I may have accidentally posted this in mods and stuff. But ive been looking for a way to root this phone for ages now and cant find one for the life of me. I want to install viper4android to get a little bit better quality out of the device speakers, but i cant find any way to root the phone. If someone can point me in the right direction it would be much appretiated
I don't know if we can root the G8/G8S/G8X, but me and some other persons have already take a look on that right here :

To not open yet another topic- has anyone managed to root this thing? There seems to be no TWRP or CWM, I found the firmware as KDZ but I am unable so far to extract the boot.img since no tool I found seems to work with that version of a KDZ. There is of course the usual "tools" like https://tunesgo.wondershare.com but I am absolutely unsure if this tool is even working and if so how trustworthy it is.
You can root the (European) LG8x with an official "unlock code" by LG Developers. BUT there is no TWRP or a custom rom. You may try GSI-Roms. I doubt, that canadian or US LG G8x can be rooted at all.

Hey guys I just upgraded from gingerbread to official german 4.12 jellybean
I9100XWLSD_I9100XXLS8_I9100DBTLS7_HOME.tar.md5
via odin.
The installation went fine but now the phone got sim locked and it asks for a network code. I saw a couple of Galaxy S sim unlock apps on the playstore but none of them work (except for the one which has the [root] prefix in it which I haven't tried since the phone isn't rooted). So I was wondering how can I unlock it? Thx in advance guys

afaik you need root to unlock it.
It's rooting time.
Ok but what method should I use? There seem to be so many around I'm getting kinda confused. As far as I can tell the custom kernel method seems to be the easiest way to get it right? And how do I know which kernel should I use?

I've rooted my own gt-i9305 with a prerooted rom with odin so is there something like that for the s2, and if there isn't what's the easiest way to get root on the s2 and what should I do after that?

If you don't root it, you won't unlock it and well, he's not gonna be able to use it as a phone.
Flash a custom kernel or flash cwm + su + busybox

That thread is from july 2012, jb rolled out on january officially.
Has anyone tried to get send_command.exe working with their verizonV10. Theres a method that the G4 users use where they load LG Up with the current firmware and then pull the plug to leave open the com port for flashing a custom stock system.img to the phone.
Any feedback on this would be great!

So do they use this to bypass the bootloader? Because that's the problem with this phone on 6.0. I'd like to read more about this. Can you provide a link?

Hi, I Have an LG G Vista 2 that i am desperately looking to root. I feel that it has a lot of potential when it comes to specs for its price, but has a huge disadvantage because bloatware and cpu caps are slowing it down. IT would be really nice if someone could point me into the right direction (or even help root it and get cyanogenmod 13/14?!?). FWI on the XDA/ XDA Labs app when it selects "MY Device" it automatically chooses the LG G Vista 2 but then randomly swiches to the LG G Flex 2. I try to change my device but there is no option for it.
Thanks in advance,

The stock ROM is already installed on the device. Unless you are talking about CM/LOS based ROMs. Sadly, no one has been able to root or unlock the bootloader on this device.

You can't unlock the bootloader on this device, therefore we are left to exploits.
Out of curiosity I went and check device certification status in playstore and see this.
I'm on the pie stock version, locked bootloader not rooted (never tinkered with this device yet)
Is it me or anyone as a similar situation?

Thanks Guys,
its not really a problem for me, was more surprised and wondered if it was just me or not.
Dont think Google would appreciate LG release a SW to user without approval, thats for sure not in the GMS contract (i would know I work at another OEM using Android)
@ChazzMatt, need my phone stock for now but have bookmarked your guide to root and will be doing that shortly

Install magisk (but I guess you lready have since you're rooted) then there should be an add on for that.
Go have a look at the magisk forum section (it's not device specific) for the latest info. Have not done that recently so can't recommend a specific version
Fixed it xD
I'm trying to root a Samsung G7.
Here is some info on it:
Model: SM-G930A
Android Version: 6.0.1
Build#: MMB29M.G930AUCS4APK1
I am new to rooting and messing with phones and stuff so I've been using a lot of YouTube and xda forums to try and figure out how to root this phone.
I've tried all the one click roots from this list, https://www.xda-developers.com/best-one-click-root-2018/
After that, I started looking at tutorials on YouTube that used a computer and USB to root a phone. From there, I learned that Odin is a thing and people use it. So I tried that out, but I couldn't find the right boot.img for my specific model of phone. The thing is, I don't know what a boot.img is or if that's even what I need.
I am currently trying out this tutorial online: https://dottech.org/199442/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s7-sm-g930a-on-android-6-0-1-marshmallow/
I googled engboot samsung g7 (it was mentioned in the online tutorial I am currently using) and found this xda link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/engboot-s7-s7-edge-qualcomm-exynos-t3531104
Oh, and I've already setup ADB and figured out how to get into downloading mode and recovery mode.
That's where I am on my journey to rooting my Samsung G7.
I'm in need of much assistance though.

I have not figured out how to update the phone.
When you say update, do you mean the Android version or the model (ex. SM-G930A)
Also, the link you sent me, is that a link to change your phones version or root the phone?
I downloaded all the files it asked me to, but in the rooting instructions it wants me to flash a .tar file that I didn't get from the downloads it linked.
