Hello to everyone.
I'm having a problem with my hero. I've just updated OTA with the original 2.1 OS from 2.73.405.5 to 3.32.405.1, and I lost the USB conectivity. There is no notification coming up when I plug the USB cable. I've tried different OS and cables and nothing seems to work. The phones can be charged through USB and the PC recognize it when I turn it on holding the volume down button and it says "Fastboot USB". Does anyone knows how to fix it or go back to the previous version, given that I don't have a propper USB connectivity?
By the way, I've contacted HTC support and they told me that I had to send the phone to the repair pipeline. I bought it through ebay, and I live in Chile, so that is not a real option to me.
same problem with me ! i hav no idea what the problem is happend when i flashed a 2.1 rom aswell!!
Can you get adb working? There are guides in various places.
If adb works, you can be sure it's not the whole usb playing up.
tried flashing 3 roms, modaco, radug and now kimera... none working.
can connect in fastboot, it shows up in device manager as android 1.0
ive tried 3 different usb cables and 4 differet pcs, still there is no response on my phone !!!
using villian rom 10.0 rite now.
okay it boots up into fastboot and fastboot usb shows up on the screen in red,
BUT when i use the "adb devices" command in adb it doesnt show the device,
it is showing as android 1.0 in devices and printers (windows 7)
Try deleting all the drivers using usbdeview (google it) and let windows re-install them when you boot into the custom rom. Have you tried turning on USB-MS in AmonRA recovery?
Another thing would be to try a non-2.1 custom rom and see whether that makes a difference (would be very surprised).
I think it is not a windows driver problem, because I've tried several USB cables and PCs, even a MAC, and nothing seems to work. I've tried to go back to the original 1.5 using the HEROIMG.zip method, but wont let me and says I have a newer version so it cant go back.
I think the only resource left for me is to send it back for repair... to bad.

I would hold off for now from sending it back.
If fastboot shows it up, then there's still hope. That means the hardware is fine. I remember spending many hours helping someone with this issue over at http://hero.modaco.com (look up my posts as username pulser, and it was early 2010 IIRC).
I can't remember how it got resolved. But if you can use a goldcard, you can try and roll it back to 1.5 using HEROIMG.zip. Without goldcard, it won't work

I have the same problem. you are able to solve?
I installed the original ROM 1.5, but are not able to restore the original recovery
I have the same issue Tried on different comps and on both XP and 7...
Btw what do you mean with the goldcard? I still got my original nand from back in august 2009..
bump, anybody?..
Try a ROM reset,
Menu > Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset.
This will erase all settings on the phone to go back to default settings so please make sure all your data is backed up. (Numbers et al)
My vibrant got soft bricked yesterday, I am able to get it into download mode and I have ODIN all lines up to revert to stock, but windows 7 64bit says USB device not recognized. I have tried everything to get it to read. I have tried installing every driver i could get my hand on and i just cannot get the computer to recgnize my phone! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have the exact same problem. I updated my Vibrant using Kies Mini for windows 7 64bit. After the installation, my phone restarted, the welcome logo and S came up. After that the screen went black and it vibrated every 5 seconds. The 4 touch controls lit up if i touched them and they stayed lit.
I got into recovery mode and clear all data and format my microUSB as well but it wouldn't solve the problem.
I got into download mode but my Windows said USB device not recognized CODE 43. I tried to manually install Samsung Android USB driver but I got error code 10.
so I couldn't ODIN it back.
Can anyone help?
You're both sure you're using the right Odin (for 64)?
This is weird.
I Just tried again today and my computer recognized it instantly. I was able to flash to stock 2.1
What I did was insert my sim card in the phone today. Yesterday I didn't put my sim card in.
Another way to do it I've realized is to try to use a computer with xp on it and odin 1.7 (I believe). The newer windows vista, 7, etc. Are a lot more picky and difficult to work with sometimes.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Make sure you installed the Samsung driver that is for 64 bit.
Then, make sure you have admin rights, sometimes depending on how the computer was set up you may not be high enough on the root directory. This is especially true when one family is using the same computer and all have their own personal account/profile. If both of those things are ok and you are sure, Then:
Install this This is what i am using on my win7 64 pro i know it works. So, if this does not work then I would guess it is your users rights you haven't resolved yet.
Good luck
Yeah I tried 3 different computers. 2 with xp and the original one in my post, nothing worked. I figured i was screwed so i just went to use the insurance i had on it but they wouldn't let me because it isn't broken lost or stolen. They told me to contact tmobile. So I did. I went onto tmobile.com and chatted with someone who had me try to get it into the recovery screen that a previous poster said he was able to do but i couldn't get into it so he said we could exchange it. I gave him all the info and he sent one out.

