How to update evolution x rom for MI A3?? - Xiaomi Mi A3 Questions & Answers

I have been using the evolution x rom for some time and a update has been released and I want to update it but I tried it once through the inbuilt updater it completed the update install but after I rebooted the device it got stuck in a bootloop and then I had to go into the recovery and reboot into the system to get into android and the rom wasn't updated and I was still on the older version.
I just want to know if I update the rom through the recovery by just flashing the new .zip file does my apps and data remain or not??

i think the data remains but magisk disappears so u need to flash it again, but, here's the maintainer forum https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a3/how-to/rom-evolutionx-4-1-t4066325 ask him

update remidmi note 4g using twrp

hi, i have a redmi note 4g and i want to update it to the new version (6.6.1.0)
but when i click on update, it reboots and stucks on the twrp screen. what do i do once in the twrp screen? i have wsm tools installed.
Stock update works only with stock recovery. If you want to install MIUI from TWRP you have to install it like any other ROM (download zip to sdcard, boot in TWRP and install manually).
Be aware that you will lose every modification you did in /system partition, including WSM.
Also note that MIUI v7 will soon be available for this device.
This page contains stable and developer versions of MIUI for you to download. They are localized in many languages (not only chinese and english like those directly from Xiaomi), dev versions are updated weekly and already rooted.

Thanks bro..I don't mind losing data. Can you tell me the procedure to install it? I mean wipe dalvik, and?
If you want to upgrade MIUI you don't need to do anything, just install new rom, no wipe necessary. You won't lose your data, only changes you made in /system. If you want to start fresh, there is an option to factory reset, you can do it before install, but again if you come from MIUI and want to install newer MIUI this is not necessary.
Download the zip from the page I gave you, copy it to sdcard, press install button in TWRP, locate the zip and install it, done

Incremental updates are only from one version to the next one (eg 5.8.14 to 5.8.21). Just be sure that you come from the right version. If not, install the full package, the results are the same

How to fully unrooted and get into official one plus x device for get ota update offi

Guys iam unrooted my one plus x for getting official ota updates , but after unrooting iam getting ota notification and click on install , but in process of update in recovry mode it says failed and reboot , pls pls help me how to solve this problem and get back to official opx device
1. Download OnePlusOxygen_14_OTA_008_all_201601221550.zip .
2. Just flash it.
3. You'll be on OxygenOS 2.2.0 without any other files to flash. Don't wipe data and cache to retain your apps and data.
The right answer is : you won't have Over The Air. You have to flash it manually as @StraightEdgeKid just said.
You should flash the next updates the same too.
After installing full 2.2.0 ROM, he'll be unrooted completely, and if he has stock recovery, he can install OTA's afterwards, unless he remains on stock.
Yeah but it always depends on the way he rooted the phone. The OneCmlickRoot solution have to be bannished on OPX!
Ofcourse not, if he flashes full 2.2.0 ROM, everything from system will be overwritten, leaving no place for previous stuff in system. /system will be cleaned completely.
Thanks for this. Downloaded the file, flashed through stock "recovery", and voila.
Flash the full ota and after that check you are on stock recovery or custom recovery(twrp) if its custom then flash stock recovery and you will be able to get otas

Stock updates on rooted G5 with TWRP

Hey guys,
I tried to update my rooted G5 via OTA firmware update, but when the device reboots (to install the update), I'm booting to TWRP automatically.
There was some setting you could set on the install of TWRP ("to make stock updates easier" or so). Do you know, what that setting was? Is there a way to install stock updates on a rooted device?
Thanks!
Twrp asks if it should put the system partition not writable. But I think you cannot install OTAs even then.
But... I had the same problem and you can just use lg up with the kdz file of the latest ROM version and select upgrade in the program. It will not delete your data but you will have to install twrp and root again.
But you can of course also do a factory reset while installing the new ROM and start from scratch.

OTA for rooted phone

Hi all,
As I understand it is impossible to get OTA on rooted phone with costume recovery.
What is the solution for updating the phone?
As far as I can see the only solution is to flash complete ROM whenever it is released, but that means factory reset, re-installing the apps, and re-setting all the system settings to my liking everytime, and that just sucks.
Is there a better solution?
I remember that with the galaxy s3 I had it was possible to get flashable zip of the OTA updates, I couldn't find a similar thing for the Honor 9
Read this: Root with magisk while keeping stock recovery
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/how-to/guide-root-using-magisk-stock-recovery-t3718203
I just installed the latest miui 9 beta ota in TWRP with no problems.
After flashing the beta (before rebooting) I flashed TWRP and majisk. When I finished flashing I cleared cache/dalvic and rebooted with no problems.
I accidentally posted it in the wrong forum (that what happens when you have 2 phones to manage I guess)
Was supposed to be in Honor 9 forum

[HELP] Bootloop after downgrade stock ROM

Hi everyone I messed up my phone trying to root. Here is what happened,
I wanted my phone rooted to delete some useless app so I flash Supersu.zip to my phone with TWRP (bdw phone is 'Vestel VenĂ¼s v3 5010')
But it did not work and phone stuck at boot-loop than I flash stock rom but that wasn't same rom but it was compatible(Chipset is Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 MSM8909 so I used QFIL). Phone was working good but than a notification appeared it was update to nougat from marshmallow. Update ended up with error and I tried update manually I found the rom and update it.
It worked too but WiFi, Bluetooth, and Hotspot didn't work so I flashed old Rom but this time phone didn't open stuck at boot-loop. I tried all roms which compatible with this phone but only nougat one works.
I guess boot.img didn't work because internal storage has one file and it's name is TWRP
I tried wipe every partition in TWRP.
I can't use Nougat rom because system took lots of space
I installed drivers
I am trying to unbrick for 2 days and I am not sure what I tried.
I am out of idea please help.
Sorry if my language not good.
