Amazfit GTR 47mm problem with barometer and altimeter - Amazfit

Hi to all,
I've had the Amazfit GTR 47mm for four months. From the beginning I have a problem with the pressure gauge and altimeter accuracy. The difference from the weather station values is from 40 to 90hPa and 50 to 200m.
I have a question, is there an application or procedure to calibrate a pressure sensor?
I'm sorry for my bad English

Pace Barometer or GPS ?

The barometer on my Pace is stuck at the same reading. I have tried gently blowing in the hole, cleaning it etc. I also tried a factory reset.
But the altitude is changing. So is altitude determined by GPS or the Barometer ?
Hi
The elevation is measure using the barometer and not by GPS.
Seems your barometer faulty that not reading any elevation. Same time, did your battery life span normal as it in stanby mode (leaving untouch on table) using 10% over 24 hours (plus minus)?
Did you wear it during shower or swimming. Thia watch is only resistance to water splash in small quantities.
Probably you could explain the last successful of elevation reading and then become faulty of the activities you did.

I am aware of this fault & my battery seems fine. I have never got the watch wet & it's only a few weeks old .
The barometer is permanently at 1024 but the altitude does change.

This worked Many thanks
Now if only someone made a simple up down indicator to track rises & falls in air pressure

For some activities you can enable the data fields: altitude gain and altitude drop, may help.

Thanks. There is an app that puts pressure changes on a graph but it's continuous so collect huge amounts of data. I would of thought that the dev could easily add interval measuring.
It's a waste to have a barometer that has a limited use. It could be like the barometer on a Suunto watch.

Stratos poor Heart Rate Measure?

I bought a Stratos to replace my amazfit bip and playing soccer, my stratos show around 185 bpm. It's impossible such reading. My old bip never showed more than 150 bpm (using treadmill as activity).
Is this sensor so bad? Can be improved in future updates?
As test I compared it to my fitbit and garmin and al readings are quite the same in workout and rest/sleep.
If I have a sprint or Hiit training my heart rate can spike to 190bpm. So 185 is possible depending on your workout.
Make sure your watch has the latest firmware, reset its data (factory reset then do not restore old data when pairing again) and use continuous HR for at least 24h and it should works a little better. Unfortunately the PPG sensor used in both Pace and Stratos isn't the best one around...
Hi Vogal , I'm experiencing the same as you.
I had a Bip for a year and a half. In the beginning HR was always 20 beats too low. If I wore in on the inside of my wrist, it was almost perfect.
I recieved my Stratos yesterday, it updated itself 3 times, even to the latest 2.3.8 that was released yesterday. I unpaired, rebooted, repaired, but didn't factory reset. HR is ALSO 20-30 beats to high. When standing still, measurement is perfect. But when moving, it's awful. On both watches.
Did you do a factory reset? Did it help?
My stratos HR works fine in spinning and elliptical machine. I compared it with another hr monitor with chest strap and both show very similar values. The problem is in outdoor activity like MTB. Here the stratos seems not realize about peaks of exercise and It always shows moderate values below 150 when the chest strap gives me values over 165. I tried tighting it more and different positions on my wrist but without any read improvement.
People, Pace/Stratos/Verge use a PPG sensor, it will never be accurate if you move your wrist/arm a lot, it is specially true when riding a bike... If HR accuracy is needed, use an external HR band.
The problem isnt the Stratos

The problem isnt the Stratos, its de Bip. I had one and never gave me the same value of the HR mesure of the running machine, also I tried with an Apple watch in other wirst and both, the running machine (also the eliptical) and the apple show me the same HR but the Bip was allways 30-40 beats lower

Amazfit Bip Barometer Defective?

I bought Amazfit Bip two days ago, but barometer is only showing very low hPa (948.3-951.5) although the weather is clear and sunny (30 Celsius), is this normal or is this sensor defective?
Thank you for your help!

Did you check if it measures differences in air pressure correctly? Sometimes the body heat from your wrist can throw off the sensor as well.
I've noticed that the baseline elevation stats on my unit are off by around 30 meters, but the relative elevation stats are usually accurate.
Ideally there should be an option for manual recalibration but I doubt that Amazfit will ever add such feature, especially now when the device is already a few years old.
Your barometer is just fine. I had the same issue ( which was infact not an issue).

Stratos 3 GPS Accuracy

Hi,
I have a Stratos 3 and was expecting a better GPS Accuracy.
Have recently updated it to 4.2.2.1 and it improved but it still takes take some time to lock signal.
Also, after a few experiences, I have noticed that if you start the activity immediately after locking signal the first few minutes will be inaccurate and it is better to wait a few minutes.
Any experiences from anyone else?
What pair are you using?