I've done the same with my phone. Talked to a TMobile rep, they diagnosed it as a USB port issue. New phone on the way.
I had the same issue on my computer with any of my USB 2.0 ports. Thought what the hell, I'll try plugging into my USB 3.0 port and BAM! It worked.
A co-worker of mine rooted his HTC One Max on Sprint (T6spr) He tried to put it back to stock, locked the bootloader and flashed an RUU. Now, his phone has no OS on it and when attempting to run ADB commands it doesn't show up any serial numbers. I've tried several drivers and such and it's hard to get them running on Windows 8.1.
If anyone of you know how to help me fix his phone, please help!!
Use a different operating system. Different usb ports. Different cables. Is your co worker s off
So, this is after searching for around 7-8 hours for a solution. My poco f1's usb port is somehow broken. By broken, I mean it charges perfectly fine, but will not get recognized by any other device (tried 3 different pcs, both ryzen and intel).
About 4 months ago i bought my poco f1, and installed lineageOS as soon as i could. Had some hiccups, but in the end everything was fine.
About 3 days ago I ended up trying to switch to pixel experience rom, since people were enjoying that more than lineag. I ended up getting an error saying i needed firmware from MIUI 9.2.15 or something. Alright, I'll just flash miui and then flash pixel experience... right? Well, apparently this also overrides twrp recovery and makes it boot into xiaomi's useless miui recovery. This makes it so that you cant get back into twrp without a computer. Great, now I guess ill just connect it to my pc... annnd... nothing.
Enabling every usb debugging setting, changing the usb networking to file transfer, rebooting, factory resetting and repeating everything leads to a dead end. Tried 4 different usb cables with absolutely no results. Tried 3 different pcs, nothing. And after all this, the phone charges completely fine as if nothing is wrong. The device isnt rooted either, meaning i cant manually boot into twrp using their app.
My device's bootloader IS unlocked, leading to my only possible solution i can think of: achieving root somehow since the bootloader is unlocked and downloading the TWRP app and rebooting into twrp. Or i should just yeet this on ebay and get a new poco.
Help?

Maybe your usb port is broken, but if you have root you can flash twrp using apps such as flashify. Won't be much use since usb might be broken. Try going to a service center nearby to get it fixed.

