How To Make Your S10 Fingerprint Scanner Faster - Samsung Galaxy S10 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello everyone,
I was searching on how to make my phone faster and stumbled upon an old Reddit thread. I'm just resharing this information because this works for me on my S10 and I've also tested this on a Galaxy A50 and SO+ All credit to the original Reddit thread owner u/prandals
So basically what you want to do is go to settings and search for "Optimize battery usage" open it and select "all apps". Next search for "com.samsung.android.biometrics" and turn this off and you should notice an increase in unlocking speed right away. I also turned off the animation for the screen unlock in biometric preferences.
Hope this helps you guys.

great tip , FP scanner is way faster without this and disabled animation.

Thanks I just tried this on my S10 Plus and it is working great now.

placebo. also, there is no "com.samsung.android.biometrics", just "com.samsung.android.biometric.settings"

Thanks for posting! very useful tip. I don't think its placebo like the above poster.

I think it has an effect. seems better indeed.
I wonder how this will affect battery life

[Q] Anyone else have XDA Problems

Of course the XDA Community is the very best! But quite honestly I find the XDA site is really fairly low quality completely unintuitive software. I also can't find anywhere to tell some moderator this so I'm posting it here to see what sort of attention it gets.
In addition to the general functional shortcomings of the forum software I am regularly (as in more than 50% of the time) hit with the following madding problem.
There is NO SEARCH feature. Right now for example I have the site open in Firefox, Chrome, and IE. I'm logged in with firefox and chrome and not IE. I also probably have never even been to XDA with IE. There is no Search at all at the Device level (one up from this forum). In fact it doesn't even render the menu drop down button. At this Thread level the Forum tools only has:

As I said this happens more than half the time. I have of course tried clearing out the cache etc. Same results.
Honestly I find the search facility really doesn't work as well as I'd like. I guess that is because I'm spoiled by the heuristics of Google. But not having it at all is infinitely worse.
Does anyone else just not get any search options? Or is this just some black hole made especially for my torture? BTW, sometime later it will all be back and work fine - until it doesn't again.
If this were my site the missing search would be an indication that the back end search subsystem had failed and the JSP was smart enough to not render a search button. But I haven't seen anything to make me believe this forum software is anything approaching that level of sophistication. So I'm going to stick with my initial assumption - this is a big hairy BUG!
Thoughts?
I can't find the search either. Very frustrating. I just got a galaxy S3 and would really like to figure out some stuff without having to post new threads for stuff I'm fairly sure is common.
And..... Now it's working again.

Maintenance tools useful or not?

Hi, I am about to recieve my newly bought android phone soon and I was checking out some apps on the Android Market to prepare myself for the android overload with apps
Well, after looking through the pages, I saw a lot of apps for maintenance so I was wondering if they are actually useful or just a bunch of useless apps?
Thanks in advance for the info !
Cheers
I think your topic is to broad. There are generally both good and bad apps in any given category

Thats mainly why I'm asking it, there are so many apps about maintenance and I would like to know which any of you might think/know is good. Because my dad has tried something like a "Battery Life Saver" but it just took more of his RAM so it was pointless in one way but useful in another.
Basicly if the apps are useful, if yes, which are useful, and in what kind of way it's useful.
Or for example "Tool X can be used each month to clean ..." , "Tool Y can be used to improve CPU/RAM or any other kind".
Sometimes you see a "big" post of someone who explains it for PC for noobs like:
1. Do a defrag of your PC each 6 months.
2. Clean registry each ...
...
Sorry if I'm asking for too much.

Hello everyone! | LAG FIX RIGHT HERE!!! | NO EFFORT NEEDED |

Yooooooo everyone,
So recently I started a thread which indicated the AUX problem and lag problems, funny enough lag didn't bother me as much as the AUX cord problem but I found a fix for the lag. The improvements are beyond amazing and apps such as instagram showed to have a 17% increase in loading times.
*I know that some people may already know about this as this fix has been around for many years, since honeycomb to be exact, but this is to he'll people that didn't already know*
All that said! Let's get this going!
So firstly unlock "developer options"
Scroll down until you see a option called "Force GPU 2D rendering" switch it on.
Enable "disable hw overlays" as well and after this, you will see an improvement I garentuee.
Oh and btw there isn't any side effects/negative effects of this option, everything is safe and battery actually occurred to improve by 2% which lead to maybe 4 minutes more usage time! All in all a fix for what the Z5 was originally bought for.
If you guys need any information on the switch or anything at all don't hesitate to ask below!
Love you all! And hope you enjoy the z5 compact like we all wanted it for x

Note 3 Data issues

Hi Guys,
Have searched the forums (and the MIUI one) for this and there seems to be too many threads. Have logged it on the MIUI forum too but there seems to no confirmed answer/resolution.
Since the 2nd to last update, my Redmi Note 3 has no Data Connection daily, it takes multiple reboots or Airplane mode on/offs to kick it back in. Phone is stock, latest rom (cannot add link into posts yet)
Is there anything I have missed or can do to resolve? As i say, I know there are many threads but nothing seems concrete. Is my best option to Root and try a new ROM?
Thanks for any help....
Colonel
Hey all,
this may seem a little forward, but is the topic of this thread a big no no? I understand sometimes there is genuinely no answer, and like all others I appreciate the knowledge some people have on here, but on XDA and the MIUI forum, this issue is posted a lot, and it never gets 1 reply, or on the MIUI forum a mod just says "its your phone".
Seems a little weird as it has rendered a lot of phones useless

[Display-SM-G920F] Need some opinions, I never seen something like that 'till now

Hi,
Hope this is the right topic, i bought a SM-G920F (Galaxy S6 Flat) and I just noticed a lot of "solitary cards" on the screen, in every page of the screen, even in the software update page before starting the system.
I know it's hard to understand like that so i attached some pictures to make you understand better. It's like a pattern, but i cant figure it out how to remove that.

It's something you can see only with the screen on, if the phone is off, it's perfect.

What do you think it can be? Is it possible to solve the problem?
