Sony UI - long press back to lock screen? - Sony Xperia 1 Questions & Answers

does the Sony UI have the "long press back button to screen lock"? like OnePlus or some roms? this is hands down the most used function on a phone for me.
double tapping status bar or any other shortcut isn't helpful.
I'm looking at the X1 mkii coming and may dump my G8x for it... if it has this function.
not being able to root these SD processors just totally sucks. need a solution. thank you.

What you're holding is not an iPhone, friend.
So there is no way to change the function of the double tap on the key? Perhaps to something more useful as some probably have no use for the voice command system. Can anyone answer this? And yes I'm sure the op is aware that he or she does not hold an iPhone.
if this is a problem for you, an iphone is the better choice

maybe the iphone it is a better choice for the people who doesnt want to modify their OS and work with a fixed one instead of what their want in personal use.
long press for a ****ty multitask it is not the way to go, and with 3 keys 2 click on home is the faster way until we got a multitask like windows mobile 6.5 with taskfacade or something and a click on notification bar to use.

I whole-heartedly agree, and I actually have a hard time believing that your question was met with all those snarky comments from a forum dedicated to customizing the most customizable mobile OS on the planet.
I too would like to be able to change the default home double click behaviour. I'm sure it can be done, i just don't know how. Any ideas, people?

I'll give you a sensible response, as of yet, you can't change the double tap function on the S2. It may be customized in the future but so far you'll just have to live with the annoying voice control app.
I hope that helps
Thanks for the non-sarky response

Indeed it helps. Cheers!
I've seen an application called multitasking pro that supposedly opens with a double tap of the home button. But I guess it wouldn't work on S2 yet, huh?

I don't know, Install it and see, I doubt it will work though, I doubt it'll be able to override a stock Samsung app.

Wow, way to be an ass. Never heard of Quick Desk?
All the multitasking of the iPhone from double tap, but with the option to add widgets as well?
If that's not one upping the iPhone at it's own game then I don't know what is.
I for one know I'd rather have a multi tasking app than a voice search I'll never use.
Anyway, the closest i've found is http://android.modaco.com/content/s...odaco-com/340047/take-control-of-home-button/ but this is only working on KE2 as of the moment.
Guys, what I'd like is a long hold on the BACK button to bring up the multi-task menu, this would feel like less of an effort than the long press on HOME.

[Q] camera app hack

Hello, I just found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149845
which comes from this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980835
And I wonder if would it be possible to implement something like this on our beloved optimus one?, since it would be really cool to use volume or power buttons to shoot the camera, or maybe it could be the search button IDK, but any of theese would be nicer and more comfortable than tapping the onscreen button to shoot.
Of course I'm just a basic user and not a developer so I have no clue how hard would it be to do it.
Well, if you are a developer and you would contribute to our community with a mod like this, THANK YOU!
I've mentioned it on another topic, way back, many months ago...
Suggested that the key that HAS to be used for camera, is search button !!
By far the most practical way!
No developers found since then....
;S that's a shame, maybe it is not possible or developers don't read general forum... at least they could reply with a "there's no way to do that" or something
And yes, search button would be the best option

If you want the search key to function like the camera button here's what I did.
1. CM7 Settings edit search key to open Camera.
2. In Camera press your menu settings and go advance.
3. Press Use Settings Button for camera.
and what about froyo ?
the volume buttons are too ahrd. even if this is implemented taking pictures will not be easy and there will be alot of blur.

Any other ideas you guys? I know lg optimus one xda developers forum community has great coders and developers and everything we need to see this implemented is some of them to get interested in doing it.
Still waiting...

Even the volume keys would be more comfy that pressing and releasing the onscreen button, but as it is stated before the best option is the search button.

Here is how to save space using optimization of the soft buttons!

So I ordered now LG G2 32GB (950USD in Israel, I know its expensive but well... thats what it is and I wanted a device with large screen, powerfull multi tasking and something that I wont have to replace in 1 year but at least in 2 years, super power little computer for all my internet, emails, mult tasking, office things...), I could choose Z Ultra, S4, Optimus G Pro but took G2 as most people online voted for this one and I heard them plus I liked the way this device looks from all photos I watched and I liked it's longer life per each charge versus others (from reviews i was reading).
Now something I feel bothered with, I see on youtube that this soft menu buttons stays even in games, pretty much anywhere...
So following my study, how to make the LG G2 perfect in terms of screen space utilization and avoid loosing so much space due to the soft buttons (your own risk):
1) Root your device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45692679#post45692679
2) Auto Hide soft keys: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys&hl=en
3) Use the auto hide function of the soft keys and enjoy from the footer menu when you need it without it always be there OR dont use the footer menu at all and enjoy from Pie Menu style using LMT launcher: http://www.droid-life.com/2013/01/23/lmt-launcher-brings-pie-goodness-without-the-custom-rom/

Does the app allow you to reduce the size of the navigation bar? I'd like to make it slightly smaller. If not, does anyone know of an app or method that does allow this?
Thanks
The international version has the auto hide function built in through an update. Verizon is probably just being a hard case and holding the update for their G2s.

WHATTTTT!!?!?! Seriously?!?! That would be sick!
Please elaborate and provide screenshot of these settings!
Thank you!
Basically, you select the apps that you want it hidden when in use. It should've been a default feature but I'll take the OTA if it's a quick fix. Not sure if it's like auto-hide key app where you can swipe up. I think it's more permanent (hidden or visible) with no middle ground.

So I tried it out, and you can adjust the size with the auto hide bar, but not the static (default) navigation bar. I kind of like the auto hide and may keep it, but if I can find a way to just reduce the height of the stock bar I may prefer that.

By the way I spoke to the LG MOBILE department in USA about the auto hide feature. this is the official response:
I definitely understand some of the suggestions you have made. I will pass this along the departments that manage software and development. Thanks again for your insight ^FC
I vote for some pie app or custom rom with builtin pie.
You can set it on bottom or side of screen or both. Revolution of big screen and one hand use! I allso bought that gmd autohide softkeys app but nevergoing back.
Customrom, fullscreen mode and pie control!
Best thing since 1st android!

Is there a way to get old multi window back?

So since 9.0 update broke multiwindow feature. I used it as long press on multitasking button for split screen. Is there an app or something to get it back without root?

Do this: tap on the app icon at the top of the app when you're in the recents screen, there is a split screen option there. Do me a favor though, try it and see how well it works. When I do it, the app only takes up a tiny bit of the screen at the top, I try to slide it down but it just slides back up. It is there but to me it seems buggy or at least difficult to use. Let me know
Update: I figured it out. You select to open one app in split screen, and then choose any other app and they will both share the screen.

Multi-Window is not broken in Android 9. All that happened with it (and other features, I don't have a full list readily available) was a change in how we use said features.
Someone else asked the same question recently. Thread below will be of help to you.

I know they changed it, but I should have explained it better. I wanted to know if there is a way to get as we had it on Oreo? On oreo, there was a way to assign long press of multitasking button to split-screen current app. And I want to know if I could get that back?

Checking the users manual for Android Pie for our phone's the only way to do app pairing now is via the Edge menu.
If you want other methods then you can refer to the thread I linked (someone posted an app suggestion for what your asking in the thread). Otherwise check the Google Play store and see if there is an app that will do the trick.