Same here - I had the first Stratos and finding GPS signal was quite a bit faster than on the new one. Hope they'll do something to improve it. Though, considering what have they done with the Amazfit app, I'm not very optimistic...

I have tried GPS + GLONASS and GPS + Galileu so far.
Galileu was accurate after the first 5 minutes only.
i'm expecting the same with my Stratos 3: GPS+ Galileo if start activity immediatly after GPS Fix it needs some minutes more to be accruate (5 min) but after it's perfect (i'm cycling in forest)
I did not try GPS+GLONASS for the moment will do it next time to see if it's better for initial fix and if tracking accruacy is as good as GALILEO
Gps and heart sensor
Hi, I sold my gtr because gps didnt work, I thinking I a Stratos 3, What Is it The heart sensor accuracy?

the HR sensor is exactly the same so you know it!
Tks for reply... I think that we need to considering the sw factor as well....
Sad to hear that, I'm using a Pace and thought Stratos 3 as a improvement over GPS accuracy and Heart rate.
Pace is a mixed bag, sometimes it's very good but, even in open areas, sometimes the accuracy show my position on the other side of the street.
Often I experience inaccurate position on the first minutes also.
Let's hope for a software update to increase reliability.
Stratos 3 uses the new HR sensor used in both Verge and GTR/GTS, so it should behave the same. It's a bit bigger and should work better than the ones from Pace and the original Stratos, as it does if I compare my Verge with them. Just don't expect it to be perfect, as any other PPG (optical) sensor.
The same issue with Pace and Stratos (v1). You should always wait 2-5 minutes at the green Go screen before starting activity recording. Also, with Pace, I used to run with Airplane mode for better accuracy, but it looks like in current versions it makes no difference (better accuracy in both cases than early). That way you can avoid GPS inaccuracy. My Stratos 3 is on the way.
Are you on latest firmware? I had mine for a week and updated it the first day. GPS is very good and fixes fast (I returned the GTR because of the GPS being so bad). Maybe your issue could be location related? Like AGPS data related?
@Paxy
Weird. I'm a new Stratos 3 user.
I have no accuracy issue with the GPS (Glonass) and the fix is done in less than 30 sec. Unlike the GTR, I sent back whose GPS was a deep sh.t.
I made 8 cycle workout and it worked very well. I leave near Paris there is buildings (not too high) around me during my
sessions and the recorded track is very good.

Can you, please, post an example, I'm thinking on ditching the GTR and considering a Stratos 3(which should actually be 2, because the first one was called Pace)?
Thanks!

Hi here is 2 run one with GTR and one with Stratos, there is NO comparison.
In orange, the trace recorded by both watch and under you'll find the covered distance which totally approximate on the GTR as most of the run was not receorded.

Thanks for taking the time to post these.
Seems pretty accurate. Have you checked through google maps to see if the distance is accurate? Is this the route: https://www.google.ro/maps/dir/48.8...0x47e67b314410fbbb:0x21dd71e67173a3e0!1m0!3e1 ?
@winni21 That's how my GTR cuts corners as well. Stratos 3 seems very good.
Now I'm pretty sure the GTR has faulty hardware for GPS (frame used as shared antenna with bluetooth), since they both have the same gps chipset and will never get fixed through software update.

Compared to Google Maps, the given distance by the Stratos is pretty accurate as I have 9.53km for stratos and 9.6 for GMAPS.
But on my road I have to go in a tunnel for few meters and the GPS signal is lost at this time. On this section the Stratos show a straight line and google map a nice curve. The curve is around 200m, so this part explain partially the 70m missing on the Stratos.

You are wrong. There is the Pace and there is Stratos (in China called SportWatch 2). There is no Stratos2 and Pace is not Stratos1.
My Stratos3 just arrived. It has fast GPS fix, but haven't tested accuracy yet.
I will compare it's accuracy against Pace soon.
BTW. Huami declares only Pace, Stratos and Stratos3 as sport watches. GTR,GTS,Verge etc are just smart watches without GPS in the focus of development.
There is also Stratos+ on Amazfit official web. The problem with the naming comes from resellers giving different names like Startos 2S or Pace 2.
But indeed there are 3 generations of the Amazfit Sports watch (Pace, Stratos/Stratos+ and Startos 3)

SpO2 for GTR 42mm

According to this posts here https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/amazfit/spo2-amazfit-pace-t4069147
We could measure level of spo2 with ppg sensors.
My amazfit gtr 42mm have double leds on the back so in theory it could measure level of spo2. Is that true?
Thank you for your time and help.