Yup. Tried everything. Still not detecting
Are you using the cable that comes out of the box ?
Some third party cables don't transfer data.
(Can be the case for deteriorated cables too)
If You trying with Windows make batch file for example:
c:\usb-fix.bat
@Echo off
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\usbflags\18D1D00D0100" /v "osvc" /t REG_BINARY /d "0000" /f
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\usbflags\18D1D00D0100" /v "SkipContainerIdQuery" /t REG_BINARY /d "01000000" /f
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\usbflags\18D1D00D0100" /v "SkipBOSDescriptorQuery" /t REG_BINARY /d "01000000" /f
Start cmd as Administrator and restart PC, then will work on Windows.
I got my v30 with a small crack in the screen for cheap from a seller who has a ton of us998's and a handful of ls998's. (Edit, it looks from the seller's feedback that they are indeed frankensteining sprint phones over to unlocked versions to sell for more $$. I'm wondering if they messed something up on this one and that's why it was so cheap.)
I've installed the patched lgup from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...ssflashing-t3780969/post76510671#post76510671
I tried using the manual patch version here https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/development/us998-lg-v30-us998-us99820a040330-kdz-t3786337
I've installed the lg mobile drivers from here http://tool.lime.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=UW00120120425
I've installed bridge from the same site.
I've rebooted the pc.
I've tried four different cables, one I know worked for rooting my nexus 6p.
I've tried every usb port.
I've tried all of this on a second computer.
I've also tried setting up the phone and doing all this with usb debugging both disabled and enabled.
The main error I get in the device manager is usb "Device Descriptor Request failed" and from the system, "usb device not recognized".
Is there anything else I can do or is this phone toast?
I can get into recovery mode, but it says:
Code:
Unable to open sysfs usb node ( no such file or directory). Trying configfs failed to set driver control: no such device.
Says that twice, then says, not send the package you want to apply to the device with "adb sideload <filenale>". . .
But the computer doesn't recognize it.
Do you think putting the stock kdz on an sd card and updating that way will fix the usb or is this a hardware issue?

You mean by holding the volume up and then plugging the v30 up to a computer?
It just goes to the charging percentage screen. That's it.
Is there any way to update the device via the sd card to the stock firmware and the Recovery mode (vol dn+power) which I can get into? That error above makes me wonder if something is missing. (II Tried putting the stock kdz on an sd card but it didn't see anything there.)
I've reinstalled the LG drivers on both computers. Unless I'm doing something wrong? Installed both links above and rebooted multiple times.

Yeah, with phone turned completely off.
Squeeze the "up" volume button, while simultaneously plugging USB cord into computer.
Shouldn't make any difference but you've turned on USB debugging in Developer Options?

Maybe try Master Reset, which totally resets the device?
I'm sort of stumped.

Yep.
I've tried the master reset (confirm twice on grey screen),
The update and factory reset inside the system menu,
and the reset by going into the blue recovery screen.
There are some logs too, I just don't know how to get them off the phone.
I suspect that these ls998 can't be Frankensteined to US998 and that's why u got it for cheap. JTAG via Octoplus box (service avail on eBay for $35) is needed to restore download mode

Yeah, these dealers are mass converting using something like Octopus box, and maybe something didn't go right this time...
So, he'll need someone else with Octopus box to fix it, I guess.
Something the sprint store could do? Looks like the seller is willing to swap out, but I'm worried about the quality of the swap. They are all cracked, but hairline vs SHARDS is a big difference.
(I noticed a bunch of the us998 phones listed have ls998u stickers on the back)
I couldn't find listings for people who can restore with octoplus or octopus, what should I search for?
Uploaded two pictures of the recovery menu and what happens when I try to start adb from the phone.
Also, when I run the graphics test, it fails, tries to install something, then fails at that. I took a video of that and the entire log if anyone is curious.

We don't have OTA files for these LS998 do we?
If so, running it should restore download mode. Or if already on the latest OS version, force installing it with LGUP FOTA mode, as described in the post linked below.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78575561&postcount=1215
The OTA file in there is for H932 (and outdated anyway) but the procedure is the same. You'd need to find an OTA file for your LS998. Not a file created by a Dev, but an OTA Update zip captured by someone on the phone or with LG Bridge. And again, I'm not sure we have those for LS998.

I've reinstalled bridge on both computers. On my desktop it asked me to update my usb driver.
ps I just noticed on the packaging manifest that it says the usb port isn't working, but it's scratched out lol. Mistake on their part.
I'm still guessing it was a bad jtag that screwed up some of the partitions.

here are the logs, You'll have to slowmo it and pause as necessary. (Didn't include the dmsgs, but I could if anyone wants to see them, it will just take a while.)
