Dual keyboard in portrait mode? - LG G8X ThinQ Guides, News, & Discussion

I'm new to the LG G8X and I'm struggling to fully commit to it by moving my SIM over from my Note9. This LG phone has great features but it is lacking in the software department. I believe alot of you may agree.
With that being said, I have two questions:
1. What is the best way to get suggestions to LG about software recommendations and suggestions?
2. Why is dual keyboard in portrate mode not a thing? I would love a scenerio where I'm using the left screen (in portrate mode) then I need to type something, so the keyboard pops up on the opposite screen (or I'm given the option to move it) and I can type on handed with no intrusive keyboard appearing on the left screen.
I must say, I am not a fan of the way landscape dual keyboard mode works. When typing in browsers, large bars appear at the bottom and top the screen that is being typed on. That makes it impossible for me to see a complete picture of the info on the webpage.
Any tips, info, or suggestions would be appreciated.

There is an app called "G8X Wide Mode" in the play store that lets you force dual screens in any app.
You can use it to space out the keyboard in portrait, but it only works well with the LG keyboard, the Gboard for example has some of the middle keys split across both screens.
But as far as using it the way you are describing, there is no functionality that lets you use the keyboard on one screen and the content on the other while in portrait.

Thank you for responding. I am familiar with G8X wide mode. Using that app is the closest I have gotten to producing my idea using the Gboard floating keyboard.

Full Screen Dialpad

Does anyone know where I can get a full screen dialpad for the 8525? It seems like a big waste of space not to be able to use to full screen for the keypad. I have fat fingers and it would make my life a whole lot easier to dial without having to use the stylus.
Thanks
Patrick
are you talking about something like pocketcm keyboard?
Try leaving your phone at the top of the stairs and then when it rings run up them to answer it, then you wont have such fat fingers, but i bet you live in a house with no stairs lol.
the touch dialpad has pretty big buttons
something like this?

try browse the forum in touchpal or better yet open www.cootek.com

Are you looking for Dialpads or for Keypads? Dialpad are for dialing telephone numbers. Keypads are keyboards for typing messages and such.
Dialpads-Use the search enging (upper right of this page) and type in dialpads. If not on the first page of hits definately on the 2nd or 3rd you should get a lot. There are dialpads from the HTC Touch and Marshall (you can even search his name) has produced quite a few that even include smartdialing.
Keyboards-I recommend searching touchpal or go to PocketCM.com. Tene has developed a lot of large screened ones and there are skins for even larger looks.

[Tip] One handed operation.... "iPhone" mode.

Don't let the title scare you. All this tip does is make one handed operation easy.
First: settings/one handed operation

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Second: enable the first setting
Third: the activate the mode from any screen, using one motion, swipe from the right edge in and back out again.
This will make the entire usable screen space easy for one handed operation, including on screen buttons and volume keys. I call this iPhone mode because you can make it extremely small. Also you can move it around the screen and adjust the size to your liking. The last mode you had it on will save the next time you use it. Great for lefties.
I take no credit for this tip. I was browsing YouTube when I came across a tech channel and saw it there. I had never heard of this so I figured I would share it with the community.
More pics.
Also.... you cannot use the s-pen while in this mode. Apps such as the camera will revert the phone back to full screen. Enjoy.

also works from the left side of the screen for lefties
So much screen real estate lost with this though!

Flesky keyboard

I don't know if anyone has heard of this keyboard yet but it's pretty awesome! Sort of like swpye but you can make it super minimal. I found it via drippler, so consider it a double app post of you're looking for new apps for your phone.

Used it a lot and I was impressed with it but Google keyboard is my main preference
If you ever try it out again, I found some tricks!
1. Holding the top row still brings up the numbers and punctuation. You can also get to them by swiping left from the empty space next to m. To get back to letters swipe right.
2. Double spacing by swiping brings up punctuation and you can swipe down over the keyboard to maneuver to which one you want to use.
3. Swiping up from the empty space next to the m will do enter, next line, or search ( whichever is applicable).
4. If you repeat the above but instead hold your finger on the screen for a second longer it will bring up google voice so you can talk instead.
5. By swiping right from the empty space next to z will bring up emojies.
I think the tutorial covers just about the rest. It's all about mastering it.

This is probs better. I came across it while looking for a way to do a single backspace without the spacebar visible but there doesn't seem to be one. I still like the keyboard without the spacebar because there's less chance of accidental mess ups due to the weird placement of the function keys.

Android 10 gesture glitch

Hi.
Seems that an annoying gestures bug still affect the latest S10 public update (BSL4).

Can someone reproduce it?
Another one, this time with and without gestures suggestion bottom line (back to home interferes with scrolling):

I think the most annoying bug is the gesture on the home screen. Unlike the gestures within an app or on homescreens of iPhones or pixel phones, the phone doesn't react directly with fading out the home screen. You have to perform the gesture, and then the cards pop in. Since Samsung is forced to implement Google's gestures, and it behaves different here, I consider this as a bug. Although it is still present in new phones like a51.

We will see what happen with next monthly updates, otherwise I assume that a bug report will be necessary.
Yes, and in general the animations are just laggy especially if you have auto rotate on for the home screen and swiping up to close, always lag. Inconsistent with portrait ones too.

How to remove horizontal camera hider on LG K51s??

So I recently acquired an LG K51s, because my old Sony broke due to water penetration.
One annoying thing I really dislike about the phone (apart from the rubbish skin LG uses), is the simple fact when I go into horizontal mode the phone cuts off part of the top screen to make it look seamless (because it has a hole-punch camera cutout).
Now I really don't mind the camera, provided I can use the 6.55" 20x9 720p screen. So I'd like to know, if there a way I can permanently disable it? I know Nova launcher and YouTube can somehow bypass it and use the whole screen.
Thanks in advance!

So this is kinda useless. But I'll keep trying nonetheless!
I suspect the problem is with com.android.systemui. I have managed to extract the APK and will be looking around to see if I can somehow disable a custom setting in System UI Tuner. If that doesn't work I may have to edit it manually and see if I can overwrite it, somehow...

Settings app giving me the stupid black bar (horizontal)
Same issue in Chrone as in the Settings app (horizontal)
But any app that plays videos (in my case it's YouTube) has the option to remove the black bars (horizontal)
Why is no one giving me ANY useful input?
I can even upload the 90mb systemui apk if, anyone has the knowledge and experience to go through it.
Mods, what the on earth is going on???
