sadly. is there any other way to keep phone safe?

Kenzo/Kate ROMs that support hardware encryption
I tested the following roms and can confirm that full hardware encryption is working with them.
Android 7.1
LineageOS 14.1 - Discontinued - Last unofficial build from 07-2019
Android 8.1
LineageOS 15.1 - Discontinued
CarbonRom 6.1 - Discontinued - Last official build from 12-2019
I'm currently thinking about building CarbonRom 6.1 myself with latest Google security patches - If I do so I will share the builds in this forum. But maybe I will switch to another device after 4 good years. I cannot and will not use a rom without encryption.

I don't think CR has been discontinued, it's just that builds failed for the past couple of months for some reason.

Test some roms, android 9 support encryption, android 10 not.

Are you sure about that?
The only post about how to use hardware encryption on Android 9 @ Kenzo is the following. He writes that you have to use MIUI first to encrypt before flashing Android 9....

It works just fine! I used your ROM, Opengapps pico and M kernel! My /data parition didn't get corrupted after reboot either (happened with other LP roms :/). Feels very fast! My only request is that you add the AOSP Lolipop Music player. Apart from that, awesome ROM! Very happy

I will work on adding the music player in a future update glad it worked for you.
Layers also works perfectly! Playing music while installing apps and browsing is also flawless. I like the lower DPI (things are smaller so screen seems bigger) like other Slimroms. Amazing ROM. The browser is also very fast.
yea, works great thanks for that! will give more feedback in the next days (if neccessary).
Will there be a SlimMarsh update?
for those more experimental guys, the plain kernel of desolation rom also works on this rom. you can grab it here

Any Android Go ROMs available for i9100?

Are there any Android Go ROMs available / underdevelopment for i9100? My phone has gone extremely slow and I think only something like Android Go could revive the old work horse.
Thanks for your time.
The unofficial LineageOS 15.1 builds by rINanDO (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/development-derivatives/rom-lineageos-15-0-t3674567) are the first such ROMs currently, although, as of right now, it is in WIP phase, and although it is stable enough not to crash every few moments, a lot of things may be broken or not work at all.
I was wondering too. Thank you for the answer. I hope in 6months the bugs will be removed.

By nature, all Android Go builds are based on full grown Android 8.1, as they are built the same way, from the same source code, but the Android Go builds have an additional build flag attached at the very end.
So yes, they are based on Android Go, which in turn is based on Android 8.1.
and the flag is set !

Stable custom rom for redmi note 4 sd

Hello,
I have redmi note 4 3GB variant, rooted with miui 9.5.11.0
I wanted to try out a stable custom rom, I'm leaning towards resurrection rom and lineage os, can you guys tell me which versions of those are stable enough for me to try?
And, what is the most hassle free and simplest way to back up and restore data.
In other words, how to easily switch from stock rom to custom rom (or vice versa) without loosing user data?
Los is good but if u are fan of customisation Then RR is good also Aosp Extended is good option, u can restore your old backup and its very easy just make backup of your current rom and flash the custom rom.

It doesn't get more stable than LineageOS.
But the price you pay is that there aren't any customizations or features. Currently it's basically pure Android
I'm using Miracle droid for 6 months now since i dont need treble at the moment or until magisk has official treble support.
Many customization option and no bug so far.

I prefer customization, not pure android.
At least for me, Miracle has better batter life. i love RR since Galaxy S2
oh by the way RR nougat is the best battery life so far.
I use RR Luis ROM, 5..8.5 version, which is for Nougat. Battery life is excellent, lots of customizations, and very stable.
Try the Lineage Extended by Alexey. Its not here in XDA, but search Alexey711 in androidfilehost. Thats the perefect version of Lineage based ROM I've found. Lots of customization plus regular updates.
Alexey build in lineage is the best , he update daily I think:silly: almost all customization in resurrection are available in it
If you want to try resurrection go for endless, his battery life is outstanding, he also update with useful features

LineageOS eXtended is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8 (oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS eXtended is based on LineageOS and the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS eXtended does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS eXtended is available in the LineageOS eXtended Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

how many builds of Android Pie are out for the OPX?

How many builds of pir are there? can't any of them be installed permanently or are they all still alpha that will need reinstalled after official launch? i want to upgrade from the original OPX android to to pie for daily use. i also want magisks if that's not all supper outdated now too.
LOS 16 is really stable IMO and the dev announced it xill be the one supported in top priority.
There is no evidence that there will be "official" custom Rom on pie for OPX.
so the custom pie roms will not get updates from google?

?? I don't understand your question.
Google doesn't do anything about custom roms.
There is just one dev that worked on some custom roms on Pie (Pixel experience, AOSP and LOS). He just tond that he will put the priority on the LOS one. Note that it's marked as LOS 16 unofficial as he builds it itself, not in the LOS offcial roaster.
Onyx won't even be in the 15.1 roaster as it has just been ejected from official 14.1 roaster.

when Debian gets updates so does ubuntu and kubuntu and lubuntu and xubuntu. custom rom or not it IS still google android pie, so when vulnerability is found a update is pushed out for pie and all pie devices get said fix. unless phones don't work this way which would suck and mean it's un secure the custom rom dev gets boared or no longer has time.

You are confused, android builds are device specific, every patch needs to be integrated and compiled by the developer or mantainer of the rom you're using and can't be used in any other phone. Google releasses a new version of android and it's up to developers to create drivers and kernel "stuff" that allows the software to funcion in the device.

