashing with odin using bootloader?

tbh the drivers are very temperamental, as I have windows 10 I had to restart the Pc disabling the driver enforcement. I had the same issue as yourself but I uninstalled and reinstalled and fiddled around a bit to get the drivers to work.
Now they are installed with no issues.
I actually used the "SP_Driver_v2.0" .. found HERE
I have also noted that another driver (Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00.zip) is HERE but I think I had issues with that driver (dont know why)
The SP_Driver_v2.0 worked for me .. hope you get it sorted, i know how frustrating it is ;0)
Technically you can perfectly root without PC. But you need to have a custom recovery on your phone. To get the custom recovery, you need to flash it, using a PC.
But once you have the recovery, rooting does not require a PC, just the su binary.
If windows isn't recognizing your device at all, it might be a bad USB cable? I had issues with windows - ended up using linux.
i used SP_Driver_v.2.0 but doesn't work for me for preload, i connect my device and in device managment it is with triangle and it disconnects after 2~3 seconds and goes in offline charging. is there any preload driver for win 10 64 bit that actually works?
Same problem with my P9000.
Unable to get SPFT to see my device.
Tried hours, disabling driver signature, secure boot, many different drivers and SPFT versions.
It's frustrating. Can't update OTA to 20160810 version, FOTA installed firmware from july and tells me it's up to date.
Can i install newest firmware without PC and no custom recovery from device storage?
