I am running Android 10 on GP 3aXL. I have two Devices A (GP 3aXL) and B (S5) connected via Wi-Fi direct. On device A, i have a proxy server (Every Proxy) running. I want to share my internet connection with device B. When i scan wifi on device B, I see SSID with the name of the remembered group on device A. I try to connect and it is asking me for the password. Where is this password info located? I have searched many threads here on XDA and other places, but unable to get this info. Please help. So I just got my touchpad today, and was made aware that it doesn't support ad-hoc networks, which I use somewhat frequently to share a wired connection via my laptop. I just bypassed it by using my phone as a hotspot (android creates infrastructure), but after a little searching I found a nice little video on youtube about how to create an infrastructure network from Windows 7.

For those of you that can't/won't go to youtube, the general gist of it is that you need an unused wifi network adapter and an internet connection. You then set up the network by running as administrator:

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=testwifi key="123456789012"
Then you share the internet connection with the (maybe new) Microsoft virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter. Now you're ready to start it with:

And you can check its status via:

dorsai3d, thanks for the information. I had been trying to use my Sprint TP2 as a wifi router, and was getting really frustrated. If this would have worked, it would have been awesome.
So what I am trying to do is use USB to theter to my Windows 7 64bit laptop, and use the Wireless adapter on the laptop in infructure mode to theter to Touchpad.
When I run the
"netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=testwifi key="123456789012" command, it runs fine (as admin).

No virtual adapters were created, like in the video, nor was there one to begin with.
So I am guessing that is the crux of my problem
I use Ad-hoc mode quite often, I have Intel 4965AGN for my wifi adapter on this laptop.
and I use my 3G on the Touch Pro 2 at my primary internet at home
Anybody running into similar issue, or might know whats going on. Will appreciate any help, thanks.

As this is a relatively new feature, you may need to reinstall/update the drivers for your current wifi adapter. I'm not a big networking person, so I'm afraid I won't be too terribly much help, but maybe we can get this all headed in the right direction. I'm afraid it looks like there won't be a solution for getting windows mobile to create an infrastructure hotspot if it's one of the new selling points in Windows 7.
For reference, I'm using the Intel WiFi link 1000 BGN and the virtualized adapter was already there for me.
Yup, driver issue. Looks like I might have to buy a second wireless nic that supports this feature. Just knowing that this is possible it a great start
now to find a cheap usb wifi nic that dose support this. I have a Intel 5300AGN on my work laptop, I think that is supported.

I made the infrastracture Wi-Fi with windows 7 and it works perfectly with my Android S3 phone and tablet but when I try to connect my Iphone with it....My lan connection frezees and I am unable to access internet at all .....
Then I have to disconnect my Router and restart it...
I surfed and I guess I have o connect to the hotspot through VPN.....But I dont know the details to fill in....
The Iphone 4s ask the following details for VPN connection

I'm new to this site so I hope I'm posting in the right area. I was enjoying using my non-rooted G Tablet at work but the recently switched to a new network and my G Tablet can't even SEE it. I've just now wandered around the whole building to no avail. I know it is available and working because the students near me are using their laptops, smart phones, and tablets--and their only option for wi-fi is the school's one network.
They don't have an Android guide available, but they do have information for how to get connected using Windows devices:
Enter the SSID
Change Network authentication to: WPA2
Change Data Encryption to: AES
Click on Authentication Tab
Change EAP type to: Protected EAP
Uncheck Authenticate as computer when computer information is available
Select Authentication Method: Secured Password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)
Uncheck automatically use my windows Logon name and password.
Now, obviously most of these things are not options on the G Tablet (at least not where I know to find them) and I don't know if they are helpful to solving this but I thought I'd include the info. I did try manually adding a new Wi Fi network. I wrote in the SSID, and chose "WPA/WPA2 PSK" option. But then it asked for a password which is not necessary in the guides. I will eventually log on using my work user name and password, but I can't get to that screen (and just out of frustration I did try entering my work password just to see if anything happened--it didn't).
I realize you can't know every setting my work place uses but I hope that's enough to figure out what's wrong. Is there something the G Tablet just doesn't support with the new network? If I rooted, could that help? I feel like the problem has to be my G Tablet since everyone else has working internet. I mainly bought the G Tablet to use here at work for the sites they've blocked. I'll survive without it but I'd really like to get some use out of my device!
Wow, not one helpful comment? Well IT finally got back to me and the woman thinks that my tablet doesn't support WPA2-Enterprise. Is this something I could change with rooting? And if so, which ROM or whatever should I use?