[ROM][7.1.2][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 14.1 weekly builds for Nexus 7 2013 (deb/flo)

Hello,
@sir_bazz mentioned that this needed its own thread, thus I'm creating one.
I've been building LineageOS 14.1 from the official LineageOS source repository for my personal devices for some time now, and it finally occurred to me that others might find them useful.
These builds are created every Saturday night from a 100% unaltered LineageOS repository, which is synchronized with upstream every day. I must stress that there are NO MODIFICATIONS at all; if it worked/didn't work in the last official Cyanogenmod/LineageOS releases, it works/doesn't work in my builds. At Apple we called these "sustaining builds" -- they keep devices in sync with the latest security patches, but receive no new features.
Deb is at https://lineageos.disavowed.jp/deb/. Flo is at https://lineageos.disavowed.jp/flo/. There are other devices being built as well ... if you would like me to add a 14.1 or 15.1 device to the weekly build roster, please let me know.
I hope this helps out folks who want to extend the service lifetime of their gear. Share and enjoy.
Edit: per moderator request, I need to provide a link to the source repository used to generate these builds to comply with XDA's interpretation of the GPL. It is the stock LineageOS repository, located at git://github.com/LineageOS/android.git. TheMuppets binary repository was used for the vendor blobs; it is at https://github.com/TheMuppets/
Have been testing the latest weekly for a couple of days now, and no issues to report.
My Deb device is relegated to a dedicated Pogo tablet and I think Lineage 14.1 is a better match for my use as there's noteably more memory available after system startup than with the Pie ROMs I've tested.
It just feels much smoother.
Would've been more than happy with monthly updates but thanks for building the ROM and also making weeklies available for us Nexus 7 diehards.

Likewise. I was just about to junk a (relatively) new N7 (flo) on stock MM. but wanted to give a newer ROM a try (Oreo). I didn't like my O options and stumbled upon these N builds on the backend of another thread. Flashed/Magisk couple Mods. Been up a week now and not one problem whatsoever!
Really appreciate the work as this ROM (I had never used a LinOS rom before) is running so well the N7 is almost my daily house driver again. The N7 FF really has never been matched/surpassed and once you've become accustomed to it its just hard to give up that "sweet spot".

Hi, I've just updated both my Hammerhead 15.1 and Flo 14.1. Everything has gone smoothly and all is working. I was just hoping you could clarify something that occurred to me regarding the builds.
When you say there are no modifications, does that mean that the basic ROM is frozen at the point when LineageOS stopped releasing official builds, and does that also mean that builds in between the monthly security updates are all the same or can there be other security/bug fixing updates from LineageOS? Also Lineage 15 was never official for the Nexus 5 or 7? I'm a bit in the dark as to how these things work.
Thanks in advance.

No worries. By "no modifications", I mean that these are built directly from a clone of the LineageOS repository. I've made absolutely no changes to the source code. No kernel tweaks, no new features, no hidden spyware, no bugfixes (no matter how much I am tempted to do so!).
The LineageOS folks merge the monthly Google security patches into the 14.1 and 15.1 trees, but they don't make official builds for devices that no longer have a maintainer. Their official recommendation is to build it yourself if you want to keep your devices patched, but a non-trivial number of users can't make their own builds, so ...
... since I'm doing builds for my own devices anyway, it would be a good thing to make them available to others. Thus I have done so
Edit: argh, rereading I realize I didn't directly answer your exact question. From an end-user perspective, these builds are indeed frozen in time compared to the last official LineageOS build. Security patches happen as described above.
The Nexus 7 never received an official 15.1 build as far as I can tell, so I'm generating 14.1 for it.
The Nexus 5 is a bit of a grey area, in that builds generated from the 15.1 branch work fine with the exception of Bluetooth (from what I hear, as I don't use Bluetooth on my device). It appears to require a device repartition if you want to use Google apps, though, so I'm building both 14.1 and 15.1 to keep options option.

OK. Thanks for the explanation. Sorry to ask again, but does that mean that I only have to update once a month for the security updates, and that the other weekly builds are basically just repeats? Or am I misunderstanding?

They're repeats. I'm doing them weekly to reduce the amount of time between the security patch hitting the tree and having a patched build available.

OK. That's clear now. Thanks for your time.

I was just about to junk a (relatively) new N7 (flo) on stock MM

the N7 is almost my daily house driver again. The N7 FF really has never been matched/surpassed and once you've become accustomed to it its just hard to give up that "sweet spot".

Outstanding. That is exactly the reason why I'm making these builds. There's no reason to trash perfectly good hardware. Kudos to the LineageOS folks for keeping the tree patched -- the only thing missing were, um, actual builds.
Hi !
Thank you for your LOS 14.1 updating release, but I have error 7 with TWRP when I try flash it.

Make certain you're flashing the correct image. Boot into the bootloader and verify that the platform is the same as the build variant you are flashing. Good luck.
Thank you so much for this @wileyc , is possible to add 15.1 for flo?

I'm afraid not. These are built from unmodified LineageOS source repo; I'm just providing sustaining builds, not doing new development/porting.
Thank you for these!! This rom runs perfect on the FLO. I hope you continue the updates for a long time!!

There are other devices being built as well ... if you would like me to add a 14.1 or 15.1 device to the weekly build roster, please let me know.

Good day sir, would you consider adding to the roster and doing sustaining builds for the Moto Z Play, https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/addison?
Many thanks for providing these builds for the Nexus 7 2013.

No problem at all. I've added it to the weekly roster, and a one-off build is at https://lineageos.disavowed.jp/addison/.
