It may fix compatibility with some apps that need Google Play Services to work

Please, take a look to uninstall commands (rm) as they don't work at all (adb shell rm).

If you have the HTC Sync - it will not work!
For stable operations, leave only the driver, the program should be removed.

The program was tried and did not work on the rom 2.6.2.0
