Hi!
This is my first post and please excuse my english but I'm Italian.
I have a great deal: I must buy a new phone but don't want to spend much.
I like Htc 740 but choosing between these 3 phones.
Htc S740 - Samsung I200 and Nokia e75. Which is the best buy?
The Htc is on offer 199 euro- I220 on 86 euro and e75 more than 300 euro.
I actually have a samsung F480 but want a keyboard and device with OS.
My major needs are for navigation a sms. My problem is that I don't see very well and I think the screen of these devices are too small, but can't afford devices with major screens. (Waiting for HTC Pro2 to be affordable).
Thank everyone who can help me decide.
Ι don't know about the Samsung but the Nokia is a pretty good mobile. It all depends on what you want from a mobile.
If you have experience with Windows Mobile and you like tweaking and searching things then it's the HTC for you. If you want simpler things you may choose the Nokia.
Before buying the HTC, I took a look at E75. It's decent, but I didn't like its looks and I wanted the freedom that the Windows offer (along with their problems).

Thanks.
Today I ordered the Rose. Cross my fingers.
People here are very friendly and help you a lot with questions. Don't worry...
S740 is a very powerful device, it's like Diamond with, of course, a smaller screen. I use it with route66 mostly in landscape mode and to write very long texts, plus like a great agenda (everything with third part software). You only have to remember it's a real smartphone so, to use every latent power you need to install softwares and to customize it.
PS.: Il prezzo oggi e' moolto interessante!
So, elandel, did you get the Rose? How do you like it?

it depends whether u like android or windows phone. if i remember right there is a way to install android on a windows phone..
Few tips:
1. Compare Cost first
2. Compare features next
3. See what features you will use the most
Finally my advise: Adobe Flash is not supported on Galaxy Ace so if you are fond of Adobe stuff and Flash games etc. then this phone is certainly not for you.
I am using Galaxy Ace from last 4 months and installed several kinds of ROMs in last 2-3 months. Phone is really good except Adobe Flash issue.
You can see a comparison of the two here in GSMArena:

Just wait for the holiday season more cool phones with better processor and better performance are coming in the market near you,
If you decide you want a android phone then go for the new galaxy phones which are to be launched.

lol'ed really hard when i saw ace's standby time that stated there
Code:
26,7 days
its magical if my ace can even last for two days
Specwise i'd go for the windows phone but ace looks better and the battery seem to be better as well. The only problem I'm having with ace now is the low memory capacity.
First of all i am sorry, i think i did not post it in the right place...but then again i couldn’t find any better place...
Well topic tells it all i am really confused between the two phones which one should i get...
Price of both phones is the max my wallet will allow me to go for
In India Nokia Lumia 710 is available for 18k~350USD
And as Samsung reduced the galaxy r price its around 20k~390USD
What i do with a phone is
1) Text a lot...i mean seriously a lot
2) Would like to play good quality H.D games
3) Decent camera....this is fulfilled by both of them so no issue here
4) A nice screen though Lumia 710 has a bit smaller than galaxy r but then that compromise i can make
What’s confusing me is that
with Nokia Lumia 710 i get a very nice ui and i personally like its interface very much one of the main reason for going for this phone and then the sns and single inbox thing just appeals me.... though am not sure how well it handle H.D games and i know there is no front facing camera but i think i will hardly miss it cause not once i have made a video call
what appealed me in Samsung galaxy r is the dual core 1 ghz cpu...with NVidia tegra2 and the big screen size that’s the only thing that i like about it rather am not sure if i should go for Samsung or not my past experience with Samsung were not so good....also i personally (remember this just my opinion) hate the android ui as such and specially with the touch wiz of Samsung’s....even as an OS i don’t know why but it feels kinda cheap
Had there a phone in same price with spec as of galaxy r with mango as OS there would have been no doubt for me
So what i wanna know will Lumia 710 compete with performance of dual core cpu of galaxy r???
In H.D gaming and all that
Any help will be greatly be appreciated
p.s will Lumia 710 be eligible for updates like Apollo or winpho 8....too soon to ask but still....
Sliding about the OS, the Lumia will be faster than the Galaxy R, but as you mention gaming, the Galaxy R will be a better choice, it's raw power will come through there, and there are a lot more games for Android than there are for WP.
For what it's worth, Android has a combined inbox as well.
thank you for your reply by "sliding about OS" you meant browsing through menus right???
well i am not particularly concerned about the number of games currently present.....windows phone is rather a new platform lets give it time and am sure it will get atleast all the big titles in future...
now seriously considering galaxy r....thanks again
Yeah pretty much, and web browsing, it's fast at that too.
well as i read through the reviews by different source all say lumia or windows phone par se is optmized enough for all tasks and i heard browsing is pretty good in both of them aint it??