Not sure if these show up on Froyo roms but I'm on GTab Comb v3.3 (Honeycomb).
Try this:
Go to WIFI settings, select add WIFI Network, type in the SSID, for Security select 802.1x EAP, for EAP method select PEAP,for Phase 2 select MSCHAPv2.

Hi. I've got a Nexus 7 with Google Chrome, when I try to login to any of the hardware on my network by inputting the local IP number I get '404 Access denied' with no option to input the necessary username & password. I'm assuming there must be some way of logging in to the likes of my router, can somebody tell me how I can login to such devices. TIA - Andy.
Edit: Bugger! It seems to work today. I think that the resource I was trying last night won't let you login over it's own WiFi connection, when I try via ethernet or over another WiFi connection I get an authentication panel. Must be a security restriction.

it seems, that the wifi tethering option is not available.
I want to amplify/extent the wifi signal I am getting from my router via my phone throughout my house. I could get a wifi repeater for 20dollars but I am sure I can do this with this device already without any 3 part apps like Sharenet ( which caps your data transmission without paying for it).
In some videos I find the wifi tethering option available in the note 8 for example.
I have the MIUI version 11.0.1. and the android patch version from 2020-4-1 and I have the developer mode enabled.

Hi,
I use my Redmi Note 9s(global)/9 Pro(India), code name curtana, with an older Huawei router HG556a running openWRT. I use the hotspot to connect the devices at the LAN ports (PC & Linux box for the TV) to the internet.
1. Go to Settings/Portable hotspot turn on the hotspot and 'click' on "Set up portable hotspot".
2. In that window at the top the SSID is listed and just below the password, which you need for the setup at your router.
3. For a openWRT router: open in a browser the router page, log in, click on Network/WiFi and click on scan.
4. A new page will open listing all available WiFi networks, go to the one with the name of the SSID of step 2. and click on the button "Join Network".
5. In the next screen you have to enter the password from above, name the interface and finish that setup page.
6. In the next page you have to choose in "Interface Configuration/General Setup" the network and check in addition to the wireless interface the LAN.
Then you have the internet in your LAN ?
I don't know how to do it with the stock routerFW. Further I don't know if the Redmi Note 9 Pro (global) [joyeuse] has the same menus as the [curtana].

I am currently a patient at an acute care facility and I use the public Wi-Fi here. Recently, changes were made to the Wi-Fi here, I understand that a new router was installed. Since then, I have been trying to access the Wi-Fi with the correct password, but I get a message that sign in is required and when I click it, I am forwarded to a page that does not load. If I select the menu option to use network as is, I seem to be connected but have no access.
In the past, when accessing this Wi-Fi, I was forwarded to a web page where I had to click a button, and then got access. That page has been gone for quite some time now and the Wi-Fi connected without any issues
Others accessing the Wi-Fi do not seem to have this issue. I tried numerous things to fix this issue, such as deleting the Wi-Fi connection and re-enabling it and resetting the network connection. The only thing that I found that resolves this issue is turning off the randomization of the MAC address and setting it to use the phone Mac address.
For privacy reasons, I would prefer to use the randomized MAC address. If for some reason my phone is being blocked on this network, which is the only thing I can think of, in my limited knowledge of how this works, it would seem my phone Mac address would it be blocked but not a randomized MAC address, because it changes.
My old Galaxy S4 running CyanogenMod Android 6 connects to the Wi-Fi fine, but I don't believe the MAC address is randomized on Android 6, if this is the reason, though this seems unlikely to me as every newer phone would have an issue, since they randomize the MAC address by default
Can anyone supply me any info on this?

If the randomized MAC address ( e.g. 32:8c:27:26:72:34 ) doesn't contain the original OEM code in its first 6 hex-numbers you might face a lot of authentication issue.

Thanks for your reply. The phone is doing the randomizing as a function of Android and I would have to assume that it would maintain the original OEM code in its first six hex-numbers if this is required (and I have read about that issue). I never had this issue until the new router was installed and I am unaware of anyone else having an issue.