I purchased the 710 here in the USA on Thursday. It is not my primary phone. I bought it for 1 reason. I've never had a nokia before, and I saw the 900 at CES.
With that said, the 710 is a solid little phone. Battery life has been good. Browsing is fast. Windows phone is easy to get used to. Apps are easy to download. I've spent the last 7 months with various android phones...key here is the word various. Too many phones, too many versions of the os, too many bugs, too many excuses. Windows phone hardware is catching up. The os is already on track.
For me the 710 was very cheap, 19 USD. I would have paid the full price.
Hi guys,
I'm an owner of a lg optimus 3D and i hate it!
So i'm thinking about lumia 800...
But what will i lose from android to Windows phone?
I read about battery problems , ad they bene fixed with update?
Are custom roms usefull?
I had never used zune, can i copy my music folder or its 's horrible like itunes?
Please, if lyou love/hate this phone tell me why so i can choose
Thanks a lot
It's not a bad device, but WP is still in the early stage (in comparison to Android and iOS).
If you can wait, I would recommend you to wait for WP8.
Custom roms are useful, but it's not as easy on Android.
I like flashing roms on my HTC Desire HD, but I've never done that on my Lumia, because I want to keep my data, like pictures and recorded video in my camera.
There's no way to put it back again after flashing a new rom or restoring/resetting your device.
I really like this phone, but I wouldn't recommend you to do the switch right now. Just save some money and get a WP8 device from Nokia as soon as it comes out, it will be much more worth your money. Just hold on for a few months (hopefully really few) and you won't have regrets. Otherwise if you really can't wait you can always get a Samsung Omnia W aka Focus Flash: it really costs a few bucks and offers similar hardware, not to mention the removable battery, which also lasts longer. Oh, and it has a ffc too. It's easy to unlock, so you won't have issues getting Nokia Drive to work on the device, which is a big plus.

I forgot to tell that I don't wanna buy itbut there's a guy who wanna have an exchange with my p920 by lg,
It could be a nice thing?
Can you guys tell me more about battery plz?
Well, if you don't have to add money on top I guess it's a decent deal. As to battery life I get more or less what I used to get from my GS2, 18 hours average, with average usage...

Should I or shouldn't I
I quite fancy one of these too, but don't think I can wait for a month or three to get one with the no 8 attached. Had a look at the forums, but couldn't see - If I go on a contract, is it possible to unlock the thing? Is that a dodgy idea? should this be a separate thread?
I will say ,go for it.I own an iphone4s,since 6 months, I started looking for a change.Got a lumia 710,its very stable, and os is refreshingly new.I do love NOKIA MUSIC bundled (got 1 year free subscription).

maybe you want to change your lg 3d for lumia 800? i have one, used, in normal condition with no warranty, working offcourse, and with qualcomm bootloader?
pm me if you want to.
yes
WindowsPhone turned out to be good. My priorities are listed as follows in the ascending order:
Meego
Android
Windows
iOs
I dont like being leashed to something, Meego & Android are great. Android has certain inconsistencies wrt looks. The WindowsPhone is better, in that area. The best thing about WindowsPhone is the LiveTiles. It seemed boring & untoughtful in the beginning, then it all made perfect sense after using it for sometime. Its touch is like an 'i' device. But everything is faster & more accessible.
I used to Flash tons of roms on Android. Had a Galaxy Nexus & a SE Arc. Now on WindowsPhone Lumia 710. Loving it.
Hello guys , I am a android user and im using the galaxy y .. which has a small screen and low specs.. I wanted to upgrade to a smartphone which will be reliable for basic tasks: Fb / Wikipedia browsing , Whatsapp , Music and Videos.. So i saw the nokia lumia510 and i loved its display.. dispite people saying its specs r slow.. I still wanna knw frm expert windows users, Is it really bad or is the performance decent enuf to run whatsapp and videos?
You can't compare windows phone like android phones by specs.
Windows phone will work more smooth and fluid on any available configuration compared to android because it is much more optimized.
But better try to get Lumia520 which runs WP8 if the price difference isn't too big because Lumia510 really is very old and it won't get any updates in the future and although the OS would run fine, unoptimized apps would lag.

I have never used a windows phone and am curious as to the creative aspects.. as in are they customizable with something similar to roms, and can you unlock/root them or some sort of equivalent... I saw a lumia 710 for 30 bucks on craigslist I was thinking of picking up for training purposes however I think it runs 7 not 8 so I dunno I have to post more on here so this is as good a question as any thanks ahead of time

Bump... Talking about devices...
Are there any foreseeable limitations on the up-and-coming latest and greatest devices? When I bought my galaxy S5, I hadn't anticipated it ever being a developer non friendly device as it is today... Or am I missing something. I'm in at&t network with it... It's expected glitchy and I wanted root & custom Rom, but I guess developers gave up on it...
So now, what are the best options for a promising device?
